Restricting gun rights *check*Going to raise taxes *(corporate *check* income *check*)*Legalize late term abortion (doubt they would have the balls try it nationally, so I'll give you that one)
- Restricting gun rights: He only wants universal background checks and an eventual ban on assault weapons.
- Raising taxes: He is ONLY raising taxes on people whose income is over 400K a year (don't know much about corporate taxes, so I won't comment there).
- Late-term abortion: It has nothing to do with "the balls to try it". They don't believe in it! No one does! (I'm not saying there isn't some wierdo faction out there).
As for restricting gun rights . . . . aren't you SICK of school shootings and Walmart massacres? No one wants to take your gun to defend your home or to make anyone stop hunting. They just want to stop the ability of some sicko to mow down 15 people in 30 seconds. THIS IS JUST COMMON SENSE. Major assault weapons are for the military. That is who they were designed for!

Joe Biden is not the President-Elect. Sure, the media has given that crown, but it's paper and gold paint. It's not even as official as the Burger King crown. Joe Biden stands before a background blazoned with "Office of the President-Elect," complete with seal, but there is no such office. It's a charade. It's sleight-of-hand. There is no President-Elect by popular vote, and there never has been since Geo Washington. The Constitution says otherwise. Title3 U.S.C. §7 says otherwise. The Electoral College meets on the Monday following the second Wednesday of December, the 14th, by which time, the 8th, the States have ALL submitted their certified election results. Media be damned, only then is the President-Elect designated. Just because we now have a minute-by-minute news cycle, we didn't with Washington's first election of 1793, and it makes no bloody difference now. Anything else is blowing up a wish balloon. Save your breath.
SOUR GRAPES?
Everyone knows this. People have been shouting it from the rooftops. Biden is only the "APPARENT" President-Elect, just like Trump was in 2016 at about the same time. No one is saying it wasn't a close race. Geez! Yes, we have an electoral college. If we didn't, Trump WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN President. Can't you just allow people to celebrate the "APPARENT" win?

It’s simple. Cancel Culture. The average college undergrad is afraid to talk about liking Trump for the fear of losing their jobs, friends, and even family. I’m a college student at one of the most liberal colleges in the nation. I’m genuinely afraid that if I say something about Trump, I will be penalized in terms of my grades. In my Instagram and Snapchat feeds, all I see is liberals saying if you support Trump, unfriend me. I have yet to see a conservative say that.
Cancel Culture? I hate it. And, for the record, I hate extreme PC culture too. I dislike having to CONSTANTLY edit absolutely everything I say. It's exhausting. But, of course, I do make a distinction between racial slurs and being called out for using the word "stupid" in reference to a malfunctioning printer (it WAS stuuuuuuuuuuuupid --- I don't care what Kelly from HR said!).
But seriously, I'm sorry you have that experience. I have the exact opposite where I am. At work I'm usually okay. I work in tech and a lot of us are moderate or liberal. But outside of work, wow! I once got in a HUGE argument with some guys at the DMV simply because one of them overheard me say Biden's name to my friend standing next to me. He told his friends and they all moved toward me and an argument ensued. We were kicked out. I tried to walk to my car . . . but NO, they followed me. It wasn't until the manager of the DMV came back out and threatened to call the police that they finally left me alone.
Needless to say, I didn't celebrate in the streets when Biden became the President-Elect.
But do you really think that is the biggest reason people voted for Trump?

Donors who worked for Facebook and Google skewed 97%-3% for Biden. Apple was 92%-8%. Amazon was a mere 80%-20%. These companies are definitely left wing bastions, and if right wingers use them successfully it is absolutely against the wishes of those who own and work for those companies. They've been cracking down on right wing speech pretty rapidly lately.
I have been reading the discussion between you and Danielle. And yes, Hollywood and California do have a bit of a monopoly culturally. But Hi-Tech? They may vote liberally, but they allowed Trump to spout his lies all over their platforms because they believe in Freedom of Speech. I, personally, think that when it comes to voting --- nothing should be published that is an objective lie. I'm not talking about subjective crap like "I am the better choice" or "Make America Great Again". I mean facts. There should be a bi-partisan fact checking MEDIA group that works in real-time. I know I am dreaming. But damn, you get one set of "facts" from one news outlet and another from Fox News (ummm . . . I mean . . . and another from a different news outlet). Seriously, just teasing here. But I wish there was an Associated Press (AP) News type deal for major elections. ONE FACT-CHECKED SOURCE.
My point is this. Despite the "cultural" control you talk about, it was Trump's misinformation that got the most attention. He and Tucker and Hannity and podcasts like InfoWars DOMINATED social media. People who work for Tech companies (like myself) are generally moderate to liberal -- this is TRUE. But, we will defend Freedom of Speech to the end.

I'm not sure what you mean by "good reasons"???

its that Trump targeted these exact voters thus dems demonized them, they have also promoted welfare and the destabilization of the familyits a combination of many things that lead these voters to support trump,
I'm not sure about the welfare thing or the destabilization of the family, but there is truth to the idea that Democrats demonized the "Trump Base". It wasn't so wise of the dems to put Trump supporters down as "ignorant" or "beneath them". I grimaced a little each time I heard that. But they were hurling many, many hateful things as well. I saw T-Shirts that read "I'D RATHER BE A RUSSIAN THAN A DEMOCRAT". Really? Honestly?
I'm Independent, but my Democrat friends VERY MUCH believe in family . . . . they just believe in family for EVERYONE!

I’m hoping that a new consensus emerges and we move more towards an economy like Germany has where it’s a modern society but they still have a lot of industry and don’t try to pigeonhole everybody into going to college
Sorry. Forgot to answer this. I ABSOLUTELY agree with this. People spend years developing "mad skills" and we treat that by condescending and belittling. I think there should be automatic degrees given for people who spend years honing a specific set of skills. If you cannot afford college, then "work years earned" should come into play. It might take a hell of a lot longer, but this way you are always working TOWARD something --- toward something you earned and should be recognized for. There should be other caveats as well, but you get the idea.

NAFTA was a bipartisan effort but with rare exceptions it’s now republicans who are fighting for the worker on trade, which is a massive deal in states like Ohio, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. President Donald Trumps efforts to fight for American workers on this front have been mostly ineffectual but the gesture is important. I’m hoping that a new consensus emerges and we move more towards an economy like Germany has where it’s a modern society but they still have a lot of industry and don’t try to pigeonhole everybody into going to college
I was born and raised in Ohio and I still don't understand them.
My parents worked in factories. My mother re-married a farmer. He voted for Biden because of what Trump did with China. I'm not aware of many farmers who were in favor of Trump. But boy, the construction workers, the factory workers, the department and grocery store workers, the truck drivers, the secretaries, the working-class protestants . . . etc . . To me, it seemed fairly simple. Whenever I asked, I got short sentences in response like, "Biden wants to take our freedom away" or "Biden is going to raise taxes" or "Democrats will legalize late term abortion". And they "seemed" to believe these things, even though they are not true. To me, it seemed like they believed them because Trump was charismatic and the Democrats MOST CERTAINLY were, and are, NOT!
I guess I wanted to know if there was more to it than that. Did all these people ONLY watch Fox News? Were they responding to Trump's drama and emotionalism or to his actual intention of acting in their best interests? Did they really think Dr. Fauci should be "fired" like they chanted? . . . or that Obama should be "locked up"? Would they like someone to chant that about them with no proof? JUST WHO WERE THESE PEOPLE WITH TORCHES? Oh my God! They were from Ohio? Ohhhhhh Nooooooooooooooo!
You see my delimma?

Ohio is pretty much ground zero for the Democratic betrayal of the working class. It’s GONE until the next realignment comes
I'm probably going to regret this, but how have the Democrats betrayed the working class in Ohio?
I live in Ohio. I am college educated. But, I really DO want to know what betrayals you are talking about. They must be there and I'm just not seeing them. I am still trying to understand the white working class fascination with Trump (aside from his "public" stance on abortion). It seems to me that Trumpism works well for the rich, but behind the scenes it doesn't seem to really help the working class very much. They still had to work 2 and 3 jobs to make ends meet. He was trying to take away any pretense of an "affordable" healthcare plan (not saying Obamacare was a great plan -- but it allowed for preconditions and was affordable for my mother).
I know a lot of people in Ohio who voted for Biden. But everywhere I went, I saw nothing but Trump signs. People kept saying that Biden wanted to raise taxes. I heard that a lot! But it just wasn't true, unless of course you made over 400K a year. I heard a lot of conspiracies. What I want to know now is the truth. I'm an Independent. I, obviously, voted for Biden. But I really want to know more about these "SHY" Trump voters and why they exist. I truly do not understand. I hope Ohio isn't lost. But Democrats better start paying attention to the white working class.

@sadolite
Hmm "theories are facts" I went to a different school than you, I was never taught a theory was fact. Guess that's what they teach kids now, explains a lot.
Just a question really: Isn't the Theory of Relativity still a theory? It is VERY consistent with the evidence (when it comes to everything NOT sub-atomic -- i.e. Quantum Mechanics), but it is still just a theory. It is treated like fact because it is so accurate. For that matter, the Theory of Evolution is still a theory too. Just ask the people in the Religion threads.
So I'm just asking. Is it TRUE or NOT TRUE --- that theories which "appear" to be accurate (based on the preponderance of evidence) are treated like fact until a new theory arises to prove it false or incomplete?
In other words, Trump has every right to try to disprove the "theory" of Biden's presidential win; he does not have the right to say that HE WON until the preponderance of evidence supports his "theory" of a presidential win!

WOW!!
Danielle --- just WOW! That rap battle was awesome.
I have not been around much lately, because whenever I am here in this forum, I spend hours locked in "respectfully-attempted-on-my-part" battle with the Trump followers -- who seem to descend on me like fresh meat at a vulture Super-Spreader Trump Rally (I exclude Greyparrot, who really did try to give me a chance -- and who spoke with both intelligence and logic, despite sub-textually "almost" calling me, and others, a Marxist). I just logged in briefly to say that -- WE WON! WE WON! WE WON! We WOOoooooooooNNNN!!!!! But Danielle and Rational Madman's rap was truly OUTSTANDING. I laughed and laughed and laughed.
Honestly, I thought I might never seriously laugh again. But I intend to laugh for at least 4 years now!
For the 55%-56% of white women who voted for Trump, I am truly ashamed. I am a white woman. I feel as if they voted for dictatorship over democracy, the KKK and hate over Civil Rights and acceptance. Castin said she felt like they voted for Cancer over Health. BUT THANK YOU TO THE 96% OF BLACK WOMEN WHO MADE BIDEN'S WIN A REALITY FOR US ALL!! You are not just the backbone of the democratic party, you are the backbone of DEMOCRACY when it comes to 2020.-I am a liberal-leaning Independent, but THANK YOU DEMOCRATS, THANK YOU BLACK WOMEN!!
Okay, one last time (forgive me Greyparrot, ILikePie5 and fauxlaw) --- ORANGE MAN REALLY IS BAD! WE WON! WE WON! WE WON!

Joe Biden is simply a very GOOD man.If his policies are bad for America, being a good man means nothing to me.
They may not all be good, but for me, most of them are. He is "promising" to do things I have long hoped for. I don't know that he will do them. But, at this point, I would probably vote for a paper sack over Trump. Foreign Policy alone would be better with a paper sack. I'm being silly, but I've gotta go. I've rather enjoyed talking to you tonight. Surprised me a little. I hope I can get on again tomorrow. Ciao!

You don’t even have his tax returns lol. NYT refuses to release the records they supposedly obtained. You clearly don’t have a Business degree and don’t know how accounting works. Maybe take a class about it first rather than listening to the word of 3 “journalists” who probably haven’t done accounting or even math since college
New York Times:
This time around, he is personally responsible for loans and other debts totaling $421 million, with most of it coming due within four years. Should he win re-election, his lenders could be placed in the unprecedented position of weighing whether to foreclose on a sitting president.

Trump is the only president that had to endure over 10 years of IRS audits. I don't blame him for not showing his returns.
I apologize and stand corrected:
NEW YORK TIMES:
Also hanging over him is a decade-long audit battle with the Internal Revenue Service over the legitimacy of a $72.9 million tax refund that he claimed, and received, after declaring huge losses. An adverse ruling could cost him more than $100 million.

Maybe if Pelosi had Impeached the president on Bribery instead of "Obstruction of Congress," it wouldn't have been laughed at.Obstruction of Congress is a bullshit charge to impeach a President considering it is the president's constitutional obligation to keep the Congress from having absolute power.
Oh I absolutely agree with you there. I couldn't believe it when I heard it. I was so furious with Nancy Pelosi. It was absolutely bribery! I get angry at democrats a lot sometimes when they act like they have no spine at all. I will say, they seem to have finally grown a "small pair" lately. I hope it lasts. The past 4 years it has always seemed like such an unfair fight, like watching a bully pick on the skinniest, weakest kid on the playground.

It's possible he has 400 million dollars in unpaid debts, and it is possible Lady thinks that it means Trump has no assets. For Trump, 400 million dollars of debt would be like owing 4000 dollars to a credit card company to you and me.
Not according to his tax returns reported in the New York Times. His properties are losing money (hence his push to have foreign diplomats stay at his properties). He has also had to pay millions in court fees and compensation because of court cases like his "fraudulent charity" case and his paid-for-but-never built condominiums. I think he has much less than you think. He only paid $750.00 dollars in total taxes each year in 2016 and 2017. Who pays that little? Just because his deals involve large dollar amounts, does mean he makes any money. You know he's had several bankruptcies (6 between 1991 and 2009). His businesses keep failing. He talk a big story. He uses other people's money build flashy things and then files for bankruptcy and leaves everyone hanging.

The actual truth is the person with the most power in America is the Leader of the Senate followed by the Speaker of the House. The President is, and always has been, the 3rd most powerful person in Government. If you read the powers outlined by the Constitution, you would know this.
Oh, I am well aware. That is why Trump decided to lock all 3 supposedly EQUAL BRANCHES up in his pocket. He hired an Attorney General who until these last couple of weeks has done Trump's every bidding, including letting criminals walk because they had dirt on Trump. A.G. Barr is a disgrace and is wholly owned by Trump. Mitch McConnell says he won't even bring a bill to the floor unless the President says he will sign it. Mitch executes Trump's every whim with what seems like glee. At the Impeachment, he rallied his troops and wouldn't even allow witnesses. Is that even ANYTHING like justice? To not even listen . . . ? He laughed about it on live television before the President had even been Impeached in the House.
So what started out as 3 EQUAL branches, is now just Trump and his two "Supplicants". Nancy Pelosi is the only non-trinity in the bunch. But she is NOT the Senate. She did her job. She impeached him. But the Justice System looked the other way. The Senate looked the other way. They knew Trump was wrong. They said "He has learned his lesson." Boy were they wrong. Now Trump is demanding on Fox that they lock Biden, Obama and Hillary up. Really? Still with the Hillary?
The Constitution has been mocked in this Administration. The Republican Party has been crushed and rebranded as the Trump Party under this Administration.
There seems to be no Separation of Powers anymore. The only people who get hurt are people like me . . . relative nobodies . . . who still believe in truth and decency.
Okay. I'll step off of my soapbox now . . . for a little while anyway --- lol.

An unabashed GREED for MONEYYou have that 100% wrong. Donald Trump has repeatedly said he doesn't do what he does for the money, or he wouldn't be turning down his presidential salary. He has also repeatedly said that money is not the motivation; it's merely a by product. Know that I know what he's talking about, because I've been doing what I do for forty years, and let's just say I don't have to work anymore; I couldn't spend it all in the time I've left, but I do work. I enjoy what I do. That I am paid for it, is just a by-product. Meanwhile, my money works for me, too. Meanwhile, your party is pushing min wage. Why have such a low goal? There's no ceiling on the money supply, regardless of what Oba'a told you. He's wrong.
Hmmmmm . . . you cannot spend it all huh? . . . weeeell . . . I am always in need of it . . . you lucky bastard (and by luck I mean hard work -lol).
About Trump not doing what he does for money. Donald Trump says that, yes. And in a way it is true. HE DOES IT FOR THE POWER. Then he does it for the money. At first he just didn't want to give the White House access to his taxes, so he didn't take the paycheck. But then he used all of the power of the presidency to funnel foreign money into his bank accounts. He got them to stay at his hotels, his golf courses. He tried to move the G7 to his resort (despite the Emoluments Clause). He tried to use his ambassador to Britain, Robert Wood Johnson IV, to help steer the lucrative British Open golf tournament to his golf course. Despite all this, he is over 400 million dollars in debt. He admitted to this in an interview. Money is EVERYTHING to Trump. He has built his life around it.
You may have money. But you don't go around bragging about constantly. You know Trump does this incessantly. His ego needs to brag. It is who he is.

The best Biden video that exists is the one in which he says, "I will beat Joe Biden." I have analyzed the audio [I have the eqpt because one of my freelance contracts is doing voiceovers], and I can do detailed analysis of vocal production, and there is, in slo-mo, a definitive 't' on the end of "bea...", by exacting voiceprint trace, whereas the media immediately went into apology mode for Hidin Biden' claiming he said "I will be Joe Biden." They ignore that such apology is even worse. "I will be Joe Biden?" It is what prompted me to ask, with no valid response, "Who will be President if Joe Biden is elected, since he is not now Joe Biden, according to MSM.
Joe Biden is simply a very GOOD man. He is experienced, intelligent, QUALIFIED, caring and decent. He is also in his 70s. So is Trump. Joe talks slowly and makes mistakes because of his stuttering problem, a problem that he has always had and will always have. Why would you use this as an argument of any kind?

Watch the video it shows a catheter injecting light..it's an experimental technology that Trump was asking about, and then CNN decided to make up a story to get you upset.
I have to admit, the video was AMAZING. That was incredibly cool.
However (come on --- you knew that was coming -lol) . . . . . A catheter is NOT an injection. But if you are saying Trump confused a catheter with an injection, then maybe I understand. But if he really meant a catheter and light, instead of detergent and an injection, why didn't he say that later? Instead he said he was just being "sarcastic". Why didn't he say he was talking about the detergent-like effect of light sent down a catheter into the lungs?
No, he didn't say that. He said he was joking, that it was just a sarcastic question to the reporters (and then later a question to his COVID task force).

He is constantly screaming that he won't fund democratically governed states in the stimulus release bill. He says COVID-19 is only rampant in America because of democrat-led states. It is HIS rhetoric that put the Michigan Governor's life at risk . . . and still he stoke the flames of hate. If one of his republican senators says something he doesn't like, he calls them a democrat. He called Dr. Fauci a democrat, which he is NOT. He makes half the country (anyone who is not a republican) feel unwelcome, unsafe and unfunded. He blames EVERY failure of the republican-led Congress on the democrats. He doesn't even take a little of the blame. It takes 2 political parties to reach an impasse, not 1. Again, WE ARE ALL AMERICANS, not just the republicans.

Trump:
“I see disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute, one minute, and is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside, or almost a cleaning. Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that."
Trump later claimed he said that sarcastically, in the same way he claimed, after Helsinki, that he really didn't say "I don't see why they (Russia) would (interfere in our election)?" and claimed instead, that he said, "I don't see why they wouldn't?".

Like always, Trump talks around his subject, talking in vague generalities and using using words that seem associated to his subject, but in no particularly logical order. I find your ability to defend an idiot remarkable. Take the compliment.

it might be worse than you think. Democrats are more likely to take the pandemic seriously than republicans. So more democrats are likely to use mail in ballots. Which means that on election night trump might be winning, but then the mail in ballots get counted and he he loses. He will try to use that as evidence of fraud. And millions of his cult followers will believe it.
I'm painfully aware. I am planning to vote in person, but I know many, many people who have already voted by mail. It makes me very nervous (some of that 2016 PTSD coming back). That is why I hope Biden wins by a landslide; but Trump supporters seem (Legion) sometimes (just a joke).

But he didn’t say people should drink bleach.
No, he said they should inject it.

Thank you, lady3keys, for repeating the mantra of others’ talking points, without a single original thought. Try it, sometime. I know you will not.
Please. I'm not writing fiction; I'm discussing past events and facts. You may see them differently (subjectively) and that is your right. But I was merely stating things that "actually happened", not why they happened or even if they "should have happened". The world has watched Trump for the past 4 years. I doubt anyone could say anything at all ---- that hasn't been seen, spoken or discussed (in detail) by others. And you can certainly defend your point of view without criticizing a person's ability to have an original thought.

- Told people to inject themselves with bleach to cure COVID-19.
Nah fam. CNN told you that was what Trump said. CNN hearsay is reliably unreliable.
Sorry Guys. I watched this press conf. myself. I heard exactly what he said.
- Had someone else take his college SAT's for him.
Said by a Trump-hater (his niece) without evidence of course.
Wrong again. Trump's niece gave the press a tape of Trump's sister (her aunt) saying that Trump didn't take his own SATs.
- Supports QANON and thier conspiracy theories(that democrats and Hollywood have an underground kiddie sex ring and are cannibals).
Another lie. He said he doesn’t know much about them.
The "latest" thing he said his that he doesn't know much about them. He has made several statements about them, specifically that he likes them because he heard they like him. He also put in an endorsement for a QANON candidate running for the House of Reps.
- Claimed to put "America First", but ended up eliminating all of our allies and turning us into "America Alone".
With "allies" like those, who needs enemies?
WE NEED ALLIES. Without them, we lose leverage, we lose political AND financial influence all over the WORLD!
- Has been named as Individual 1 in a conviction, alongside Michael Cohen.
I don’t even know what this means lol. Micheal Cohen admitted he perjured. Unreliable witness.
It means that Michael Cohen went to prison for doing something ILLEGAL FOR TRUMP. I'm not defending Cohen. He's an asshole. But the money was for Trump's mistress. And Cohen only perjured himself to protect Trump. At any rate, Cohen deserved what he got because he "aided and abetted", but the real criminal was Trump!

I don't have time to answer everything you guys both said in your posts. Suffice to say, most of what you said was (TO ME ONLY) either incorrect or largely subjective. HERE IS THE TRUTH FOR ME: I want to recognize my country again. I want America to stop being pitied, to be respected again. I want the US to have influence around the world again. Right now I am deeply embarrassed. DEEPLY.
I want Trump's reckless disregard for life to be a thing of the past. I want democrats and republicans to respect each other again. I want a president who serves ALL OF AMERICA, not just the states with republican governors. I want Putin to stay out of our American elections! I want my democracy back! I know you two disagree with me, but there it is.
I still have PTSD from 2016, so who knows who will win. But I pray to the Multiverses (lol) that it is Biden!

I just love it when a website filled to the brim with men use the word "bitch" perjoritively. Really, it just knocks my socks off.Trump has created enough misogyny. Surely we don't need to add more.
Really? I didn't mind so much. Trump IS a misogynist, but that is precisely why it felt so entirely appropriate to call him a bitch. He didn't say "lose like a girl". He said "lose like a bitch". I don't know. I took it at its intended "macro" meaning. I really liked it.

If Biden loses people will get angry, but my intuition is that he'll probably handle it alright. It'll be a normal loss... Biden will give some kind of speech, etc.If Trump loses it'll probably be a shitshow.
It is going to be a shitshow alright. Unless Biden wins by a landslide, Trump will scream "FRAUDULENT BALLOTS" and try to insist that the "packed" , republican, Supreme Court decide who becomes President, instead of the People. According to Michael Cohen's book (understandably a bit questionable), Trump said, "It doesn't matter how they vote. It only matters who counts the votes." God, I hope that idea doesn't materialize in reality.
I know that Trump has a lot of cases pending against him. They haven't been "officially filed" because of the FBI rule about "not indicting a sitting President". So he can't afford to lose. Also, he owes over 400 million dollars! That will come due the minute he isn't President. Because of this and much more, I know he will do absolutely EVERYTHING he can to stay in the White House.

@fauxlaw
YES! YES! YES! I AM VOTING FOR BIDEN.
First, thank you HistoryBuff for answering some of those strange Biden assumptions listed in the OP.
I would also like to remind Fauxlaw that Biden overcame a huge stuttering problem in his youth. He has made mistakes (gaffs) like those mentioned in the OP, throughout his entire political career. They are part of a problem he still struggles with (not making excuses here, just an explanation). But as for your post, I would like to respond in kind. YOU REALLY WANT TO VOTE FOR TRUMP?
Trump:
- Claimed to put "America First", but ended up eliminating all of our allies and turning us into "America Alone".
- Has an absolute and complete deference for, and subjugation to, dictators like Kim Jong Un and Vladimir Putin
- Withdrew from the Paris Accords and eliminated our ability to share and participate in Climate Change solutions with the rest of the world.
- Withdrew from the Iran Nuclear Deal and jump-started the acceleration of their nuclear plans.
- Is in court now, trying to eliminate the Affordable Care Act and its enforcement of health coverage for preexisting conditions --- IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC.
- Withheld millions from Ukraine in the middle of a war with Russia --- contingent on getting dirt to hurt Biden's campaign.
- Paid off multiple mistresses, most famously a porn star --- using political campaign funds!
- Is currently over 400 million dollars in debt --- which make him a National Security Threat!
- Took children away from their mothers, hundreds of which, have never been returned because they got lost in the system.
- Turned on the Kurds after they fought and died with the United States (in our fight against ISIS) --- allowing a dictator from Turkey to kill thousand of them.
- Withdrew from the Trans Pacific Partnership that was created by the United States to screen countries like China, and force them to be more open and fair.
- Withdrew from the World Health Organization in the middle of a Pandemic.
- Made it possible for billionaires to pay NO TAXES.
- Has been named as Individual 1 in a conviction, alongside Michael Cohen.
- HAS BEEN IMPEACHED!
- Called Africa a "shit-hole country".
- Said "The blacks are too stupid to vote for me".
- Cheated his own niece out of her dead father's inheritance.
- Had someone else take his college SAT's for him.
- Threatened to sue his college and high school if they ever released his transcripts.
- Said it was okay to "grab 'em by the pus*y" if you're rich.
- Told people to inject themselves with bleach to cure COVID-19.
- Refuses to call out white supremacists.
- Supports QANON and thier conspiracy theories (that democrats and Hollywood have an underground kiddie sex ring and are cannibals).
- PUTS POLITICS ABOVE HEALTH and has abhorrently managed the world's biggest pandemic in decades!
- The list goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on
I just got tired of writing. But this is just why I am NOT voting for Trump.

He's going to squirm like a maggot and I'm going to laugh my ass off.
Sooooooooooooooooooooooo refreshing!!! I've been gone from the forum for a little while. It always felt a bit like being besieged by a group of very aggressive cult members. But tonight I signed on for just a second --- and I saw your post! I'm not saying that Biden was my pick in the Primary, because he wasn't. But next to his intellectually vacuous, politically incompetent and socially infantile GOP competitor --- he is a shining light on a hill!

@3RU7AL
The grandmaster may find themselves at times facing two or three "best moves" that may seem equally likely to provide a "win".Only in these rare cases would the grandmaster imagine they have a "free" choice. And functionally, the choice between two (apparently) equal "best moves" is equivalent to a coin-flip (indistinguishable from random). Is this the type of decision that would allow for "freewill"?
BTW, I love "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost. Also, "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening".
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
___________________________________
As for the chess game. I'm not really sure.
If the experienced player truly has 3 "apparently" equal "win" moves AND reading the other player's face, nervous tics, personality type etc . . . is of no use since the player's moves are random (I'm assuming the "unconstrained by knowledge" player is constrained by the rules of chess), then the only other "causes" to consider might be either the experienced player's preferences (possibly based on which moves have historically led to more wins), how he felt that day (physically or emotionally) OR how a random event or events affected him (like his chair making a sudden cracking sound). All of these would still amount to no free will though, even the random event. But if he filmed the event, noticed how he reacted and then set about reprogramming his automatic reactions. That might involve reprogramming or partial free will, even though the cause would be "becoming a better player" against a "random move" opponent.

Accepting a proposition that cannot be demonstrated and that would appear to be logically inconsistent is the opposite of skepticism.
I speak of skepticism in the INFORMAL use of the word. Based on the below definitions, I am skeptical of free will (in its typical accepted meaning) as I am of many other things. I still believe in reprogramming and I think I have demonstrated examples of this. In the FORMAL sense, I may not have accomplished as much, certainly not to your satisfaction. I will have to do some serious research, since I am not as familiar as you are, about formal philosophical terms. But I promise, i will keep learning.
skep·ti·cism
/ˈskeptəˌsizəm/
noun
noun: scepticism; noun: skepticism
- 1.a skeptical attitude; doubt as to the truth of something.
OR:
Skepticism
Skepticism or scepticism is generally a questioning attitude or doubt towards one or more putative (generally considered or reputed to be) instances of knowledge which are asserted to be mere belief or dogma.

@3RU7AL
Can you modify your desire to modify your desires?
lol. Certainly. Just get a good friend or family member to give you a painful shock every time you appear to be trying. The real challenge would be in defining what qualifies as "trying". Or better yet, have a shocking device implanted. Program it, with the help of a neurosurgeon, to identify any attempt to reprogram a desire. It wouldn't take long to ensure you never try anything like that again (assuming the neurosurgeon knows how to define "what qualifies as trying" inside your neural network of course).

@secularmerlin
Then why exercise skepticism in every instance except for this one?
I don't know what you mean. I don't really believe in free will the way most people think of it. I don't think choice is a free will action. So, I am seriously skeptical in this regard. I truly believe we are much like the animals in the way our childhoods' program our tendencies. I just keep hoping that our newfound abilities vis-a-vis our prefrontal cortex, allow us to reprogram our tendencies. I am skeptical of even my own ideas. That is why I post them. I just still have hope, in addition to healthy skepticism.
