That and, what are your general views on extremely conservative views pertaining to society and social issues?
I generally find extremely conservative views problematic, as they too often fail to recognize that substantive freedom is just as, if not more, important than literal freedom.

Sorry if I'm bugging you with the questions (this is probably the last lol), I'm just curious to hear your general statements/points of view. You seem to be not only firm in your beliefs, but great at defending them in debate, and somewhat intelligent.
OMG. Another complimentary insult.

POLL: Should Reporting Be Anonymous?
Given that it has been two days (in fact, several hours more), which is the time afforded to moderation policy comment periods, I think that this is a good point for me to weigh in on the results. Given that there are more votes for the status quo than for change, it seems clear to me that the status quo should be maintained moving forward. I thank everyone for participating in this thread and drafter for hosting it. It was great to get feedback from the site usership on this issue.

So, I have big issues with Theocracy given the reality of pluralism. I believe in religious freedom, not rule by religion. As for monarchism/authoritarianism, it seems to me that while monarchs and dictators may occasionally be quite capable of governing, often they are entirely incapable of doing so. Given that such forms of governance often lack peaceful, institutionalized means of removing incompetent leaders from office, democracy seems better. At least some of the time voters will oust inept politicians. That said, it seems as though if we take freedom of choice seriously as a right, it would be impossible to endorse authoritarianism or monarchy because the ability of the people to choose their leaders is not respected. People should have a say, directly or indirectly, in the laws which and the persons who govern them.

Feedback/Question; Listing people who are "not allowed" to vote?
-->
@Raltar
1. If debaters create these sorts of rules, including lists banning specific people from participation, are those rules actually going to be enforced?

2. What prevents the type of abuse I described before, where a sinister user may attempt to ban everyone that is likely to disagree with them, allowing only people to vote that are likely to vote in their favor?

On 1, no, not without cause. Moderation enforces the voting policy. Issues of voting policy may sometimes become issues of debate rules (particularly re: conduct points), but moderation does not currently enforce the policies created by the debaters themselves where those policies are not immediately pertinent to the site voting policy. In short: such rules would not be enforced by the moderators.

On 2, the fact that moderation does not enforce such rules precludes that specific type of abuse from being actualized.

More general question: What is your general (not specific issue-based) criticism of religious fundamentalism and reactionary/ultraconservative social views?
Do you take ultraconservatism to mean some kind of hyper libertarianism or fascism?

Well that's a misinterpretation, Christians believe they shouldn't act on their gay desires - not that they're wrong for having them.
Certainly that's not what *all* Christians believe, otherwise people wouldn't send gay kids to conversion camps to get fixed. That said, sex, as an expression of love, should be celebrated, irrespective of who the participants are (presuming valid consent is obtained, ofc).

Is there any level of immodesty or general "disgust" in LGBT rallies?
I don't think immodesty is inherently problematic in any way. I don't find it an issue.

Do you see LGBT rights and Christianity (specifically Catholicism) as incompatible in any sense?
Depends on which passages you're reading. If you believe that, ultimately, all persons ought to be respected as God's creations, then it is hard, given the evidence that homosexuality is involuntary, to be opposed to homosexuality.

What is your opinion on Christianity, and more specifically Catholicism?
It's not for me. For those who derive meaning out of it, they should be entitled to participate and to believe freely. However, religious beliefs should not be used as justifications for violating the rights of others. Not having women in the priesthood, for example, treats people unequally without, as I see it, legitimate cause.

Do you believe Christians should support LGBT rights?
I believe everyone should support LGBT rights.

What are your thoughts on Gay Pride Parades?
Unfortunately, I've never been to one. But, they look hella fun.

1. What is the purpose of life?
Depends on the person. I'm not really qualified to answer that question...

2. What is your best explanation for the fermi paradox
Gah. I hate math.

3. Thoughts on efforts of radical life extension.
I think it would probably drive us insane.

4. Have you watched in and out yet, like I suggested?
No.

6. Favorite slasher flick?
I don't even know what that is...

7. How do you eliminate all uncertainty in life, so you can feel safe?
You don't.

8. Is it better to do things that will bring about a utopian world in 123 years or things to eliminate suffering now even if the consequences 123 years down the road for those actions are bad?
The former.

9. Why?
Because.

10. What are your thoughts on things that are big? I tend to think all things big are bad, such as government, business and people with a lot of power and influence?
Big dick's are great :P

12. Why did you refuse to answer number 11?
Because, it none of yo' business.

16. Why should a person be banned for driving drunk, if they can still drive better than the worst sobor drivers who are free to legally drive on the road?
Because individual exceptions like that cannot be factored into laws which must govern society in general.

17. Wouldn't it make more sense to just regulate who drives based on ability to drive rather than on what they do to their bodies.
I don't think that's possible to do beyond those measures already in place.

18. Honest opinion of me?
I might do an HO thread later.

Cool beans. Yeah, I think there are definitely good reasons to have non-anonymous reporting, but obviously people disagree. I think the information can also help the moderator glean an understanding of site interpersonal dynamics, which help them do their job. If two people constantly report each other, it indicates they may not get along, for instance.

@Castin
Yes, if only because now Drafter is not reporting every vote on every debate. Even with the report limit in place, a user could overwhelm moderation's current capabilities depending on how many other reports come in at once. Once a debate is reported, that report is evaluated like all the others are against site standards. But, if it becomes clear a user is misusing the report function, the mods could work to educate that voter on site standards to discourage future misusing of the report function.

@drafterman
Your insinuation misconstrues the benefit of the lack of anonymity. Knowing which reports come from frequent spam reports allows me to prioritize my handling of reports and to better decide which mod should be assigned the report in question (to ensure all mods get a fair workload). It also means that if the spam reporting becomes too problematic, moderation could conceivably, though it hasn't yet, reach out to a member to explain the site voting policy in order to facilitate better reporting practices. I imagine that could also serve to promote better understanding of vote moderation in general.

The problem is that the issue may be a problem one week or month but not the next. It's kind of hard to answer your question given that, but I would say that there are reporters who misuse the function to regularly report *clearly* sufficient votes.

Spam reports are not necessarily characterized by over-reporting. That is one way to spam report, but some reporters are likely to report votes for, as far as I can tell, no substantive reason--particularly when the reports are on votes which are *clearly* sufficient.

LYNCHED LAST DP

Grey - You are KAI WINN ADAMI. You would always show up at DS9 at the most inopportune moment, always the bearer of ill tidings. Because you insist on showing up, even when you're not wanted, you are the compulsive VISITOR. Each night you must select another player to visit. Your visit will do nothing. If you fail to make a selection, your action will be randomly decided for you. You win with the town.

DIED IN THE NIGHT

Vaar - You are GUL DUKAT. You betrayed everyone you ever owed loyalty too--the Cardassian Union, The Dominion, yourself. Possessed by an unbridled desire for power and an insane lust for revenge, you are evil to the core. Therefore, you are the TRAITOR. You are mafia, but will not be included in the mafia PM until DP3. Your teammates do not know your identity, but you know theirs. You win with the mafia.

GRAVEYARD

Supa 1 - Lwaxanna Troi, Nexus - Town
Budda 1 - Ezri Dax, Vanilla - Town
Grey - Kai Winn Adami, Visitor - Town
Vaar - Gul Dukat, Traitor - Mafia

LIVING PLAYERS

Budda 2 (Aporia)
Argent
DPR
Lunatic
LM (Sloth)
Supa 2 (Pie)
Warren
Wylted

With 8 players, it takes 5 votes to lynch.
The DP ends at 10:30pm, EST, on 11/19/18

Good luck! And let the games begin!

@Wylted
Way to ask the heavy questions...

What are acceptable reasons to get PTSD?
I don't think there are more or less acceptable reasons. There are just reasons.

Have you seen the movie "In and Out"?
Nope.

If you were forced to have sex with a woman, which woman would it be?
That's an impossible choice. I'd prefer someone I don't know, who is STD-free, I guess.

What makes a person evil/good?
An evil person is one who almost never considers the interests of others in their actions, and in fact sets out to cause harm to others.

What are the top qualities you look for in a stalker?
I don't.

What people have a moral obligation to act as role models?
Parents, among others. Ideally, all people should strive to be a role model for someone, but that presupposes that all people have someone in their lives worth being a role model for.

Are all people who choose to become foster parents evil?
No.

If the hair is thinning... would you say go for it and shave it off... or try to keep it and style it as creative as you can?
If it were me, I'd probably try to save my hair first, but I wouldn't quite be as desperate as Trump. If it's gonna go, it's gonna go. I'd probably let it fade naturally until it just looked awful and then I'd shave it off. Crossing my fingers that I never get to that point though...
