Trump Impeachment Discussion
@Pinkfreud08

Q. How to take the focus of impeachment?

A. Be a hero and blow up an Iranian general.

No archaic religions allowed.

The possibilities for immortality
-->
@Singularity
Developing the interface is the technical bit and will no doubt be achieved.

Then it might be as simple as downloading to your smartphone.

Of course you would want to do this whist you still possessed full mental acuity, so obviously it would be essential to copy during an earlier stage of your organic existence.

And therein lie a whole raft of dilemmas. Especially when the organic host dies and you have to hand management of your potentially eternal consciousness over to others.

Though I would imagine, given the exponential rate of technological development it wont be to long before self replicating technology is able to take over for itself.

And of what worth will our minds be to a vastly superior inorganic intelligence. Or more importantly, will a vastly superior intelligence consider our minds to be of any value.

The essence of you is in your consciousness, all the rest is just mush.

Every sensory response occurs within your consciousness.

Technology is simply ongoing evolution. Therefore transferring consciousness is probably inevitable.

Consciousness without the cumbersome and problematic body.

It might be heaven.

But there again, it might be hell.

Clever marketing.

@3RU7AL
Belief is your evaluation of your personal set of conditioned data.

You were largely programmed to believe most of what you think that you believe.

Once you have been formatively programmed it becomes very difficult to properly re-programme. It's very difficult to change your mind.

You don't just recall every individual bit of data and re-sequence it according to the mood of the moment.

Your personally held data is already stored in specific sequences and automatically utilised as such.

What is it that you wish to preserve?

The body or the mind.

You life occurs within your brain, your mass only supports that function.

Downloading consciousness sooner rather than later is almost a certainty.

So would you be happy to exist within an electronic device rather than within the organic device that you currently utilise?

Should abortion be legal?

@Alec
A. You asked for my "ideas" concerning the meaning of life.

    You have started secondary arguments based on my ideas.

B. Size and weight are not a necessarily the  measure of superiority.

    Otherwise Elephants would dominate the Planet, rather than cling on to a tenuous existence in receding African Game Reserves.

    And bacteria may one day wipe us all out.

Should churches give free psychological evaluations
Any one that believes in an "unknown essence"
By that very definition must be a tad "superstitious".

And I would suggest that it is not a case of "not understanding".
It's more a case of understanding what you espouse, which on the surface appears to be reasonably virtuous, but nonetheless, has no factual basis.

Your justifications and zealous Americanisms seem to be a disguise for an underlying anxiety.

I would say bad move Donald.

Though I doubt that it was Donald's decision, but rather the decision of those that pull his strings.

And also those outside influences, that pull U.S. foreign policy strings.

And Iran has some new big tough allies, as the U.S. spreads it's self righteousness more and more thinly around the world.

Keep an eye out for those hypersonics Uncle Sam!

Is the portrayal of death in battle an act of heroism?
-->
@Patmos
But that's got nothing to do with the portrayal of death in battle.

The inclusion of the word portrayal in the proposition is very specific.

There is nothing particularly heroic about pretending to be killed in battle.

It is not the possibility of an ultimate reality that others question.

It is you and your churches blind devotion to an "unknowable essence" and the associated pontification that lies therein.

Well the superiority of the mass in terms of comparative life forms is plain to see.

Is it possible for grass to have purpose and achievements beyond it's base function? It would seem unlikely.

Humans create purpose and achievements, though the question is do those actions have a greater meaning beyond Earthbound humanity itself?

Possibly, is the best answer I can give to that question.

I was at first going to pull you up on the word "completer".

But as ever I looked it up and was amused to find that "completer" was a proper word.

I would have said, more complete.

But then again, it begs the question.

How can something be more complete than complete?

Isn't something either complete or incomplete?

As stated.

I was referring to the life and not the mass.

The obvious structural differences between a person and a blade of grass do not need pointing out.

But how do you distinguish between the spark of life that exists within both?

Prostitution regulation

@Alec
Did you say that cross contamination violates the cock?
True, but seemingly unavoidable given the necessity of the situation.

My advice to you would be, if you're not interested in prostitution then simply ignore it.
Leave the prostitution thing to the operatives (gender unspecific) and their clients to worry about.

Though some might say that, you do seem to have an unhealthy fascination in the seamier sides of other peoples lives.

Some purists might argue that tying tubes is akin to abortion.
All those eggs and sperm with nowhere to go.

Blade of grass, baby.

One finds that people tend to use the term "baby" as it is somewhat more emotive.

Nonetheless, blade of grass and baby are both inert masses unless they possess life.

What is your distinction between the spark of life in a baby and that in a blade of grass?

Your higher regard for the baby is an obvious natural bias.

And my regard for equality is simply directed towards life, rather than the associated mass.

Given that the Biblical tales are at best a mythology.
Might suggest that someone was perhaps rightly or wrongly, nailed up by the Romans.
Though the truth of events has long since been both fancified and lost in translation.

And what happened to Old Joe?
He doesn't get much of a mention, considering all that he supposedly had to put up with.
Typical.

@Singularity
Christianity is a myth based hypothesis.

And Death is the off switch.

And Death is the easy bit.

It's all our stored data that is the glitch and in the end Christianity won't really help with our acquired fear of non-existence.

Dementia is a good natural coping strategy.

My ideology is.

All life is equal but shit happens.

Though shit is only shit if one decides that it is shit and at that point shit becomes an internal concept with no real necessity for any external validity.
That is to say, there is no real authority to judge human thought. That's one for our own consciences.

And you are no doubt selectively moral.
As are we all.
