DDO's solution to spambots: More Ads!
The site that would ban me over you always was doomed to end this way.
Haven't you already received temp bans from this site on two different occasions already, one coming almost within the first month of the site being active?

If you want to be salty about the past thats fine, you have the right to misremember things and invite me to drag up ancient history about how you posted pictures of flesh lights into debates, claimed that rape is okay as long as someone is not being or immediately about to be raped, and invent wild conspiracy theories about there being a DDO Elite to try to excuse your rampant stupidity, but before you do so maybe make sure that you reputation on THIS site isn't as poor as it was on DDO, otherwise you just set yourself up to be knocked down (again)

DDO's solution to spambots: More Ads!
Not sure if this happened recently or I just came really late to the party, but Juggle has actually stepped in onto DDO to make changes to the site long after the rest of us already fled from there a while ago.

What did Juggle decide to do? They added more advertisements....

I sh** you not, In a move of hilarious stupidity, rather than try to curtail the massive number of spambots on the site that drove out actual people who used the site for a variety of different reasons, Juggle has apparently opted to instead squeeze out whatever revenue can still be made off of the dead site by packing in advertisements in the last places they possibly could.

Pick any thread on any forum, I checked and this works on all of them, and scroll all the way down. Past all the actual responses from other people, all the way to the bottom. Once you hit rock bottom, normally what you would see is the end of the webpage or maybe a little button to take you to the next page or back to the first page..... Now though, when you scroll all the way to the bottom, you will find no less than 15 advertisements that you could find just about anywhere else on the internet.... Ads for crappy browser games, Ads for reverse mortgages, Ads for 'weird tricks to do every day!'.... I even spotted ads for a prostate pill and a miracle spice that can help pain.

I don't use this site very often, I pop in and out once a week at most, but just glancing back at what DDO has become really drives home in my opinion how much better off we are here now on this site. This site has potential and is on the rise, DDO somehow keeps falling deeper and deeper down the crevice.

I thought that was what we were doing now with the RELIGION forum
That would be my first option I normally go with, but last time I joked about that, a couple people got their panties in a twist and felt the need to fire up the 5 brain cells they have left to try to start an argument with me over it :P

In a bit of poetic justice, we just have to start a spambot campaign.
Maybe if we give them just one unpopulated forum to spam the hell out of it we could get a benefit from all their traffic, we would just have to agree on which forum to turn into a shitfest

Hmmmm, traffic....

Attracting new people
I think DDO was super quiet for years and years before it finally built up the sizable user base it had when we all came across it. Considering that this site started off as a refuge for the very few who stubbornly remained while DDO went down the drain, its no surprise that things are still rather quiet.

Just give it time, handle any moderation issues that need to be handled, and more users will eventually come.

When did DDO die?
-->
@Analgesic.Spectre
Oh don't worry sweetie it doesn't surprise me that you don't remember that, it all went down such a long time ago that any competent person would have simply put it all behind them and moved on with their lives rather then try to dig it up all over again out of nowhere just to pick a fight..... It was around that period of time after you said in the main forum you found me attractive, but before that time in a PM when you admitted that you were wrong to have protested the Weekly Stupid since some people need to be called out on their stupidity.

I do miss these little chats we would have, but its almost 11pm where I'm at right now and I have to help someone move tomorrow morning. Tell you what, just reach out to me in a PM if you wanna discuss anything..... It'll be just like those old times, but hopefully without the 'screaming at me in all caps' and 'punching your laptop screen because you have poor control over your emotions' and all that mayhem.

Not really a guess since you so basically gave it to me yourself when telling me about your time at Macquarie University during your Bachelors degree in education

Also he's doing pretty well, thanks so much for asking! He's about the same as your friend you use to tell me about, though the key difference being that he's not an utter coward and all.

When did DDO die?
-->
@Barney
Once the mass spam-attacks hit every forum of the site, thats when the site really had a get-together to discuss which site to move over to. There was a 20-80 split between moving to debateIsland or everyone going their separate ways, then this site popped into existence and a majority immigrated over here.

I wonder how many more members we might have here now if that final spam-wave hit 6 months or a year earlier. A LOT of good posters had drifted off the site prior to that point who might have transitioned here once the spam hit, which could have livened things up a bit more.

When did DDO die?
Issues with debates did not (in my opinion) kill the site once and for all since a vast majority of people who were still on the site were not even interested in voting on debates, let alone want to do debates themselves. Even though it was called 'debate'.org, the forums was the lifeblood of the site, as it is on here as far as I can tell. Once the spambots started to literally flood the forums with spam, to the point that Airmax had to create stickied threads like damn lifeboats in a literal sea of spam, thats when the site truly died.

There was shit going wrong before we hit that point sure. Polls and Opinions were unusable, spambots were well around well before the spam grew out of control, and of course Juggle didnt give a single shit about managing the site, but the inability to use the forums is what truly did DDO in.

What state should be the first primary state?
In primary elections in recent years, for Democrats and Republicans, Iowa was the very first state that determined which presidential candidate had the most support from voters, and New Hampshire was the second state.

Arguably though, neither of those two states really encapsulates the issues that a large share of Americans have to deal with. When was the last time that Iowa or New Hampshire made news for being the battleground of, well, ANY political issue?.... Has there ever been a housing issue in Iowa or New Hampshire? Race incidents between citizens and the police? A mass shooting or some issue involving gun legislation? Have either state been devastated by the opioid epidemic?.... Iowa and New Hampshire arguably are far different than the majority of states suffering from important issues, yet these states have some of the most authority in determining who becomes president, greatly altering who is selected to compete in the general election.

So my question is, which state do you think should be the first state to vote in the DEM and REP primaries? Why?

I would select Ohio, which is a state with a very diverse population with a diverse amount of issues including many of the things I listed before. Since Ohio also has a knack for picking which candidate in the general election goes on to become president, letting Ohio have the first go at candidates could dramatically shift the momentum and power to candidates that would be the strongest representatives of the political party they belong to.

K first off, stop tagging me in stupid shit.

Second, "Alphas seek constant praise as an addiction. They can't be out of the spotlight" clearly doesn't apply to me since I am on here maybe once every four days now, and thats mostly just to see whats going on these days without actually posting anything... I'm not to try to be at the center of anything nor seek constant praise.

Third, if you want a good look at what someone who 'seeks constant praise as an addiction' looks like, look around for the guy who posts a goodbye thread for a 2 day ban, posts a thread on the main forum announcing in all caps that he was unbanned from a site that is effectively dead, and proclaims himself the best debater on a site on like day 3 of its existence....

DDO: The Movie pits the users of DDO against waves of spambots, led by General Phyuck_You. In the end of the film, DDO's users stand victorious. Years later, the site fell. To spambots. Furthermore, the same site that was also brought into its golden age by Juggle, is the same site that died, with barely any action from Juggle
Im probably gonna have to make a sequel now huh XD

hahahahahaah AHAHAHAHAHAHA BARBOSSA BACK FROM THE FUCKING DEAD
You are invited to keep your fucking mouth shut
You and I both know that isn't my prerogative, nor will be anytime soon ;)

I don't seek out newer people who dont know and try to tell them what happened, Its when people are curious and ask me for info when I tell them. Making a thread to raise awareness about that very thing then getting mad when the questions get asked is just short-sighted on your part

It's clear to me the one you told is still sided with me
That same person basically said they were not going to pick a side, which is actually a pretty smart move since the only person who seems interested in fighting battles that have already been lost is you.

Didnt you find a way to get yourself temp-banned on this site within days of joining without me even having a role in anything?

You want to push me thats fine
We're in a thread that YOU made whereYOU decided to tag me in it for whatever reason.... Literally the only thing I've done is tell someone what happened after they sought me out which is kind of exactly what this thread invited me to do.... If you're still going to play the victim card and try to put me in the fault on this, then you still are as clueless as you were the last two times you got yourself banned. You only ever get in your own way more than I ever have.

those who know, know. Those who don't, don't need to.
Which brings us back to the main point, if there are people who 'don't need to know', then its a pretty stupid idea to make a thread announcing it to everyone in the first place and inviting those who are unaware to seek out why... Not sure why this is such a complicated idea for you to grasp

You kinda blocked me on the PM so I wasnt able to respond, but my basic point I was going to make was that if you dont want people to talk about your past, then making an entire thread about it and posting it onto the main forum is a really stupid and counter-intuitive thing to do, especially if your goal is to get a fresh start.... On top of that, tagging me in the thread as well is also not the best idea either, since we both know I played the biggest role in leading to your banning that anyone could reach out to and ask questions if they did not know about what happened.

Figured that much would be obvious, so Im not entirely sure why you're mad at me XD

Would there even be any visible threads in the religion forum? I imagine it would just result into two to three mass factions of people just discussing things amongst themselves rather then leave the thread open for anyone else to jump in and derail things.

@DebateArt.com
By private, I mean that only users, invited by the creator of the topic, would have access to it and I guess they wouldn't be moderated either, since neither the mods nor I would have an access to them, that is, if we're not invited.

What do you think?

I actually like this idea a lot because even though I am a politics/news junkie, I can almost never make a thread about it since the conversation inevitably gets derailed by the same one or two idiots who post just to bring attention to themselves rather than actually discuss the topic at hand.

Spam Reporting and Anonymity

@Logical-Master
My guess would be a vote that uses barely enough examples from a debate to explain why votes were given a certain way, but not in-depth enough to clearly remove any doubt that they actually understood all arguments made in the debate

Spam Reporting and Anonymity
About 70 reports were submitted--many on full forfeit debates or concessions--in a 4 day period alone. Each report, even on full forfeit debates, takes about 5 minutes to process, and on borderline cases, a report can take up to 10 minutes to process. That's more than 4 hours worth of reports.
If making reports non-anonymous was done purely to cut down on the precise type of stupidity that would push someone to actually do that, then I'm perfectly fine with mods knowing who is being the dipshit

Do mods have the ability to take away voting rights or has that not been implemented yet?

 "I think there'd be less shit if the site was left in a laissez-faire state for longer, and moderation rules were stipulated before appointing a single mod. That would have allowed for community input without creating a dramatic cause of dissent that results in instability."
I was sort of hoping that there would be some sort of site-referendum for what the moderation policy on the site would be where individual rules could be put up for a vote, but at the same time it can still be altered at will by the site owner while on top of that I only poke my head in here once every few days

@drafterman
if your vote is fine and the mods let it be, why does it matter if it was reported?
Mostly just a personal preference where I want to see what kind of cuck reports a vote that is 8 pages long that analyzes an entire debate and allocates points accordingly. Would also be interesting to me in seeing which debaters report a vote I make against them in a debate compared to who lets it slide or just wants to discuss my reasons for voting the way I did.

FYI: Reporting is no longer anonymous.
Is this referring to reporting posts and behavior in the forums, or reporting votes on debates? Because I am 100% okay with non-anonymous reporting of debate votes. I've had several great votes on the handful of debates Ive done get reported for literally no reason, even though some of the votes were literally 8 pages long on a google doc.

Ill vote 'neither' on the basis that its not so much the user who is being the moderator that is the problem as much as the policy being enforced in the first place..... To me Its not clear if the main issue is the overly strict enforcement/application of what the moderation policy is, or if the moderation policy itself is too large and expansive...... Having been told by a mod not to use a certain word because its 'ableist hate speech', it could very well be either or even both.

the usa should create a medicaid public option
A public option is pretty much an infinitely smarter system to utilize for the US Healthcare system in its current state.... It would allow people with pre-existing conditions to have an option/more options to turn to in order to get coverage, the US government could eat up any costs the public option would cause since unlike actual businesses the US government can sustain debts and shortfalls for years if not decades (See the USPS as evidence), and by not forcing health insurance companies to cover people with pre-existing conditions which eat into their profit margins, overall costs of these health care plans would be lowered since the higher-risk clients can turn to the government for healthcare rather than be forced to be accommodated in the private sector.

Single Payer has its benefits and shortfalls, but its far less likely to ever see the light of day in the current political climate, and Im certain that if it somehow became law that politicians would find some way to completely fuck it up. If how the GOP has responded to the implementation of Obamacare is any indication, they would also try to undermine/underfund the shit out of a single payer system at every chance they get in order to make it fail just to claim that they were correct in the first place, whereas a public option at least looks like a more bearable alternative.

Should we establish a DART Presidency?
The whole point of the 'presidency' was to try to encourage development on DDO as much as moderators who ran the site would allow due to the number of shits Juggle clearly didn't give to keep the site updated..... On here the admins are still updating the site and adding new elements to it, and hold more power to alter the site than any elected president would be able to.

That being said, I demand to be VP if we bring that whole stupid system back.

Is Preaching Allowed?
-->
@Outplayz
I actually agree with mostly everything you said. However, there are some users that i didn't see in the philosophy forum which is why i would go to the religion forum to talk to them. The people that incessantly preach get on my nerves too. However, even i may come off that way bc at some point or another i have to put my foot down in what i believe.
There's a difference between getting preachy because you've exhausted all other options when dealing with someone, and being preachy as the default setting that you start with, the latter of which far and away being the most common in the religion forum

But.. i don't think i have talked to anyone else, very few bc i'm sure there is a user here and there, that is able to concede they may be wrong. That is annoying and likely more common in the philosophy forum
Oh every forum is filled with people who can't concede that they may be wrong no matter how stupid they are, Ethang being a perfect example of that....  The issue though is whether or not an intelligent conversation can be even had in the first place without being quickly derailed by some spammer or idiot. This is where the Religion forum stands out compared to all other forums, because the Religion forum seemingly ranks first in stupidity-per-capita, as it did on DDO.

 I should go to that one more often than i do. Just make sure when you are attacking an entire forum to be a little more specific so it doesn't come across as there are no good people... in which case i would disagree. With that said, i understand your concerns in regards to the religion forum. We're not all lunatics and some can be very amicable
Ok thats fair, and I probably did go over the top on describing the overall user in the Religion forum. At the same time, if you are not one of the aforementioned lunatics who are more inclined to participate in cyber-preaching and cyber-crusading than having a thoughtful discussion, it would still be for the best to avoid the forum as much as possible given the number of actual lunatics who populate the region.

Is Preaching Allowed?
-->
@Outplayz
But there are people that will challenge your spiritual worldview whatever it is.. and that is the point. To learn through discussion
You can get that through the science and philosophy forums with a much higher degree of success than in the religion forum though, primarily because any half decent conversation or user inevitably gets drowned out by the recurring legion of imbeciles who prefer to preach rather than participate.... You can learn more about your beliefs and what not by browsing through the philosophy forum in a day than you can with encyclopedic memory of everything that has ever taken place in the religion forum..... And the crazy thing is that the exact same thing was true for DDO before all the spamming began.

Maybe if you would have been more specific, i wouldn't have thought you directed it at me and other users that aren't lunatics and just enjoy the subject.
Enjoying the subject and reading other posts about it a topic is one thing, its the people who regularly make threads and constant posts to try to convert people to their way of thinking that are something else..... Especially since most of those discussions involve some sort of inflammatory OP, copy pasting the same bookmarked passage as a response that doesn't relate to the topic in the first place, not agreeing on the definitions of words right before they are misused, and personal opinions people hold as facts..... If you don't make many threads yourself and the few posts you do leave in the forum don't qualify as anything just described, then you're safe for now and should get out while you can.
