The entire history of society is competition - Will competition destroy humans?
I don't think it's competition but disagreements that lead populations to kill each other. It's a matter of survival, meaning fear to lose resources and hence chances to survive.

That comes about at all levels. Brothers can kill each other for an inheritance or even for a woman which is more stupid. This is the human nature, unfortunatly, and I agree with you that it's necessary a sort of intervention, maybe that an allien civilization steps in to sort it all out.

I'd like to be pretty sure if you understand how AI works, because if you don't it's hard to give an authorized opinion.

I think what makes the difference between humans and the machine is creativity. We are the only creators in this world, and I'm pretty sure about it because AI is not meant to be creative for one simple reason: we don't know how creativity works in human beings, it's a mistery. Otherwise we would have by now a sort of AC (artificial creativity).

Science doesn't even have an explanation about creativity, as a consequence we can't explain how music, arts, literature, and so forth appear in our minds. Besides, creativity needs a bit of emotion and feelings to come out, that would explain why musicians and artists in general use a wide range of drugs. So, the machine doesn't have the capacity to create because they are unable to feel. I don't know who says this but the creativity doesn't come from the mind but from the heart.

I think @ebuc made a point here. The soul is what makes us human beings and differentiates us from animals. That's why I'm so categorical in this issue, you'll never see an AI laughing at a good joke or enjoying a song in a massive concert. That capacity of feeling is not learnt but innate in humans and it's a requisite to create.

AI is just a computer that can do things by learning how to do it, so it totally depends on us how it learns stuff. AI is more of a tool than a being capable of thinking by itself, let alone of feeling.

There are lot of things that the Ai will never be able to do because its innate in humans' souls, like literature, poetry, music, arts, dancing, and the like. AI has no soul.

How old was the child when you abuse him/her? Was it a boy or a girl?

While it is true that children cant decide for themselves because they are not totally conscious about what is bad or good, its also tru that there are different levels of conciousness. Its not the same a 4yo child than a 11yo one, the last knows more about morality.

And youre a very lucky sob. You came out of prision alive. Good for you, and please, dont do it again. 😁

To help spread the message, I guess. It says in the Bible that Jesus had to die so that others may believe.
Jesus was a subversive and died as a subversive. The gospels are the romantic version of his subversion, like Robin Hood whose story is not actually what people tell us, his history is completely different to people's beliefs.

All my best masturbation sessions are from erotic stories, not images or videos.
Well, you might be an exception. But it shows that porn is not actually the object of addiction, unless you watch it all day long without masturbating.

I've been checking the history of Ted Bundy and the dude was already mentally ill so I guess porn was a trigger to his insane behaviour rather than a factor to his insanity.

I'm not going to convince you otherwise, Zed. You are too old to change your mind (You can be my father).

I know there are some conmen tricking others with this stuff and that's one reason why many people don't believe in it. And I agree we have to be careful with that because only very few in this world, counted on the fingers of one hand, have these skills.

But let's the science speak about it given that you are very incredulous Here in South America there was a very famous medium, I think world famous, his name was Chico Xavier, a brazilian medium. According to a study his work wasnt a hoax.

I suggest you to check that out, he wrote a very interesting book about the other side. When he was sick in a hospital, people thought he was going to die, and the tv camera spotted something like a ghost or spirit getting into his room, Chico Xavier said it was his mom, and only then he started to recover. All what I'm telling you is in a Youtube video.

@Dr.Franklin
You know what, I don't think it's addiction to porn but to masturbation. It's like when you're addicted to sex, you can't blame your sexual partner. If porn is involved in masturbation, it is just because we men need visual stimulation.

So, I don't share the same opinion with some posters here. There are even people that masturbate in public transport watching women that are close to them, which is very loco but it proves we need to watch. If there was no porn, people would manage to take photos of tight girls and use them to touch themselves.

And predictions are easy to make.

Exactly. That is why there are people with the skills to predict the future, because it's possible, but not based on observable events, this kind of predictions go beyond what our senses can perceive.

What draws the line between sculpture and building?
-->
@Intelligence_06
So is every single building, every brick is essentially carved out of some marble mining site either by machine or by our working hands. Also, every building is also sculpted in its concept stage, at least for the landmark ones, because you know, you need planning for such grandeur structures.
I think you're missing the point about "sculpting". As Zed said, sculpture has an artistic intention. I don't think a brick has an artistic meaning at all, but everything is possible nowadays with the stupid contemporary art (which is very woke).

True, but then you would be calling a telephone pole a building because people can go up there and while not recommended by any means sleep there in a sleeping bag. Heck, you would be calling Mount Rushmore a building if you use up all the rock space in the mount, for example.
You're trying to force anything to be a building assuming unlikely things. Consider the purpose to define whether it's a scultpure or a building, as Zed said. The pyramids are buildings because it's a mausoleum which is considered a building because there lives a person (a dead one, yes, but at the end it's a person in our mindset).

@Intelligence_06
Well, it's obvious that for that scale the statue of liberty had to be constructed piece by piece and then assembled, but it was conceived initially by a sculpting process at a model scale and by a sculptor, so it's a sculpture in every sense of the word.

As to the Eiffel tower, at first sight it looks like a tower (never a sculpture ), but I guess it's considered a building because there are uses in some decks, like stores and other stuff. I really don't know much about it, but if it has spaces in it to be used, then it's a building.

@YouFound_Lxam
The problem with you is that you believe the bible is indisputable only because it contains or is based on certain historical events. I mean, the bible, as many other literature books, are based on real history but at the end it is just a fictional book, we have to take it as it is.

For example, there is indeed a historical Jesus, but this man is completely different to the biblical Jesus. While the former was an average man that got married and had children, the other one is a fictional character who was born by a virgin mother, made miracles, rose from the death, and was deified by his disciples.

As Double_ R said, it's pointless to argue with Christians because everything is possible in their little heads.

But I really don't understand why you get so stubborn trying to convince everyone that the bible doesn't contradict science. Even Jordan Peterson, who I guess you admire because you have his picture in your profile, doesn't dare to regard the bible as a factual book, eventhough he recognizes the importance of Christianity for the western society. Dr. Peterson, as a psychotherapist, focus on the psychological impact of the bible, which is the same impact another self-help book can do on people. And this is his job, help people to overcome their life problems, that's why he's onto Christianity which is not the same to say he's Christian.

Christianity has a lot of credibility.

For one, the bible was written over a span of 2000 years, but has over 63,000 cross references.
Secondly, all reliable biblical scholars and even some atheist ones agree without a shadow of a doubt on Jesus's existence.
And things like Noah's Ark, letters to King David, and many more Biblical artifacts have been found to prove its legitimacy.
I almost shit my pants laughing at what you just said. 🤣

In all seriousness, stop already thinking that the bible can explain everything in this life. That's ludicrous!!! I acknowledge that the bible is a source of inspiration for millions of people but that's all, it's only a self-help set of books, no more no less. Get over it!!

-->
@FLRW
I respect your stance, but the NDEs might not be the only way to prove the afterlife.

There are experiences in which some people could communicate with the dead loved ones. And far from considering these experiences as hallucinations, the person that could hear a specfic dead relative was able to tell stories that no one would have ever known but only the deceaded person.

I heard a lot of stories about it, and all of them seem to have similar patterns. Of course, there might be people that take advantage of it to deceive other people, but I think the experience is real. I heard the film "Ghost" was based on a real story, so there you have how extended this experience is.

And don't take this post as an attempt to prove the existence of "the God of religions" because I'm pretty sure this doesn't exist. 😆

Disney must LOVE losing money, $900M and counting. Why? Simple. For going WOKE!!!!
-->
@TWS1405_2
I'm not going to lie, I really thought at the beginning that the movie was woke because of the characters, eventhough the main character seems to be more latino (caribbean) than black. But when I realized the director was also black it all made sense to me. I mean, I suppose a black director feels more confortable doing his job with people of his same community, I saw this behaviour in several american tv series, like the Rap Prince of Will Smith, for example. But I don't know, you tell me if I'm wrong.

As to the voice actors, most of them are well-known good actors, like the dwarf and the chinese (isnt she the Oscar winner?). So, I don't care if there was a quota system in the cast, what matters is that these actors do a good job, I think they did.

Is personal income going down even as people rush to find work?
-->
@Dr.Franklin
Why the 80's?
I really don't know. I think I heard it in a Youtube video, something related to the economic situation at that time. I mean, the american lifestyle of the 80s were depicted in several world famous tv series, so many latinos expected to find many opportunities to improve their lives if they migrated to the US, and they did, specially mexicans.

Now the landscape is completely different, zombies walking in the streets, kids killing their mates, hookers waiting their clients in broad daylight, high criminal rates. I remember that a friend of mine used to say that in the US a maildude can leave a package in your stepdoor and nobody would even touch it, now you have to put a dog to keep a watch on your property. Jesus, what went wrong, americans?

Hey Zed, sorry for asking, may I know how old you are? I guess you must be a boomer.

As a millenial, I can say one of the reasons the new generations are so sensitive and reckless, to the point they do whatever they want, is the lack of physical punishment.

Psychologists say physical punishment is not good for kids, but I think this attitude toward kids has been worse for them. Prove of it is that boomers are more reselient that those fucking snowflakes. I see all the time tiktok videos where students disrepect their teachers, and those teachers don't do anything because they are not allowed to do anything, schools can't even expel those disrespectful kids because fucking psychologists say it's wrong for the kid. I mean, what the fuck?

I don't know, Zed, but this society goes nowhere with these new generations that don't eat meat and get married with trees.

New twist in Abortion discourse pre & post Roe v Wade: Domestic Violence

Money clearly causes corruption and most of all, violent personal crimes.
If you cannot handle a particular financial situation, don't put yourself in it.
That's why I suggest abortion. You can't imagine how much trouble people can avoid with abortion. I would suggest, of course, the right to do it legally only once, because only an idiot can fall in the same mistake over and over, and these kind of idiots deserve the jail.

@TWS1405_2
Before you get more rabid as usual, I suggest you to breath deep and take a soothing herb for the nerves. 😆

You asked me something and I responded you. To me, and by experience, domestic violence arises most of the time because of the money, basically when there is a common expense: a child. In Germany for example there was a high increase in domestic violence which coincides with the current economic recession.

Europeans did good when they legalized abortion, it's very practical and can solve future problems.

Men are well known to either fake putting a condom on or just flat out refusing to do it while coercing the woman to capitulate to their demands to sex. If he is that adamant for condomless sex, then he accepts the responsibility of the pregnancy, not the girl/woman. Period.
That's why I suggest vasectomy, to avoid undesirable situations like this.

New twist in Abortion discourse pre & post Roe v Wade: Domestic Violence
-->
@TWS1405_2
Last I checked it was the woman who is pregnant and goes through hard psychological and harsh physiological changes to their body, not men.

Women are the socially and legally accepted primary caregiver since she was the one who was pregnant and gave birth, and has the natural mammary glands to feed the child. Men don’t.
That is irrelevant. Women are biologically designed to go through those changes and duties. It's not a bad thing as you want to put it because it's a natural process.
Please explain your statement that having a kid is “considerably worse” for men vs women - and - how it relates to the subject of this thread (increase in DV calls/cases post RvW).
Considering the current laws that in some cases overprotect women, I think the worst part of having a baby lies on men.

I don't know about the american legislation, but in my country (and very likely in most South american countries), if you don't recognize a child you are prosecuted, forced to recognize the child if the justice finds you're the father by a DNA test, and if it's necessary your employer would retain part of your salary for the alimony.

You might say, "look, Il Diavolo, that's what it follows if you have a baby", ok, but what if the person doesn't want to be a father basically because he's not financially prepared? The most logical solution is to ask the woman to abort. But what if the woman doesn't want to abort? Well, the problems come up then for the man because there would be a high pressure on him specially if the dude doesn't earn enough. And when there is pressure there is violence. People should understand that we can commit mistakes, like conceive a baby, that is why there is the abortion, to solve something we could regret later.
