I find the idea weird and funny at the same time, but I am not sure how to react to it, I don't really see a problem with it, except for being unusual, so to say. Any comments, guys?

Hi and welcome. The idea seems rather unique, could you please create a separate topic for it and discuss it with other folk? And if it goes okay, at some point we may merge something like that into the current functionality.
And thank you for you feedback, it's really appreciated :)

I really like the ideas and they are not that difficult to implement so I imagine we could have them rather soon but we'll need to discuss it somewhere.
Thank you for the ideas and your time!

Fixed a bug with wrong process of calculating the debates rating. The bug was introduced alongside the change that allowed instigators to take the CON position. I apologize for the inconvenience!
My special gratitude to @Imabench for discovering the bug!

I imagine that's gonna be quite easy so we could give it a try. I am gonna be quite busy in the next couple of days but after that, I could add it to the next release and see how it goes :)

30 minutes and 3 hours should be options for the length of time between rounds.
You mean add two options for the Time for argument option? In order to be able to create the "fast" debates ?

I'm sorry for the headache I caused you. The birthday problem isn't a huge deal for you and your co-workers to fix right away; it was my fault for not being careful when registering. Still, I'd like to thank you for your time in fixing the problem. The DART community is very appreciative that the team is so diligent about providing feedback and fixes.
Don't worry about it, I am always glad to be of help, it's never a headache :) And thank you for the kind words!
I'm not much of the technical person, so I'm afraid I can't be of much help in image uploading. I do think that it is something that can be very beneficial for the site. Image uploading can make memes on the games forums and suit pictures for fashion. In debating, it might be that a debater would wish to upload a visual aid, such as a map or a graph, both of which can swing debates if used by talented debaters. I, for one, would be visually inclined in voting towards someone who can use data tables and models with skill. Even photography can be extremely powerful; someone in an animal rights debate might (for example) find that the debater could augment his/her argument with photos of abused animals, and someone in a Katana vs Longsword debate might find a visual reference of the physical layout of a Katana incredibly useful when explaining things about physics. Again, I understand that the DART staff is mostly doing this with limited funding and time. I just wanted to throw the idea out there, because I see it as something that would generally be useful for DART, and also as I believe I wouldn't be the only one who would find great potential in it.
There is no doubt that this feature could be highly useful and most likely I will go with the way when a user provides a link to the image and it allows him or her to insert that image into the debate argument but the image will have to be stored somewhere else, which is good enough. The problem with allowing users to upload their own images (instead of linking to them) for the arguments and other things is that I'd have to store them somewhere and that may end up costing me rather a lot because I'd have to pay for ever growing space and bandwidth usage (and that's additionally to other expenses, such as server hosting, domain hosting, CI system, email delivery system, monitoring system and some other). I'll add the donation system at some point later but I don't imagine it's gonna be that effective, but I guess we'll see :)

I think you have discovered a bug, my dear sir. I am sorry for the headache that it caused you. I will fix it and add it to the new release tomorrow.
Image uploading is a complicated thing and I am still not sure how to go about it. I will probably add it first for the debate arguments and we'll see how it goes from there.

Yes, we will definitely discuss it. I am working on the debates section now and after I have implemented some minor changes and fixes, I'll get to working on the voting system and we will decide what should be there. Many people raised the issue with the voting system so that's on the list of changes.

So this is a minor nitpick, but my profile is different from what I put in edit profile > personal information. My birthday is 9/11/2003, but the site says its 9/09/03.Thanks DART,Great seal
Hi and welcome :)
Could you please make sure that you selected the correct month while editing your profile? I've just tried to change mine to 9/11/2003 and it worked correctly.

@Castin
If you do change the width back I hope it's still a toggle option or something. Full width makes it easier for me to read debates which makes it more likely for me to vote. Not that it's super important for me to be a voter.
Yeah I also think it's easier to read stuff in the full width mode. I think it's just a matter of getting used to but I guess we'll see

@linate
i don't know if it's been mentioned, but it would be good for the site to get it high on google's search of debate websites.
I could call Google and ask them to put me on the first place but I am not sure if they'd go for it. Jokes aside, I've done everything on my side to make search engines like me (except the presence of the mobile version) and it may take time for the website to pop up on a good place, I imagine a few more months so I guess we'll see how it goes.

@Tejretics
Could you please change the debate screen back to what it used to be? Full width is hard to look at.
But in what is it hard to look at? I simply removed the categories sidebar which was pretty much useless and took too much space on the side.

It'd be great to have that little flame indicator to mark popular threads (threads with 30 or more posts) like there is on DDO.
That's easy enough, will add it during the second stage.

Simply that, after I've voted on a debate, the site no longer presents me with the option to vote (for obvious reasons). I was just making sure that when someone's vote is removed, the functionality that let them vote in the first place is returns(e.g. the vote button for them to click).
Yeah, it will return :)
Unfortunately, at the moment, if your vote gets deleted, no notification is issued since there is not a proper interface for that but hopefully I'll be able to release a change tomorrow that will fix this issue.

Recommendation: Allow private messages to be directed at more than one person.
Yeah, as I mentioned to somebody around a month ago, the back-end part is already there, I'll just need to come up with some design and it will be there. I am gonna move to the debates now, make some improvements there and then will be the turn for the PM system. I'll try to make it real time and maybe add support for group messages as well.

Added a way for the mods to mark forum topics as "read-only" or put a pin on them ( before that, pinning was possible only through me ).
At this point, I am most likely gonna move to the debates section and make some improvements there and after that to the messages section.
Other forum improvements like signatures, better quoting and the like are gonna be implementing in second round.

Well, Mike, are you happy you don't have to put up with the headache of moderation anymore and can focus totally on site development?
Yeah, that's for sure haha But there's still a lot of work ahead to provide all the site utilities for the mods to do the work in most effective way

I will not comment on specific previous bans made by the site ownership, partly because I am not up-to-date on all the specifics and justifications for the ban, and partly because those bans preceded any official site conduct policy (which should be up soon).
It's already in the footer, pushed it there a few hours ago.

Though I am pressed for time at the moment, I would like to note three things. Firstly, I believe the best modding is modding which is laissez-faire and hands off. Secondly, everyone will start from a clean slate--what happened or happens on DDO stays on DDO. Thirdly, the rules and approach to modding that I will follow are based to a large extent on those present on DDO. Those are tried-and-tested rules which can be implemented immediately.
Deal.

I will research all those things regarding the genders, it's completely new to me and I need to understand better what is what.
---------------
Recommendation: create an option to make debates impossible to accept, and allow Instigators to ask interested people to comment if they're interested, as is common practice on DDO.This would have two benefits:(1) This allows Instigators to choose whom they give the debate to, which is useful to prevent debates from being accepted by trolls or people who're very likely to forfeit.(2) This allows Instigators to start a debate, but take the required time to send the challenge over, viz. if I wanted to start a debate on a specific topic and see if people are interested, but I also don't have the time this week, and want to start the debate next week, this would give me the ability to advertise and still start the round next week.
I love both ideas, added to the list.

Add an "other" option for the category "sex" in the profile page. (Or add two more options than just "male" and "female"; specifically, "nonbinary" and "genderless.")And add another category on the profile page, for "preferred pronoun," with the options "he," "she," and "they."
You lost me here. How can there be more than 2 sex types? Maybe you're mixing it up with sexual orientation or something?
Also I am not sure I understand the preferred pronoun, what's the purpose of it?

I'd love for PMs to be more like they are on DDO. For example, being able to send multiple PMs to the same user and to title those PMs for different subject matters.
I imagine implementing something like that having what we have now is gonna be rather time consuming, I'd need to rewrite pretty much all the chat implementation so I also cannot promise when I could play with it but not any time soon I am afraid.

Can we get color themes (like dark/light)?
That's interesting but to be honest, there are so many more important things that we need to implement first that I cannot even promise when we could find some spare time to add a new color theme.

I understand that Reddit is differently coded, so I get it if it can't be implemented here, but if you want to see what I'm talking about (and you have a Reddit account), simply find any comment, highly part of the text, then click the "Reply" button. Your post will appear with that highlighted text prepopulated in "quoted" format.
Understood, I will definitely check it, it's a really interesting idea.
Created:

@drafterman
Oh I see, yeah, that's a good idea, I am not sure how to handle it though because it may be problematic to get access to only some elements of the post but I will look into it. Thanks!
An alternative is that you can highlight a portion of text in a post, click "reply" and it only quotes the stuff you have highlighted. I believe Reddit utilizes this functionality.
I've never stumbled upon anything like it but it sounds awesome, I will research that as well.

@drafterman
1) What do you think about having links default to opening in a new tab (equivilent to adding target="_blank" in an href tag)?
What links exactly do you mean?
2) When I click on a reply notification from my notifications window, it takes me right to the post. This is convenient! But, when I get an e-mail notification about a reply, the link is just to the forum itself, not to the individual post. Would it be possible to have e-mail notifications have a link to the actual post in question?
Yeah, I realized it a couple of days ago that I forgot to change the links for the emails, I'll fix it as soon as I finish all this moderation stuff.
3) Probably already mentioned: when you click the "Reply" button, it autopopulates the username in the "Receivers" field. Would it also be possible to have it autopopulate the user's post in the text field of your reply in "quoted" format?
Well, I am still not sure how to go about it, I'd hate to see all those huge sheets of quotes in the posts but somebody suggested the idea of hiding those and providing the "expand" button, which may be a good way to do it, anyway, we'll get to this subject later.
4) Also, I think it would be nice for you to click "reply" and have it append (rather than overwrite) users in the "Receivers" field so you can more easily reply to multiple people.
Yeah, that would definitely make things easier, I'll try to include it in the next release, if I don't forget :)
