That's a good thing though, if you think about it. If any of the conceders had been vs each other it would have been less optimal for the spectacles later.

Granted, I'm not saying liberals don't do similar stuff.  Most liberals who advocate the right to smoke weed don't smoke weed, and many that are pro choice will never get an abortion
It is the oppression that is hypocritical if one does what they support prohibiting, it does not work the other way around...

Russia doesn't care that the NSA is fucking over Americans. Russia rather enjoys it. Snowden is just a way for Russia to troll Biden and weaken his standing in the world by exposing NSA war crimes against American citizens. Just like they jumped onboard the troll express calling America a fundamentally racist country like Biden has. All of these are self-inflicted grievances.
The video you posted is from 2013, Biden was vice then and I doubt it was to do with him.

The countries he leaked it to and that benefitted from it do more spying to their own citizens and infinitely more muzzling. So, where exactly are you coming from here?

Edward Snowden leaked classified processes, not just information but processes and details of methods of identifying and spying on threats to the US.

I have no clue why you are blaming Psaki, it's the only reason that Russia showed Snowden any mercy and offered him sanctuary in the embassy or whatever. In other words it's above 90% likely that Snowden has leaked classified NSA-level intel to Russian intelligence.

If you are going to accuse somebody of something at least be exact, like I was right here.

As for what he has told Russia beyond what he publicly released, that's between Putin, SVR RF (their intelligence agency's acronym has 2 parts to it) and Snowden himself.

You seem to be arguing that you want it to be even more monolothic, not less.

Regardless, I am curious if anything other than Russia vs Ukraine counts as a hot, current debate topic that isn't some really one-sided covid resolution.

Please feel free to contribute but bear in mind that if your suggestion is too silly or unpopular, it's not going to be picked up, feel free to quote others' suggestions that you liked or disliked and say why you like or dislike the topic.

Please avoid any direct help other than to point out a severe flaw in wording of a resolution that rigs it for one side, in your eyes.

If Round 2 ends up being myself vs Computernerd, he and I have been having trouble finding a relevant/current issue that we disagree on or are willing to hash out. Could you give some suggestions of topics you'd like to see because I can think of many but they're either too cliche or too irrelevant to current events (or both).

The US has never been better than it is today, in terms of progress. Covid and Trump's Teem maybe can be excluded but even then the progress is irrefutable.

What Shook You?
Everything that shook me supported me towards what I believe now, I have yet to be shook regarding my current belief system.

The biggest question I pondered over was if there was any possible mechanical way for a god to have always existed and yet be justified by the impossibility of everything to come from nothing.

Years of pondering it led me to the conclusion that there must be a random generator that always existed/exists and a god persona that was randomly generated along the way hijacked it. Absolutely nothing other than this duality seems to add up.

So, in terms of physics, chemistry, biology, psychology and technology what did the Middle East contribute in the past five centuries?
- Add to all the above, all the moral, legal & political influence, which are greater than any other, in liberty, equality, religious freedom, women's rights, commercial law, contracts, animal rights... & everything else.
I'll take that as a concession to them not contributing much (if anything) at all to science in the past 5 centuries.

Now, let me also get this straight, you honestly believe that the Middle East and Islamic cultures in general pioneered liberty, equality, religious freedom, women's rights, commercial law, contracts, animal rights... & everything else.

To reiterate, you are under the impression that the Middle East pioneered the world's women's rights, religious freedoms, equality, liberty, commercial law, contracts and animal rights... oh and everything else too?

You can know and be capable and still be arrogant, it's about how untouchable and invincible you feel in your haughty position and stance(s). Yassine presumes that everybody else needs to continually prove him wrong and he can just type whatever baseless opinion he fancies and slap on some names of a couple Islamic scholars and therefore he's somehow proven that the US is crap, western europe is crap and that only dictatorships like China (which loathes Islam and is using the Taliban as a political pawn) are somehow superior and stronger.

@zedvictor4
Sure, if you believe the nonsense he typed. He has not studied the history he prides himself on if he thinks the social democrats and their porn-addicted sons are the main reasons America is struggling.

The reason all nations except social democracies have countless social issues is that they aren't even trying to solve them, they'd rather be wealthy than care or 'strong' than care etc.

These countries that Yassine celebrates are all so chock-full of social and societal issues that they will genuinely never develop until they make more secular and well-reasoned compromises. Saudi Arabia recently allowed women to drive, yet it only allowed a woman to run in the olympics if she wore the full gear in the heat of a British Summer in 2012, I don't need to tell you that she lost and was on the verge of collapsing.

This mentality and ethos needs to first be dealt with, they need a basic respect for all forms of life (even animals) not just say they do but show it through action and then they can begin to speak ill of nations that do that more than them.

The US doesn't do it nearly as much as some other highly developed nations, it needs to at least partially subsidise its healthcare, the fact a poor person needs to be scared to even get an appointment to get checked for something, due to the cost, is a massive issue on its own.

There is nothing I posted that is racist or ignorant.

Arabs invented algebra and the number zero. They didnt do much for science beyond that. I have no idea who you think you are fooling.

They rivalled greeks on trigonometry.

Africa, in general, just doesn't seem to want to compete on that level or dominate the world. The more competitive people within Africa emigrate or if it's financial victory they want, they remain and stay wealthy and powerful.

I don't see it happening ever, no matter how the future plays out. Even South America is more likely to reach that stage and currently they're lagging quite a bit.

Western Europe has been the hub of science for a long while now. You can believe whatever you want about history or the present, you like to brag nonsense a lot on other threads so why should this be any different. China and the US are huge, Europe collectively thwarts them because it has so many nations that are brilliant at science, the most noticeable being Switzerland, Germany and UK are heavily dedicated to it. France isn't far behind, it just tries less at it.

You can believe whatever you want about it, Pick any western european nation and observe its scientific development through from the 1500s to now and you will see what I am saying, they pioneered the entire planet's science, the others caught onto their discoveries and built upon their theories. I am not sure what you are trying to say here.

There of course were Greeks but they were more math oriented than science itself due also to the technology they had available back then and that's still Europe but admittedly not western europe.

I find it genuinely amusing how you start threads like this posing as some openminded, 'genuine' type and something about the way I write or whatever exposes you without me even slightly aggressing against you.

Your arrogance is not appealing to most here, some don't seem to care or notice though. It doesn't add weight to your arguments to belittle and insult the other.

US doesn't dominate science, Europe does and always has, however the edge is not as severe as it once was. There is, however, a permanent fact; CERN is the pinnacle of scientific development and is in Switzerland. As for Germany and UK in particular they are powerhouses at scientific innovation and many of the best at science will move to those 3 countries (Switzerland, UK and Germany) specifically due to the fact that the research there is groundbreaking. However, in California in particular (for the US) it is definitely on par especially if we talk technological and computing science. Japan and South Korea will come to truly rival it but since Japan is specialising into robotics, Japan's edge will be in a field that the rest of the world is kind of willing to let it win at as it's already so far ahead in that. Japan vs California will become quite intense in terms of robotics rivalry as we are entering the age of robotics for sure if we talk 100 years from now. China kind of rivals it in biology but since so much of China's work is top secret for the sake of it, we can never really know.

Militaristically, I definitely think the edge will and has already reduce(d). We'd be seriously looking to Asia, not just Europe to rival that. Australia and New Zealand will be aligned with both (Asia due to proximity and Europe due to relations with the UK and Ireland).

I think in finance, US will always dominate because that's its 'thing' and because the world kind of lets them dominate that. The agreed 'universal currency' in discussion is the US dollar and US is just so influential internationally that their currency will always be a very important one.

LOL!

I can host a tournament too, don't flatter the guy he's done barely anything so far, it's just been Lunatic and Mikal which is what I knew it would be. A vote for Airmax was not a vote for him, it was a vote for them. So far, they've done all the heavy lifting just like they did with the campaigning.

@Polytheist-Witch
Who are the Buddhists controlling, lol. The fact you hate yourself so much god can't be like you is all you, boo.
In Sri Lanka, the Buddhist Sinhalese government had an apartheid system that eventually culminated in a civil war with the Tamils (most of whom are Hindu but some are Muslim and some are Christian).

In Burma AKA Myanmar (the latter is the Buddhist coup-given name) the Buddhist government segregated and persecuted Muslims for a while until eventually trying at actual genocide on them.

These are two crucial examples but Buddhists tend to be corrupt when in government overall, it's when they're out of government and authority that they tend to be the nicer type you know of.

If I accept the debate, it means I accept the definitions and the biggest problem with how he's defined free press is that he didn't focus on this:

Freedom of the press is similar to free speech. It means that people have the right to give information and express opinions through publication without fear of government censorship, interference, or retribution, such as physical violence or imprisonment.

His biggest contention is going to be about libel and slander, I'm not scared to say this because I know it's one he'll inevitably have to bring up as it's the strongest Pro point of them all in my own opinion.

That's why it's extremely important that I make it clear that like free speech can be limited, free press can be limited too and what we are discussing is how to go about the limitations. I actually am also Pro (but openminded) on the topic, I am playing devil's advocate but I know some killer rebuttals and ways of thinking about what objectivity and free press are, in a democracy that will win me the debate.

I don't support his definition of free press and I want a proper definition of objectivity. How can I just accept 'quality of being objective' no, no, no.
