other animals aren't relevant as we kill them, eat them etc, they have far less value than humans in our society.  For a long time after, a baby that is born is not independent so that's irrelevant.  Some people can't breathe oxygen on their own but we can't kill them, why do they have more worth than an unborn baby?

Explain why it's ok to kill a baby while it's still inside the mother, but not once it's outside once it's reached a gestational age of viability.  

Let's say a woman is 6 months pregnant, why it is ok to kill that baby, but once it's out side, even for one millisecond, it can not be legally killed?  it's still attacked via umbilical cord and placenta, sometimes they aren't breathing on their own and require intervention.  In such cases does the woman have the right to deny that intervention or decide to have it killed then?  If not, why not?

We all want our cake and eat it too ;)  Often these threads start w/o any real start points, most of the time is spent trying to find what and where they are.  i've noticed when this attempt is made the instigator will abandon the thread for the reasons you stated, when it becomes too obvious of what they are actually doing and true intentions.

consider other choices people make which society then has to pay for, drug use, unprotected sex leading to certain diseases, smoking etc etc, this really isn't much different with regards to societal burden.  Though I don't understand the scoff and sarcastic tone of an alternative to killing, at least to have a conversation about it.

just heard something interesting, when a sperm and egg unite, unique human chromosomes and dna are formed.  When remains are found they are tested to see if they are human if it's not obvious.  DNA test work because it's unique to the individual.  Now add in the laws that include special designations and or punishments for killing a pregnant woman and there seems to be a lot of inconsistencies.  I'm fairly ambivalent on the whole issue except for the inaccurate and down right false information to justify.
