Also, more concrete tips:
- I'm sure I'm not the first and probably won't be the last to tell you this but don't take that 8AM. Don't do it to yourself. I know you got up earlier than that in high school. I know it doesn't seem that bad. Don't do it.
- If you're the type to lift, the gym is usually packed from roughly 4-8PM. Go during the day if you have a gap in your classes or at night when most people have gone home. On top of not having to compete for equipment there's something cool about lifting either in the early morning or late at night in my opinion.
- Take advantage of free food and t-shirts early on, the supply dries up. But if you really try you might be able to pull off getting free food on a very regular basis.
- Like RM said don't join something just to join it. Everyone has at least one club they're probably interested in. Go to whatever event your school probably has for students that is almost like a career fair but with all the clubs. If you're into politics there are plenty of clubs, even multiple for each of the mainstream ideologies. My school (which was, to be fair, a large state school's flagship campus) had clubs for almost anything. Think that college students aren't into knitting? Wrong. Knitting club. Might have been small but it existed. I'd find one or two that you enjoy and attend those regularly. Don't spread yourself super thin in six clubs or professional workshops or whatever just for a resume boost. Being president of one club is more impressive than a member of six.
- What Supa said about fraternities is true but the benefits are pretty negligible. Do it if you want, don't if you don't. And if you do, don't worry about the status or reputation it has as a "good" or "bad" house. Pick the one that you think you'd fit in best with. One of my friends joined a lower-middle tier fraternity and loved it, another joined the "best" one on campus and was absolutely miserable.
- Finally, this is the best one in my opinion: a lot of people go out on the weekends. I'm not into drinking or partying, so my freshman year I would rather hang out with a friend or two in their dorm room. Anyway, the laundry rooms are completely empty on Friday/Saturday nights. Don't have to worry about if a machine will be open or if someone will take your clothes out 30 seconds after your cycle ends and toss them on the floor because you hadn't come for them and the person didn't want to wait on a machine any longer like you might during busier times.

It's okay to not enjoy yourself. I hated my first two years, my third was tolerable, and finally my senior year I started to actually enjoy it. Much like on social media (and because of social media) it seems like everyone else is having the time of their lives. Some might be, many aren't. If you love college, great. If you don't, don't be discouraged and think you're the only one.

That makes very little sense. Like if he's hiding night action results then why would you vote for him? Also he later clarified that he meant "we" instead of "I" which, if you re-read with that in mind, it sounds more like a question? I don't know. I get where you're coming from that you think that's a scummy post, but I fail to see how that can both be withholding information and scummy.
I also agree that what you're saying makes more sense than the "he didn't know disc was dead, and that's scummy" folks, but still is confusing to me.

Oh ok, that makes more sense. I think that his not knowing Disc is dead feels more like it's probably town, so if you put a gun to my head I'm saying he's town but not really confident in that at this point.
And yeah he probably didn't read OP (he claims not to have) but even then it makes more sense that he's town, because if he's scum then he'd probably just assume the NK goes through (as it usually does.) There's also nothing that implies that Disc would have survived prior.
Essentially, in my head, there are limited options here.
- Croc was a protective role and protected Disc, so he just assumed Disc lived through the night. This one is obviously not the case. First, two protective roles in a game this small would be very OP. Second, if there's a watcher in this game they were almost certainly on Disc last night (with an off chance they were on Press maybe.) If they had results, they'd have outted them, so if a watcher was on Disc last night they must not have gotten any results confirming that someone had visited him (probably points to a ninja.) Anyway, the first is reason enough to conclude Croc isn't protective, the second kinda devolves into some speculation.
- Croc is town and didn't expect Disc to be the kill. He just assumed it'd be someone else. Maybe he thought press was widely townread. Maybe he figured mafia had a PR read on someone. Maybe he found Disc scummy and figured he was either mafia, and therefore wouldn't die, or mislynch bait, and therefore wouldn't die. Maybe he just didn't think. I dunno. Doesn't make much sense.
- Croc is mafia and assumed the NK did not go through. I struggle to see any reason this would be the case. If he knows the NK target he's probably going to assume that it will go through.
So of the options I can think of the first one we can mostly rule out, the third one I think makes no sense, and the second one makes very little sense, but that's more than none. So I think he's town.

Very interesting, that's worth considering. What makes you think that that's the case and not that he just didn't realize and happened to use the same word as town? I think I'd usually use "survive" as well.
My concern with scumreading him for that is that if he's scum he knows the kill is on Disc. So why would he just assume the kill didn't go through?

Hello. I have two options for my game. When you sign up pick which one you'd like. Whichever has the majority will be the game we roll with.
Option A: Bastard Game
This game will be bastard. I'm making this very clear so nobody can be upset about it. I, as the host, will participate in the thread. Say a cop claims results. I might interject "well that assumes you're a sane cop." Or if someone votes for someone else, I may say "Oh, nice bus!" even if they aren't mafia partners. Some of the stuff I say will be true, some will be lies. Up to you to decide if I'm telling the truth or if you even bother reading what I say. This game will have some sort of theme but it'll be something really simple like food or animals or something.
Option B: R6 Siege Themed
This game will be more traditional and based on the videogame Rainbow 6 Siege. For those unfamiliar with the game, each of the playable characters or "operators" has a unique ability (not unlike Apex's characters for anyone who has played that) and you switch off attacking and defending an objective in teams of five. Note: I used this theme for a live game on Lunatic's server. I will not re-use characters that were PRs in that game (and will post that list at the beginning of D1). Characters that were vanillas might or might not be re-used for vanilla and/or non-vanilla roles.
I can adjust the game for any number of players.

Yes. I also know that 1. Lynching a claim doctor is dumb regardless of if Lunatic regularly gives fake claims and 2. A no-lynch at this point isn't the end of the world since we have even numbers.

Press is behaving townie and Pie is still trying to force a lynch because of the miller claim despite agreeing earlier in the DP that this is exactly how Press played miller in his game. Don't lynch a miller just to lynch a miller. You judge them on behavior.

Definitely not true, tons of them are vindictive, power-hungry, or just straight-up evil.
To use someone you did, Thanos, for example, clearly didn't care about what he said he did, else he could've used the stones to create a universe where the resources are sufficient instead of killing people off until the resources are (side note, he wouldn't have helped that either way since by killing off half the life is also destroying half the chicken, half the beef cattle, half the wheat, half the soybeans, etc., but that's a discussion for a different thread)

I've been recently watching and playing live mafia with experts such as Lunatic, Mikal, YYW, etc.
I assume you know this, but I'll say it anyway. Just because someone has played for a long time doesn't mean they're a mafia expert. For example, I've been playing for 3-4 years and still think my town game is only okay. That said, these three are all good players, though obviously not without their faults. For example, please don't adopt YYW's arrogance ;)
Also, live mafia is different, as I'm sure you also know, so just be careful is all. I think you're probably being smart about this and recognize when something isn't good even if a good player does it, but just wanted to throw this out there.

I'm not sure what you're saying here. If it's "speed is very good, particularly as scum, so I'm extra cautious about giving him a townread, so he's staying in null" that's ok I guess.
If it's "speed is very good, particularly as scum, so by default I scumread him to avoid being wrong, therefore this is promoting him to null" it's stupid.
You can use more caution with reading a good scum player but I don't think making them scum by default is a wise strategy, and based on your statement that's what it seemed like you were doing.

I think vig shots (which the NK essentially is in this setup) are good to be guided, but not to be cemented. Being too predictable is just good for mafia more often than not.
