I don't know where God came from, or if He has always existed, or anything about Him really

Too much anxiety and depression. I can't stop worrying about things. Once I took a bottle of sleeping pills when I was drunk. I just ended up puking a lot and sleeping all day. I've done this twice so I probably ducked up my kidneys or liver or something.

I am just a theist. I believe in a personal God of unknown qualities, or origin. 

I am saying there is evidence of a creator. Just not a specific one from any particular religion.

The evidence that points to a creator in general.

They have just the same evidence of YOUR God existing.

May he come to port in the sunset boat

May he go among the mperishable stars

May he journey in the boat of a million years

Nobody has any "proof" of what happens after death. You certainly don't. 

Believe what you choose. You will eventually come to realize reality is much different than you thought it was.

Yeah, organisms die. so what? That things die is no proof that the mind doesn't go on after physical bodies die. 

3 billion years of what?

I do feel that God wants us to improve ourselves. I don't believe though that we are just God in disguise, playing hide and seek with ourselves. I think we are seperate beings. I have never had an experience where I felt one with the universe,or connected to everything. I did have the experience where God wanted me to look at my behavior, so I know He is concerned with that. God has spoken to me in the past, I am waiting for Him to speak to me again. 

Have you read any Alan Watts or Stanislav Grof? Might be interesting to your views.

How do you determine what is true,and what can be discarded?

I don't think truth is relative. I just think we don't really "got it" yet.

Thanks for your thoughtful answer. I am on my kindle so I can't give you the reply you deserve. But I will say I believe you. 

I remember in my early twenties I thought people had no control over their emotions. I can't remember the circumstances why I changed my thinking on that. But I still didn't manage my emotions, just blocked them with alcohol. I stopped drinking right years ago, and have been learning slowly and painfully how to deal with things, especially fear. I am nowhere near where I want to be yet though. 

I guess I was going to discuss worldview changes, but you have piqued my interest in this subject.

Well I did ask for a change of belief. But I was looking more for a world view changing belief. 

Not really sure. Not sure if anything is, even particles or fields. 

Particles are transferring something to each other. I think that something must be tangible
