I don't have a problem with VTNL'ing in the first DP. I don't think it's scummy, but it's very out of characteristic for oromagi to do such a thing so early on
I feel like I pretty regularly opine that most of the chatter generated within these games is non-constructive and so anti-TOWN. I generally support VTNL once everybody checks in and early claims have been made so long as nobody seems to particularly merit lynching. Those conditions just kicked in unusually early this game.

My solution would be to grant work permits but not a preferred path to citizenship for our immediate neighbors Canada and Mexico and legalize drugs. All 3 countries would share the defense of the whole. If overland migration from central and south America persists, all 3 countries would fund and man a wall across the 119 mile wide Isthmus of Tehuanatepec which would prove far cheaper and easier to manage than the whole 8,500 miles of shared borders.

well, there's not much case to make, is there? I claimed wincon first but Speed says that Bullish might have set scum up and even so my claim could easily be interpreted and imitated by Sup and Pie. Sup has been advertising all week that he won't be available while also be more active than anybody. Projecting unavailability is often a scum tell. Since Pie was first on GP's wagon DP1 I'm not sure that starting a wagon exonerates much. My instinct has been to vote for myself first.
Other than that, my confidence comes from elimination. If you were self-banning scum, Sup would have cc'd cop by now therefore Sup must be scum.
It's up to you but I hardly think there's some overwhelming indicator you are missing. Just go with your gut and take comfort that the stakes are nil.

You start off talking about parties but then compare the democratic party to conservatives. Conservatives are not a US party and American conservatives as represented by traditionalists like George Will and Henry Kissinger have been voting for Democratic candidates since Trump took over the Republican party. You can be liberal and conservative at the same time. You can't be a Democrat and a Republican at the same time, at least to the extent that you must choose at the polls. Since the Republican party failed to publish a new platform in both 2016 and 2020, I don't think Republicans can be fairly criticized for not standing by ideas they have never promised to support. Officially, the only ideas the Republican Party are on the hook to support are Trump's ideas and those are so subject to Trump's present need that Republicans are required to believe opposite things on successive days.

But when I was playing that night, I wasn't going back to front of DP1 and calculating time from then. I was going by Bullish's most recent post saying 1 hr left. Since the rule actually says that scum must "lynch self until no mimes left" it occurred to me that the rule might be that scum must be on their own lynch train, in which case I didn't want to vote for anybody voting for themselves.
