Said person is entitled, passive-aggressive, and whiny. The entitlement cost them the election. It's easier in these circumstances for the loser to fault everyone else for not choosing them as president. I take it as a sign they're projecting blame as a way of compensating for these shortcomings. Most people are easy to read after-all.
While the alternate choice may or may not be qualified, it is fundamentally clear that the latter had the better temperament of the two and that's how they won.

- Increase rating deviation for new debaters (they gain more rating if they win, but lose more rating if they lose)
- E.g. for debate 1 the rating change is x3, then for debate 2 the rating change is x2.5, until it flattens out to x1.
- Implement activity requirement - in order to remain on the leaderboard, you need to have finished a debate in a certain past time period
- Add modified rating decay - after a certain period of no debates, rating decays by 5 per week. However, rating deviation also increases.
- Full forfeitures should give reduced rating
Most of these features are implemented on online chess serves, and they have been fairly effective in accomplishing the three features of a good ELO system:
- Discourages inactivity, while also avoiding an "inactivity trap"
- Allows users to get to their real rating faster
- Encourages a few high-quality matches rather than many low-quality ones
This is a perfect suggestion.

I proposed a solution in the case that it was a tie to both Barney and Whiteflame.
Settled over a 2-round debate with 12-24 hours of posting time where both candidates can outline their respective positions. Voting period would take place over a week, giving everyone enough time. So no excuses if either of the candidates lost because their supporters couldn't get online in time.
Could be Open Voting or Judicial Decision.

I cannot emphasize just how unfazed Wylted is by this.

I promise you, beyond any rule enforcement inquiry, I care about DART the reason I am being this petty and ruthless is because I am worried about DART with you as absentee president.I am genuinely willing to drop all of it, fuck the runoff, if you prove to me you had a real secret platform and the google docs plan is real. I wanted to see it even if I lost.
I believe I've already said that the long-term strategy would permit the community to function on auto-pilot, if Wylted decided to step back anyway.
In any of the cases where he becomes absent, the vice would act as a step-in, but all minor and major decisions would be consulted through and approved by Wylted first. Which is not a problem, considering he remains in contact with the mods outside the site.
