Hello, everyone! Get your tin foil hats on; this is DP1!
Mod Confirmations:
There is no Jester.
There is no third party.
Rules (C/P'd from sign-ups):
Players may not contact each other about the game aside from in-thread and game-approved PMs. Dead players contacting the living players to better spectate the game is acceptable as long as no information is revealed or hints/tips are given to the living player. However, I strongly prefer dead players contact me for information if they want to spectate. Dead players may contact other dead players.
Spectating players may not reveal information about this game (roles, characters, etc.) since all players can see it. Any players given inside information still relevant to the game cannot replace other players.
If a player is replaced out, they may not reveal information about this game (see above) unless I specifically allow them to replace someone in the game. Mafia players cannot become replacements. If a Town player replaces a Mafia player, their former player slot no longer wins with the Town.
Once a player is dead they may not communicate in-thread. They may still communicate in game approved PMs, however. Also, players may not talk after the DP has ended. During twilight it is fine to talk, but not after final vote count and flip are posted.
No players may C/P their role PM or fake doing so. All role PMs must be paraphrased.
All questions to me about the game will be answered wherever they were posted as long as they can be answered without ruining the game. I can and will answer all hypotheticals, but cannot answer questions about unrevealed information, with a few exceptions that will already be specified at the start of the game without the need for players to ask about. Example: If a player asks if there is a cop in the game, I cannot confirm or deny that. I can, however, answer questions about how a cop would work if it were to be in the game, since that is a hypothetical.
The role a player gets will be the role that player gets. Do not ask me to have you swapped for something else, please. I will deny the request in all circumstances.

How does this work?
Beginner's guide: https://www.debateart.com/forum/topics/21-guide-to-forum-mafia
Also, I will warn you that forum mafia is far more complex than a typical party mafia game. Since mafia communities can thrive for years, they will also develop their own play styles and recurring themes in setups. With this development comes the invention of new roles. And now that communities are borrowing roles from each other more and more, there are hundreds of different roles that could show up in any given game. Some roles may have different names, and the same name may be used to describe different roles sometimes.
Here's Drafterman's (old DDO user) list of roles. It's simpler and easier to follow than the other two: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1W1E0aQ44NuOrtdmualpAotloDjlvyeE7cB30Wle1cuY/edit
This one is the MafiaUniverse Wiki. If Drafterman's list is a bookshelf, this would be a library: https://www.mafiauniverse.com/w/index.php?title=Category:Roles&pageuntil=ITA+Trainer#mw-pages
And finally here's the MafiaScum Wiki. It's like the other wiki, but it has a few roles the other doesn't, and vice versa: https://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=Category:All_roles_and_modifiers
Now, you might be thinking it's too much to keep track of, but don't worry. With this variety comes a lot of roles and combinations of roles that are horribly unbalanced. So most of these roles are extremely rare in games. A few are extremely common. Typically, you can deduce what roles are in the game from what other roles you know are present.
For example, if you're Town and you see that your role is Cop (a very common role), you can deduce the Mafia has some role that can counter it, (like Godfather or Lawyer), or Town has role that nerfs it (like Miller). Sometimes, a mod will make the game interesting by using a more rare counter (like Fog), throwing players of both factions off the trail. Or a mod will sometimes use a rarer counter if the standard counter doesn't work as well for that game. But the rare roles are typically used sparingly in a game, so don't get paranoid in a game if you get caught off-guard by something.
Like, do we play the entire game in this forum thread?
Yes.
Do I have to download an app? Is it in Discord?
Sometimes you may need to use Discord. Back in the days of DDO mafia you didn't, but that's no longer the case since this site doesn't have group PMs. Since Group PMs are gone, Discord is used for the Mafia team PM, and Mason PMs if applicable.
I have played Mafia in person but how long do we have for discussions? Will this be weeks long or done in a few hours?
It's kind of arbitrary, but since this is all done online and not everyone can be active at the same time, DPs (Day Phases) usually take about three days. Some can last a week, though. As a mod, I wouldn't recommend making DPs that long; you'd be hard-pressed to find any mod that would. Week-long DPs really only exist when several time extensions are granted for special circumstances.
For this game, I'm going to go with the standard three days. One-day time extensions may be granted sometimes.
NPs (Night Phases) will be 24 hours. 12 extensions may be granted sometimes.
Of course, those are just time limits. DPs can end earlier if a lynch is reached earlier, and NPs can end earlier if all players with possible night actions submit their night actions earlier.
When does it start?
I'll post the DP1 thread shortly after the sign-ups list is full.

Non-hydra it is, then. Are you in or do you need more time to decide?
Created:

@Greyparrot
It might be a little OP to have two experienced players in the same slot, but I suppose I could allow it if his activity is going to be like, ~10 posts of almost nothing per day.
Ask him. If he thinks his activity is going to be that low, and he's okay with being in a hydra with you, then go ahead.

@RationalMadman
I'm not exactly sure what "casual" means here exactly, but if you even have say, ~20% of your normal activity from MMA Mafia you'd be far in the clear I think. You were active af in that game.

Hello all, and welcome to Conspiracy Theory Mafia!
This game is a 7-player setup that is based on conspiracy theories. Each player will be given a conspiracy theory as a character that represents their power role, although not necessarily their affiliation. This game is my most balanced and fun one yet. There is no Jester.
Rules: (Expect a lot of obvious mafia game rules that you already know about here.)

What has Airmax done to deliver on campaign promises? by RationalMadman

I do not believe Shila is a bot by RationalMadman
Reasoning: Bots are a pretty big deal for a site like this. Those who were on DDO during 2018 know all too well about this. If a bot scare on DART doesn't make the HoF, I don't know what will

I'd argue that in a political campaign, it is your job to convince a side. The same applies for Democrats as well. I don't look at that the same as I do the media. However, to say that Trump required outside help to win is unfounded and a stretch.
And you are correct when you say Trump hurt his campaign in interrupting Biden so often during the debates. But I think he beat Clinton in the 2016 debates overall. I argue it's the opposite. If she shuts up and interrupts sparingly, he's better in a debate.
Policy-wise, Trump did a lot that was appreciated. Most notably he was strong on the economy. Since Biden won, we've seen a horrible economy and corruption beyond belief. Every week that administration does something the MSM would've called for impeachment on if Trump ever did it. Arresting/investigating political opponents, invoking the Hatch Act to dodge questions, the whole Ukraine thing (also note that the Burisma oligarch served the administration Zelenskyy overthrew- Ukraine is not the same country today as it was in 2014)...
I've noticed a pattern of people close to Trump turning on him after the FBI goes after them. Some of the people around Trump may not have been free of corruption, but it's clear they're being used as a chip to get to him. It's a weaponization of the intelligence agencies, as it was from the start.

@IwantRooseveltagain
I could get into this elsewhere, but for now, I'll say this:
The Mueller Report has since been revealed to be an effort to ruin the Trump campaign and his presidency. And with all that investigation, the best they could say was there was "no collusion from the Trump campaign with Russia." They ended the report with how none of their claims are proven, but none of their claims are unproven either. The latter half was simply to save face, and as we learn more about the origins of the investigation we find more evidence of it.

@RationalMadman
I argue policy, as well as the sheer unlikeability of Hillary Clinton.
If you are referring to the Russiagate hoax, then that has been debunked long ago. If you are referring to right-wing outlets like Fox News, there is merit to your argument. I've grown more and more frustrated with Fox News over their lack of objectivity myself.
I'd also like to state my political beliefs have slightly changed. While I am solidly conservative, I have become solidly libertarian as well. I don't like the Republican Party as much as I used to, and I am continuing to trust them less and less. I prefer the Constitution Party, but they have no chance in any election I can vote in as it stands. So I tend to vote Republican.

Private companies can do whatever they want for the most part. That is not bothersome to me. I simply argue they cannot show only one side of the story and be above the term "propaganda." By all accounts, if they want to promote propaganda, they can promote propaganda. However, I'd be remiss to say they aren't in that case.

I’ve never seen the show, but I’m going to guess politics are discussed in the show. Bold guess, I know; you can mail me my award soon.
To me, it matters not that Obama is giving his opinion. I agree with RM on that. What matters more is whether or not the same channel or studio would give an opposing opinion some kind of show alongside it. Otherwise, I’d agree more with Greyparrot here.

Yeah. As much as I’d love to experience that culture in its complete form, I just don’t think it’s going to happen.
I suppose we can try to make what we can here. I’ll try to start something as soon as I get more free time. Not a campaign, though. I have no desire to run for anything here.

It really is a shame. The guy was a great mod on DDO; he was very dedicated to his work. To me, it seems the spambot attack of 2018 destroyed his motivation to keep modding the site. With that part of his life basically over, he seemed to dislike the idea of having anything to do with being on a site like it again.
This story is from my flawed memory, so bear with me here:
I reached out to him on DDO (still 2018) shortly after I discovered everyone moved to DART. I asked him if he wanted to move over to DART as well, and he said he was not interested. In short, he just didn't care. In the aftermath, he was just going to observe DDO occasionally without modding it until he lost interest in doing so.
Some time later, a user named SeaShelli, an IRL friend of Airmax, appeared on DART hoping their presence would encourage Airmax to join the site. Instead, someone made an account impersonating Airmax for a joke. Kinda funny, actually. The account was banned, and we never found out who made the account. There was a prominent theory, but there's no way of knowing anything for sure.
Fast forward to Airmax's actual first post on the site, and it looks like he has a renewed interest in the community. Knowing how good he was at being a mod on DDO, old users including myself supported his presidential campaign on this site and he got elected. His campaign even attracted other old DDO users to DART, some of which were users that quit DDO before I joined in 2016. Sadly, he never did anything after that (and those old members disappeared again), which leads us to the present where he has been justifiably removed from office.
There's a lesson in all of this: When someone loses interest in something, they are incredibly unlikely to regain it for longer than a moment. Some will say you can't blame us for being hopeful, but I disagree. We should've seen it coming. Everyone was so focused on a Michael Jordan-esque comeback story that they forgot about the possibility of a Brett Farve-esque comeback story. Or a Michael Jordan-esque comback story, Wizards edition. Not a perfect comparison, but I hope you get the point.
I think it has to do with a desire old members tend to have. They desire a culture that was closer to the old DDO, where there was more discussion and less flaming. There was drama, of course, but much more of the time seemed to be spent organizing tournaments, playing mafia games, or joking around in forums. Even the discussions were better. There was a time on DDO when the Religion forum was the only toxic forum. Political polarization in society then led to the Political forum being corrupted as well, eventually to the point where DART's Politics forum got to the sad state it is now. The Main forum on DART has a history of drama and flame wars, which is something I rarely saw on DDO.
I was never there for DDO's best days, but I'd like to think I at least saw glimpses of it. Glimpses that are incredibly faint now as I look at this site. Perhaps that's what the members who were active during DDO's best days thought, at around when I joined the site. I remember DDO members in 2016 calling DDO a "dead site." Funny, huh?

This really is nothing but political theater designed to jail political opponents. "Show me the man and I'll show you the crime" would the statement that applies. Meanwhile, our politicians are wasting time on this non-issue when our economy is still in the dumpster, we are giving gobs of money to Ukraine when we have no idea if we are ever going to get it back, and corporations are violating their employees' and customers' and users' rights to free speech. What a sick joke all of this is. Vote those who caused this all out. If you don't know who I'm talking about, I'll give you a hint: Almost all of them are Democrats. There are some exceptions for each side, of course, but they are not the majority.
