Hi all! You likely know me by my previous user, "christopher_best"
However, as you can see, I've changed it as of recent.
I wanted to change it up for a while now, to sort of mark a new chapter where I'm more involved in the site. My involvement has increased drastically over the past few weeks, and I hope to stay involved in the future too.
Anyway, just letting you all know so that you do not get confused at the sudden change.
Adios amigos!

Dude, Discipulus_Didicit isn't trying to build SeaWorld 2 lmao
Not sure where your from, but in the US most people call "water tanks" as you so call it "small/home aquariums."

I have 2, and after the initial investment, it's really not bad at all. My 10 gallon was probably about 150 to set up completely, but since then? I've spent like maybe 20-30 dollars over the course of a year

It's a hobby. It's for fun, not for productivity. Everyone needs a good completely useless money pit every once in a while.

Read the debate more closely and you'll see that isn't what is being implied (For the record, I agree with you and Dr.Franklin that the Earth is probably old. I was mostly experimenting with that one)

Yup. Simple setup with hardy fish and you will probably be fine

Thanks Trent!
Trent is similarly excellent at debate. Debaters have a lot to learn from his debate style. Precision beats wordiness!

Thanks, my most experimental topics were when I first joined the site, actually. I even argued in favor of a young Earth, even though that's not truly what I believe. Nowadays, though, I typically am less adventurous with the topics I choose to debate on aside from a few interesting ones (like the one I just did with Seldiora)

Also, Oromagi's advice is mostly right on except for the "introduce fish one at a time" thing. That's not necessary if you have a solid biofilter.

If you're new, start with a tropical freshwater tank. Don't try plants unless you're committed to it. This is mostly because powerful plant lights are a great way to have uncontrollable algae. To save headache, just use plastic plants and a less powerful light not meant for plants. (Also keep the tank from the window. Window light will create an algae problem too.)
Make sure your fish are compatible, and make sure your tank is spacious enough to accommodate the full size of the fish you buy. Many fish stores will sell you an initially small fish and won't tell you that they can grow to be a foot long or more, so do your research before buying.
Also, make sure to create a bio-filter in the tank, (or create a base of bacteria). You can buy bacteria at the store to put in the tank and speed up the process, and this works just fine, but if you don't want to spend the 10 dollars just put a small amount of fish food in the tank and wait for 3 days for the bacteria to populate it. This is ESSENTIAL. Without doing this, ammonia will build up in the tank and it might kill your fish.

I like that Intelligence is very unafraid to take on experimental topics and arguments, even ones where he has an inherent disadvantage. That is more than can be said for many of the debaters on the leaderboard. Also, he shows a very unique drive to be debating so young.

Very true, which is why I say there's something fishy going on. I wouldn't call this proof, though. We need to dig deeper

I agree that the Russia investigation was a pretty big waste of resources. I also agree that there are very fishy elements to the whole thing...
but I'm not sure these articles exactly prove it is on the level of the Watergate scandal. The right wing must be careful to not become hypocrites and undermine our own credibility. Taking the actions of a few and using it as basis to assume the entire system is rigged one way or the other is a Leftist tactic -- one we have consistently opposed.
Not saying it is or isn't a scandal... Just saying we should reconsider hyperbolic claims.

Same, would make MEEPs easier too. There's just some infrastructure that would have to be added to make it work. Unfortunately, will likely be a while before we could implement it. It would be a big update, and currently the priority is finishing some aesthetic updates and making a mobile app. Mike has said that Google is punishing the site for not having one

@Vader
@oromagi
I second all of Oro's suggestions except for the #2 and #5 suggestion. I think I would amend his #2 suggestion. I would have the first 3 debates locked into the "unrated" category, and after that, the user gets a medal and it unlocks the option for rated debates.
Taking me for example, my first few debates on the site were spent debating positions on experimental topics against some very talented noob-snipers. My first month or so on DART was rough. Oro was actually one of the big hazers who showed me just how far I needed to catch up in skill and commitment to actually make it on the leaderboard. I'm not complaining, those first few debates of getting my ass kicked really helped me evolve my debate style (Oro especially), but I felt discouraged seeing it impact my score negatively.
I can see how for many users, after experimenting a bit and being noob-sniped repeatedly while seeing no real gain in momentum, they'd just leave out of disinterest. That probably is the biggest barrier for getting more committed debaters on the site. (Also, consider how many of the committed debaters came from DDO. I'm an exception, and there are others, but it initially feels like a clique that you can't get into.)

I am not arguing that we should implement incentives to behave a certain way, I am simply saying that Asian culture is very good at producing results. And, maybe we would be better off if we took some of their values (family, work-ethic) and taught them in schools.

@Intelligence_06
I'm of the conviction that every person is born equally "evil," (anyone who has had or has been around young children knows this) just some become more evil than others over time. You do not teach a young toddler to kick and scream when they do not get what they want, but yet they do it anyway. However, generally we discipline them, teach them right from wrong, and as humans we do have an intuitive sense of morality that we try to follow. So, in many ways, we simply keep our wickedness in check. But, when some of those moral/disciplinary barriers are removed, (for example, you can choose to ignore your moral sense until it depletes to non-existence) you get wicked people.

@Greyparrot
Yup. Like I said, if we increase education and wealth, IQ rates will increase. How do we increase education and wealth? Well, good policy for one. But also, there needs to be a culture of work ethic and smart decision-making. Asians have that in abundance, we need to catch up.

Brain size means very little when it is slight deviations. Albert Einstein had a smaller than average brain.
What means more is the way you were raised. If from the time your brain was easily malleable you were constantly fed Mozart, forced to play piano and violin, and did nothing but study astrophysics while taking an IQ test every 2 months... you could potentially be the next Einstein. That is true of any race. It just happens with Asians more frequently.
You definitely could make the case that Asians are smarter on average, just as white people are smarter on average than black people. But I don't know why you should.
It isn't because of biology, and saying such statements is of no use to anyone. It simply fuels the egos of racists. Non-racists do not care and see no use in pointing it out.
To prove my point, take all high IQ people of all races together. What makes them high IQ? You will find a lot of similarities across all racial categories. Generally they are wealthier, have high education, play musical instruments, etc...
So, perhaps the more productive conversation is, how can we increase wealth and education for all people?
Do that, and you will see all IQ rates rise to the point of each race matching the other.
TL;DR: All you are doing by recounting racial IQ statistics is highlighting a wealth and educational disparity, not a biological one.

She seems very fake. She calls Biden a rapist and racist and yet wants to sign onto his campaign? Please. It's just proof that allegations of sexual assault and racism are purely political tools at this point, and carry no real moral weight anymore because they are slung completely unevidenced.

For when you return. I've extended you a hand of friendship many times, and each time you come back with some demeaning insult, but I stay civil with you regardless. And now you want to act like everybody has backstabbed you for paying attention to your clear CoC violations? It's impossible to backstab someone who never took the olive branch to begin with.
To quote from a previous post of mine:
Seriously, does every interaction I have with you have to be in the form of passive aggressiveness? I've never treated you with contempt. Show me some respect, and I'll continue to do the same.
You are throwing a tantrum like a child. Your actions have come back to bite you and yet you blame everyone but yourself.
Maybe try and follow the same rules you want to enforce ruthlessly upon others, and you will not get banned.
We've been much too lenient with you, giving you all kinds of excuses because "he's RM." But there is a breaking point and you hit it.
For the record, I helped LOWER your ban time. You're totally nuts. Period.

RM will be getting banned temporarily due to numerous CoC violations, but RM is having a fit over it

@Greyparrot
This is pretty much the exact argument i make in my debate with RM.
The ideology that BLM and Democrats push hurts black people and convinces them that their true affliction is actually Conservatives and white people at large.
To quote part of my case:
There are 3 basic things that any race of person can do to be successful: finish high school, get a full-time job and wait until 21 to marry and have children (nuclear family). In other words, practice some basic Judeo-Christian values.The results speak for themselves:“Our research shows that of American adults who followed these three simple rules, only about 2 percent are in poverty and nearly 75 percent have joined the middle class (defined as earning around $55,000 or more per year).”

The truth is it is an empty promise. The government will not be able to pay everyone back, so public social security needs to die. Ideally, I would have the government stop taking on new social security members in favor of private entities. Then, anyone not satisfied with government social security can opt to switch to private freely, and whoever has been already promised money and wants it from the government can stay enrolled. Over time, as old generations die off and new generations are born, social security would be privatized. It is a lengthy but necessary process, as public social security is unsustainable.

@Greyparrot
That is... probably the most accurate description I've heard
Created:
Good.
-Cutting payroll taxes stimulate the economy
- Private healthcare and private social security is better, precisely because of the lack of funding you so elegantly point out
- we are a healthy $26 trillion dollars in debt.

If you're going to cite a Wikipedia definition, don't cherry-pick.
Discussions in incel forums are often characterized by resentment, misogyny, misanthropy, self-pity and self-loathing, racism, a sense of entitlement to sex, and the endorsement of violence against sexually active people
BrotherD hits a lot of those boxes believe it or not. Either way, it was mostly intended as a joke. It was a pretty moderate burn. It is out of my control that you are getting so worked up over it.
Ironically, you seem to care far more than he does.
