@whiteflame
That being said, I've only seen one response to my post about general claims from BK and everyone else seems to be ignoring it, so I'll tag the people who are active and ask again: what does everyone think about popcorning to lock in soft claims from everyone who is active?
I think mass soft claiming is a good idea, since we don't have much info to go on right now. Instead of popcorning, perhaps we could ask Pie, who is the towniest player right now, to select people to claim - that way scum won't be able to manipulate the claiming process.

Why are we trying to get a claim from Sir (anon)?

Well, I am still rather newbish, so I am open to suggestions if I am accidentally doing something anti-town. BTW, why do you townread That2?

It's RVS anyway, so any lynch is technically a policy lynch.

Since he's online but hasn't posted a single message, I'd be down for a policy lynch - inactives that make it to late-game are a serious town liability.

@ILikePie5
You didn't tag me in your question post, you meanie >:(
I know a little bit about some popular animes, e.g. Naruto, Death Note, My Hero Academia. I haven't watched any, with the exception of RWBY, which may or may not count as an anime depending on who you ask.
I buy your miller claim, due to simple logic. Many large games have a Cop and Miller. It would be extremely risky for you to fake-claim miller when there still 6 (!) players who hadn't posted, who might have a chance to counter-claim - not even considering the 4 people who had already posted who might be non-claiming millers. It's simply too big of a risk for me to believe.

I think we should wait for the lurkers (SA, Nyx, Earth), before deciding who to policy lynch.

"me and RM if tied would have had a runoff that resulted in another tie."
The odds of that happening would be extremely low, when you consider what can happen in a close election, e.g:
- People changing their mind
- People who forgot to vote originally
- People who protest vote when seeing candidates' disgraceful behavior during the interim period (cough cough)
- etc...
If the election is truly so close that it ties twice, then you might as well flip a coin or something - no matter what you do, 50% of the userbase will be unhappy, so any tiebreaker method would be equally divisive.

@PREZ-HILTON
A simple run-off would suffice.

Probably. I understand the intent of the new policy, and I like it, but I also don't want it to be used as a weapon to settle grudges. I wouldn't be surprised if TWS and Roosovelt tried to get each other banned on the first day of the new policy as it's currently worded, lol.

"Users must treat other users with dignity and refrain from personal attacks, insults, or language that is harmful, degrading, or offensive."
Fixed it for you:
Users must treat other users with reasonable respect, and refrain from personal attacks/insults with the purpose of causing harm to another user.

1. Sure
2. The definition of "spam" is rather vague, but there needs to be some line drawn, so sure
3. Extend it to the 6 months leading up to the election.
4. There's no need for this. As shown by the last presidential election, moderators make fair decisions, despite their personal votes.
5. Arbitrary, and also unclear - if someone posts 25 posts in the 2 days before the election, does that count as "active engagement"?
6. See 4

If that was the case, 50% of the userbase would be banned on the first day.

@Sir.Lancelot
Barney got to 1795 with 41 debates. Let's statistically break them down:
- 8 full forfeits
- 20 noobsnipes
- 9 ok debates
- 4 good debates
So 13/41 of his debates were against competent opponents. Even that is in question: of his 13 decent debates, 10 were against people with a win-loss ratio of less than 50%.
So it is possible to get to almost 1800 almost solely by noobsniping.

I agree with the concept of seasons. Honestly, it's kind of annoying to see all the people sitting at 1700+, considering that every single one of them got there only by noobsniping and winning over half their debates by full forfeits. The only exception is whiteflame, who won over 80% of his debates legitimately. I'd like to see a solution that doesn't disadvantage new users too much, while also discouraging excessive noobsniping.

I'll sign up for this tournament *if and only if* the first round starts after February 24th.
BTW Tejretics, the debates have to be unrated, since rated debates don't allow voting times of one week.

Good poem, and I like the subject matter, but the rhythm feels a bit off.

Additionally, we would have to limit it as you could just say "Wikipedia, khan academy, AND the BBC website" and I would be fighting an unwinnable battle.

Agreed. I think whatever option gives the most freedom and choice to its users should be supported. Any excessive regulation will only do more harm than good - in contrast, if we allow users to do as many debates as they can handle, then eventually they'll find their own limit, whether it's 1, 5, or 25.

"I understand your frustration with the new update to DART. It does seem to be a bit unfair to require 5 unrated debates before a noob can even begin to debate rated. I can understand why you would feel that this undermines democracy on DART.I'm sorry to hear that you are considering quitting. I hope that you will reconsider and stay on DART. We need experienced debaters like you to help guide the noobs and ensure that DART remains a vibrant and engaging platform.Please don't leave us"

I suppose the new qualification requirement makes it harder to noobsnipe, which was presumably the goal. However, I am concerned at how such a fundamental change to the rating system was implemented with a lack of community consensus.

In general, DDO simply had a much lower standard for votes - ya'll would be surprised for what passed as a valid vote. You could point out an argument by one side, say that it convinced you (without giving any analysis or weighting), and it would be accepted. I remember for Mikal's debate about whether the world was a flat plate on the shell of a tortoise, half the votes against him were just grudge votes or vote bombs.

10 pages of posts overnight... I'll thoroughly catch up when I get home. From a bit of skimming, I think Wylted's claim is suspicious. Has Pie modded any other games before? We can check if he's ever put a Jester before. IIRC most mafia mods don't like Jesters because it's such an easy role.
