@Wylted
I believe the title of the debate fell under the definition of "personal attack" as the CoC defines it.
The excuse that you did it as "good marketing" to drum up participation and voting is merely an "ends justify the means" rationale for which no exception is granted in the CoC.
Hypothetical interpretations are irrelevant: that's not how it was actually interpreted. Engaging in violating behavior as a prank or to make a point is still violating behavior (see "The Just Kidding Excuse).

As opposed to being high-handed?
Yes, absolutely. The rules as written should be enforced as written without regards to how people feel about them. Individual discretion should be kept at a minimum.
If the rules are unacceptable, then they should change, certainly, but whatever the rules are, those should be the rules that are enforced. If were not going to enforce the rules, why have them?
It's a no-win.... you can please some of the people all of the time.. etc.
Exactly! And there are only two things you can do in that scenario:
1. Focus on a subset of the people whose opinions you care about and focus only on pleasing them.
2. Don't focus on pleasing anyone.
Clearly in the context of moderation of a website #2 is the only acceptable option.

They don't and the debate should have been deleted anyway regardless of either user's consent.
But the mod team here has opted to voluntarily neuter itself as their style of moderation. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you mean something else, I'd be curious as to what would constitute as "indirect" urging of violence that would merit blame 😮.
My use of directness was more in regards to the attenuation between "cause" and "effect." That is, The source of the call for violence was removed/distanced from the people that implement it.
Direct: I tell you, directly, to go cause violence (whether or not I specify a specific target)
Indirect: I shout out "go cause violence" and you hear about it on TV (whether or not I specify a specific target)

Roberts, Grahf, et. al.
They take Arrabelle back to her camp. Luvash and Arrigal are still in the main tent, drinking and conversing when they walk in. Alexi is off to one side nursing his wounds. Luvash bolts up right when he sees Arrabelle and they embrace each other. Arrabelle tells her father what happened and Luvash dispatches Arrigal with a look. Grimly, Arrigal leaves the tent.
Luvahs turns to Roberts (and others).
Luvash: You have my gratitude, strangers. And the gratitude of a Vistana is no small thing. I grant you ownership of the horses you borrowed earlier, and you may have your pick from our treasure wagon.
He leads out outside to one of the barrel-topped wagons. Unlike the others, there are no noises coming from it and it is locked with a pad lock. Luvash unlocks the pad lock and opens the door. Inside is:
- A wooden chest filled with electrum pieces (each containing the visage of Strahd)
- An smaller iron chest filled with unmarked gold pieces (about half as many coins as above)
- An onyx jewelry box with gold filigree containing 3 diamonds and 3 bags of diamond powder.
- A wooden throne with gold inlay and decorative stones.
- A rolled up rug with an exquisite unicorn motif
- A small wooden box containing twelve unmarked potions.
Snerp (and whoever)
Snerp quickly heads back to the lake, hopping in a boat and rowing out toward Bluto. He is still fishing. Though he still does not acknowledge anything else, he is now softly crying, muttering something about being unable to catch any fish.

Again, blaming violence on an independent actor unless they are directly inciting it is not sensible. That's what I'm saying, and that's what's going on on both sides.
For legal blame, sure. But legal blame is the last line of defense. Other kinds of blame, such as social blame, or moral blame, or political blame, necessarily has a much lower standard.
For example, Maxine Waters would not be to blame if one of her supporters acted violently against a representative, despite her urging confrontation, she wasn't urging violent confrontation.
Agreed. But if they are urging violent confrontation, then I would say they are to blame, even if it wasn't "direct."
So if a nutjob takes that further and violently attacks a representative, that's on the person who acted violently, not her. As her call was to protest, not violently attack.
Blame is not a 0-sum game. Saying that a person is to blame doesn't mean other people aren't also to blame.
The blame game just ends in both sides looking shitty basically.
I think there is a lot of false equivocation here. For example, comparing people urging non-violent protests being compared equally to people encouraging violence at almost every opportunity.
Not that you're doing that.

That it's a funny picture regardless of context and I give a sensible chuckle.
What do you think it's trying to communicate?
That each side blames the other, ignoring the real threat behind them: the police. (j/k on that last part).
