Grahf throws his sword at the mound. It bounces harmlessly off its vegetative hide.

[Ranged Weapon Attack: d20 (12) + 1 = 13, Miss!]

Snerp rushes down and feeds a healing potion to Roberts, then backs away quickly.

[Healing Potion: 2d4 (4, 2) + 2 = 8 hit points healed]

The mound plays whack-a-mole with the heroes as they come up and down. Roberts takes a nap again.

[Roberts takes 17 bludgeoning damage]

Roberts lays on the ground.

[Death Save: d20 (18) = 18, Success!]

Eikka grabs Roberts by his armor and attempts to drag him away from the mound. It uses the opportunity to lash out, knocking her unconscious.

[Eikka takes 15 bludgeoning damage]

The end comes! Death, be praised! The end comes! Death, be praised!

Grahf rises to his feet, disengages, and backs away from the mound as far as he can.

Snerp rushes down and feeds a healing potion to Eikka.

[Healing Potion: 2d4 (1, 2) + 2 = 5 hit points healed]

The mound makes a sweeping attack and downs both Roberts and Eikka.

[Roberts takes 18 bludgeoning damage]
[Eikka takes 15 bludgeoning damage]

Roberts lays on the ground.

[Death Save: d20 (17) = 17, Success!]

Seemingly dead, again, Eikka rises from the ground again and launches a bolt at the mound! Unfortunately, the bolt misses.

RETCON

Grahf attempts to cut himself free, but finds that he cannot secure the appropriate leverage.

[Melee Weapon Attack (with disadvantage): d20 (99) + 5 = 14, Miss!]

Snerp insults the plant, and it shivers in annoyance.

[Vicious Mockery Damage: d4 (2) = 2 psychic damage]

The mound once again slams its appendages into Roberts and Eikka, lifting them off the ground and slamming them around a bit. Eikka is rendered temporarily unconscious but stands up and lets out an Orcish roar of fury.

[Roberts takes 12 bludgeoning damage]
[Eikka takes 15 bludegoning damage]

As Grahf struggles against the creature it continues to constrict its vines around him. Grahf feels several unpleasant cracks, then blacks out. The mound looses and allows Grahfs limp body to slide out onto the floor.

[Grahf Constitution Save: d20 (4) + 2 = 6, Failed!]
[Grahf takes 17 bludgeoning damage]

Roberts roars in rage and continues to thrash the beast.

[Melee Weapon Attack: d20 (14) + 5 = 19, Hit!]
[Shortsword Damage: d6 (2) = 2 piercing damage]

@Mopac
No, when I say ultimate reality, I literally mean what that means. The way I understand that is irrelevant to what it actually is.
Sure. But words and phrases can have different meanings. And it can lead to confusion when two people are using the same word or phrase in different meanings. And since we ran into that exact case before, I don't think it's unreasonable to take measure to try and avoid it.

You shy away from that, you are in denial of what God, with a capital "G" means. We are not talking about gods, but God.
I understand what you mean by God. And I don't believe in it.

And all of this is really off topic for this thread, so if you want to talk about this somewhere else or even challenge me to a debate, I'll discuss there
Then I don't understand why you brought it up. All I was talking about was how you aren't really as charitable as you say you are.

@Mopac
If you believe in truths at all, you must believe in that which is ultimately real.
That's not necessarily true. Yes, truths can be empirically true in the sense that they are accurate statements about physical reality. Not all truths are like this. Some truths are simply true because they are valid inferences from other truths, such as mathematical truths.

I'm going to shy away from loaded terms such as "ultimate reality" because I have found that you load these terms with meaning beyond a generic understanding of the term.

If there isn't an ultimate reality, nothing is true, there is no such thing as truth. And since we are clearly existing, that really settles the matter quite conclusively. God exists. That is what Ultimate Reality means.
If there was no physical reality, then I would agree that there would be no truths that could describe it. But I disagree that these are the only truths that exist, nor do I believe that the existence of a physical reality means a god exists.

You know there is truth.
Right, but I don't believe in The Truth, as you have described it previously. I also don't believe that any individual truths, or even sets of truths, are dependent on The Truth (previously described), nor do I believe, as a consequence, that this means truths are therefore arbitrary. Simply put, I do not accept, as a premise, that the objective truth of truths requires the existence of some fundamental Truth (previously described) in order to be true.

In short, there is nothing that you have described as being God that is in my system of beliefs, by that name or any other.

[M]y position has NEVER been that all God deniers and atheists are dishonest.
Yes it is.

In this post right here, you say "[E]veryone knows deep down that God exists." Necessarily this puts "God deniers and atheists" as being dishonest because their stance is rooted in not believing (and therefore not knowing) that God exists. The only way around this is to admit that (at least some) atheists honestly, innocently, and rationally exist in a state of ignorance of and disbelief in God. You don't grant that.

From the very beginning you poison the well in any attempt to have a constructive conversation or debate about the subject.

So can you, buddy. But you choose not to. So why would I be better response to you? You don't have to equate people that disagree with you as drug users. But you do.

To be honest, you lost me long ago when you said:

"So everyone knows deep down that God exists."

Essentially, you're saying that everyone that disbelieves in God is doing so dishonestly. They are either lying to themselves (in denial) or lying to everyone else. The fact is, you don't know what I believe deep down. You can only ever take my word for it. But you don't take people's word for it. You've decided for yourself what I believe. There are few things as condescending as to dictate to other people what their beliefs "truly" are.

The essence of charity is to start off from the basis that other people are being honest and rational, at least within the confines of their own world view. But you don't. You start with the opposite principle, that atheists are being dishonest, irrational, and contradictory, and don't grant them the benefit that they have a world view different from yours that is housed upon different premises.

You've basically admitted (explicitly and implictly through your actions) that you aren't here to argue or debate, you're hear to preach. And I have no respect for that and thus I have no respect for you. I have no inclination to "be better" in my dealings with you.

But you are free to change that.

Yeah, I would say a person that says he doesn't call people names because he's so charitable then equates them to drug users because they don't adopt the same philosophical premises as him is sanctimonious.

Grahf imbues himself with divine healing energy.

Snerp creeps up on the mound while imbuing Roberts with heroic aplumb.

With Grahf out of the way, the mount then lashes out at Roberts and Eikka attempting to keep them at bay, but does no damage. As the flames continue to flicker along its hide it squeezes its internal organs, attempting to crush Grahf, who through sheer force of will is able to remain alive and conscious.

[Grahf Constitution Save: d20 (20) + 2 = 22, Saved!]

Roberts, feeling much more heroic, slashes at the mound with his dual weapons.

[Melee Weapon Attack (with Bardic Inspiration): d20 (10) + d6 (4) + 5 = 19, Hit!]
[Longsword Damage: d8 (3) + 3 = 6 slashing damage]
[Melee Weapon Attack: d20 (20) + 5 = 25, Critical Hit!]
[Shortsword Damage: 2d6 (6, 5) = 11 piercing damage]

Eikka continues to harmlessly push against the mound with her shield.

[Melee Weapon Attack: d20 (12) = 12, Miss!]

Grahf continues to press his attacks, hacking away at the plant creature.

[Melee Weapon Attack: d20 (11) + 5 = 16, Hit!]
[Longsword Damage: 1d10 (8) + 3 = 11 slashing damage]

Snerp strums in inspirational tune to help out Roberts while simultaneously assault the mound with psychic insults, but they do not seem to have any effect.

The mound emits a horrible rumbling sound and slams its tendrils against Grahf, wrapping around him and pulling him into its bulk. The flames continue on its exterior, but do minor damage.

[Grahf takes 14 bludgeoning damage, and is grappled by the shambling mound. He finds himself unable to see, breathe, or move. You can use your action to try and escape.]

Roberts and Eikka rush (dash) and close the distance to the mound to attempt to save their comrade who has suddenly disappeared from view.

The end comes! Death, be praised! The end comes! Death, be praised!

Grahf musters his courage and thrusts his longsword into the mound, and a great portion of it sloughs off. A disturbing rumbling comes from within the creature.

[Melee Weapon Attack: d20 (20) + 5 = 25, Critical Hit!]
[Longsword Damage: 2d10 (6, 5) + 3 = 14 slashing damage]

Snerp hurtles the alchemist fire at the mound. The glass shatters and the fire courses over its exterior, but only singes it a bit.

[Ranged Weapon Attack: d20 (14) + 4 = 18, Hit!]
[Alchemist Fire Damage: d4 (4) = 4/2 = 2 fire damage]

The mound flails its appendages uselessly.

Roberts climbs up the stairs and swings his swords at one of the chanters. His weapons pass through as if air and the chanter continues on, giving no notice to Roberts.

The end comes! Death, be praised! The end comes! Death, be praised!

Eikka fires and misses the mound.

Ah, so the real issue is you don't even know what the principle of charity is. Suffice it to say, you aren't adhering to it.

After pulling his pants up, Grahf rushes at the pile of refuse and waste and slashes at it with his longsword. He carves out a deep groove and pits of debris and detritus spill onto the floor.

[Melee Weapon Attack: d20 (14) + 5 = 19, Hit!]
[Longsword Damage: d10 (7) + 3 = 10 slashing damage]

Snerp recognizes that this is in fact a large plant known as a shambling mound.

HP: High
AC: High
STR, CON: High
DEX, WIS: Average
INT, CHA: Low
He uses prestidigitation to light the lantern. The room is now brighter than it was before.

[Intelligence (Nature) Check: d20 (16) = 16]

Two leafy appendages snake out from the "body" of the mound and slam into Grahf, but he parries them away with his sword.

Roberts tosses a spear at on of the chanters. It passes through and clanks uselessly against the back wall.

The end comes! Death, be praised! The end comes! Death, be praised!

Eikka fires a crossbow bolt into the mound, but the mound swallows it up.

The second one of the party members steps off the Dias, the chant changes. Lorghoth the Decayer, we awaken thee! The pile of refuse in the corner rises up and begins approaching the characters!

COMBAT BEGINS!

(This one is potentially more complicated, so I have to wait a few hours to get the maps ready, but right now, Snerp and Grahf are on the Dias, Eikka and Roberts are by the exit. You can formulate your initial actions)
