You talk shit about an Iranian General but what of the Russian generals literally committing terror over Ukraine right now by tricking 19 year olds into dying for a cause they didn't even understand when they were told to go on a special military operation.

19 year old men. 22 year old men. thousands of them.

this is fucking sickening.
Ya it’s shitty. No one is denying it lol. But reality is there are always gonna be shitty people in the world. I’m more concerned about domestic problems than Ukraine. Right now gas prices are more important to me than Ukraine

To support that argument, I'd like to see some evidence that the amount of drilling would have increased to levels near or over the amount we took in from Russia. Again, I'm not arguing that Biden's decision to stop issuing permits for fracking or drilling was beneficial for oil prices. I'm arguing that there was always going to be a substantial gap between the increase we could feasibly achieve within the US and the amount we take in from Russia. Saying that it would eventually increase investments in oil production domestically doesn't modify that - you're still talking about months or years for those new investments to bear fruit, and it's unclear that any amount of investment in domestic production would entirely cover for Russian oil.
I think it’s clear, but agree to disagree.

Either way, we can both agree that gas prices were rising before Biden anyways, and that Biden’s energy policies are severely harming the average American.

You can claim that the media would cover for him, but the evidence would necessarily be available to every member of Congress, many of whom would have every incentive to leak it. If you honestly believe that the media could give him sufficient cover for this, then I'm just baffled.
They literally did it in 2020. Ever here about the Hunter Biden tapes? You hear about the WI Special Counsel investigation into the 2020 Election Report? I bet you didn’t. You may think it’s crazy, but remember that no one thought 4 dollars of gas was possible. Well except Trump

...They would spin... a very large-scale purchase of oil... from Iran and Venezuela... as a humanitarian effort? And you honestly think people would buy that shit, especially given that half the country was already actively opposed to Biden shortly after he was elected? Can't help but notice that you ignored the rest of the absurdities inherent to your scenario, but this takes the cake.
The media has peddled worse and the people have believed worse. Remember when they said a Russian prostitute peed on Trump lol.

And that’s the problem. The media is willing to go to any level to defend Biden. All their owners are Democrats or literally in bed with Democrats. It’s actually atrocious. Media talks about fake news, well they’re the ones who started it. They only have themselves to blame.

Not going to disagree that refusing to increase domestic production contributed to this problem, though I think claiming that his doing so would have solved for this entirely is a different story. Biden would have had to find means to either bring down oil usage in this country or obtain oil from external sources regardless, so I think the long-term issue is non-unique. The only difference is degree.
I disagree. Under Trump, the price would never have gone above 3 bucks as a national average even with this supply shock. In fact, from a business perspective, it would increase investments in oil production domestically because of the massive profits involved. It would be relatively easy to control the price under Trump. But Biden as he stated, abolished new permits for fracking and drilling. Zero investments from a business perspective.

There’s a massive difference between being reliant on a nation for a few months compared to practically forever.

Also you’re not accounting for the fact that Americans are still going to be suffering for a few months, while the negotiations take place. It’s not like the deal will be done in a day.

Alright, at least this is a clear stance on what the US should do. Given that producing more oil domestically would obviously come with delays in the process of ramping up production (usually in the timeline of at least several months), this isn't really a short term solution to the problem of limited resources. It indicates that he should have pushed for more drilling early in his administration, which I'll grant you would have been beneficial, but it's not a solution to rising gas prices now. I have my issues with trying to get oil from Iran or Venezuela as well, though at this point, addressing the short-term pain of limited oil supplies while keeping up the ban on Russian oil requires either getting it from another country or waiting out the delay. I see problems with both, though refusing to ban Russian oil would have incurred its own problems.
The problem isn’t that he could buy Venezuelan/Iranian oil in the short term. The problem is he has to do it in the long term. Why? Because he refuses to produce domestically. He believes that Americans should shell out 56,000 to buy an electric car. You don’t pick and choose with radical dictators.

Essentially he’s he’s either facing off against a lion or cliff even though there’s a helicopter with a rope right above him.

The idea that the president would allow his team to pick the candidate is absurd. Clearly, you are the one here who needs to read up on this position and how important it is. Please read the link.
Yup I love reading opinion rather than fact lmao. That was the dude’s opinion. John Bolton can be selected for a plurality of reasons that Trump’s advisors would’ve advised him on. Namely, the Chief of Staff, Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, and even the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

New war with who?
Lots of areas, namely the Middle East. Prime sources would’ve been Yemen and Syria.

The wall is still not built
A good portion of it is. Biden stopped the rest of the construction over the objections of the most qualified individuals in Border Security: the Border Patrol.

You’re probably right about Soleimani, no other president would have been that dumb enough to risk war with Iran in order to kill one of their top generals only for them to be replaced with a more extreme general.
“Dumb.” Looks like you don’t care about our veterans and soldiers who have lost limbs and their lives throughout the decades. Soleimani was arguably the top influencer in the organization of militant groups and the support of Assad. I doubt his deputy has the same influence lol.

You guys act like Trump killed Osama Bin Laden. He didn’t. I’m willing to bet you had no idea who he was until this.

Gas prices are so high right now because Saudi Arabia is making gas really expensive here because the US won't sell them weapons to do a genocide in Yemen.  If your willing to sell weapons to a country you know is going to do genocide with those weapons just to get cheaper gas prices, don't call yourself pro life.
Gas prices are going up because supply is low and demand is getting higher. I’d rather we produce oil here in the United States rather than the Saudis, Venezuelans, Russians, or Iranians. Tell that to Joe

Does the Buck stop with Trump or not? The greatest president of our lifetimes and he can’t even pick his own National security advisor?
You clearly don’t know how stuff works in the White House lol. Might I suggest reading up on it first?

Because doing something good is not enough to erase all of the bad. President’s are judged by the totality of what they brought to the table. We could go on for days, but the simple fact is that there is almost nothing you could point to as a Trump victory which you would not have gotten from any other Republican candidate.
This is demonstrably false. Any other GOP candidate would’ve had us in a new war. Any other GOP candidate wouldn’t have built a wall. I could go on and on. Nobody would killed terrorist Qasim Soleimani. He’s not your average GOP candidate. If 2016 primaries didn’t show you that then you need to rewatch the debates.

But there are numerous things that only Trump was responsible for. As just one example, the fact that half the country thinks Joe Biden and the democrats stole the election is a Trump and only Trump thing. No other president would have caused that.
And there is evidence to support that executive officials in key states within the Election Board changed rules at the last minute because of COVID without express authority from the legislature.

There is nothing deranged about understanding this, and our kids and grandkids will definitely understand it.
Oh they’ll definitely understand that the 2020 election led to a President even worse than Jimmy Carter in the 70s

It’s a big gamble for Biden. Gas prices go up = tax. Remember when Trump said gas would be 6,7,8,9 dollars under Biden. Well here we are.

If we relied on domestic production then we’d be fine, but it turns out the average American doesn’t  have the capacity to shell out 56,000 dollars for an electric car. Hell even Elon Musk said we need to produce more domestically.

You can pick a qualified individual but not agree with them. And Trump personally didn’t pick him. His advisors mainly did.

And I already explained to you that I would continue the conversation in the debate comments, not here on a forum about Russia.

You talk about my ego, you’re the one who ignored an entire post about the topic at hand to talk about a debate you won over a year ago all because I expressed my desire to find intelligent people to discuss issues with. Yet with every post you prove my point over and over again. There are few things on a debate site more distasteful than derailing a thread to talk about one of your own debates, but here we are and you don’t even have any awareness of how childish it makes you look.
I know for a fact you’re delusional with TDS. Nothing Trump could’ve ever done would’ve been satisfactory to you. Even if he does something good, you say he didn’t do enough. That’s the difference between you and me. But sure, I await your comment in the debate section

Then you won fair and square by making the semantics of the debate revolve around impeachment being what was not to be done to the ex-president even though he was unfit to be president and fucked up so much so many times and is corrupt to the core.
Believe it or not, the US Constitution and it’s interpretation depends on semantics + it’s intention by the founding fathers. It was clear that the Founders established a process that could only allow barring from office after removal.

There have been many cases of American values being trampled or American allies being lured away from the American camp.
There are plenty of military confrontation against weaker adversaries that have costed the USA money and lives.
There have been terrorist attacks against the USA.
There have been nuclear threats against the USA, like in 1962 in Cuba.
Many countries have produced cheap at the expense of American jobs.
Many organisations have sent refugees to the USA.
That doesn’t answer my questions. American values matter only in America. If you’re talking about democracy, other countries can do that for themselves. There’s a reason why our founding fathers didn’t intervene in the French Revolution.

As for Cuba, US was a threat to USSR. If we can have nukes close to USSR, why can’t they have nukes close to us. I’m sure you understand that this example doesn’t make sense.

Ya as for labor, illegal immigration hurts a lot, and our politicians have practically allowed mass outsourcing to protect their donors. Trump actually reversed that.

Refugees wouldn’t be coming here if we didn’t mess around in the first place.

[b] You forgot to answer my question.
[25] If you made that up, it is understandable you won't present a source.
[27] If their case falls apart so quickly, rational people review their position. I suspect you don't.

Your argument is nothing more than an argument from ignorance used as an excuse to ignore the facts I just laid out. The question of why Putin decided to invade is an unknown. “I don’t know why Putin made this choice” does not equal “Putin invaded because Trump is gone”.

@valkyrie67
It seems your cerebral cortex is not properly working. You think that raising gas prices is the most critical issue right now? You're wrong. There are humans dying from Putin's war hawk attitude, and also in the last 4 days, he has committed multiple war crimes and murder.
Humans have been dying for centuries. Humans have been dying in every corner of the globe, especially the Middle East. Yet we do nothing there. As an American, I could care less about someone in Syria. My duty is to my family. And if you don’t think higher gas prices are a problem, you are out of touch with reality, cause guess what, not everyone is as privileged as you to not care about finding their source of gas money.

And you're worried about a possible 0.50 raise on gas prices? Also, How is Afghanistan, Syria or Libya even relevant to this conversation? I think just maybe the title of the forum is, "Why should Americans care about Ukraine?". But thats just a lucky guess.
Yes I am cause our moronic administration has forced us to rely on Russian Oil when we were energy independent under Donald Trump. Now we’re sending money over to a Top 5 corrupt country.

And my mentioning of the Middle East was to show that American interference always leads to things being messed up. Syria has been this way for a decade. We spent trillions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now we’re on muh Ukraine. Our job shouldn’t be to promote democracy. People can do that themselves if they want to

3. Action speak louder than words. The dude literally bombed a Russian ally, sent Ukraine javelins that are becoming crucial on the war front, and sanctioned Russia several times. That’s not puppet behavior. Point blank. No amount of trying to be friendly leading up to a summit with a world leader will change that.
Trump is a Russian agent, but the Russians didn’t invade when Trump was President. Biden isn’t a Russian agent, so Putin invaded. #Logic

There are worse case scenarios than that one. If you think that being remotely close to beating the American military is a requirement for violating American intests, then you should climb out from under your rock and learn some history.
Wanna be more specific? Cause the way I see it, as soon as NATO is invaded, Russia is dead along with us. We have zero interest in selling weapons and giving money to nation that is gonna end up losing those weapons to the Russians and the money used for corruption.

The Ukrainian government is a legitimate democracy that could stand on its own two feet until Russia decided to destroy it because it was inconvenient to them.
Is that why there has been a civil war going on for years. Either way, we have no interest promoting democracy in other nations. They can do it themselves.

Afghanistan was never a legitimate democracy, we spent 20 years trying to prop it up in our image because what they had was inconvenient to us.

Why do I need to explain this?
