CENSORSHIP is like an inoculation against REVOLUTION.
Revolutions are usually a result from lack of freedom.  Not sure how restricting freedom, prevents it

I'd agree in theory except the  practice seems to be proving the theory wrong.  In 2012, The Alex Jones show pulled better ratings than Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck combined and Jones was claiming about $20 mil/yr, mostly in supplement sales.  Since the big wave of social media bans in 2018, Jones' listenership is estimated to be down about 90% and Jones whole net worth is now under $5 mil.  Even conspiracy theorists  online seem to want to distinguish themselves as something more substantial than Jones these days.  Likewise, our case in point- the collapse of QAnon came less than three weeks after YouTube bans and 3 months after Twitter bans. Perhaps some judicious gatekeeping can prove more effective than theory supposed.
So as a liberal, you think that it is better to defeat arguments you disagree with by banning the arguments, than it is by confronting them?

Why do Atheists arbitrarily and irrationally say Miracles don't exist?
-->
@ludofl3x
Can you point out the supernatural element that can't be denied in that story? Otherwise it does look like a coincidence.
Just as I suspected, LOL. Who said anything about the supernatural?  It could be unknown natural elements at play.  The op is asking why atheists don't believe in miracles, not why they don't believe in the supernatural, that is assuming one does not believe in the supernatural.

The story mentioned is beyond coincidence, especially when you get into why each person who was always on time, were late this one time in the past decade, preceeding the event.

What about the Mayan prophecy that predicted the arrival of white man, the exact same date and time it happened and in the same area?

Coincidence again.

There are honestly too many things beyond any reasonable mathematical probability that we need to look into why.

It's funny that you need to attribute a miracle to anything supernatural though.

Is that why you deny miracles?

You fear that a true miracle is supernatural, so you deny any exist, because that might threaten your world view?

Most people try to fit what happens with their world view. Your naturalistic world view is so weak, that you have to deny that extreme coincidences break the laws of probability.

2. Miracles have not been shown to be something other than misattribution or fraud. The burden of proof still rests firmly on those who claim miracles are real.

Even the truth is seen through a filter. Like the story of the blind men and the elephant. I'm sure you have heard it, given it's popularity.  Each one's frame of reference is different. I don't know that controlling the frame necessarily needs to be done in a deceitful way, and the frame will be controlled by somebody.

If you walk into your mother's house, typically she controls the frame. It isn't honest or dishonest. She just has her world view and you step into her world. Frame is about controlling reality, sure. That doesn't mean it is a lie. I mean to a certain extent any world view you can adopt is a lie, but it's not necessarily dishonest.

It's just things are too complex to be modeled perfectly in the human brain, or even well for that matter. So we all walk around with frames, and we often enter each other's frame. That is why atmosphere in a restaurant is important. They are creating a temporary new world for you. That frame control is not any more a lie than the atmosphere of a different style restaurant.

Frame is a hard thing to conceptualize for some. I'm not even sure if you know what I mean. This may even be considered  an occult concept, given its ambiguity and obscurity.

You say the alternative is truth, but none of the blind men can perceive the entire elephant at once. Let alone the entire world and every available and unavailable fact, it isn't a lie for any of the blind men to take control of the narrative on how the elephant should be perceived.

Should We Trust a Liar?
-->
@Fruit_Inspector
I used to play poker for a living. I think I enjoy sales too much, to risk going back. I also don't like the direction the game is going.

I might be able to provide some perspective. You first analyze the situation independent of the eyewitness testimonies.

Now you think about if a liar would lie in the specific situation or not, and then how likely they are to think you believe their bullshit.

Body language speaks a lot . If I was heads up and faced a tough decision in poker, one decision usually benefits the other person more than the other decision.

If somebody wants you to fold to a bet, they will often stare you down, have tense facial muscles and try to look big. If they want a call, they will try to look a bit intimidated. After a while a good player learns to look like they don't give a fuck what you do. A great player, actually doesn't give a fuck what you do, and it comes across.

So this is a situation where I would say, don't trust a person liar or not. Trust the person's body language.

What about emotions.

This is a rare tell, but because it is emotional you can trust it 100% of the time. A player pushes all his chips in the middle and you have a good hand, but you notice that his hands are quivering and they have not been quivering before.

To some naive players this may look like fear. However this is one of those uncontrollable tells. He is quivering from a rush of adrenaline. He knows he will win a bunch of money if you call. It doesn't matter how good your hand is, just fold. That is unless he is a total mouth breather who thinks things are really great, but aren't.  Those types of mouth breathers are incredibly rare.

You can trust a liars emotions almost always.

What about words. If you know their motive and their personality, you can figure out what words would be honest or dishonest given the situation.

If you a person is betting into you the flop turn and river in poker and throw their hand away, so you don't see it at the end and they claim they had you beat until the 3rd spade came. You can tell they are lying and just trying to bluff you off a pot.

If you ask the person what they folded after they folded and the hand is over. They'll usually be honest.

The situation is what you judge first and then you look at emotions, and body language and then words.

If it is Christmas time and you ask the person their waist size and they say 36, you can trust it more than if it is January 15th and a person just gave up on their diet and you ask them their waist size.

It’s the core lesson of the Trump presidency - if you don’t like reality just create a new one
That's called, controlling the frame. Biden is doing well at it, and there is nothing wrong with using the strategy. The alternative is allowing somebody else to control the frame.

In short, if we locked up every prosecutor who faked evidence to get a conviction, we'd have to put the majority of our judges and DAs in jail- our legal system would collapse.
Fine by me. Corrupt officials are more dangerous than street thugs.

I don't think we have a shortage of lawyers ready to step in either, quite the opposite.

The first conspiracy you've ever expressed skepticism about in your entire life and its the most commonly agreed conspiracy in American history?  What the fuck but also typical.

I'm not expressing skepticism here. If they admitted to faking evidence that put a man in prison. They should go to prison. God knows how many people they did it too.

Other than that, you are preaching to the choir about the justice system.

the solution to this is to let nurse practitioners replace general practitioners. However doctors are unethically fighting this. Fortunately though they are starting to lose in more and more states.

So I prove everything you've said is a lie and get no apology?
Why would I apologize for being wrong? I didn't attack your character. I appear to be wrong about them. I admit it.

Trump still wants to execute the Central Park Five even after they've been exonerated
They were literally part of the mob that did the raping and random acts of violence. They are equally as guilty. This whole ideal they were innocent is ridiculous.  I don't think anyone ever thought they could pinpoint exactly who in the mob  did what specifically, only that they were a part of the violent mob and aided it. Everyone in that mob should have served time. The 5 have probably spent enough time in prison to be changed people, but were certainly a danger to society.

Other than that. Yes I appear to be wrong that the guy wearing a pink shirt was a Democrat. Yes you still seem to be exaggerating his actions. The footage I saw, it just appeared he was standing on his lawn holding a gun in a ready position, not an aimed position.

Your assertion is not a single protestor was on his property though correct?

lawyers who put Strickland in jail now admit that they falsified all of the evidence against him and are begging the Governor to remedy their misdeeds.
It's possible that you can falsify records and that person still be guilty, but what am I missing.  Why aren't the prosecutors in prison? They should definitely be there if they are admitting to faking evidence.

I don't know if Strickland is guilty or not. It might be like the wm3 who were falsely exonerated. I doubt oromagi has read the trial transcripts and knows either.

I do know that lot's of people are railroaded or innocent, it is usually because of witnesses misremembering things or being shady, like jailhouse informants who get deals

Prosecutors tend not to think of themselves as bad guys who put innocent people in jail, so fight these exonerations, but it isn't racially motivated, and it is kind of retarded to randomly think it is racially motivated based merely on the fact the defendant is black

Gov. Mike Parsons has been under constant pressure  from the Washingon Post to the Pope to pardon for three years but Parsons consistently says that the case is not a priority for him.  Last week, Parsons did pardon White Republicans Mark and Patricia McCloskey for waving an AR-15 at George Floyd protestors last summer
Bringing up their race is perhaps racist itself, but looking past this. These people were liberals who actually sided with the BLM movement prior to and after this incident.

They were merely a couple defending their home when their gate was smashed open. Once you start destroying property, it's a riot.  They were in the middle of a riot and they could have easily been overtaken by the mob.

The mob whose political ideology the couple agreed with, had no right to target them for whatever malicious intent they had on the couple or the property. They also had the right to defend their property, but in this instance, I don't see them coming out of the ordeal without at the bare minimum serious injury after being in the angry mom's sight.

This just goes to show that at any moment, any person can be turned into a political football. One day oromagi might have some apolitical thing happen to him, and he gets picked as a political football. Maybe a side he disagrees with also happens to be the only side that rightly supports him.

For this pro BLM liberal couple, the political agenda to hurt them came from the part of the political spectrum they agree with.  For the lady who sued for spilling coffee on herself, liberals defended her, even though she was a conservative.

This shit happens all the time. Some apolitical moment gets turned into a political football event. It could be anyone getting their gates smashed down and stormed by an angry mob. That mob could have easily been right wing. If the mob was right wing, conservatives would have called this couple out of line and oromagi would have defended them, being reasonable in this rare moment and pointing out that everybody should be allowed to defend themselves from an enraged mob, swarming them and their property

It's because I was addressing your hidden premise. I think it depends though. These abuses that sometimes happen will probably be split into rare occurrences and systematic things.

The male worker ants are lesser ants and the queen would be the creator ant. Same with God and lesser God's worshipped in many forms of paganism

yes it is all on a spectrum. Left to right. It's just that if a country is ever failing economically it merely needs to move further right to correct and become prosperous, and the more right it moves, the more prosperous it always becomes. The economic freedom index shows many countries that you can see went left and became poor or went more right and became more prosperous like China.

Politics is really this simple

Move to the right to fix the economy and bring prosperity to the masses

Move left to placate the masses who think moving left will help them become more prosperous.

Ideally you move right while pretending to move left, so you can simultaneously help the masses, while they also feel they are being helped.

what I am saying is clearly hyperbole. Swap the word control for undue influence. Not sure whether you are autistic and can't pick up on hyperbole or not.

Also I think you need to learn about Judaism. Israel is the holy land. Africa to blacks is the same as Europe to whites. Just some random place their ancestors came from.

Israel is a very special place to both Jews and Christians. Many Christians would soon pick up a gun to defend Israel, than they would to pick up a gun to defend their own family.
