What are the cons?
cloth masks and to a lesser extent, surgical masks house the bacteria from your mouth and in a nice warm, moist environment grow rather well, basic science really. Washing them breaks down the fibers lessing any blocking ability they might have. Using one a day (throwing them out at the end of the day) would make far more logical sense, but that's not what is being promoted. Social distancing > all Masks give people a false sense of security. so there are cons, those are just a couple.

you may think the points are good, but consider this if you will, as per Dave Ramsey and other financial advisers you should have an emergency fund for things JUST LIKE THIS. This guy is a comedian I've heard his videos before, but he would have us beholden to the government, he sounds like a socialist which I am not, at all. When you take a loan, use a c.c. you entered into a contract freely and agreed to the terms and conditions, but now government should step in because you didn't save enough for emergencies, you spent beyond your means, you purchase a house too expensive?

When I lived in N.Y. ever paycheck came out 60 cents for unemployment insurance. I'd be fine if states did a group plan something like that for people to opt into. We obviously couldn't trust them to run it correctly and use the funds appropriately, but the idea is sound imo.
all this money has to be paid back at some point, the government WILL take it back, but why should I have to pay for others lack of planning and over spending?

there is no reason that I have read yet to wear one if no one is within 6 feet of me, there is no reason to wear one if the cashier is behind plexiglass. As the studies and examples have shown, talking only goes out to around 3 feet (arm length). If I'm not talking, breathing through my nose why would I need one to protect someone else? In short, it's situational, there are reasons not to and times you probably should. Then there's all the inconsistency and plain old hypocrisy about it that I understand the sides people are on. Amazing only "certain" groups of people need to wear mask, that and the black exception.
from a pragmatic point you should have one with you, if you encounter someone sneezing and or coughing I'd wear one, but that would apply during flu season as well.

the U.S. already subsidizes the rest of the world by paying more for drugs than other countries right? If that stops, costs go down for insurers as well as cash payers. That savings should be passed onto the consumer. Additionally reducing the time for generics would also drop prices.
I look at subsidies just like college financial aid, if the business knows you can pay more for something because of subsidies, whatever, costs will go up. Prices are supply and demand AND what the market will tolerate.
Even generic drug manufacturers, how many are there for any given drug?
Ever buy a prescription from a pharmacy and they ask you which company you want to buy it from? neither have I.
while generics do reduce cost I'm not sure there is all that much competition for any certain drug.
Pharmacies I'm sure contract with whatever company for whatever drug. You aren't making the choice, they are making it for you. Seems pretty ripe for corruption. It's not like vitamins where you can compare brands and prices yourself and you make the choice.

tbh I forgot the UN even existed......I don't have much confidence.
can't imagine how long or if it's even possible for China to clean up it's environment, so horrible for the people. They are and have been a huge world polluter. I'm just not seeing any kind of path to fixes these situations. The Chinese government would need to be overthrown and some form of democratic government installed. But that's highly doubtful that could ever happen unfortunately.

Insulin didn't have a price cap pre Trump, now it does = lower pricing for cash payers, same for epinephrine. Pharmacies can purchase meds from Canada at a much cheaper price but that savings has to be passed onto the consumer, not kept as profit.

China is becoming even more of a problem. My guess is they will be even worse if they think Biden will be elected. Given the past administrations spineless attitude towards China it's no wonder why they feel unopposed to build islands, fish whatever what waters they want etc.
Say what you will but president Trump has made the U.S. less dependant on China compared to any other president. The new drug pricing etc will also help.
So what's the solution? War? Sanctions like on N. Korea, Iran etc? How far is anyone willing to push the issue?

I'm not saying they are responsible. Do you not think their image has been hurt by those claiming to be a BLM group? Or that antifa is tied to these BLM groups? Image is everything in this context. If you are trying to gain public support, sympathy, whatever then you have to work for it, don't you think? The perception by many is that BLM has been hijacked by some violent extremist, maybe even taken over. Whoever gets the most support or control IS the message/messenger. I'm not sure for certain, however I think I recall just taking care of covid patients would be reimbursed at a higher rate because of all the care they would need, that was at the beginning anyway, might have changed.

while all the questions and debates rage on, thought I'd add some fuel to the fire.
When someone tests positive are all the family members tested as well? I haven't heard of entire families being infected at a rate one would expect from something so contagious. They actually do contact tracing but there doesn't seem to much information about the findings.
If someone has a positive antibody test, that means they either had it (mild symptoms or asymptomatic) how about all the people they came into contact with, again family members etc. shouldn't there be several people they infected?
any hospital surgery or procedure requires a covid test first and they are finding positives as a result, again why aren't at lead one of their family members admitted? are the family members even tested in these and similar cases?
seems this would be easy enough to figure out, track and report the findings.
I'm not saying covid isn't contagious or dangerous but with this and other lack or misinformation I certainly can understand the confusion and skepticism.

well, they are paying for the treatment, then there's all the respirators they got, ppe it's quite a list I think. Generally the bill is based on what the treatment and hospital stay length. the higher the acuity the higher the charge and they increased that for "covid" patients.

so let's say a person goes to the icu because they have covid, seems legit, unless they don't actually need to be in the icu, not everyone who has covid needs to be in an icu right? You don't get paid for empty beds, beds that aren't filled and aren't used....there's no one to charge for them right? Now you basically have guaranteed income by filling those beds, no need to worry about insurance or lack of. There's no way they can monitor every hospital and every case to look for potential fraud with the magnitude of what's going on. Not only that but they can generally justify it enough that it would be a long and expensive process to come to some determination. Not every hospital would do this, but I bet most are more liberal with these claims, treatments and monitoring. If someone is in the icu with covid but dies of some other condition, well if you list covid you'll get more reimbursement, they did have covid after all. Do you see the problem?

which state couldn't open some or most of their schools on a different schedule? maybe every other day? including weekends or late hours? is children's education important enough to go to that effort? The states are not obligated or legally required to take federal funding, it's their choice, sometimes choices are difficult and unpopular. However (maybe you've experienced this) when faced with very difficult choices you find a way to make it work, if it's important enough, you will find a way, right?

if you look at the graphics showing the droplets from talking for instance it's only about 3 feet, about an arms length away. obviously the larger the droplet the faster it falls which really just leaves the very small/micro sized. Again the problem is we don't know how much it takes to actually infect someone. I think wearing a mask is a fine precaution but how effective they are no one really seems to know.
Given everything talked about I certainly understand why people are confused and skeptical. Being aggressive and authoritarian towards them doesn't help at all, in fact it turns them and other away. Are you convinced and motivated to do something by someone calling you stupid, ignorant, irresponsible etc?
do you think helping people understand works better with kindness rather than trying to make them understand with peer pressure and threats?
which method have you been seeing? obvious answer is aggression and threats. Do you not see a problem with that? is that how society should be? forced compliance?

just because a person is infected (asymptomatic) it doesn't mean they are shedding enough of the virus that the viral load is sufficient to cause another person to become sick. If that was the case then masks would be useless as they lead, don't fit correctly, aren't made of a material that can adequately filter/block a virus. If someone wants to wear a mask they should be able to do so and the state laws that prevent that should be rescinded, but yet, not one whisper of that happening, why do you think that is?
people who have underlying conditions or are otherwise immunocompromised, high risk should be encouraged to wear a mask, however I don't see a difference between them refusing to and refusing cancer treatment or any other.
the best defense is distance, so regardless if someone is wearing a mask or not, you can maintain your distance regardless of their personal choice.
we've always had the choice to not wear a mask when sick, even during flu season. It's funny how we didn't/don't care about those lives but now it's different. What is the death rate cutoff for masks anyway? If covid numbers drop to flu levels or less does that mean no more masks? what and where are these lines exactally?

if you are sick, any kind of symptom, yes. in inclosed spaces, very tight quarters, probably, though that's really a personal choice. They offer some protection from sick people who are sneezing and coughing, but I'm not convinced that talking sheds enough virus to actually cause illness in someone else.
if someone has antibodies do they need to wear a mask? I mean that's what vaccines do, they cause an immune response that the body creates antibodies for. If antibodies equals immunity then why would that person need a mask?
also i've seen more studies and show asymptomatic people are very unlikely to spread covid, very low chance. Nothing is 100%, including masks.
What happens if the mask mandates expire or are discontinued? Some states it's illegal to wear masks if you can imagine that. No exception to medical ones unless it's for a short period of time AND you have a doctors note. You can only protect yourself when the government says you can. Can you see the irony in that?

there doesn't appear to be any cut and dry ideas about when to sell and take profits, it's more of a personal choice based on your risk/greed tolerance best I can tell. As of right now I'm up 23% on my fedex stock which is about 1400bucks pre tax and I haven't owned it a year yet so taxed at a higher rate. It's tempting to cash it in, but I'll ride it a bit longer. No real exit plan as buying stocks is a hobby for me not a real source of income. I don't have the money or knowledge to make any real income.
So what is your exit plan?

the faulty tests and testing is nothing new, coupled with the "erroneous" or even false reporting I stand by my statement. perhaps the specifics are off but that's a minor part of the larger issue you can't seem to fathom.
