In the movie, he had no role besides being the chosen one... he didn't have a legit power besides playing his flute and revealing the crystal that was the right one. if anything, he would be a cop

A doctor has a similar function to a roleblocker, and GP has been a bit of a lurker in these games as well. My role could not be related to a scum role because a normal messenger role in game is always a town role. Pie has been confirmed town, and it simply does make sense to claim a role that has been related to the show w/o context of the show.
