There’s nothing wrong with criticizing the government’s handling of COVID. I for one, live in NY and thought the lockdowns were implemented for too long and the rules were too stringent. During the summer I got on a boat where I was required to keep my mask on on the deck while the winds blowing hats off people’s heads.

Even if Trump or Republicans take over congress they will not be able to stop state cases against Trump. Biden could veto their attempts too. Nor will it stop DOJ from investigating and charging Trump.
DoJ can do whatever they want. But they can’t avoid congressional scrutiny and subpoenas without facing contempt of Congress charges. We crossed that river a long time ago.
As for state cases, we know Letisha James is a political hack. One pill out says she’s in a close race with her GOP challenger. I doubt he wins, but if Tish James couldn’t do anything in the last 4 years, what is she gonna do in the next 4.

Yeah you win elections by increasing the salience of the issues your party wins on instead of changing minds. Hopefully RDS can do something similar to keep abortion off the radar as much as possible going into the midterms. Republicans do have some good political moves though. Unlike dems they seem to realize that spring and and summer advertising is worthless and save all of their powder for the fall campaign when voters actually start paying attention, which is why Dems always dominate summer polling only for their to be a "surge" for Republicans at the end
Everyone criticized Rick Scott, the NRSC Chairman, for not invested too much in the summer.
Everyone forgets that he’s a master of campaigns. He won 3 times in Florida. The latest against a 3 term Democratic incumbent in a D+8 environment. He also clearly recognizes that Americans have short memories. Democrats May have defined the GOP candidates in the summer, but they have to spend far far more to uphold it over the summer. Meanwhile, the GOP can mass spend closer to Election Day with positive and negatives.
It’s basic psychology. Someone who has been negatively defined for all of summer, and then an ad comes out explaining the negative, or calling out the lie. It makes the voter think a bit.
Back to the psychology though. Recency bias is also a real thing.
