@Imabench
Pff, that's not a problem at all, your wish will be granted :)
The only problem ( as it is now with the debate arguments ) is that the counter will be approximate, because of the markup it's really difficult to make it precise but I guess it will be just good enough :)
I am working on a huge refactoring and will add the counter along the way, alongside bug fixes and performance improvements.

Of course, glad that it helped :)Thank you for the timely response regarding my issue. You were correct about the cause and everything has been resolved.

Wanted to keep you posted about the site's development, I am still working on it but only on the internal stuff, like optimizing database queries, doing some refactoring, fixing bugs and etc. I hope to finish all this as soon as possible but I imagine it's gonna take a while, maybe like 2-3 weeks more :/ After I finish with this, I will probably have to take the website down for at least a couple of hours, since the change is freaking HUGE so there is just no way it will go smoothly from the first attempt.

@Alec
You can just either delete all notifications or load them until you find those that you haven't read so that they'd get marked as read and the counter would drop to zero.

You can go to debates leaderboard and simply click on the `Votes` column and it will order the list accordinglyHow about having a leaderboard for most amount of votes?

Yeah guys, I know it's annoying, the best I can do is to add some mechanism to save drafts but it's gonna be a bit later.

@Speedrace
Haha I think you should thank your browser, I don't remember implementing a safety mechanism like that :/

Hey guys, we will definitely restructure the forum categories at some point, it's not that difficult, the only problem I am worried about is SEO, I'd hate to screw it up.

I've checked the code and it seems like we're using the classic formula from -> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system. With the K factor:
- Players below 2100: K-factor of 32 used
- Players between 2100 and 2400: K-factor of 24 used
- Players above 2400: K-factor of 16 used
Frankly, I think we will need to get back to this formula later as I remember somebody suggested some ideas on how to improve it.

Well, by the supporting program I meant this -> https://publishers.basicattentiontoken.org/, but I highly doubt it's gonna be much of a use for such a tiny website as ours, but at least it's a chance for people to try out a new browser, maybe some will even like it.

Firefox is an option too but you'd still need to install plugins to do some basic stuff, like killing fingerprinting, automatic change to HTTPS and stuff like that, Brave comes with all this stuff built-in and it's simply more good looking, in my opinion.
Regarding the search engine, DuckDuckGo is definitely not that advanced imho, at least I missed lots of handy snippers that Google gives you for quick searches but it's a trade off between privacy and search quality. If you want the former, DuckDuckGo is the way to go, if you want the latter, then Google it is.

From my understanding, Brave uses the Cheomium core, so you can use some google extensions. It’s been a while since I fiddled though.
Yeah, that's my understanding too, I am not sure how it works but I imagine they should support lots of extensions too.

Search engine is not bound to your browser. By default Brave uses DuckDuckGo search engine, that is, if you start typing search term into the address bar but you can simply change the engine to Google or Bing in the browser's settings.

I am afraid I don't understand your question. If you wonder why you have fewer medals, then it's because you don't get medals simply for the forum posts, there are other things to do too, please read the medals descriptions. If you wonder why forum posts counter lags, then it's also normal, some counters are not real-time, the values are delayed for around 3-5 mins. But, if you create forum posts and the counter doesn't change even after 5 mins, then it's a bug and I will need to look into it. Just test it and ping me later :)

@RationalMadman
I tried to use Firefox lots of times but I simply can't, I find it ugly and the dev tools are crap, at least UI wise and I use that stuff A LOT and want it be to be fast, beautiful and functional.
You linked with your tag because you want a reward for referring people
Duh, what I really want is to not pay for hosting outta my own pocket :/

I have decided to get away from the mainstream browsers in order to prevent them from taking my information (looking at you Chrome) and I found the browser called Brave, which seems to be rather modern and has lots of built-in security protection stuff, it's all good and well but the interesting thing that I found is that they have this special program for automagically supporting content creators and even though it's targeted at people with thousands of subscribers, I still decided to give it a try.
So if you guys want to try a new security-aware browser and at the same time help our project, check out the additional information on the link ->
https://brave.com/deb168Most likely as a supporting program it's going to be useless but at least the browser itself is really nice, I highly recommend :)

Why do you think they have to be bigger?Can you make the icon's bigger on the leaderboards?

@Wylted
Understood, you are in then, but keep it quiet, we don't need no public attention on this one.If you are a Russian spy looking at people with an interest in making policy like debaters and want to pull the whole blackmail people by giving them a multitude of beautiful women to have an orgy with and piss on, than just set up a time and place for me to jump on this opportunity

@TheRealNihilist
Not really. So let me start from the beginning:Isn't a storage problem more than it is a technical one?
1) If you try to upload an image of bad quality, doesn't matter if it's 200 KBs or 5 MBs, it will be bad anyway, there is no way for me to make it better than the original.
2) If you upload an image of good quality, it will be simply reduced to 140x140 px and even though I do some basic compression which may reduce quality, in most situations it's not even visible, especially on those 140x140 avatars.
There may be an issue on some screens like MacBooks' retina though, which I will address at some point later.

Because people write their PhD thesises about such things, this stuff is complicated.welp. Why not?

@TheRealNihilist
Hi!
So the logic is that images get resized to 140x140px and that can cause issues if the initial quality of the image was crap and there is not much I can do about it. But if you upload an image of good quality and it turns into crap, then it's an issue.

Hi, you have already brought this up before, I believe. I will try to add some indicators here and there, yeah.

Well, there will be more icons there at some point so I cannot replace it with text. Also it's not that important, just a minor indicator

@Ramshutu
Ugh and that's a fair point too :/

@Barney
Those are good points, I agree that first round forfeit is not critical so it's probably not the great way to go. And yeah, debates already have too many settings, I think this one can be done without adding new ones. I will also read the debate later, thank you!
And regarding the logic, I will check it after work today, it's hard to grasp the idea quickly :)

Oh I see, that makes sense to me. Let's wait for some other ideas or suggestions, if people agree on this one, then I'll add it.

I believe somewhere someone suggested this idea that if debate is full forfeit or mostly forfeit, the system should completely skip the voting part and just finish the debate without any rating change. At least that's how I remember/understood that part, so I just wanted to bring this up again and decide if I should implement something like and how it should be done. Any ideas or suggestions?

@Wylted
Well, I am slowly building foundation to somewhat similar purpose. My logic is the following:
Ads are bad and in no way are a good option, they irritate people, they get blocked and they don't provide a good income anyway.
Ads are bad and in no way are a good option, they irritate people, they get blocked and they don't provide a good income anyway.
Subscriptions are better but then, it will basically make the website unavailable without the payment, also sounds so so.
My idea was to first build a more or less proper website, including creating more new functionality, fixing the existing one, adding a mobile version and so on, and on top of that, add some premium stuff that people could pay for, if they wish. And with that money, we could indeed have tournaments (even maybe video ones, if we have those by the time) with some money prize, like what they had on QallOut. Not even mentioning better hosting, better ads for getting new people, payments for the mods and etc.
So it's a slow process, I know, but it takes time. Just to make a comparison, check out this new website called changeaview.com, their website looks modern, you gotta give them that, but they actually have some investment behind them and the website still barely has any functionality. And here we have a one guy show basically and I manage to release new stuff almost every week, considering that I have a full time job and a bit of life after that, so I also work like a slave for 16$ a month that I can't cover my hosting with...
Also to be honest, debates don't attract that much traffic (at least YET) because I can't generate goddamn backlinks to our website and fix some idiotic Google SEO problems :/

Thanks for the suggestions.
Regarding the image on the top right, I just had to find something more or less good looking but FREE since well, I can't buy imagines with $16 of income from this website. So it may not the most relevant picture but that's the best I could use for free.
There is still a second step for the main page development and I will definitely add some contact info at the bottom, if I manage to design it to look nice.
I've already replied to club, just without quoting.

Yeah, that's a good point, I completely forgot about medals ... I will replace the questions box with the medals box.It looks great except for the fact that "personal questions" are a main feature, first of all, the name itself isn't exactly appealing and secondly, is that really that important? Maybe you could add something like: "Add friends" or "achieve medals" and whatnot. Other than that it looks noice.
