1. OROMAGI - Oro is still undefeated and his rating is the year Germany remilitarized the Rhineland (1936). No elaboration needed.
2. RAGNAR - An invaluable user and moderator. Without him, the site crumbles... Both in the moderation realm and the debate realm. In fact, pretty sure his votes are the only thing keeping the majority of debates from being ties. He is perhaps the user I respect most.
3. SUPADUDZ - A fun user with almost unlimited energy, this guy is #1 in the forums at almost 10,000 posts. Jesus Christ. He is also a talented debater and a valued advisor for the mod team. In many ways, Supa's energy keeps the site going.

Yeah, honestly you either love live debate or you hate it. You have to YOLO and give it a shot with a topic you semi-know to really figure out if its something you enjoy doing.

It's more rare here. Some users try to... Namely Virt, Whiteflame and others. Typically what they do is record vids on Hangout or Discord or something and then upload it to youtube. Then they drop that link in debates on the site and ask for votes. I've not tried it yet, although I'm very willing.

It truly depends. There were next to no cases in my county for a long time. No one wore masks. Only recently have cases been mounting. Now, out of courtesy I am more willing to wear a mask when I'm out. (Also, I agree that it's not unconstitutional to enforce masks in a crisis situation. It's like arguing that the government cannot crack down on public nudity)

I've debated Public Forum, Congress, Lincoln Douglas, and Big Question in the NSDA for the past two years, and I took part in Nationals last year... But this year I quit NSDA. It's a cesspool that I'm glad I got out of. So no, I wasn't able to partake in online nats.

The difference is that in a live debate you are forced to make on-the-spot refutations. You can't just search up the perfect rebuttal on Google. It is a true battle of wits and charisma.

“Odysseus inclines his head. "True. But fame is a strange thing. Some men gain glory after they die, while others fade. What is admired in one generation is abhorred in another." He spread his broad hands. "We cannot say who will survive the holocaust of memory. Who knows?" He smiles. "Perhaps one day even I will be famous. Perhaps more famous than you.”

If I could hop in a time machine and go anywhere in the past, my #1 stop would be first century Judea to talk to Jesus (I suppose I would have to kidnap an Aramaic translator first - or maybe just make sure my time machine is a TARDIS).My #2 stop would be dinosaurs.

The Dem party has openly anti-Christian and immoral policies (for example, abortion). I'm not surprised Christians continue to elect Trump over the alternative.
That said, there are probably some better Republican candidates that have lost out to him. But when I say "better" I mean from a purely "Christian ethics" standpoint...
So, why don't the evangelicals choose to support a different candidate?
So, why don't the evangelicals choose to support a different candidate?
Well, most aren't involved in the primaries. That would be the way to express distaste at the selection of Trump. So that's one reason.
Secondly, other candidates don't have the ability to win that Trump seems to have. His charisma is unique, and his appeal is wider than just the Christian base. Lot's of voters recognize this and are counting on it.
Lastly, because of the historic separation of church and state, I think most Christians view candidates through the lens of policy. They analyze whether a candidate's policies line up with the Bible... Not necessary their personal character. It may or may not be right, but that is what I think happens.

Evangelicals tend to side with Trump because he is a hell of a lot better than the alternative, not because he is a virtuous figure.

I don't think static real income is a good way to measure whether Democratic or Republican policies are working. I think trends are the key. The economic potential of the South is only just now being tapped, and the exodus from Democrat states is an ongoing process. Maybe not statically, but in terms of trends, I think Republican states are outperforming Democrat ones by a fair margin.

Frankly Grey reads scummier to me. I just want to give him a 1 day shot to use his ability though

@ILikePie5
Alright, maybe. But I'll only seriously consider a vote if it's clear Speed is going to be lynched. Get some more support and I'll be tempted (like 1-2 votes away).
As much as I'd hate to vote without much evidence, if the town is in universal agreement I don't really see a reason for my biases to stand in the way.

@ILikePie5
It's not ideal.. But I want to give Grey the opportunity to give us information through his tracking ability, and I also don't quite buy needing to lynch speed. I feel that I was wrong about Pattern, so that just leaves people who have not been piled on.

And, in any case, she has been much too open (ex: https://www.debateart.com/forum/topics/4683/post-links/195586) for me to suspect much

Remind me of what it was? I can't be bothered to track it down

@Pattern
The fact that not a single user has independent reads on bearman just makes me suspect him more after the attempts to silence my opinion by dis-regarding it as tunnel vision.
Look, I just disagreed with your original reasoning. BearMan is just not hitting any of my scum alarm bells.
I've already mentioned it wasn't the strongest evidence to say he is scum; The fact that he reacted to poorly to that pressure was what was scummy. Also the fact that he finally admitted it was a mistake in a reply, but defended his action at the same time was also the scummier part.
Both of you reacted equally poorly imo. Doesn't really amount to evidence
Chris, speed, water you can dis-agree with that specific read. Do you not have any other read on the man though? I heard people saying he was being helpful to town, can you elaborate on this? How has he been helpful? The fact that he listed a bunch of characters showing he has theme knowledge? Is that quite literally it? Please. I would really like some enlightenment.
Yes, he did list characters. And that was quite helpful.
Like it or not, he's contributed a lot aside from that list.
Here are some examples:
Bear just doesn't hit my mafia alarm bell man. It's not that I haven't been paying attention to him. We can revisit the subject in DP2

EDIT: Pattern did NOT jump on board to a Speedrace lynch.
This was the post I was going off of.

@Barney
Day 1 pt. 3 - 8/25 - 2:55 PM
- Speed and BearMan continue their crackdown on Pattern, and Pattern diligently defends himself. Skittlez eventually jumps on board. Because of the combined pressure, Pattern admits he is Lunatic.
- When asked, Pattern says “If I had to guess, though scum is in those three. Chris, bear and speed.” I mostly interpret this as frustration at being caught up against the three of us.
- I eventually come online, see Pattern’s confession and the comment war that’s starting and unvote in an attempt to calm things down. That doesn’t work. Croc piles onto the bandwagon and I jump back on board.
- A user got threatened with a dox. It was taken care of. No further issues.
- Pattern makes some unexpected moves to which I say: “You were our best lead, but with post #480, and now your self-voting, (which, if mafia, would only result in self-embarrassment with those parting words) I'm willing to UNVOTE you again.” Pressure came off of Pattern greatly after my post, and for the most part things have settled into a stalemate. Verdict: Pattern is likely town. May be worth investigating though.
- Pie and Oro maintain that Speedrace is fishy with mounting pressure. Pie says that a 1st day lynch is smart, and a policy lynch of Speedrace is the most sensible choice. Pattern jumps on board, as does Grey. At the last second, That1User jumps on. Verdict: Speed is probably town.
- WaterPhoenix, Speed, Pattern, and Bear agree that a Grey lynch would be a win-win situation. Pie thinks Speed is a better candidate. Verdict: No opinion yet.

I have my suspicion of at least 1 scum but there is no way I can mount a case on DP1 against him. Tracking is the easiest way to check.
Grey said this earlier. May want to give him at least one day before we out him.

Fair enough, I just saw that you two were arguing earlier and came back to see text walls that I didn't really bother reading. I just figured the situation escalated

I guess that Pattern has a high probability of being investigated... We have one with confessed tracking ability, so I'm confident someone has an investigative ability that they can utilize here.

@Pattern
As I said above, I think you're both townies at this point.
While I agree with Speed that Pattern was the best lead... That was only true up until recent developments.
It should say something that despite me spearheading the movement to lynch him I am having enough doubt to call it off for now.
At this point, I'm willing to give Pattern the benefit of the doubt, and I encourage anyone with investigative powers to investigate him if we're still worried. I think our resources are much better spent scouting out users who have been under the radar.
As Pattern said: "An active town will eat itself in the presence of inactive scum. Inactives should always be pressured."
So, I urge you two to call off the nuclear warfare... For now, anyway. If new evidence emerges, we can discuss... But I see little use in continuing drilling that rabbit hole further.

I think it's pretty clear at this point both Speed and Pattern are townies, but this nuclear war is still interesting to watch

There are two steps to solve homelessness.
1. Make business-friendly policies that increase jobs.
2. Kill the drug trade.
Homelessness will solve itself if those two conditions are met.

@ILikePie5
It's just he keeps saying he's "planning something." But he's never openly questioned anyone here, or expressed any interest into what's going on. He has given no evidence he is following the conversation, much less concocting a master plan. I feel that either the tracking role is wasted on him, or he is more aware than we think.. and his inactivity is intentional.

After thoroughly reading both sides, I have to agree with Pattern that policy-lynching may not be the greatest idea. However, Grey may be worth questioning further. For one, who the heck is he planning to track?
