Thoughts on players from DP1:

Coal: States he's not interested in an airmax lynch (#20) when no such discussion had occurred. Kinda weird start. I kinda want to buy that he doesn't actually know whether it's 7/2 or 6/3. Then again, coal is too smart to think there's a game that reaches LYLO D2, right? The talk about masons (#57) feels quite a bit like he knows it's in that column of the setup. Potential slip here. Maybe it's because it's my slot and I'm hyper aware of it but calling airmax out (#88) for being "conspicuously silent" five hours into the game when airmax hadn't posted yet seems like a subtle attempt to paint the slot in a poor light. Kinda like his frustration throughout the phase with inactive people which can kinda help my

Objectivity: Starts early by making some mechanic talk that's not particularly useful or alignment indicative. His "hey I'm here just don't have anything to say" (#96) feels like he's a little too concerned with his appearance, which I usually think is more true of mafia. Calls oro overeager and asserts that he's driving discussion (#104) when I'd argue oro is doing anything but that. Talks about bussing oro (#106) which is probably just a mis-type but could be a slip in that he knows oro is a bus. If oro flips scum I'd be interested in an objectivity lynch

Zaradi: gives out some weak early townreads

Oro: Feels weird he's throwing out a vote that's explicitly labeled as an RVS vote but he also has reads at that point. Seems to me like if you have reads we're past the point of needing an RVS vote. Even after clarifying that his reads list is based solely on activity that feels weird to me.

I also agree that town was OP. BP and Hider paired could've easily let us coast for a bit. Lynching user was terrible.

Memory: Seeing it live at a small bar last year. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to make it so instead of the $30 ticket I had to pay $80 on a re-selling site. At the time I first fell in love with the song I had a strong desire to move to North Carolina, and the song is centered around the narrator hitchhiking down the east coast to Raleigh, which really struck a chord with me. I also love that the original version by OCMS is very raw and unpolished; they're very talented but some people hate the singer's voice. I personally love its raw authenticity.

An extra little bit is that the refrain was written by Bob Dylan. Two of the band members found a vinyl of unfinished Dylan songs in a record shop, wrote the lyrics, and spent ten years playing it on street corners before recording it. When they contacted Dylan for permission he said he'd adapted it from Arthur Crudup, who had adapted it from "Rock Me Baby" by Big Bill.

I don't know anything about this theme to make a fake claim (in fact, as you can see I thought the ship was my character, when in fact it's the alien race (or maybe both? I don't really know)) so if this is a fake claim it's because it's one Disc provided to me as mafia, which is already a big if considering a lot of mods don't do that.

It's precisely because I have no pressure that I claimed. It is my personal belief that when a role operates counter to the manner people are familiar with it's best to claim early. People tend to be suspicious of such claims.

I realize that I gave mafia information that might be valuable to them, but this also makes me less likely to be mislynched for my role claim being "weird" and therefore scummy in the minds of a lot of people.

Ok so after clarifying with Disc I believe it's in our best interest for me to full claim as the role I have works differently than I remember and than the role list commonly used on the site describes it, so I want to be upfront with it.

I am the hider, and my ship class is Discriminator. Each night I hide behind another player and if they are killed I am killed, but I myself cannot be targeted for a kill as long as my action is successful. I can be targeted for other actions and if I hide behind mafia there aren't any negative impacts of it.

Ok, this is good. I disagree with your logic, but I like that you are thinking about reasons why Ragnar might be mafia.

The reason I don't think your logic is valid is because the vast majority of the time the game moderator (Discipulus_Didicit) randomizes who is what alignment and who is what role. Therefore, Ragnar being town in other games should have no bearing on whether he is town or mafia in this game.

This is not to say that Ragnar is definitively not mafia, but simply that I don't think your reasoning for him being mafia is reliable.

Basically how the game works is this:

There are town players and mafia players. Mafia knows who their teammates are, but town doesn't know who their teammates are. They are informed, but the minority, town is uninformed, but the majority. The goal of the game for town is to find and kill all the mafia players, while mafia's goal is to live long enough that they compose half of the remaining players.

Each "day" the entire group decides on someone to kill. It is majority rules, so in the first day, since there are nine people, five need to vote to kill a player. We "lynch" that player. Each "night" the mafia decides on one player to kill. It could be someone that suspects they are mafia, someone they simply know is a good player, or someone they don't want around for whatever other reason. The cycle then repeats itself. Day, night, day, night, until one of the two win conditions (mafia are all killed or half of the remaining players are mafia) is fulfilled.

Now there are certain "roles" that each player has. Some examples might be the cop, who can each night check whether a person is innocent or guilty. A doctor can pick someone to protect from being killed at night. In the last game you were a vigilante, so each night you could shoot someone you thought was mafia. There are also sometimes limits, which is why in the last game you were described as 1x Vigilante. That means you had one shot to kill someone instead of doing it every night. Most players are usually going to be vanilla, which means that they don't have any special powers and simply have the ability to think about who is behaving funny and vote for them.

So how do you go about playing? Well, if you write posts people can make informed guesses as to your alignment. For example, based on this post you might think "Well warren42 is trying to help out a new player. That seems genuine and like he's trying to help this player learn and win the game. That seems like something a town person would do." You might also think "Hm... Warren42 is trying to help out a new player and get that new player to think he's town, which would help him if he's mafia. He's probably mafia." Finally, you might look at this post and think "Warren42 is trying to help a new player understand the game. This post is not indicative of if he's town or mafia, as he could make a post helping out a new player either way."

If you're mafia, your goal is simply to have at least one of your teammates survive long enough. You want to avoid being suspicious. You also know who is town and who isn't, so you have to pretend you don't and that you're actually trying to determine if a player is town or mafia (like the thought process above.) Let's say you're mafia and Ragnar is town. You want to pretend to be trying to determine if Ragnar is town or mafia by faking a thought process on his posts and behavior.

Essentially mafia try to lie their way through the game while town try to spot the liars.

I'm partial here obviously, but I think that the doctor worlds make the most sense given a vigilante. A doc, vig, and cop seems overpowered, but hated brings it down enough to the point where I think that's a bit unbalanced but certainly possible, especially if we have a godfather.

So why would I protect the person who's hated?

That basically means if mafia is online at start of the next phase they win
