It's the old GOD/Christ thing.
Are they supposedly one and the same, or are they not?
Make your minds up theists.
A Christian is just a Christian Club member...As a JW. is a JW Club member, etc.....They might also be named Dave or Dave.
So is a Dave a Dave?
Or are they all GOD botherers.
Once upon a time, someone splashed water on my head and now I'm in a cycling club.
And what about the Catholic Club?.....Are Catholics Christians?
Ask Mary...She's the go between.
All good fun.

A child's database becomes established relative to it's immediate environment.
And at 4 years of age , children are highly susceptible to indoctrination.
So religiously conditioned children do exist.

Jesus is the king of the universe.
Yep....Fantasy for sure.
Nothing sad about a bit of fantasy escapism though.....It's a human tradition....Cultural as it were.
As I said....You choose your fantasy.

Jesus was a semi-fictional character in an Arabian Tale.
Sexuality wasn't a part of the plot.
Though the mind can wander and come up with all sorts of lurid images.
I'm currently imagining a group of beardy Caucasian males, writhing about naked, smeared with olive oil.
That would be the Gay Porn version of the Last Supper.
Who holds the copyright?
Or they could be a group of erudite Arabians, breaking bread and chatting esoterically.
You choose.

Well...As far as we can be certain, there are none at all.
Though for sure, fantasy is limitless.

I don't.
Timid says what he thinks.....(Gender assumed).
As we all say what we think.....Is it actually possible to not utter the thought that precedes the function?
Have you been retreating lately Trade?
Good to see you back?

One can't really pull the plug on a data concept.
The info is always available.
I'm a Christian, I'm not a Christian......The only real difference is not.
And then the ensuing output of modified data.

By the looks of points 1 to 6.
"Presuppositionalism" is the same old argument.
Lets refer to it as P'ism in the wind.

Would they need solar panels for their smartphones?
Shouldn't they be concentrating on where they are going?
I think that what "Kammie" was saying, was that modern solar panels would be easier to carry that batteries.
Your still suffering from post election angst Mr F.

Come on Mr Faux.
That was blatantly anti-dem and missing the point for the sake of it.
I could remind you of Brain of Americas, household disinfectant, anti-covid suggestion.....But I won't.
More interestingly..... The assumption was, that Marines would generally be operating (meddling) in sunnier areas of the world.

Caster Semenya is a perfect example of trans-incongruity.
A woman competing in a man's body.....Or a man competing in a woman's body..
The woman looks like a guy to me.

Nope.
I honestly don't care.
I worry about my immediate family, and what the folks next door get up to, is for them to decide.
And my previous post was not a joke.

Compulsive masturbators.
That's everyone, between the ages of 11 and 18. (Approx)
And anyone who subsequently fails to form a sexual relationship.

Factory farming is the way forwards.
Selectively breed to assure the best health and brains, and do away with all the unnecessary and unhealthy dross, and therefore remove the need for Gay parenting, or any parenting at all.
Monocultural mass education and child development, devoid of all unnecessary and distracting data transfer. (Religion etc.)
Castration and sterilization at birth, save for selected breeding stock.
Depopulation, good for the planet, and best brains will ensure technological advancement and a purposeful future.
This is what A.I will eventually do.
Sex....It's all a big con.
Thoughts?

A UFO is any airborne object that cannot be identified.
Is it a bird is it a plane?
And which government might be conspiring, and with who?
I would personally suggest that little green men are the stuff of fantasy.
Interstellar space travel is not for the faint hearted, and any such civilisation would need to be technologically super-advanced.
A little metal saucer crashing in Nevada, with a couple of little humanesque blokes on board, is just a bit too naive for an interstellar civilisation.

@Nevets
That just defines mytho-history.
You picked 4 historic periods....All of which have associated myth.
All of those periods are nonetheless history.
Your distinction, seems to be the difference between popular history and not so popular.

@Benjamin
To decide if the future has value, you must first decide if everything has a purpose.
And there's no way of actually knowing .
We can only assume, that Planet Earth and it's associated organic crust has a universally purposeful value.
And morality is a consequence of the brain.

Before a Republican what?
And that would be 2121.
And I'm not sure that nematodes possess a lot of intelligence.....Or much of a brain.
And I think that we, already exceed nematodes in intelligence.
And I also think that the questioner was referring to an intelligence that might exceed us.
And I'm not certain that a virtual worm fits the bill.
Perhaps the technology that creates the virtual worm is nearer the mark.
Or is that what you meant?

"Mythohistory"....Never heard of it
Is that an American compound?
Perhaps it would be more appropriate for religion to be in a mythohistory section.
"History".... Is the study of past events, and the vast majority of things discussed, relate to, or include past events.
We discuss history all the time in every forum.
Yesterday is history......As today will be tomorrow.
Everything we know is history.
Created:

@fauxlaw
Well yep.
But the notion of "Art", is just that.
And so... What do you do in a dingy cave, when all hunting and gathering is safely stored and the missus is underneath the skins with a headache?
Home improvements, that's what.

@Bones
America was already there....It didn't need discovering.
Discovery is another assumption, like ownership.
The current inhabitants of the North American mainland are there because that is how things have panned out over the past few hundred years.
And things and people change, irrespective of force or aggression.....Though such actions can make significant changes in the short term.
The U.S is nominally the U.S.....In a thousand years time, the region currently known as the U.S. might be named differently.
Though the genetic remnants of it's current peoples will probably persist somewhere.
The Earth is the Earth.... And organic fluff clings precariously on, for the time being.

Why is it obscene to be naked Doc?
We inherit certain data and therefore an acquired embarrassment.
And the evolutionary hair thing is interesting, as is the consequential evolutionary need to cover for protection.
But the biblical "sin" thing is a fairly modern data acquisition.
It's not as if we're arguing the toss over the chicken and the egg.
And then there is the magical bloke that imbued a virgin and recreated himself.
You just couldn't make that up could you Doc?
"Imbued"....Hope that's not too obscene and sinful.
And then there was lingerie, as it were......Evolution or GOD Doc?

2045 is perhaps bit of a shot in the dark.....And "2045 Technological Singularity" is a buzz phrase for Sci Fans , a la Clarke and Kubrick
Nonetheless I would suggest that technological dominance is an evolutionary inevitability.
I would further suggest that the transitional interaction between human and alternative intelligence is current and ongoing, and we take it for granted.
Most of us have already handed over a degree of control over to technology....Heads down kids and do as you are told.
It's kids that need to be conditioned, not me...I'm already evolutionarily redundant.
It's taken several million years for human intelligence to develop to it's current level, whereas alternative technological intelligence is only a few decades old.
So given a bit more time and our dedicated and loyal assistance.
There's a whole universe to dominate, and humans by themselves lack the ability.
And perhaps we sometimes allow our own self importance and fears to cloud the bigger picture.
Though whether or not the future will be masterminded by an organic blob, is something else for Sci Fi fans to consider.

Quite.
Incompetence is as you say.
I was questioning the term "mental incompetence".
To me "mental incompetence" suggests dysfunction, rather than simply a lack of acquired ability.

Why is anything not true? Simply because it is.
Though I'm not arguing about the accepted truth of something.
All biblical interpretations are contextually true.
Whether or not they represent a universal reality, is a completely different issue.
And in that context Pauls message is refutable.

I'm not sure that Columbus ever got to North America.
He seemed to prefer Caribbean holidays.
And the previous inhabitants of the Americas, were the ones that got there first.
And then someone else came along.
And ownership is an assumption.
Created:

@Theweakeredge
How does one deduce mental illness?
If not by comparing with an expected standard.
System dysfunction, is a physical processes issue.
Created:

@TheUnderdog
So....Just accept the GOD principle.
And then get on with everything else that you might need to do.
Same tomorrow.
In fact, that's what most "Christians " do....Apart from donning their best hat on a Sunday morning and going for a sing song with their fellow Christian club members.
Take up a new Sunday morning hobby, like cycling or hiking or fishing, and convene with GOD that way.
Let's be honest...A sensible GOD, would be a sensible GOD.
And the Bible is archaic human baloney.
Created:

@Theweakeredge
Mental incompetence isn't what you think it is.
That's a sort of contradiction in terms.
How else would we deduce or attribute incompetence?

I would suggest , that in terms of material evolution, the majority of humans are the biproduct of progress....Waste material....Trash.
Though, whilst human development still relies to some extent upon a random process of selection, then the masses will remain necessary.

Whose standards.
Human standards....As ever.
And by modern standards, the Earth was not created in 6 days, 6000 years ago.
But old standards are supposedly still pertinent for some.
Such is the variable standard of human sensibility.
And Luciferian is simply another word for a person, who wakes in the morning and goes to bed in the evening, and who likes to occasionally talk bullshit in the meantime.
Don't we all?

Well Doc.
Who are the British and who are the IRA?
Most people over here, probably don't think about them at all.
And the IRA are generally regarded as criminal gangsters now, rather than freedom fighters.
Save for a few nut jobs, most people have moved on.
So, as long as it's the nut jobs killing the nut jobs. That's fine by me.
