Would you rather that one person's lifespan was reduced by 20 years...
Similar question was solved by someone on YouTube long time ago.

Would you rather cause X amount of pain to one person, or X/100 amount of pain to each of 100 persons.

The answer is: It is better to cause X/100 amount of pain to each of 100 persons, rather than X amount of pain to one person.

It is a question of honour and justice, two moral values often ignored by many.

There is no individual step at which you reach the destination
Case closed.

Once all infinitely many steps have been completed, which as I have already demonstrated is possible
They cannot be completed. It literally takes infinite amount of individual steps that you cannot possibly make. You may make one big step, but thats not what we are talking about here.

I am not saying that movement is impossible. I am saying that in the math, there are paradoxes that cannot be explained.

DeeSantis tries to whitewash slavery in school textbooks. What a sweetheart
Slavery is bad, and it's important to teach everyone about it. It happened a long time ago, but we still talk about it because we don't want it to happen again.

Slavery is when one person owns another person. They make them do work and don't pay them. It's like treating someone like a thing instead of a person. It's not fair or kind.

Teaching that slavery is bad helps us understand that everyone deserves to be treated with respect. It doesn't matter what color your skin is or where you come from. We are all human beings, and we should all be treated equally.

When we learn about slavery, we can also learn about the people who fought against it. They wanted to make things better for everyone. They were brave and strong, and they showed us that we can make a difference too.We also learn about the mistakes that people made in the past.

Slavery was a big mistake, and it hurt a lot of people. But we can learn from those mistakes and do better in the future.By teaching that slavery is bad, we can make the world a better place. We can be kind and fair to everyone, and we can remember the people who worked hard to make things better for us. It's an important lesson for all of us to learn.

Texas Republicans are purposely drowning immigrants on the Rio Grande. Try that in a small town!
I want to talk to you about why it's bad to treat migrants bad. It's actually really easy to understand!

First, let's talk about what a migrant is. A migrant is a person who moves from one place to another. Sometimes, they move because they want to, but other times they have to move because they're in danger or they don't have enough food or water where they're from.

Now, imagine if you had to move to a new place where you don't know anyone. It would be scary, right? You might feel sad and lonely because you miss your friends and family. That's how some migrants feel.

But some people are mean to migrants. They say mean things to them or don't let them come into their country. That's not nice at all!

Everyone should be treated with kindness and love. Just because someone is from a different country doesn't mean they're bad. They're just like you and me, but they speak a different language and they eat different foods.

If we're mean to migrants, they might feel like they're not welcome anywhere. That's really sad. We want to make sure everyone feels loved and welcome.

And did you know that migrants can actually help our country? They can bring new ideas and skills that we don't have. Plus, they can work hard and pay taxes, which helps our country too.

So, it's not nice to be mean to migrants. We want to be kind and welcoming to everyone, no matter where they're from. That's the right thing to do.

Zeno's paradox
I wasnt talking about Zeno's paradox.

I was talking about each step being twice shorter than the former.

Duration of a step is irrelevant, as long as each step is twice shorter than the former. You will literally never reach the destination.

Example:

Destination is 4 meters away.

First step is 1 meter.

Second is 0.5 meters.

Third is 0.25 meters.

Fourth is 0.125 meters.

Impossible to reach destination. You literally never reach the destination despite moving closer to it with each step.

There is no step at which you reach the destination.

Well, infinity is logically impossible.

In math, there are many paradoxes.

For example, me moving closer to an object with each step being twice shorter than the former. I will move closer to that object forever, but I will never reach it.

In most cases, children who misbehave should not be spanked
-->
@Double_R
Once again, no one in this thread has claimed spanking children does’t hurt them
So you admit it hurts them.

No. Children need to learn discipline.
It was already explained that non-spanked children behave better.

When they’re at the age where I can sit down with them and explain how germs and their digestive systems work we can try another approach.
Is your brain incapable of understanding what encouragement means?

No genius, I don’t know your definition. Harmful can mean anything, so it needs to be specifically defined to stop us from talking past each other.
I see that you went on to provide it in your last post, which if I’m following right defines “hurting them” as causing depression, violence and anxiety, ultimately leading to a life of criminality and/or being a rapist, which just makes your question so much more ridiculous.
Well, science is ridiculous, yes.

The question is not whether I or anyone for that matter anyone wants this absurd outcome for their children, it’s whether the treatment I am describing will lead to such outcomes, to which my answer is an emphatic no.
Okay, maybe you are experiencing some mental blockade. The entire science disagrees with you. You saying that something wont happen is irrelevant to anything.

Spanking them at a young age *only when necessary* is only part of the equation
You have an equation?

, balancing that treatment with love apart from that is the other half which you don’t seem to think has anything to do with this conversation judging by your responses.
Balancing hate with love. Is that even love then?

To that other part I am reminded of the emotional bank account theory; every time you reprimand your child you are making a withdrawal, the more severe the reprimand the larger the withdrawal. All withdrawals need to be balanced by deposits (taking them to the park, reading to them, etc.)
Wait, what?

I haven’t read the studies you cited in detail
Dont worry. Judging by your mental abilities, you wouldnt understand them anyway.

so perhaps you can enlighten me; how much attention have any of them paid attention to the positive attention the child received? Genuinely curious. I am also wondering how many of them focused on the age group I am talking about? I look forward to being enlightened
Well, considering that every single study has shown that non-spanked kids behave better, you would have to be a literal idiot to spank your children because you assume some factor wasnt considered that maybe makes spanking okay for you. When out of hundreds of studies that were done, no study agrees with your opinion, you would have to be a literal idiot to assume that spanking makes children behave better.

Only an idiot, when presented with these two options:

1. I dont know if spanking works, science says it doesnt, therefore I wont spank
2. I dont know if spanking works, science says it doesnt, but I will ignore the science in favor of my opinion.

would choose option 2.

With a mouth that spews vitriol and hate,
Donald Trump stands upright to pontificate,
He speaks of walls and of keeping people out,
his words a poison, full of rage and doubt.

He rails against anyone who he sees as different,
calling them names with hateful intent,
his intolerance and bigotry on full display,
as he tries to get his hateful way.

From Muslim bans to border walls,
Trump's agenda is one that simply appals,
the targeting of those who don't fit his view,
this is a man whose ideas are not new.

For hate and intolerance have been done before,
and to this we must all say, "No more!",
these ideas have no place in our world,
let's all stand up and make our voice heard.

So let us unite and stand up to hate,
and let love and compassion rule our fate,
for only then can we hope to create,
a world that's accepting, loving, and great.

Merit as an aspect of Whiteness
-->
@RationalMadman
2 random sperm and egg providers are not necessarily the best parents for the children they are raising, nor adoptive or foster parents either.
Most parents are not best, just average.

In fact, parents often fail to follow science and safe environment. Parents usually dont care that much for kids to actually try their best. Parents are often too busy with work.

The only reason why parents are allowed to raise kids is due to tradition. It is traditionally believed that parents own their children.

However, that always results in inequality. Every parent is different in both wealth and will and abilities from other parents.

As long as society has traditional families, some children will be ruined from the start and some will be too rich. Traditional families dont work well.

No, tell me.
How are gender and age different.
I am curious to how you will answer this question
Letting person choose his gender doesnt affect anyone badly. Letting person choose his age in most cases is okay, however, when there are issues, such as getting the driver's license, the real age wins over trans age. When there are no issues, person is to be treated according to trans age. If a man thinks he is a 6 year old girl, who am I to tell him that he is not? I respect other people's identities.

You think it should be legal for 50-year-old who identify as 13-year-olds to have sexual relations with 13-year-olds, who are legitimately only 13 years old?
If it does no harm, I dont see why it should be illegal.

How so?
In consequences.

If you accept the idea that a 50-year-old can become a 13-year-old, then you also accept the idea that it should be possible for that 50-year-old to have relations with another 13-year-old.
It should be legal, yes, but its not. So you cannot do it.

Now you are talking about trans age, not trans gender. The two are very different. Of course, I believe that you can identify as a 13 year-old. That would be your trans age. If you are able to date a 13 year old depends on the laws of your country, not on your trans age.

They may feel that. However, the truth is that many topics arent even debated because of the existence of voters.

As a debater, you are faced with only two options:

1. Let voters vote in any way and dont attack them.
2. Attack voters and report their votes.

1 causes you to lose debates to those who do attack voters, and to lose debates to troll votes.
2 causes voters to be unwilling to vote.

So really, there is no way in which you can in long term have lots of voters and not lots of bad votes.

The two are in a dialectical struggle.

No. The wish of having certain genitals does.

I cant follow The Old Testament and the New Testament, so I follow cherry picked The New Testament
To me, The New Testament is a literal contradiction to The Old Testament.

Jesus and God in The Old Testament have literally nothing in common.

Jesus teaches love. God of The Old Testament literally just teaches war and killing.

Jesus loves children and says they should never be harmed.
God of The Old Testament sends two bears to kill 40 children.
How can anyone believe that these two are the same God is beyond me.

In fact, Jesus died exactly to abolish almost everything that god of The Old Testament did and promoted: Circumcision, Judgment, revenge, death for working on saturday, other types of death penalty used in The Old Testament, wars, God cherry-picking Israel while rejecting other nations.

So yeah, The Old Testament goes to shit.

Now, about The New Testament. The New Testament pretty much commands you to get yourself killed for Jesus and hate your life in order to enter heaven.

It also commands entirely unrealistic judgment towards homosexuals while at the same time tells us not to judge.

It also commands to marry, while at the same time says that 144,000 who entered heaven were all unmarried, while everyone else was killed and cast to hell.

Yeah, really gotta cherry pick what to follow and what not to follow.

I follow The New Testament, but only the parts that I cherry picked from it.

Contradict?

@Vegasgiants
Christianity requires faith not evidence. Science requires evidence not faith.
Christianity, as a faith, has been around for more than two millennia and has a faithful following of over 2.4 billion people worldwide. Christians believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ, who lived over 2,000 years ago and who was famously crucified and resurrected from the dead. While some may view Christianity as a mere collection of myths, there is a wealth of evidence suggesting that the religion is indeed true.

One of the most compelling pieces of evidence for the truth of Christianity is the fact that Jesus Christ himself existed. While some may dispute the veracity of the Bible or other documents, there are many historical accounts that attest to the existence of a man named Jesus who lived in the region around the Mediterranean during the early first century A.D.

Additionally, many of the stories and teachings associated with Jesus have been passed down through history and continue to be relevant today. The life and death of Jesus are also compelling pieces of evidence for Christianity's truth. Jesus' teachings encouraged love, compassion, and forgiveness, and these values continue to be central to Christian teachings today. The fact that Jesus was crucified for his beliefs also speaks to the overwhelming power of his message and the threat it posed to the status quo of his time.

Another important piece of evidence for Christianity's truth is the fact that Jesus was resurrected from the dead. This miraculous event is documented in the Bible, and there are countless accounts of Jesus appearing to his followers after his death, in some cases even eating and drinking with them. While some may argue that this event is nothing more than a myth or a fabrication, the sheer number of witnesses and the depth of detail in these accounts suggests otherwise.

The spread of Christianity is also evidence of its veracity. Despite persecution and suppression by many powerful states, the movement grew and spread rapidly throughout the world. This could be attributed to the power of the message itself, but it is also indicative of the fact that those who believed were genuinely convinced of its truth.

Lastly, Christianity has been responsible for countless positive changes throughout history. The religion has inspired great works of art, music, and literature, and has been at the forefront of numerous social justice movements. From the abolition of slavery to the civil rights movement, Christians have been at the forefront of many efforts to challenge oppression and work for a better world.

In conclusion, while some may view Christianity as nothing more than a collection of myths, there is a wealth of evidence suggesting that it is indeed true. From the existence and teachings of Jesus to the miracle of his resurrection

Simple Question.
If your genitals don't define your gender, then why does removing them affirm your gender?
Gender is defined by what you wish to be.

For example, girl who is born in boy's body. She wants to have a vagina. Her penis doesnt define her wish, it merely leaves the wish unfullfilled as long as she doesnt get vagina.

Of course, not all trans remove their genitals.

Cluster Bomb Morality
Cluster bombs are a type of explosive weapon which releases multiple smaller submunitions upon detonation. While these weapons can be effective in warfare, their use is highly controversial due to the negative impacts they have on civilian populations and the environment. In this essay, I will argue that cluster bombs should not be used because of their devastating consequences for civilians and nature alike.

First off, when cluster bombs are deployed in populated areas or close to civilian infrastructure such as schools or hospitals, innocent people often bear the brunt of these weapons’ destructive power. Cluster munitions disperse hundreds of small bomblets over a wide area; some fail to explode immediately but remain active until disturbed by an unsuspecting person who may then suffer severe injury or death from its blast radius. Furthermore, unexploded ordnance (UXO) created by failed submunitions can contaminate entire regions for years after deployment making them unsafe and unable to support human habitation until it is cleared away at great cost both financially and environmentally speaking .

Secondly ,the environmental impact caused by cluster bomb usage cannot be understated either . The destruction wrought upon ecosystems from explosions themselves is immense enough with flora being destroyed along with fauna killed outright ; however there are also other long-term effects linked with UXO contamination including soil degradation leading ultimately towards desertification . This has been seen most notably in Iraq where large swaths land have become contaminated since 2003 rendering them useless for agriculture purposes thus exacerbating food insecurity issues within certain parts Iraqi population centers .

Finally , even though proponents may claim that using such weaponry helps win wars more quickly thereby preventing further loss life overall , one must consider whether any victory achieved through means justifies its costs especially when those costs involve taking innocent lives while simultaneously destroying our planet’s ecology beyond repair ? It seems clear then that despite potential military advantages associated with deploying cluster munitions any gains made would come at too high price pay both morally ethically speaking as well economically environmentally so we must conclude therefore that they should never used again no matter what circumstances might arise.

It is not as though US forces killed Iraqi civilians in question intentionally or indiscriminately, and it is not as though US forces directly killed the entirety of these Iraqi civilians. Many were what is euphemistically called “collateral damage,” as in unintended deaths, and many were caused by the ensuing civil war.
All were caused by US invasion of Iraq and US troops. If US troops werent there, none of that would happen. But thanks for trying to justify mass murderers, also known as US troops.

In most cases, children who misbehave should not be spanked
-->
@Double_R
No, what kids understand is that if they are going to get spanked when they do something, don’t do it. Every child goes through a phase, usually dubbed the “terrible twos” where they become consumed with testing their parents to see what they can get away with. It is during this phase that they need to understand their boundaries, talking to them is not going to get it done because they aren’t at the point where they understand complex thoughts. What they understand is “no” and “pow pow”. That’s about it. If you want to go through that phase begging and pleading with your two year old to behave that’s on you.
So you prefer to hurt kids so they wont bother you? Well, thats a great parenting right there at the start.

Also, you ignored my arguments regarding encouragement, playing and guiding. I guess you cant imagine being a role-model for your child. Given your previous lies in this forum section, it is of no surprise.

Define harmful.
What? You dont know the definition?

Well, do you want for your kids to be more depressed? To have more fear and anxiety? To be more violent? To be more likely to be criminals, rapists, sadists and murderers?

Most of us sane people consider these things harmful.

Exactly why this is so stupid. I never said, suggested nor implied that I should hurt my children for my own pleasure.
Well, you in that same comment:
What they understand is “no” and “pow pow”. That’s about it. If you want to go through that phase begging and pleading with your two year old to behave that’s on you.
So you would hurt your kids so that they dont bother you. Therefore, you would hurt them for your pleasure. Now, I am not going to say that you are a psychopath and a criminal, which you are, but what surprises me is how can you lie so much just to hurt kids. Map also feel pain when not offending, in a worse way than what you feel when your kids ask you to talk with them. Maybe you just hate your kids, given your language:
What they understand is “no” and “pow pow”.

Your original statement was made in a moral context, which has nothing to do with science.
There, there. There is no need to lie.
Here is my original sentence. You probably thought I wont bother to copy it, but you were wrong.

"I just tell losers that hurt kids that they are morally and scientifically wrong.".

Notice the part "morally and scientifically wrong"
So I clearly separated morality from science.

To that, you responded:
There’s no such thing as scientifically wrong, science has nothing to do with morality.
Therefore, you attacked a claim I never even made by refuting it and by misrepresenting what "scientifically wrong" means. I never said that science has something to do with morality.
I said that something can be scientifically wrong. I have proven that. It is scientifically wrong to think: "spanking children wont hurt them", since that opinion goes contrary to literally all scientific evidence.

Then you tried to disprove my statement by going back to the very strawman that you created, also known as "scientifically wrong = morally wrong" - the claim that you attacked and the claim that I never even made. How embarrassing.

Most people try to impose their views on others.

Parents on children, friends on friends, activists on the masses.

There is not a point at which you can choose to not attack others,

and at the same time not be attacked yourself.

Cooperation often means that someone won in a struggle

and someone else lost and has to cooperate unwillingly.

I am not sure if cooperation is opposite of struggle.

People can cooperate, but even cooperation can be a result of a struggle that was lost for someone.

@Double_R
This has nothing to do with our conversation.
You claimed that you were not scientifically wrong. Now you know that you are.

I’m specifically talking about before they are capable of fully communicating. Looking through your studies, none that I have seen focus on this segment. One study I came across talked about spanking infants resulting in likely injuries, which is far from what I’m talking about. Infants are not yet capable of connecting the dots between their actions and the punishment, so hitting them is just pointless and cruel.
Kid at any age can see and experience adults around him. Kid at any age can be guided and encouraged by adults. It is possible to have communication at kid of any age. My argument was never about "fully communicating".

If kids are harmed from punishment at age when they can fully communicate, then it is safe to assume that they are harmed even more from punishnents at age when they cant fully communicate.
Your whole argument comes down to a point where kids cannot fully communicate, but somehow still understand punishments properly. Pure nonsense.

Science has shown that even a child being yelled at harms their brain, with visible negative changes to the brain that remain for a life time. Spanking children is worse. In fact, out of hundreds of scientific studies that were done on spanking, all without exception have shown that it is harmful. Children should not be spanked. It is not true that child at some age benefits from spanking. It is not true that child at some age isnt harmed from spanking. There is no "some age" where it is okay to do.

This is just stupid, as well as irrelevant to anything I’ve said
Actually, it is most relevant. If you think you should be able to hurt children for your pleasure, it follows that you cannot judge other groups in society who hurt children for their pleasure.

What is love B.K.

It might be Ice Cream for some.

It might be spanking for others.
Some children do get turned on by spanking, but most dont. Most hate it.

“If voting made any difference they wouldn’t let us do it”

- Mark Twain

“Forget the politicians. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don’t. You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own and control the corporations. They’ve long since bought and paid for the Senate, the Congress, the state houses, the city halls. They got the judges in their back pockets and they own all the big media companies, so they control just about all of the news and information you get to hear. They got you by the balls. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying. Lobbying to get what they want. Well, we know what they want. They want more for themselves and less for everybody else, but I’ll tell you what they don’t want. They don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well-informed, well-educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that. That doesn’t help them. That’s against their interests. That’s right.”
I dont know if voting makes any difference. I voted a couple of times. It just seems like great excitement over nothing. You get 2-3 candidates no matter where you live. If my choices are limited to only 2-3 candidates, and I disagree with all of them, I literally cant vote for my interests.

Trump is losing in court on his Georgia election interference case
Lol, sarcasm is not against the COC
Uh, well. Sarcasm is not as bad as direct insults. Still, I hope that people dont actually start using sarcasm as much as they did use insults before ban.
