You should try the roller skating again.

I certainly have the high, every time. I also get a “winner's high” when playing sports. Beating others and winning feels great, exerting the body and getting rid of copious amounts of energy and doing something with all the grit is even better.

I love to work out. I get bored and frustrated if I do not get to work out vigorously every day. It has to happen.

Today I went to gym, and I watched a Jordan Peterson video. I was at the gym for almost three hours.

When you exercise, do you not find that you feel better? Isn't this feeling enough to spur you on? I believe you can do it. It is great to finally feel relaxed after pushing yourself to the edge.

Would you consider playing sports?

I would rather live in Iran than Israel, yes.
Why? Tel Aviv loves Pride. There are many people of the bisexual, homosexual, and transexual persuasion in Israel. It is evil.

There is bullying everywhere. In western countries, you are bullied into being liberal, or coerced into being liberal. The insidious nature of western governments is worse than Russia, where the red lines are clearly drawn, and where the Russian comes first.

Western governments are liars.

Does this mean they will do them? Are most of the Muslims inclined to?

The current govt is the result of violent revolt against the former Monarchy.
The last shah was favorable to the west. This is why the west liked him.

Iran went from Monarchic to Islamofascist.
I do not think we know how they would behave without Israeli belligerence. What they do in their country is another matter; it is their own affairs.

I know a lot. Every person I meet assumes I am one of them. I do not need to wear a burqa for them to think I am Arab or Islamic, therefore I know everything about Islam.

Ok, I know about history, which is a complex subject. I feel I also know about people, who are quite simple. Politics tends to constrain us. The Iranian regime is no different from any other government that has had to be tamed in order to exist.

It was their prerogative. A religious explanation was offered for the plight of the Jews, who have rebelled against God many times.

My reports are the primary if not only reason that user got banned.

Jordan Peterson and Christianity

@MayCaesar
Making a statement that seems to align with “postmodernism” does not make one a postmodernist. It is my observation that we are living in a post-truth world. It is Peterson's observation that a dragon can be a metaphor for a struggle, a very real struggle. Being a scientist, Dawkins cannot bring himself to understand.

If you ask him, "Is there more than two genders?", he will instantly say, "No": the discussion is closed for him. But if you ask him, "Is Jesus alive?", then he will say something like, "What do you mean by 'is'?", or "It would take me 5 hours to answer this question".
These are sensible ways to answer. Peterson is a man who has not committed to Christianity in the intellectual sphere, and is therefore not able to say if Christ is alive or not. He has doubts and wants to be objective in his work. I can imagine him thinking that, to the Christian, Christ is alive. Does this mean Christ is walking around in the flesh, on earth, as he did 2000 years ago? This is not what the Bible says. Christ ascended to Heaven, yet he is here with us.

I am from the south of Russia. It is warm in the south, and quite free. In many ways you are freer than you are in a western country. There are less social interferences in Russia. The family is respected and government does not get involved in private affairs. You can live in Russian countryside and be very free.

It is seen as less desirable because incomes are lower.

Most of the time what he says has no substance and is just dancing around the real issue. His conversation with Dawkins where he tried to argue that dragons are as real as lions was painful to listen to.
The dragon mythology was an explanation for the discovery of dinosaur bones over the years. A dragon is a predator resembling a large reptile able to breathe fire. This is when the human used to tell stories and use their imagination.

I am sure it was real to those who believed it for so long. It resembles a dinosaur, a snake, and it breathes fire. All of these things exist. Peterson is able to expand his mind and think about this, whereas others like to stay in their box and pretend they know it all.

Peterson is not a Christian because he's not that stupid.
Peterson has doubts, yet he is able to grasp Christianity in a way many cannot. He understands that it is about reaching what the flawed human views as impossible; the Christian way of being is a profound transcendence.

It is apparent he does not want his beliefs to interfere with his work, whatever they may be.

Where were you in 2024? Did you go on an extended vacation and not pay attention to US election?

Trump is planning, if elected, to implement a historically restrictive US immigration agenda starting in 2025. He promises to carry out the "largest domestic deportation operation in American history," which would require relocating military troops to the US-Mexico border, authorizing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids of workplaces, denying due process to unauthorized migrants, constructing additional ICE detention facilities along the southern border, and overturning the Flores settlement, which provides protections for migrant children. Importantly, both the military and National Guard would be used to round up and deport unauthorized migrants.
https://www.piie.com/blogs/realtime-economics/2024/trump-vs-harris-immigration-future-policy-proposals

This seems to be what the American people voted for. Trump won the popular vote.

With regard to unrest in Los Angeles, Trump invoked Title 10 to deploy the National Guard.

Did God condone slavery?
-->
@Castin
“Importantia” has meant “significant” since the 15th century. It took on this meaning due to the “bearing of weight or consequence”, from “import.”

With regard to “infant”, I made myself quite clear when I said “He (God) asked the Hebrews to circumcise the infant males.” What did you think I intended to say? Since the 14th century, “infant” has referred to young child or babe, from the Latin infantem. I am not sure if you have encountered many babies (I understand you are pro-abortion), but infants are indeed non-speaking, until they are able to speak their first words, and at this time they are still not able to say very much.

So to be clear, you are saying that owning a human being is not wrong/sinful, in and of itself. Is your argument that God is okay with slavery as long as slaves are treated fairly?
My argument is that God has to deal with the sinful nature of humans. I believe He dislikes slavery, but may have tolerated it among the Hebrews for reasons I don't quite know. Maybe He wanted to appease the Hebrews? God knows how flawed we are.

What I do know is that God has made numerous covenants, with the final being the covenant of Christ. Although slavery is mentioned in the New Testament, the emphasis is on giving, which seems to be something we all have to do. Most importantly, God gave us free will, which I interpret as Him being for freedom and not slavery. While it is true God wants us to submit to Him, He is not willing to take from us the choice. A slave owner does not consider this. It is a human creation resulting from human sin, that exists across the world in significant ways to this day.

Jordan Peterson and Christianity

@Lemming
Saint Peter realized his mistake, and he repented. He later died for Christ.

I am sure some Christians have doubts. Is this the same as believing in Christ some days and not other days? I don't think it is. It could be that they are frustrations, and not doubts. They could be scared, miserable, and unhappy with God. Being unhappy with God is different from doubting the existence of God.

We must remember that Christ died on the cross. Selflessness and sacrifice is the most fundamental message. What did Jesus come for if not to teach us this?

His disciples and the early Christian martyrs, including Paul, died for Christ. When one asks you to renounce Christ or forsake your life, you must forsake your life. How can you believe in Christ when you would rather renounce his name than forsake your life?

Peterson said he would not stake his life on the existence of God. This means he is not certain God is real, which suggests to me, he is not a Christian. A lack of certainty is called agnosticism, which the likes of Peterson were not formerly criticized for. Agnosticism used to be a good and normal thing. I am sure most of the good intellectuals are unsure, making them agnostic.

Unfortunately now, we live in an age of inane tribalism and “taking a side.” Those in their teens, 20s, 30s, and 40s are arrogant and they no longer read or think about matters. We have become stupid. Peterson's problem is that he isn't stupid.

You would be a fool not to be a defender of Christian values. Richard Dawkins calls himself a “cultural Christian”, further commenting that “Christianity is a fundamentally decent religion.” Does this mean he is a Christian?

I like your response. Peterson is an intellectual who, after seeing progressivism interfere with his profession and poison the people, likely now views Christianity in a favorable light. I would imagine he is more Christian than not. However, he cannot be called a Christian when he remains unsure and is not willing to stake his life on God. This makes Peterson an agnostic.

Trump vs Musk
Musk seems upset with Trump's China policy. He is sad that he can not wield further influence.

As a billionaire, he can afford to behave inappropriately over it. Most of the other billionaires know they have to remain somewhat discreet and that they must not parade their power. Musk is another type of person.

I think there's a big incentive for politicians to build a cult of personality or stand out by passing terribly policies. When a very bad decision is made, it's often a decision only that politician would make.
We are already ruined by politics. Some are more ruined than others, but we are all ruined. More politics means more problems.

When a good decision is made, it's usually one plenty of people could have seen was a good idea.
Not when you have media influence and terrible groupthink among the masses. They believe what they are told to believe, and doubt what they are told to doubt. Who needs AI when we have the human?

The goal is to transition to a system where politicians are easily replaceable and none of them abuses their power too much.
Why do you think this is a problem in western countries? They go through politician after politician, and none of them help their country.

If someone's willing to go to prison for life to get a politician out of office, maybe that politician ought to be removed from office.
Why? Some people are mentally unwell, or they are psychopaths. Both can be difficult to prove. Courts are flawed and judges are only human.

It's not abuse, it's the system working as intended. They'd get replaced by someone from their party anyway, so it should barely hinder government operations.
The system is more flawed than the human.
