I'm not really sure the use of a layered moderation system for a site as small as this. Later? Sure. But now a simple disciplinary system should suffice for any problems.
No, of course we wouldn't try to create this layered scheme right from the beginning but it would make sense to have it in mind when building the foundation. One thing that bothers me is the security issue that may pop up if some moderator's account gets hacked because this way the attacker may just delete all the posts or ban all the users or something equally bad. So we'd need to come up with some solution here.

Yeah I definitely like the idea of having layers. We will have to think about it and decide how it's gonna work here. For now I think it would make sense to start with a functionality to report things and people and with building up an admin interface for that.

Before we implement the moderation system, it would make sense to decide what rights moderators must have.
For example, I imagine they would be able to remove topics and posts and maybe temporarily ban people. What else? Let's put up a list here.

can you change the private message thing so that new messages automatically pop up if you’re already in the chat? It’s a little inconvenient to refresh the page over and over in the middle of a conversation
Yeah it will be working like this eventually, unfortunately it involves some amount of work to make it real time but it's not that complicated, so maybe next week or the week after the next one :)

I really enjoy that on PMs it's like IM platforms where enter is sending and I like it because I happen to know how to extend the message with shift+enter.

On the other hand, I know those who would really dislike it and who will slip up thinking they were pressing enter to make a new line etc and sending it instead. It should be a 'switch' thing that the user can decide.
So you mean something like a small checkbox that would toggle the mode how you submit the message from just "enter" to "shift + enter" ?

Oh I see, didn't notice the edit. Truth be told, I am also not a fan of this format, it always gets me confused but I guess I could change it depending on the origin but then I'd have to change it everywhere for the consistency sake and also I'd need to find a way to know which format to use and I could do that by asking for location or by analysing the user's current time or just by providing some setting somewhere or something else, so that may be a lot of work and I am afraid we have more important things to implement first ...
Btw, I wanted to point out that those timestamps that you see on the website, they are timezone specific, so two users from different places see different timestamps, so at least there's that :)

Is anyone else having a problem where the buttons on the post creator stop working? Like sometimes I'll hit the quote or italicize button and nothing happens, the icons just sort of gray out. It's sporadic. I'm not sure what conditions cause it. Navigating away from the page and then back again seems to fix it temporarily.
That's weird. If you find some pattern to this and could give me steps to reproduce it, I may try to find the problem. Could you please tell me what browser you are using and if it's mobile or desktop?

As many of you requested, It's now possible to edit forum posts. But it's possible to do so only in the next 5 minutes after post's creation and there is no way to change the list of mentioned people so here's that. Also it may have some bugs that I missed so let me know if you find something :)
PS I promised to add a way to jump to the last page of the forum topic straight from the list view but I am afraid it will be released only tomorrow.

Well, I am not sure if it would be used frequently and it would mess up the design of the upper part of the topic since pagination takes lots of space. I am thinking about adding a small "Go to bottom" button that would automatically scroll the page down to its end and one could use the pagination from there. I believe that would just as useable.

As for looking nice: on most sites, you can click on the thread title to be taken to its first page, but you can also click on the thread's last post and be taken directly to the most recent page. DDO did this, for example. Would that be doable? I would think it's just a matter of adding a link to the information displayed in the Last Post column.

This one is a bit tricky because formatting also takes characters and the ratio of actual text and formatting is always random but depending on the amount of formatting, arguments can be up to like 30-50k characters. Hopefully that should be good enough :)

Yeah, so the default behaviour is to open the first page, which in my opinion the most expected behaviour. But, I have added this "Show recent" link at the top of the topic to jump straight to the last page so that should be a bit more convenient. I may add this tiny pagination after each topic in the topics list to be able to open the last page straight from there, but not sure if it's gonna look nice, but I guess we'll see.
Regarding the quotes and the like, I know that's far from perfect but I also promise to tackle this issue at some point but can't give any time estimations.

I take it you'd commission the person to develop mobile? I may know a guy who'd be interested.
Well, I have no income from this site and don't really plan to have it in the future ( maybe some voluntary donations but that's it and it could probably cover only hosting expenses and my coffee in the morning ) so paying for the developers is just not an option, especially considering how expensive they are these days. I have a couple of friends that are starting their career in this field and I could ask them to help me to gain some real world experience and maybe add an item to their portfolio but I am not sure how it's gonna go. So nothing specific at this point.
Might I suggest a page-jump be added to the top of a page? Currently I can only go to page 2 (and beyond) by scrolling to the bottom

Yeah, the mobile is a pain in the butt. I am already trying to find somebody who'd be interested in developing the mobile version but I imagine it's gonna take some time to both find a person and actually implement it :(
