Spurious evidence Doc.
Not a fact in sight.
Happy Chocolate Egg weekend to you and yours Doc.
Did you know that Chocolate Egg Day is a Pagan fertility festival based upon a Pagan fertility festival?....And that's a fact.

In that context, what would a god be?
Are we talking the one that sets fire to shrubbery in order to gain peoples attention?
Or are we talking something a tad more fundamental?
Or perhaps even a woman with four arms.
As ever........God principle sound, floaty about blokes and four armed women not so.
What's your particular favourite?

I agree with your view of what most ordinary Russian people think, but are afraid to say.
And for sure Putin is a typical old style, paranoid, Russian megalomaniac.
So we wait upon Putin's demise, and the Global community will be in period of turmoil for the foreseeable future.......These situations have a tendency to arise.
As for oil:
Well anything that makes us aware of our unsustainable dependency on fossil fuels, has got to be a good thing.

I would suggest that the "balance" is actually dictated by the moderate core.
In terms of authoritative bodies we apply the labels Democrat and Republican, or Conservative and Liberal, or Left and Right.
But relative to a collective mindset, the core of the U.S (and U.K) establishment and the wider populace, is still firmly moderate.

@Athias
My point was that atheists apply their own bias and theists don't.
Isn't that just an example of bias as described in my previous comments?
A point of reduction relative to internal experiences, and faith in an assumed experience beyond that which is perceivable.
As opposed to:
A point of reduction relative to internal experiences only......Though with an understanding of the experience that is imagination.
I would suggest that Poly has a tendency derived from experience and reduced to a point, whereby she generally overthinks things. Especially things such as science and theism.
I love my wife....Scientific application could come to a reasonable conclusion about this. Though I would expect Poly to overthink the concept of love to a point of reduction that exceeds function and process......Whereby she will have a tendency to overthink love......After all, it is human to do so.
Of course, LOVE is a general term that is used to describe a wide variety of internal responses to a wide variety of perceivably external stimuli.....I love ice cream and the dog and the kids and my wife and etc etc etc.
And of course we can also apply the same general term to imaginary unperceivable external stimuli....That is to say, internally generated stimuli.....A GOD or GODS for example......Imagination as it were.

Yes.
Though I am not fully acquainted with his work.
Nonetheless, I always state that the GOD principle represents the "substance" of the Universe.
It's the extended ideas of GOD that I have a problem with.....As in Middle Eastern folk tales and the like.
So what should I look for in Spinoza?

Based upon the above, one might therefore conclude that a moderate democracy in which administrative power is not allowed become permanently established is the favourable option.
The other option being a lesser or greater tyranny.
So I would conclude that both Parties combined, makes life a lot easier for U.S. citizens.....Or more so, makes life a lot freer.
Freedom that is perhaps taken for granted.
How one might or might not capitalise upon ones freedom, is largely down to the ability of the individual to do so.
And those that don't, usually whinge continually about those that do.
And I in no way intend to denigrate the needs of those who actually can't.

For sure...But depends upon how far one chooses to take reduction.
Same with all discussions.....One picks a spot, stands on ones soap box and proclaims the data that they have taken on board.
Data usually grounded in some measure of formative conditioning (childhood brainwashing)....And then perhaps latterly contrived and modified.
Bias towards particular measures, as it were.

I don't love London.

European colonialists enslaved Africans and Africans enslaved British people (generalisations)....... I don't think that you have fully researched this issue.
You need to prove GOD first....And children learn what they are told....So not by choice...Therefore not consensual.
Yep tithes...10% tax....I thought that you didn't like tax.
And America is similarly democratic to Western Europe (generalisation). And in the true sense of the word, nowhere in Western Europe is a socialist state......You definitely haven't researched this.
In fact...There are no truly socialist states....But let's not digress.
I don't think that you ever really research your ideas.....Which is why you have to eventually resort to insulting a City. LOL.

I don't think you quite understand how the "Church" acquired it's wealth....There's nothing squeaky clean about the Church.
And there's nothing consensual about brainwashing children with religious non-sense.
And for example, there was nothing consensual about incarcerating unmarried mothers in brutal Roman Catholic sweat shops.
Over here in the U.K. the workhouse was abolished a long time ago........We sort of evolved into a more caring society.
So it's sad to see that certain sectors of U.S. society haven't evolved with the same level of social concern (morality).
I would suggest that if there is one good thing about moderate governance, it's that it freed us from RELIGIOUS TYRANNY.

Eliminating welfare is just fine, until you find yourself in need of welfare.
Nonetheless.....One assumes that welfare evolved because human social morality and ethics evolved.
That is to say that we became more considerate as a species.
Though true.......We certainly haven't all evolved at the same rate.
Perhaps if people on welfare weren't allowed to vote.......How would that work for you?

If god is real, god is amoral.
This is a reasonable statement.
Is it right or wrong to initiate a Universal sequence of events?
How would a GOD know?
Perhaps this is not the first time......So either, without consideration GOD hasn't bothered to modify things, or GOD has modified things, only with consideration for it's modifications but with disregard for the outcomes of it's modifications.
Of course we like to think that we are a special outcome and therefore should receive special consideration.
But we might just be one of many standard outcomes.
If only GOD wasn't incommunicado, we could just ask it.
So perhaps we do just make this stuff up.
Or perhaps GOD is amoral.

"Testing" if you like.
And Qualia and ritual speak are derived from internal data management.....And internal data management is a seemingly remarkable, electrochemical process.
Evolved from what?
The same as everything else.......You might feel the need to include a GOD in this process.....And I just see the need for a GOD, as being an inevitable part of this process.
So we acquire, create and transfer data relative to experience.....A. Creates an internal need for a GOD, and also creates an associated database......Z. Doesn't create an internal need for a GOD, and creates an associated database.....Same electrochemical processing, slightly different conclusions reached. Output will obviously contrast, though neither is irrational in terms of process.....Both are Qualia.
Though neither proves or disproves the existence of an actual GOD.
And spirituality cannot be demonstrated to be more than an internal electro-chemical response to an external stimulus.

Well....... I think that you advocacy of unbiased social inclusion, is both admirable and liberal.
I share the same liberal principles of social inclusivity, but principles grounded in a knowledge acquired from a more moderate/realistic view of human nature.
In so much as the management of acquired data relative to any aspect of our social systems, is subject to an inevitable personal discriminatory process.
We perceive differences, we think, we make relative judgements, we conclude, we output or we store for later.

Which is slow the Government or the Law.
I'm not sure about the U.S.....But here in the U.K. the Government is a separate institution to the Law.
So you want independent Police companies that are regulated by the Government of the day, voluntarily paid for by the people?
Now...I can see a plethora of problems with that system.....But let's just leave it there.
And I'm not sure that a murder victim is going to be calling anyone.....LOL

Created:

@TheUnderdog
You have state Police regulated by government, rather than government police.
Government Police would be private Police. which would have to be replaced every 4 years. (Hopefully)
So if you have private Policing companies ....Would they be regulated or not?.....And if regulated, then by who?......And who awards the contracts.
And if not regulated, then what?.......Sounds like trouble to me.
And just maybe, the poor conviction rate is not the fault of poor Policing, but perhaps has something to do with the legal system and it's private practitioners.

Depends upon how one chooses to define deportation.
If you just mean regularly sending the same people back across the Mexican border, then numbers will be relative to how my times in a year someone can be bothered to try and cross.
It's probably a bit of a game for some.
