I personally don't believe they contradict each other.

I did not say they  those verse that  I posted  above do "contradict each other". I say they contradict YOU you clown! And expose your own bible ignorance.

This is what you have said above:

@ zedvictor4' You don't even realize how much your answer reveals your ignorance of Christianity, do you?

Christians are not seeking God.   Christians don't ask people to seek God.  We say very clearly, you can't find God.

Well we know that your claims above to be in clear contradiction of what the bible and your god Jesus  has to say, DON'T WE!? Or did you miss these verses debunking your claim?

Psalm 34:10. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.

Matthew 6:33.  But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Proverbs 8:17. I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.

Act17: 27 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.

1 Chronicles 16:11.   Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.

Hebrews 11:6. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

2 Chronicles 7: 14. if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Jeremiah 29:13.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Psalm 9:10.  Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.

Psalm 14:2.  The LORD looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.

Matthew 6:33.  But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

And how ever could a qualified Pastor and Chaplin with all those "accreditations" forget this , probably the most famous verse about "seeking the lord"??

Luke 11:9-10 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Uzzah steadied the ark with his hand, in direct violation of the divine law, and he was immediately killed by the Lord for his error.

Indeed. Here was a faithful servant doing his duty in what would  only be a natural human reaction by attempting to protect  the most sacred relic of the Israelites from falling and being damaged and was killed "by the lord" for his trouble.
It would have been more believable had they simply said that it was the ark caused the death of Uzzah.  Many scientist agree (and the bible it seems) that the construction of the ark indicates some kind of "super conductor", which would account for it having to be carried on wooden poles.  Exodus 25:10-14

Its a shame that "the lord"  didn't give the Israelite artificers some good sound and detailed instructions for the construction of a decent vehicle for transporting this  deadly piece of kit over long distances and rough terrain, as he is said to have done for the sacred relic itself.

The story of the ark and its construction  is  a fascinating story, whatever one's belief.

What are the 5 principles of Reiki?

Here's how to use these principles as daily mantras or guidance.
  • Recognize and release angry feelings. The first principle, “I release angry thoughts,” focuses on improving your relationship with anger. ...
  • Recognize and let go of worry. ...
  • Practice gratitude. ...
  • Recognize your own consciousness. ...
  • Practice kindness.
Sounds like a anger-management course.

You obviously have something you want to tell.

Nope. I have something to ask,  all of my threads are questions based,  "Reverend "Tradey".

How did the enemy of god the Philistines managed to handle and open this golden coffer? It was a deadly piece of weaponry in the wrong hands by all accounts.

So go ahead Stephen, why don't you tell us your hidden and secret wisdom.

So you have started as you mean to go on.

It's just a complete impossibility  for you to have any type of real discussion without any snide slights at all isn't it Reverend "Tradey" Tradesecret?

And you should know full well what these ancient Israelite artisan priests used gold for specifically.  But I tried to forget and put aside that you really are a bible dunce.

GOLD is and always has been valuable.

True.  But why gold?  Its not the rarest  noble and exotic metal on the planet.

Culture of that day often made peace offerings in the shape of the disease or curse that happened to them.

"often"?
Well that is new to me. Care to expand?

It is hardly novel.

Then care to give us a few biblical examples of these common "offerings of  peace" of disease and cursed shaped gifts  offered to the enemy?

Yes Stephen,

The question is what were the purpose of sending then to their enemies - the enemies whose God was beating them to a pulp?

That isn't totally true, is it. But I won't go into that here. So just for once in your life, I ask you to stay on the topic of the  golden hemerobiids.

Now you may be right that it was to send another insult - and I suppose that is possible - but highly unlikely.

[A] Well unless you understand what the priests of Aron did with gold, you are never going to know.

Or it may be that it was - as cultures did in that day - want to make sure that the offending deity knew exactly what you were you saying sorry for.

Unless it wasn't a sorry but an insult.

Golden Hemorrhoids - were valuable.

see [A] above

So hardly an insult.

Then why not simply a gift of gold?  Or a herd of goats, . God was partial to having goat sacrificed for him.

I would never have thought that it was for the purpose of eating, so I suspect you are joking,

Not at all. I am quite serious.

it was obviously a payment - like a ransom. a sacrifice - and peace offering type of thing.

It could just as well have been an insult?  Do you know what these golden "emerods" even were?

Emerods
Tumors; hemorrhoids. But the hand of the LORD was heavy upon them of Ashdod, and he destroyed them, and smote them with EMERODS, even Ashdod and the coasts thereof.  1 Samuel 1:1
Commonly known as Piles. Piles (haemorrhoids) - NHS (www.nhs.uk)

And if this bible dictionary is anything to go by, it could well mean, 'here's you Ark, shuv it up your arse'? Only these Piles were golden haemorrhoids.

Can a bible story really get more silly?

The  Philistines had captured the Ark from the Israelites and it had been in their possession some months and had caused al kinds of damage to the local citizenry; they simply didn't know how it worked or how to use it? So decided it must be returned.

1 Samuel
And the ark of the Lord was in the country of the Philistines seven months.
2 And the Philistines called for the priests and the diviners, saying, What shall we do to the ark of the Lord? tell us wherewith we shall send it to his place.
3 And they said, If ye send away the ark of the God of Israel, send it not empty; but in any wise return him a trespass offering: then ye shall be healed, and it shall be known to you why his hand is not removed from you.
4 Then said they, What shall be the trespass offering which we shall return to him? They answered, Five golden emerods, and five golden mice, according to the number of the lords of the Philistines: for one plague was on you all, and on your lords.
5 Wherefore ye shall make images of your emerods, and images of your mice that mar the land; and ye shall give glory unto the God of Israel: peradventure he will lighten his hand from off you, and from off your gods, and from off your land.   King James Version (KJV)

Bible Dictionary

What did they think god  or the Israelites were going to do with these piles of gold... eat them?

I take it you are referring to that famous line supposedly spoken by the Christ? Here>.

"Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye".Matthew 7:5

So let us see who the real hypocrite is shall we;?

Who is it do you think said this about me when I had only been here a matter of weeks then Reverend "Tradey" Tradesecrete?

"The serpent, satan, whatever - he is the accuser and you follow after him. you are his disciple. From my point of view - he is slime. You know like the stuff we find after a snail has passed by. creepy.  disgusting. Ugly." \ #24

And this:

"After all,  you are the swine and the dogs that trample over the pearls.  your comments to me are like water of a ducks back".  #36

And you never really changed from that day have you? Your most recent being:

"Stupid man. Dumb as fuck. Just continue to repeat your ignorance". #161

So don't come here quoting gospel to me when you are the one that Jesus himself is referring to when he speaks of "hypocrites!Matthew 7:5 Reverend "Tradey" Tradesecret.

@Polytheist-Witch
It's a pretty common word used by pagans and polytheists. It's pretty much what the word means. You do work in relation to a god or goddess. Work would involve ritual, offerings and actual physical labor or work. It could be doing something like conservation work for Artemis. Military work for Odin or Freya. Picking up litter for Gaia. These really aren't hard concepts to grasp.

That is working for the community where I come from, Witch and highly commendable.

I realize it's hard for you because the ancient aliens are gone now and you really can't do anything with them.

Yeh, that is a bit of a bummer, that.

But even Christians are sometimes called to do work for Christ.

They are and that too is commendable. But you said " work with"  and not work for. That is why I asked you for clarity, Witch.

This could be in working in a soup kitchen or volunteer at a hospital. I realized that atheist and people who aren't atheist but aren't religious whatever you are, think this or nothing but shallow pools of stupidity

Nope. I have did a bit of work for free myself. And I don't believe there is anything "shallow" and certainly not "stupid" if you be atheist or theist. To do ` charity ` for charities sake and not for reward is much more beneficial to the human psyche, in my own opinion. It is rewarding in itself.

but we actually do do things that benefit other humans and sometimes those things are done in the name of a god or goddess.

Now I find that very interesting, Witch.  I have just started reading a book called- THE WOMAN WITH THE ALABASTER JAR.  It is about the search for the lost  and forgotten sacred feminine, "in the hope that it will help restore a healthy balance to planet Earth"  The intro claims  that the author "seeks to recover the long-suppressed, and not infrequently emotionally opposed feminine side of the Christian story".   It appears that the true role played by Mary Magdalene, the woman with the alabaster jar in scripture is a lot more interesting and goes a lot deeper than the Christian church will have us believe or wants us to know.

Sounds right up your street , Witch.  I shall keep you updated if you wish?

Thanks for such a genuine and concerned question, really appreciate it.

And you are welcome, and thank you for your simple but informative response.

You admit to harassment.

Nope. not at all., Witch.  949havoc is clearly contradicting himself and is refusing to admit it. Either these scriptures are unreliable going my his own yardstick or they are not.  He clearly said that the BIBLE

[A]
" contains a plethora of errors and contradictions". #37

which renders the bible unreliable.

He also claims that Jews and Christians;

[B]
"May not have understood the multiple ancient cultures [culture drives language] to translate correctly".#37

Which also renders the bible unreliable.

And further he says  that the authors of the BIBLE:

[C]
" Depended on manuscripts of which none were likely original", #37
Which also renders them bible unreliable.

 And has driven his point home with this;

I said that we do not have original manuscript one of any of the books of the Bible. As revealed to prophets, and as revealed by Christ during his earthly ministry......
the originals have been manipulated, mistranslated, lost, and otherwise0 made flawed by men. Fallible men#56
So going by his OWN statements that are his comments render the bible unreliable.  And only backpedalling bible dunces  such as himself and the Reverend "Tradey" Tradesecret without an E will deny this fact.

You still don't get it. do you?

Nope, I don't get what you are trying to say at all. Because your saying:

THE BIBLE:

[A]
" contains a plethora of errors and contradictions". #37

and that Jews and Christians;

[B]
"May not have understood the multiple ancient cultures [culture drives language] to translate correctly".#37

And you further these comments by adding that the authors of the BIBLE:

[C]
" Depended on manuscripts of which none were likely original", #37
So I am simply asking you, given just those three comments of yours, wouldn't this render the BIBLE unreliable?  It is a simple yes or no question that has risen from your own comments  about the BIBLE!

You want it on a solver platter, you stuck-up narcissist ?

Stop being so dramatic. I simply want you to answer my questions.

Here it is: read James 1: --- the whole bloody chapter. Do what he says, explicitly and sincerely, and do not doubt.

That would be James, one of those "imperfect men" that you write about in the same comment as the above; HERE>

1. God did not write it; men did. Men are imperfect, and it shows.#37
I won't mention the fact that THE BIBLE claims that  every word of THE BIBLE is the word of god himself. (1 Thessalonians 2:13)

I know you won't because you're already proud enough to know already.

I have read James. I also read the non-canonical gospel of Thomas where we can also read that on the strict  command of the Christ that the disciples were told to turn to James the Just as leader of the church,  not PETER and certainly not PAUL!

Too proud to admit you don't know how to find out?

Not at all. So why don't you explain?

Is the bible unreliable given your own criticisms  above at [A], [B] & [C] ?

And given that you also say:

I said that we do not have original manuscript one of any of the books of the Bible. As revealed to prophets, and as revealed by Christ during his earthly ministry......
the originals have been manipulated, mistranslated, lost, and otherwise0 made flawed by men. Fallible men#56

Does this not make the scriptures unreliable? Yes or No?

"May not have understood the multiple ancient cultures [culture drives language] to translate correctly".

and that those authors of THE BIBLE;

" Depended on manuscripts of which none were likely original",

and that THE BIBLE was created by men  that are;

" imperfect, and it shows". <<<< here again you are saying that the authors were " imperfect" and are rendering these "god breathed" scriptures unreliable.

Are you now telling me that THE BIBLE is perfect, without fault and errors contradictions? Are you now, after all of your own above comments, saying that the BIBLE IS reliable?

And are you denying that the words of THE BIBLE are "god breathed"?

If anyone is to take your own comments as honest, true and reliable, then there is only one conclusion to be reached, and that is that according to your own words, the bible is an unreliable account of  the life and times of the Christ.

What do the words "god breathed" mean to you?

Why say more of the same?

Why, indeed?  Yet here you are repeating your opinions about what you believe as regards the unreliability of the scriptures.

let's be clear about one thing. The Holy Bible is not categorically the infallible word of God. It contains a plethora of errors and contradictions, but there two glaring reasons for this fact:
1. God did not write it; men did. Men are imperfect, and it shows.

2. Any book, let alone 66 of them as generally acknowledged as canon for Christians and some Jews, subjected to the treatment of it by men over roughly three centuries in the Common Era who:
a. May not have had its best interest at heart, and, may have purposefully engaged in deceptive "translation."
b. May not have understood the multiple ancient cultures [culture drives language] to translate correctly.
c. Did not consider that translation as typically practiced is little more than dictionary-to-dictionary comparison, which expects syntax to be exact across the subject languages. It is not.

3. Depended on manuscripts of which none were likely original, compounding the above concerns.
So that will make the New Testament unreliable as any sort of accurate account of the life and times of Jesus the Christ then?

In the end, even thought not 100% accurate and infallible, the Holy Bible can be understood properly by the same means it was inspired: personal revelation from God if sought properly and sincerely.
And you have received a "personal revelation" have you? Would you like to share it with us?
How did it come about?
Was it through prayer?
When did it happen?
What was revealed to you?
How did you know it was god and not Satan ?

[1] I am tradesecret.  #18

You may well have started out as just Tradesecret, Reverend "Tradey".

  Not tradey.#18

You were the first to address yourself  as "Tradey", Reverend. HERE very last and bottom line>>>>

Tradesecret wrote: Yes you would love that - so you and the brother can say - Tradey is running away again.  #59
And it was from that^^^^^^^^^^^ point on that I have since referred to you by your chosen pet name, "Tradey"

not tradesecret.#18

Make up your fkn mind !!!! You state above that you are!!! See [1] above:  "  I am tradesecret."

not reverend.#18
But you are the Reverend ....Tradesecret.  LOOK>>> When addressing a letter to a pastor, it is polite to begin it with "The Reverend." This is a title used to address a member of the clergy including pastors and priests. The title "The Reverend" is used to describe an individual and still must be used with a name. It is not proper to simply write the title without a name following. While addressing a letter to a pastor is done in the same format as most other letters, a couple of small changes must be made.https://classroom.synonym.com/how-to-address-a-letter-to-a-pastor-12082702.html

Just Tradesecret. #18

Nope, you are the Reverend "Tradey" Tradesecret.

Your full quote:

I am tradesecret.  Not tradey. not tradesecrete. not reverend. Just Tradesecret.  #18

This is what comes of not being able to juggle all of those/your personas  REVEREND "TRADEY" TRADESECRET.  And you have the brass balls to speak of to me of integrity, wrong and right, curtesy and god!!!!!

Cut out and keep .  It may remind you of your own past claims not to mention your own correct title; Reverend.

And who is talking about voices in the head? Where in the world has this nonsense come from? I would never listen to a voice in my head - unless it was my own voice.  I don't believe God talks to us that way anyway.

That is  interesting Reverend "Tradey" Tradsecrete.  Tell me; how does god speak to you personally?

there is no real need to attempt an answer because either you won't read it properly,

Well I knew you wouldn't offer any type of answer Reverend "Tradey" Tradescrete.  Not without contradicting past statements that you have made concerning "speaking " with god yet claim that the priesthood is a "calling".

It is amazing how a little bit of curtesy might assist you IF you really are genuine in wanting answers.

Would you like reminding of your own "courtesy" shown towards me when I had only been here a matter of weeks?  And you are a  Reverend  when you claim to be a Pastor AND a Chaplain, and it was you that first referred to yourself as "Tradey" , why you do you think I always put it in quotes?

I have told you before, you need to keep up with what your other personas say and claim on your behalf..... "Tradey"
So you believe that two wrongs make a right, do you?

Nope. I believe in treating people exactly how they have  treated me.

I will take your response - as "I don't do curtesy".

And you would be wrong....AGAIN!  So kindly do not put quotes down to me that I haven't said. It's forgery and I am sure it is against forum rules.

I'm not ONLY relying on testimonials - but the evidence of many independent reporters from many parts of history.

Relying on?  What evidence? From who ? And why?
You may ask - but I don't see any particular reason to tell.

No surprise there then Reverend "Tradey" Tradesecret. I wouldn't expect anything different from someone that claims all those "qualifications and accreditations".
