@Sam_Flynn
Like me, you will inevitably lack a lot of relevant data.
I'm not even sure if it's possible to know everything.
And if you're not even concerned with the veracity of data, or the presenters thereof.
How can one be expected to give any credence to your reinterpretation.

Yep, I tend to agree with you.
I much prefer more of a conversational forum.
When presented well, a lot can be said in a few words.

Pole shifting.
Just got to run with it.
Scary is a concept.

According to which ancients?
It seems illogical not to stay and colonise and dominate.
I base this upon Zed's Law of Universal sameness.
Though based upon Zed's Law of Universal sameness,
They wouldn't have turned up in the first place.

@IlDiavolo
The problem I have with special ancient people, is where are they?
Now, I can certainly posit my own answers to this question.
But it still seems illogical that they are not here.

@Lemming
"Political prisoner" allows for the inference of specialness.
Though tends to apply to someone imprisoned on the basis of espousing or protesting anti-establishment ideology, rather than committing an actually crime such as murder or manslaughter.

@Sam_Flynn
Depends upon who made the documentary.
Documentaries tend to be propaganda sponsored by an agenda.
Perhaps you have a similar agenda?
Time will tell, if you stick around.
Hopefully you will stick around, as a fresh face will add to the conversation.

Very poor attempt.

Jews, Judaists, Zionists are not a separate species.
They are just a separatist group based upon religious and historical assumptions.
Probably closely related to Palestinians and other regional tribes.
Hey, the downside of intelligence is stupidity though.
Sort of a Yin and Yang thing.

Money is an interesting social concept.
Gold and property are probably the safest investments.
I'm not sure how safe electronic money can be.
One always felt safer with a wad of notes.
All it needs is a major glitch in electric money management systems and all data could be lost.
As modern money is no more than a data record.

@Critical-Tim
I think that formatively we acquire a sort of operating system of data, which stays with us for life, and is never forgotten unless we experience a system malfunction.
Though for sure, as we get older we can acquire and utilise new data, though you will find that this new stuff is less significant in terms of how we interact socially, and also easily forgotten if not utilised regularly.
Which isn't to say that there are not extreme strategies for re-programming.

Inherent meaning.
A. Inherent metaphysical meaning, as in the transfer of abstract concepts.
B. Or physical meaning, as in the transfer of DNA and cognition.
Though both are the providers of inherent meaning.
As they are inextricably linked by human data processing.

The ongoing future will have ongoing specialism.
And for sure, this niche has been special, but it will eventually be unsustainable.
So we either seek out a new niche or Earth based intelligence will become extinct.

@sadolite
I think that we are sort of in agreement, even though our hypotheticals are sketchy.

@CoolApe
I would suggest that the new normal is relentless, ongoing and unstoppable.
Just like getting old and not keeping up.
I would further suggest that technology and social media dictates the new norm now.
Modern culture is now a global phenomenon, though it may encompass vestiges of old culture.
Civilization may collapse eventually because of the failure of our culture.
You're already sounding out of date.
Just like Emile.
Simply because, you were conditioned previously.
It happens to us all...We lack the ability to continuously re-programme.

@Lemming
Well.
Currently transcendent in terms of achievability
Though if we (in some form or another) are to be along for the entire evolutionary ride, then we have to accept that the future is out there somewhere.
This niche is unsustainable.
Created:

@CoolApe
Being conditioned to accept a new normal is the norm.
I'm not sure who or what works it all out.
But it just seems to happen.
Pre-conditioned older folk like myself either keep up or don't bother.

Created:

@Lemming
Well.
Material evolution is ongoing and undeniable.
And all mechanisms and outcomes are naturally occurring, despite what we might think.
Ultimately the niche environment is out there somewhere in the vast universe, and I don't expect many Earth dependent organisms to be along for the ride.
And that includes most human organisms or hybrid entities too.
So I guess that most, if they still remain, will have to stay and fight it out until the end.
Created:
-->
@sadolite
I almost agree.
Though there are assholes, who will always consider superior beings to be assholes.
I say beings, because there are other intelligent evolutionary possibilities to consider.
A.I. and hybrid technology must be factored into the equation.

@Critical-Tim
Nihilism and atheism are two separate issues.
Nihilism in itself is a contradiction.
Professing to be nihilistic, is purposeful.
So:
Hitler was conditioned and driven by the events of his life, particularly WW1 and nationalism.
Though:
Like most dictators, was Hitler also driven by a desire for power and wealth?
Or were these just the consequential trappings of his overwhelming nationalistic desires?
Created:
A. "Gender identity" is influenced by ongoing socio-psychological ideas and pressures.
B. Whereas the reality of gender is dictated by biological factors...
C. And maybe environmental influences such as food, water and atmospheric contamination/changes etc.
Though I think that it would be incorrect to suggest that A cannot influence B...Nor can C not influence B and influence A.
The modification of the species in this way, maybe an inevitable universal evolutionary necessity.
And it would also be foolish to ignore ongoing technological development and the role it plays in material progression.
Free will, as in random uninfluenced behaviour, is unlikely to be possible.
Even the mad-person responds to a stimulus....Don't they?
Created:

@sadolite
@Lemming
If there is no evolutionary purpose then nothing matters anyway.
But if there is a purpose, then I'm suggesting that we are reaching a stage where knowledge and technology are key and billions of worthless human organisms will be an unnecessary distraction.
An ageless super-race will/must prevail.
Natural selection.

Obviously I wasn't referring to you as a condescending arsehole.
Though I would suggest that the truth is more of a case of what one thinks, rather than what one says.

I think that you're confusing science fiction with science fact.
Engineer is a general term for someone who engineers.
Inventor is a general term for someone who invents.
Scientist is a general term for someone who uses scientific method to solve problems and develop new ideas, so that inventors and engineers can invent and engineer.
I would suggest that the reason you don't like scientists, is for the age old reason why people resent others.
You work it out.

Science is an ongoing challenge not a struggle.
If you drive a car or fly in planes, thank a scientist.
If you depend upon medication, thank a scientist.
If you have a continuously available food supply at your local store, thank a scientist.
If you have a continuous electricity supply, thank a scientist.
If you have a computer or smart phone, thank a scientist.
Most people take all this stuff for granted.
Whereas others have striven to develop it.
So will we ever crack the life puzzle.
Probably.
But maybe not.

Prove the authority.
Prove the creation.
Prove the sin.
When that job is conclusively done we can then move on to the possibility of a design flaw.
