how easy would it be for the us government to crush a popular uprising?
-->
@billbatard
Popular uprisings are usually stared by nut jobs.
So just take out the nut jobs.

And how likely is it that the U.S. populace would be so inclined to popularly uprise.
Most sane people are not interested in popular uprisings these days anyway. They're far too engrossed in their mobile devices.

So stick a burger on the barbecue and grab yourself another beer.
And calm that testosterone down in a manner that seems appropriate.

I like the phrase vey little. It's sounds like you've had a heavy session.

Nonetheless.
I think that Lord Acton was right, in that corruption is an inevitable consequence of power and power seekers.

And moral relativism is a pretty vague philosophy, that sort of states the obvious really.

And one points a finger at things that are relatively humorous in the context of the proposition.

Is there anything about the U.S. political system that is not corrupt?

Isn't it just par for the course?

What was it that Lord Acton said?

The thing about the Trump Presidency is that it has been immensely entertaining for the rest of the World to watch. Even more so than George Dubya's antics.

At the moment we have Boris Johnson. He is also great entertainment.

Not at all.

I agree with everything you just presented.

I was simply taking issue with the notion that pure economics is somehow more important than social justice.

However, the one case study that you highlighted is not representative of the many people who are never seen on CNN and YouTube, who work very hard for very little.

Nonetheless:
I would suggest that this sort of debate highlights how very little we have actually moved forward as a species, in terms of inherent behaviour.

For most people when push comes to shove, it's still all about the survival of the fittest.

It's just that nowadays mental and financial fitness are far more important than just physical fitness.

We're still more than happy to whip the donkey and feed it carrots.

Though as a rule, people who assume that they are mentally ill, generally are not.

Probably just the results of general self abuse. (Not meant in the euphemistic sense)

Not quite sure what you mean.

Technological Singularity is Not Inevitable
-->
@Discipulus_Didicit
The existence of matter.

Is it chance or is it purposeful.

Therefore might the evolution of matter as it has occurred, be an inevitable process.

if so, do we have any real say in the process or are we just a part of an inevitable evolutionary sequence?

Is technological singularity the ultimate God?

The God that reinitiated the sequence and the God that we will help to recreate and the God that will once again reinitiate the sequence.

@Discipulus_Didicit
1) Chance or purpose?

2) Therefore, is material evolution pre-ordained or not?

3) Therefore, do we actually have a say in the matter?

If one chooses purpose then one would be inclined to answer Yes and No to questions 2 and 3. So under these circumstances, technological singularity would seem to be inevitable.

We live unnaturally longer, but there again what is nature.  As it's fair to suggest that living unnaturally longer is in fact of a natural process.

And we can apply that logic to every situation that you listed 1 to 4 and probably everything that can be listed under 5.

And we can also apply that logic to the Bikini Atoll nuclear test and it's consequences.

In fact we can probably apply that logic to everything.

Exactly.

And social justice or injustice is something we can choose to ignore if we are in a position to be able to do so.

Culture is assumed differences.

Generally, relative to past events.

People on one side of a line continuing to assume that they are different to people on the other side of the line, simply based on the previous activities of their dead ancestors.

Functionality is obviously going to be the same but outcomes will continue to be variable. This is the nature of the beast.

And as ever the discussion descends into another protracted rehash of the same old unresolvable argument.

Though that is not to say that conditioning could not be standardised.

But the trouble will always be, how to agree on the standard. And that discussion will probably always descend into a protracted rehash of the same old unresolvable argument.

But let's be honest and ask ourselves, do we do it for the satisfaction of a resolution or for the enjoyment and stimulation obtained from the argument?

I have grown to lack hatred, not that I was ever particularly hateful.

I simply have a different set of data output relative to what is broadly known as theism, which obviously includes Christianity.

I debate because I enjoy it and I output data relative to my acquired knowledge/conditioning, as do you. Neither of us is right and neither of us is wrong.

The population of China is approximately 1.4 billon individuals and you (Inadvertently perhaps) regard them all with equal disdain. Which as I see it is wholly unchristian.

I am therefore happy with my conclusion that conditioned self righteousness and insular arrogance suitably describe the particular type of U.S. mindset that you display.

Maybe we're on a knife edge or maybe we're not.

Things are always constantly changing.

A significant reduction in the human population wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing though.

Maybe it's all about the reality of material evolution and our role within the process.

Or maybe it's all pure chance.

As ever, the jury's out.

Ergo, differences of opinion.

There's a distinction to be made between happiness and contentment. Happiness is a random momentary occurrence, whereas contentment is the continuous state of mind that we should all probably aspire to achieve.

Though both are acquired data constructs rather than inherent states.

Therefore assumed states of mind that exceed base function are reliant on the acquisition of knowledge.

So happiness is resultant of knowledge. But that is not to say that the acquisition of knowledge will necessarily evoke happiness

1) Economics is variable data, so therefore one must expect variable output.

2) So your impression is one example of variable data output. As was that of Nemiroff.

3) You either respect society as a human collective or you do not. People are real and money is an associated construct.

4) Social justice is what it is and once again your impression is your impression.
