@Sir.Lancelot
It 'would be difficult to test psychology I'd think,
As I agree with you, on what a large role factors other than genetics, can play.
Also criteria of what was being tested.

I 'imagine, that geographic populations behaviors, often vary widely throughout their histories,
As in even 'one geographic population, I mean, varies throughout it's history,
Based on it's environment,
Society, technology, weather, competition, wildlife, other, all being environment.

@Self
Reasonable test?
Though one might argue if they were carefully tested every generation, better data could be had on locations,
Still, maybe would need 'all geographic populations to use the same test, for their data to be good to compare?

. . .
Unreasonable test,
Random remove half population, every generation,
Separate on geographic population,
Place in similar starting environments,
Of which there would have to be multiple for each geographic population, (Criteria of what was being tested)

why don't people consider being a christian who thinks the bible is not the exact word of God?

@n8nrgim
Societal expectations,
Confucianism, Buddhism, Platonism,
. . .
My direction of thought, is that people can find something to their liking, in a teacher, their words and rules/view overall.
. . .

Might be in older times, of less communication/travel/structure,
Community, state, would have a large impact on what was popularized,
Many rulers/nations encouraged particular beliefs.
. .

Of Christianity, my own view is a number of Atheists,
Become resentful or dismissive about their former or surrounding faith,

Though the influence of Christianity looks large to me, on the modern West, both in past and now,
In many labels, Humanism for instance,
I 'assume there are parallels with many values, in a number of versions of Christianity.
. . .

Myself, well,
I don't think I hold to my heart closest, Christian values,
I prefer perhaps, to be selfish, but in the superficial or sudden heart-pull.

Out of curiosity, do you view races to have different psychological tendencies, than one another?

I don't disagree with the conclusion that geographic longstanding groups of people have various tendencies myself.
. . .

But I suppose the question comes to mind, because any differences are often unspoken,
Same reason one disagrees with profiling in police stops I imagine,
Hispanic in Texas 'would be more likely to be an illegal immigrant I'd 'think,
But probability not a decent stop reason, for a reason I forget, (I'm rambling)

Eh,
I don't think having black 'skin, makes one's voice lower,
Lot of variation in Africa, lot of variation in black people.

'Implied social expectations can effect people,

Still, I've never really looked into the genetics and statistics of races much, so eh, I dunno.

How to end the wars

@TheUnderdog
I don't know what you're talking about,
Being a politician or a ruler,
Does not prevent one's children from serving in the military.

Many rulers and politicians have been proud of their children in the military,
Societies 'do vary, based on culture/time.

So I'd agree that politicians and rulers 'have exempted their children in some times, places,
Or used their influence to place their kids in safer spots.

But you're ignoring history at large, and all the times children of rulers 'have served in the military.
. . .

One could argue that there are jobs other than the military, where people can contribute to their country,

One can argue that sending a ruler's children to war, paints a bullseye on the unit they are serving with, putting their fellows in danger,

One can argue that rulers are human, and not always immune to their children as bargaining chips, if captured,

One can argue that it is natural for a parent to care more about their children, than other's kids,
That a ruler 'needs be functioning, not always stressed and worried about their children being in danger,
Or go mad/vengeful, if their child is killed in combat,
This does not mean that other parents suffering is less real,
But the non ruler parent, is not on the levers of the country,
It is imperative that a ruler act at best efficiency, not be blinded by emotion.
. . . .

At 'most, a ruler or politician's children serving, would put more into their perspective, their countrymen's stakes, worries,
Which is good,
But it would 'not prevent war. ('I think)

How to end the wars

@TheUnderdog
Eh, Stalin did,
"Died at the Sachsenhausen concentration camp in 1943 after his father refused to make a deal to secure his release."

The British did,
"Prince Harry has flown out of Afghanistan at the end of a four-month tour, during which he admitted killing insurgents while piloting his Apache"

Lincolns did, towards the war's end, though no one 'knew the war was ending then, (I think)
"Much to the embarrassment of the president, Mary Todd Lincoln prevented Robert Lincoln from joining the Army until shortly before the war's conclusion.[10] "We have lost one son, and his loss is as much as I can bear, without being called upon to make another sacrifice," Mary Todd Lincoln insisted to President Lincoln.[11] President Lincoln argued "our son is not more dear to us than the sons of other people are to their mothers." However, Mary Todd Lincoln persisted by stating that she could not "bear to have Robert exposed to danger." In January 1865, the First Lady gave in and President Lincoln wrote Ulysses Grant, asking if Robert could be placed on his staff.[11][12]

Robert Todd Lincoln, partially undated (c. 1860s)
On February 11, 1865, Lincoln was commissioned as an assistant adjutant with a captain's rank. He served in the last weeks of the American Civil War on General Grant's staff, which meant he probably would not be involved in any actual combat; regardless, his father was very proud.[13] He was present at Appomattox when Lee surrendered.[10] He resigned his commission on June 12, 1865, and returned to civilian life."

. . .

I'm going to sidestep the Putin question by these examples,
To argue against the Topic's main thrust,

I don't think the children of rulers, serving in combat, will prevent war.

One can even make arguments against it being hypocritical if they 'didn't send/allow their kids in war,
But I need to go to sleep for work tonight,
Well, in 5 or 10 minutes go to sleep,
But I want to enjoy my 5 or 10 minutes before sleep, in a different manner than crafting arguments, right this moment.

Of Communism, Government and freedom,

I don't think Communism 'needs to be anyone's enemy,
Though I prefer that any nation that adopts it, do so of their own free will.
. . .

Maybe,
I'm not familiar with world politics, following the fall of the Soviet Union.
. . .

Sure, America has it's own influence as well, not to mention 'history,
But that some events happened, whether by different people still alive, or people now long dead,
Doesn't mean I need to support attacking countries for not doing every little thing America wants,
Or support attacking countries to increase the size of the nation.

Certainly I don't need to support it in others.
. . .

Russia is and was a power, I'm thinking,
I'm thinking Russia then 'and now, 'wants it's influence and force,
Wants those countries under it's yoke.

I do not think being suspicious of Putin, led to Putin's War,
I think 'Putin's ideals, loyalties, and ambition, led to Putin's War.

'Might be you're right about Russia,
But I'm not too familiar with Russia following the fall of the USSR,
So I remain doubtful, until I research.
. . .

When I say bogeyman,
I mean the idea people have of some all powerful Illuminati organization,
Pulling all the strings in politics.

I just don't see it, I see 'factions yes,
I understand down low and backdoor deals yes,
But 'Deep 'State, sounds conspiracy excessive, to me.

Of the deep state, I have no research,
Not that individuals and groups don't exist,
But I think people overplay them at times, into some sort of bogeyman, rather than regular people.
(Shrug) Countries have factions, sometimes open, sometimes less,
Not that it's 'good when people work against our ideals, but such is society,
Groups of people with differing opinions.

Eh, often in politics,
I'm not weighing who I should vote for,
But who I shouldn't vote for.

I'm pretty tiffed about all the anti-gun, from the Left,
Also just laws in general,
Take knife laws for instance,
Knives are useful tools,
But there's so many d*mn laws, I'm not sure 'what the laws are.

And 'concealed? I can't wear a jacket over a knife on my belt?
But this is off topic.
. . .

Trump is getting old, and he's a bit crazy,
I'd still put some odds on him dying or getting kicked out of office,

He pushes in 'some directions I like,
Strong borders (Not your thing),
Pro Life,
Pro Gun.

Not that he as a 'person believes in all that,
But I don't need him to believe it,
I need him to act in ways that further my interest.

Which I'm conflicted on,
Supporting Russia, instead of Ukraine, 'doesn't seem to be in American interests, from my view,
Not that he'll 'necessarily do such.

Also, I worry about him triggering backlash against the directions I like, due to his incompetence and manners.
. . .

If I'm irritated about something, I might vote Trump,
If I'm cooled, I'll probably vote third party.

As I like airing out my thoughts by typing and posting them,
Though don't feel a need to read them,
They're really at me,
But posted online so I have to sand them a bit, organize a bit more than a jumble,
Still going to be rambling though.

@Self
Why 'do families shun fellow family members, when there is a moral dissonance?
What are some examples of family shunning? I've never really looked into it before.

My two brothers don't talk to my Dad any really,
Just don't get along well,
Nothing about moral perceptions.
. . .

Morality in society,
I don't suppose a nudist really harms anyone,
Wouldn't mean I'd really want to spend time around them though.

Hm, what makes something moral or immoral?

There was some conversation on this site, brief, that I had,
About why the why is important,
I still don't see it as important, myself,
Sure, humans often share certain values,
. . .

'Harm,
Is the 'function of oneself morality?

Certainly it's a common kicker,
To the seats, impelling choices in a direction,
Are lies immoral-
Hm, actually this is going to be a long ramble,
I'm going to post this elsewhere.
. . .

I suppose one could claim lies and harm connect,
People feel hurt emotionally when lied to,
People lie to swindle, which can hurt.

But I'd imagine super straight parents might feel hurt when their kid is gay,
(I'm 'not saying that being gay is bad, or that people shouldn't come out because it might hurt their families feelings,
I'm just following a line of thought in my head)

Course a person might claim that the parents have no 'good reason to feel hurt,
Hm,
Hm, "Some psychologists, such as Haidt, take morality to include concern with, at least, all three of the triad of (1) harm, (2) purity, and (3) loyalty,"

What is 'meant by harm?
I understand 'practical common use of course,
But,
Physical pain?
Some people like to trade pain for pleasure, hurt body in sports, or risk hurt,

Survival of species?

Seems a lousy reason for-
Well, it's 'a reason,
Eh, I'm a moral nihilist anyhow.
. . .

It's my reckoning that morality can loop around itself,
It doesn't 'really matter 'why something is valued,
What matters is that it's valued,

Thus it get's used as an individual or groups based value,
By based, I mean, they create other values, 'based off it,
Still, perhaps morality runs away from it's bases,
They dying off, new bases created,
Even if they 'came to exist because of the older base,
The older base is no longer the highest value,
Just rambling.

@Rosalie
Arguably it could be prevented,
In two possible ways.

One is the theory of nature and nurture,
It's my view that people's sexual preferences are a mix of their genetics and experiences,
Though not everyone agrees with me,
And place sexuality purely in genetics.

Other way is action,
There's the argument that though some individuals may be attracted to kids,
They don't need 'act on that attraction.
(I'm not saying that being gay is equivalent to pedophilia,
It's just an argument on self control)
. . .

Certainly I admire strong family ties myself,
Even in times of disagreement.
. . .

I'm still thinking on morality in society, and the definition of harm.
Created:

Coming out of the closet

@Rosalie
I think that's a 'bit a fair point,

But at the same time,
If the family thinks the life choice is wrong,
Are they wrong to be against it?

Drugs for instance,
Doesn't seem wrong to me for family to be against drug use,
Sure a drug user could hang around other drug users, who accept and encourage the drug use,
Maybe the other drug users even care about the person,
. . .
But it seems wrong to encourage/enable action in a family member, when one considers that action wrong or harmful.

I don't mean to say being gay is or is not, wrong or harmful,
But that some people's 'perception of it being so,
Can explain their not 'accepting it.
. . .

Well, I'm going to bed now.

Hm, what about drugs, mushrooms, meth,

If there were 'real incidents,
The need to manufacture incidents, is puzzling.
. . .

And sure, some incidents in history are real, and not false flags,
But certainly countries like pretexts for war,
I still don't get the 911 connection with Saddam Hussein.
. . .

Sure, I'd agree living space is a thing,
Countries like big borders, they can fall back from if needed in a war,

Or strategic choke points, nice terrain.

Places for 'their people to move, live,
Though there's 'still a lot of land in the world, unused, I 'think.
. . .
. . .

The killing, robbing, and subjugating of a people,
Isn't quite a good thing, by our standards.

We might 'excuse it in people far past,
Not focus on it, 'so much,
When wars abounded,
When time dilutes events.
. . .

But even for me, It'd take an extreme view of Tribalism and/or Egoism to justify,
And I 'don't (Currently or past)

People don't condemn Napoleon 'so much as Hitler,
But many don't speak well of his aggression.
. . .
. . .

How can murder, robbery, force, and rape, be good?

I'd 'guess the answer would be that war need not contain these,
But war generally contain these, I am thinking.
. . .

One loves one's tribe of course. . .
But I have. . 'Difficulty admiring the action to war, (Currently and past)
. . .

I'm rambling a bit here, just thinking to myself,
Perhaps it is because I am more an egotist, than a nationalist,
More for honor as I see it, than an military expansionist sees it.

1, Germany invaded first,

2, Secret Clause,
"Under the terms of the Polish-British Common Defence Pact of 25 August 1939, Britain had promised assistance if a European power attacked Poland.[Note 9] A secret protocol of the pact, however, specified that the European power referred to Germany.[107] When Polish Ambassador Edward Raczyński reminded Foreign Secretary Lord Halifax of the pact, he was bluntly told that it was Britain's exclusive right to declare war on the Soviet Union or not."

3,
The Polish government did not declare war on USSR.
The Polish government declared war on Germany when Germany invaded on September 1, 1939. It did not declare war on the USSR.
I 'think.

4,
Germany had more a history, look of warmongering, and actual war, at the moment, (I assume, but do not know)
I've heard a lot about the appeasement play towards Germany, until enough was enough,
I'm not 'so familiar with the appeasement play towards Russia, until enough was enough.

Well, nations like their power balance,
And if one nation keeps declaring wars, expanding,
Appeasement might not be an answer any more.
. .
Besides, I think the UK had a pact with Poland.

As for America,
Yeah, from what I've read, our president at the time 'did strongly support and aid the Allied Powers, even before war,

Still, it was Germany who declared war on the USA,
They would have been better off declaring war on Japan. (I think)
. . .

There is no avoiding war; it can only be postponed to the advantage of others. – Niccolò Machiavelli.

Well, 'sometimes it can be avoided,
But if there 'is going to be war, there's logic in meeting it head on, rather than fight once you're winded from running, or the enemy has become strong from your concessions.

The guy was ballsy, ruthless, and a fair hand at orating,
I'll give him that.

Unfortunately,
He was also ballsy, ruthless, and a fair hand at orating.

Warlike,
His (Possible amphetamine abuse),
Isolated himself,
Encouraged his subordinates to not work together,
Too hands on.
. . .

Ballsy 'can be a good thing,
People/Nations, don't always know of what they are capable of,
Germany did well early in the War,
Generals say the tanks can't get through forest, Hitler says they can.

Isolate and berate Czech President Emil Hacha, into surrendering, during a meeting.

Ruthless,
Germany needs money?
Sacrifice much of the population and take their stuff,
Also sacrifice some of the people who helped you do this,

Another guy is vying for power?
Execute him, in a Night of Long knives.

Orator,
Convince individuals,
Convince groups,
Create a Cult of Personality, unite country behind.

These are all 'effective, though not necessarily morally good, according to standards.
. . .

Ballsy, Sure, nothing ventured, nothing gained,
Big Risks, Big rewards,
Well,
One can also 'lose gambles,

Sometimes one needs to be ballsy to win,
Sometimes an idiot can win with blind luck,
'Eventually though, luck loses out to skill.

Ruthless, Oh sure, great to decimate one's enemies, (Though not moral by many standards)
But then leader decides 'you are enemy?
Ouch.
. . .

He 'did have other good qualities, ideas, action,
If he'd stopped before Poland, maybe retired in the country, or brought the German Monarch back,
I'm sure even 'with all his atrocities,
People would rate his 'effectiveness highly,

But, he kept on going into the war,
And his performance just kept going down, I'd say.

There's sense in what you say,
'Really fixed into our societies though,
Lot and easier for businesses to pay electronically to some bank it seems,
And bank 'is a vault, that barring it going under,

And if thieves don't believe everyone has a vault in their house, prevents break in numbers, perhaps.
. . .

I suppose some of my perspective comes from seeing how 'many credit cards some people would have,
Inventorying people's belongings, with another person.

Always played a correlation in my head,
Credit cards implying a person doesn't know how to handle their finances, show control,
Not 'true of course,
But correlations play, as correlations play.

If I go by this site,
I suppose physical 'money, is a form of credit as well,

@NoOneInParticular, as this post meanders a bit, I feel.

Well, those three words are all a 'bit similar to me,
Though of course they aren't 'quite matches,
And even if I'm xenophobic a bit, doesn't mean I can't be a xenophile as well.
Not a contradiction in my mind,
So long as they take place in different aspects of life.

People 'do seem to like a middle ground, I'd agree,
Between being free to do as they like,
And being constrained along with everyone else,
For one's own and everyone else's safety.

America, I want to say,
Often get's focused on our Declaration of Independence, Constitution, Bill of Rights,
Big on the individual,

Then various inclusions to all,
The Civil War, Emancipation Proclamation,
Women's Rights, then Civil Rights Movement,
Though it's long seemed to me, we 'really went in the direction of including everyone, after WW2,
As though polar opposite-izing ourselves from the Nazi's.
But I don't know history too well.

Then there's all our business and worker's rights stuff,
'Kind of got anti-Monopoly with Theodore Roosevelt,
But there's also lot's of times the government sided with business I think.

Ahh, and all those American gangsters and outlaws,
Political figures getting assassinated a few times,
New media,
Probably hurt gun rights, I think,
Trade for safety,
Which isn't 'unreasonable, I just prefer living somewhere 'with those rights myself.

I'm probably missing 'tons of history, events, politicians and such,
Just my pop culture limited ameteur view of American history.

. . .

Not sure what the UK and such, base focus around in their history of freedom and public safety.

Magna Carta get's mentioned in American Independence films, I want to say.

Ah wait! Oliver Twist, and that whole time period of industrialization in Britain.

Funnily enough,
I'm actually fairly xenophobic/tribalistic/nationalistic in my views of what societies 'ought do,
In regards to keeping itself, honoring itself, and it's past.

I just don't care much 'personally, usually,
I don't see the 'gain for me as an individual.

. . .

Of that (Qur'an 8:12),
Just Googling it,
I see a number of pages arguing it as 'specifically of a certain battle,
As well as encouraging peace if the enemy lays down their arms.

It's not as though Muslims don't disagree among themselves how they ought be,
Culture has a large influence, is my view.

. . .

Personally a favorite quote of mine, is,
"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." - Ben Franklin

Though I don't think I've ever used it in the context he did,
Just such a cool use of words and person though,
That I like misappropriating.

I mean, I'd not even use his name, if I didn't feel obliged,
Not my intent to claim he 'meant it in the way I misappropriated it,
But again, just such a cool use of words.

I suppose you would have bolded the word 'truth.

We all have our own perspectives,
To recognize others are seeing something different, is not wrong.

To recognize 'why other's act as they do, is not wrong.
And for me, one reason, is I like the truth, as I see it.

@IlDiavolo
@Elliott
Atheist myself,

I like the truth, as I see it,

I don't like using lies, bad logic, or out of context quotes. (Mostly)
I also dislike being affiliated with such,

. . .

An example,
I might say Trump lies, a 'lot,

I wouldn't say Trump eats human babies for breakfast,
And I wouldn't like other's saying it either.
. . .

I like the truth,
I like honesty, integrity, good faith,

I'd 'prefer to oppose something, without lying or demonizing it.
And that's generally speaking,
I don't have a strong opinion on Islam.

If You Have a Random Thought, Post it Here.

@Deb-8-a-bull
Well,
I'd suppose 'most everyone can see a bit of themselves in other people,
Maybe much more, depending on the people.

I do read your posts now and then,
But they're a bit too much, off the wall for me.

. . .

I think it's good to talk often,
Even at the risk of sounding an idiot, (Not that I think your post sounds like one)

Just that I know 'I often feel an idiot in life,
Not 'all the time, but moments that happen, or past reflections.

I still vaguely recall some post on this site,
About a plan to slowly cut out meat over time,
And I made a point to someone, but they'd already made the point earlier,
I felt a bit an idiot for that,
But still, never venture, never gain,

Which isn't 'too bad, to stay where one is,
But I like to get out now and then,
Even if I might put my foot in my mouth,
Heh, though I 'try, not to put my foot in my mouth.

Why do you think 90% if not more members on DART are male (or at least active members)?
-->
@Bella3sp
I don't know, a few random guesses,
Though could be combo.

Maybe men use the internet more than women.

Maybe men 'used to use the internet more than women,
And because this site was founded by an older debate website,
It skewed it's starting ratio.

Maybe men and women have different interests or methods, (Generally speaking),
Whether because of culture or genetics.

Maybe more women use this site than is realized,
They just don't bring up that they are women.

Maybe more men are single,
And maybe single people use the internet more, or interact with strangers more online,
As opposed to something like Facebook, where one communicates with friends, family, coworkers, acquaintances.

I don't know what sex statistics are for other debate sites, forums, and what.

Eeesh,
But interesting.

I suppose if I lived again somewhere, where there were roaches,
I'd buy one of those one man tents to sleep in,
'Even inside an apartment, if the roaches were also tenants.

How do You Visualise in Your Mind’s Eye?
-->
@Reece101
Depends what I'm visualizing,
But whatever it is, I have difficulty making it clear/consistent,

Let's say I try to visualize a pencil in my mind right now,
It's vague,
I have an 'idea, of something yellow, with ? many sides,
Not because I don't know how many sides a pencil usually has,
But because I can't keep the picture consistent in my mind,

Not the way I could with some 3d model on a computer,
It's like an image intermitted blipping in and out of my mind,
Out of focus, in this angle, this zoom, a different pencil,
If I 'really focus, I can visualize it better,

But it's not the same as seeing with my eyeballs,
After all, even closing my eyes, and thinking about the pencil,
It's not seen in the darkness of my eyes,
But in my mind.

I wonder if there's any website that focuses on trading services/time?

I know websites exist that trade 'money for time/service, like Fiverr,
But that site's a bit expensive and hit or miss for my liking.

I suppose many sites also have a section where they recruit 'specifically for that site's hobby,
Like The Hive Workshop, focuses on Warcraft 3, recruits people for that function.

Still, sometimes one prefers to barter, I would think,
In options other than money,
Or has a wide variety of interests, needs.

I think Napoleon,
I Google, and it says Napoleon,
And I am happy my memory serves,
Though still that slight doubt in back of head,
Of authenticity of the internet,
Well, close enough.

What are you doing to prepare for an actual disaster, if not WWIII?
Eh, mother buys and stores long lasting food and water
Eldest brother owns a few guns,

Who knows, West coast might be due for a earthquake,
Good to have food supplies, if supply lines get disrupted, power goes out.

I wonder why some bosses expect people to worker harder than normal, for minimum wage,
Because some people 'need the job I suppose,
Or can be convinced,

But heh, I don't,
And I'm not.
