Welcome to US Presidential Elections Mafia! DP threads will last 72 hours each. This one will end on Wednesday, August 21st at 2:30 PM EDT.
Rules:
- No copy-pasting your role PM, pretending to do so, or giving a version of it which is almost not changed at all.

Other information about the game:
- This is a nine player game with two mafia players. It is also a 'role madness' game, meaning that every player has a unique role and there are no vanillas.
- Before the start of the game, the mafia team was given the opportunity to ask if two roles are in the game.
- Every character is a presidential election from US history. There is a theme split.

I do understand why I was lynched though. I should have claimed first thing. I was just hoping I could help the town solve the game like it was almost solved in BotW.
I would not have voted Owen for claiming vote thief. The way he said he'd role claim later, only to immediately change his mind and claim something scummy just came off as very towny to me.

My role PM simply didn't explain what the Miller does. Idk what to tell you other than that. Wylted's role PM apparently didn't explain what the vigilante did either.
Honestly, though, I'm fine with being the lynch today. I have back-to-back twelve hour shifts tomorrow and Friday, so I wouldn't be able to participate much in DP2 anyway. I will say this, though: I still trust JoeBob, Austin claims he'll be confirmed by tomorrow, and Wylted could theoretically confirm his vigilante role. Also, once I am revealed to be the Miller, the cop will basically be confirmed. The town has the potential to form a strong town block and PoE the scum team into oblivion. Don't waste it.
Also, I cannot explain why, but I have a gut read that Whiteflame is scum. I'm not going to bother pushing for a claim because I don't think that's happening today, but after I flip, just keep that in mind. Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like he should be pursued next. Just my opinion.

It's mainly a question of how all that balances against the weird justification and timing of your claim.
In terms of justifications, mine might not be the strongest, but I've seen weaker ones that ended up being true. I feel like Moozer in particular creates justifications that are a bit weak sometimes. Like, in BotW Mafia, I was Urbosa/PGO, on account of Urbosa being 'a bit of a loose cannon'. Even as someone who had never played BotW before, I could tell that the justification felt like Moozer just wanted a PGO in the game.
If it helps, though, I could have ChatGPT rewrite my role PM.

That being said, it's sus that Casey acknowledged back on page 1 that PGO was an SOP claim and then waited until now to acknowledge the same about their own role.
I get that, and honestly, I probably should have claimed then. In the moment, I just wanted to focus on developing my idea, and then I was going to claim afterwards, but then Pie was pushing Wylted, WyIted was trying to push a quick lynch, and there just didn't seem to be a good time for me to give my claim until now. If I get sussed by the town for that, then I understand.

Very well. I am the Nerd. Since my role is also a negative utility/SOP role, I will claim it as well. I am the Miller, since nerds tend to annoy others and are therefore disliked. I honestly expected to claim earlier, but the thread took a turn and other players took the focus.

Anyway, I townread CA and JoeBob for reasons I've already explained. I also townread Owen for his claim -- Popular Kid is one that would likely be in the game, and he seemed to genuinely misunderstand what he was being asked to claim. Pie has generally been giving me towny vibes as well.
Thus, my PoE has it narrowed down to Austin, WyIted, Whiteflame, and Barney. I don't want to kill Austin yet since he says he can confirm himself by tomorrow, and while I'm still uneasy about Wylted's claim, if he really is a vigilante, it could be useful to keep him alive. I would like to lynch Barney or Whiteflame personally.

I am beginning to think it's joebob and Austin, but either way I think Joebob is the strongest scum out of all 3.
Based on what, exactly? Because Pie has them in his PoE and you trust him? Is that really your whole argument? Because as far as I can tell, it is. We don't even KNOW why Pie trusts Barney, and I honestly have no idea why I should just blindly trust him as well.

Why is it better to lynch scum slowly than quickly?
We don't have particularly strong evidence against anyone yet. Scum benefit when the town rushes. Villainous Villains DP2 is good evidence of that -- the town was quick to lynch Earth and paid the price for it.
Anyway, I do think it would be good to get one more full claim this DP, and it may as well be you.

I'm the Overly Friendly kid.
I'm slightly sus of this claim. The other claims that have been made so far, as well as my own role, are ones that make a lot of sense for the theme -- they're all classic characters in school comedies and dramedies. Overly Friendly Kid, not quite so much. Seems like the sort of thing you might come up with if you knew it just had to be believable enough.

Okay, so think back to BotW Mafia, the first full game Moozer moderated. He had created LotR Mafia before, but accidentally bungled the setup and had to abort it.
Players realized the theme split in LotR was a simple heroes vs villains setup and thought BotW might be the same. In BotW (the video game), there are six main heroes, so the town had anyone who was among them claim to be one. Sure enough, six out of seven town members were one of the six heroes. The idea was that the town could just lynch the other three players and the game would be solved.
Honestly, the plan was perfect, but the town missed the DP1 lynch because of Reasons, and then things got really stupid. Let's not let the same thing happen here.
Anyway, think about Moozer's modding history. He included a PGO in his setups for both LotR and BotW. Now, CA has claimed PGO, and given how soon he claimed it and how new he is, I doubt he's lying. Now look again at the Moozer quote from the signups thread I posted above. The theme split is apparently another obvious one.
Before this game began, I was thinking about what the characters might be, and I figured it would probably include character archetypes and typical cliques. Based on my own role PM and CA's claim, I think I was more or less correct. My hunch is that the theme split is likely students vs teachers/faculty.
So, let's popcorn this. Say whether you are a student or an adult character, then pick someone to go next. I'll start with Pie, since he is very experienced and very good at this game, making him dangerous to the town as scum.

I am the Class Bully, the other kids are afraid and won't go near me. As a result, I am a Paranoid Gun Owner. If anybody tries to visit me throughout the night, they will be killed (apart from the Mafia).
I did ask you to refrain from claiming until I get on break and have more time, but that's okay. PGO is an SOP claim, especially if it can't kill the mafia, so it's fine. Actually, this info strengthens my theory.
