I live in a fairly affluent area of Chicago. It's around Northwestern Hospital.I have seen rioters burn police cars within blocks of my apartment, windows of established businesses and retail stores shattered, and mobs of rioters reign terror down upon my city. Helicopters circled over the city last night. Police formed protective barriers to prevent the rioters' onslaught into an otherwise peaceful neighborhood by the lake.In The Loop, which is the main business/commercial area of the city, businesses that have been here for generations have been destroyed. Family owned, often minority owned businesses have been damaged beyond repair. Their inventories have been looted. Residents have been shot at by "the oppressed".While we have so far escaped the fires, arson, and the worst of the wanton destruction these criminals have caused; the night is still young.The rioters are both black and white. Some of them are only kids. Many of them are in their 20s and 30s.The looters are only black. They are all ages.This form of violence does nothing to support any cause they seemingly support. In reality, #BlackLivesMatter and its cohort, Antifa, look more to me pretexts.These people don't give a shit about social justice. They just want to watch the world burn, and more specifically be the ones to set it on fire.If racial justice was their purpose, they would not be destroying the lives and livelihoods of minority-owned, and specifically black owned, businesses -- of which there (were) many in Chicago.I have sympathy for the victims of injustice; not for the agents of injustice. These rioters are not victims. They are the victimizers. They disgrace their message, the cause of racial justice, and they have done irreparable harm to that cause. Harm that will take generations to unwind.They are beneath contempt.
I heard the rioters are moving in the suburbs and are planning to raid. I work at a department store and we had to evacuate ASAP when we heard the rioters were coming north. This is a HORRIBLE idea. People where I live are ARMED with guns, especially in the richer neighborhoods

I don't think it should, but you have a right to worry. I am not too worried and I live in Chicago where the city is going crazy. There moving out into the neighborhoods and are looting in there, fairly close to my town. I hear the cop cars outside my house. I have ways to defend myself and I have a right to defend myself if anyone enters my house

Fate clearly wants Donald Trump to be reelected. He was given coronavirus to bail out his presidency and he fumbled it, and immediately afterward he was given this. Unfortunately, as recently as yesterday he was going after Joe Biden for being too tough on crime. Does he even want to win?
This isn't just a fumble, this is a fucking fumble where you are wide open running the football right down the middle where absolutely no one can touch you. Colin Kaepernick kneeled down and donated money to community outreach problems and got shit all over. Riots get national attention and promote change. I don't think it's the best way but I understand why people are doing it. Stop with the toxic positivity bullshit.
Colin Kaepernick is an example of how to go about protesting. Drawing national attention to something while peaceful doing so.
What are you doing to help? What have you ever done to help or make your voice heard on this issue? Probably nothing so I don't think anyone who worries about this life experience cares about your perspective.
I've signed petitions, going to attend rallies, and have spread stuff through social media. As much as I can do being a 16yr old

Your example exist in decades of the 1770s, 1860s, etc where a government oppressed a certain group of people by law.
There is no law here oppressing black people, but a society and police force that have abused their power, Destroy the police if you have a problem with them as they are responsible for the actions that occurred, not the business owners who have no connections. It's ok to feel anger, but logic helps. I am angry at this event and am fuming. There is a rally this Sunday in Chicago that I will be most likely be attending. This is peaceful protest.

Businesses have insurance. Unfortunately force is the only thing people respond to sometimes. That and financial disruptions. It looks like these protests are looking to utilize both.
How do you know that a business will recover from this? They may go bankrupt, lose all their business, be left with nothing but suffering and sadness because there store was illegally and unfairly trashed. If it was a racist that owned it, go ahead, but I have heard of no places that were trashed supporting the racists.
And think about the employees of big businesses. They work a minimal wage job in a struggling time economically. Now there living is trashed and they aren't able to find work so they can't pay the bills and are left in the street. That certainly isn't fair to that minimum wage employee who had no involvement in any of the racist acts done by cops
Innocent people suffering is always tragic, but when the people are fighting GOVERNMENT our options are limited. It's hilarious that white people and conservatives love celebrating the 2nd amendment and noting how we might need weapons to fight the state one day, but when we see black people do it, it's automatically criminal and unjustifiable and we look for "peaceful" resolution. Ha.

And what did I say? You said that cops don't say anything about stuff like this? I responded saying that's not true. The Policing System is flawed and Americans know that, but don't act like good cops don't exist when there are plenty of them who do. I have family who work for the CPD who have put their hearts on the line defending the cities they serve. Just because multiple dirty racist cops do a horrible, egregious, and vile act doesn't mean 99.9% of officers are bad. The system is flawed in itself and Minneapolis has a flawed system with their cops and many cases have been reported
As for looting, destroying the livelihoods of many people who own small businesses (eg: a place that stores ancient native american archives) was burned down and lost all their records. Family owned businesses destroyed. These people may lose their livelihoods due to this, with the debt and fees they will pay. I understand that buildings are replacable, especially Target's and Autozone's, but by trashing local businesses, you ruin other people's livelihoods associated with this. A women was kidnapped by protesters and it was filmed live. I have a problem with innocent people who had nothing to do with this being in grave danger. There are better ways to go about protesting. Peacefully protesting in large masses is effective. Doing things in large masses peacefully works. I understand that police were tear gassing those people, and I shame and spit on those people who have done that. Our country was built off peaceful protest.

Juggle, the main owner of DDO did not invest their time into helping clean up the site, so spam bots made their way into the site and there's only so much Airmax can do as a moderator. It become so overwhelming that the site eventually got so flooded with spam it became unusable. The official death was 2018 when this site was created, but some say in 2016 is when it started dying

I don't trust cops. Especially in Chicago. It's hard not to respect them when some of them have lost their lives trying to protect the city. In one part of Chicago though, you can't trust or respect cops because they do nothing besides eat donuts and sit on their fat ass because of the fact no crimes happens. So they give stupid tickets and go out of their way to target teenagers. Nothing but harassment

Incorrect. According to the New York Times, Obamacare had Republican ideas, but it was never fully a GOP, and before the Republican revisions, it was extremely partisan to the Democrats. It’s still a Democratic sponsored and created bill, but small changed made to please the GOP were needed when passing the bill. I don’t hate Obamacare, but I believe it was ineffective

The police system is utterly corrupt. I respect cops but the system needs to be fixed. I was riding around on an Razor Dirtbike and a cop gave me a $150 dollar ticket when I was only 13. Seriously mate. A kid riding a dirtbike doing no harm and your charging him with a ticket? The term "cop" has changed, and needs to be redefined. Cops need to also go through more training than what they have with proper responding, and proper conduct. They also need to do proper checks and make sure no mental illness is there. Stuff needs to change within the system and in a big city that doesn't get much National Attention (eg: Minneapolis), corruption runs wild. CPD is not as corrupt just due to the public eye.
I respect cops 100% and mourn the losses they have taken on gang related violence, but things need to change for the better of our society

I don't really see a defense for this case. He wasn't armed and did no haneous crime to deserve being murdered. The CoD was at the hands of the police
LaQuan McDonald was different. LaQuan was high off PCP Pipe and waved around a knife in front of a cop. That's threatening a cop and the cop was defending himself. This isn't a cop defending himself, but senseless violence
