You are Nadine Cross, and oh boy, are you a complicated character. You were the “Promised one”, supposed to wed the man in black, Randall Flagg, and give him a child. One day in a college dorm room with some friends, a ouija board told you your fate was to mate with an evil man. Any attempts at other relationships subsequently were sabotaged paranormally, and you had constant dreams where he visited you and made you promise yourself to him. You know your destiny is to join Flagg, as much as it twists and turns your stomach. But meeting Larry Underwood almost changed all of that. You approached him and asked him to become your lover, and if he would have said yes, things could have been so much different. But they didn’t, and after you had rejected him, he was still bitter and hurt and had moved on. The night he rejected you was the night Flagg finally seized control of you and you made the decision to join him. You are the ROLEBLOCKER! Each night you may visit another player. That player may not take any actions. You win with the mafia.

You are Randall Flagg. It’s a mystery as to what exactly you are, but even the most evil of men find you intimidating, no, unsettling even. Your constituents follow you out of fear, as you are unpredictable and known for hanging people on a cross who dis-obey you. You visit people in their nightmares, and coax them to follow you. And they know where to go. You are nearly omnipotent throughout the book and other King works. Therefore you are the MASTER JOAT. You have the following abilities: Role cop, Scout, Lookout, Ninja, Redirect. You can repeat use these abilities as much as you want, but can only choose one a night. You win with the mafia.

You are Stuart Redman, a relatively normal guy with a good head on his shoulders, who's deeply in love with Frannie Goldsmith. You're a simple guy but you always do what’s right, and because of that are elected to be the de facto police sheriff in Colorado as people try to build a new life in Boulder. You are the cop. Each night you may choose a player to investigate and they will appear innocent or guilty. You win with the town.

“Since you’ve pushed me to it, I’ll tell you exactly what I think of you. I think you’re a taker. You’ve always been one. It’s like God left some part of you out when he built you inside of me. You’re not bad. You would’ve gone bad if there was bad in you.” -Larry’s mother, Alice.

You are Larry Underwood, possibly my favorite Stephen King character of all time. You have some of the most in-depth character development of any character I’ve ever read. The quote from Alice Underwood sums up how Larry is in the beginning of the book. After struggling through the hardship of the apocalypse started by the virus “Captain Tripps” Larry goes on a journey first east from NYC to Maine, and then all the way back west to Boulder, Colorado. During your journey, you meet a lot of interesting people and face challenges that force you to either lose yourself to depression, or change and become better. Since your character develops from mentally weak in the beginning, to slowly stronger throughout the book, you are the developmental JOAT. You gain abilities of increasing use throughout the progression of the game. NP1: Miller. NP2: 1x tracker NP3: 1x watcher NP4: 1x vigilante. Abilities can only be used the night phase they are acquired. You win with the town.

You are Donald Merwin Elbert, better known as “Trashcan Man”. Weird name eh? Well You prefer it over your real name that’s for sure. You are a pyromaniac with untreated mental health issues. Luckily for you, the apocalypse killed off anyone who can stop you from burning stuff down. After a long journey west to visit the “Man in black” who keeps visiting you in your dreams, you have some pretty crazy encounters with a lunatic called “The Kid”. You escape with your life when the man in black sends a horde of wolves to kill him off, and have now devoted yourself to Flagg, AKA the man in black. Are you a bad guy? Despite devoting yourself to the baddest of bad guys, you genuinely seem good hearted and hate bullies. Your just a little crazy, that’s all. You also essentially nuked all the Vegas baddies in one of King’s most “out of the nowhere” Deus Ex Mochina endings ever, so I’d say that qualifies you as a good guy… Kinda. You are appropriately the bomb. If you are lynched, the person who hammers will explode with you. If you are killed, the person carrying out the kill on you will also die. You win with the town.

You are Tom Cullen, a retarded adult male who survived the apocalypse, and made it safely to Boulder with the help of some friends. You are one of the most lovable characters in the book, and are the only survivor of the undercover spies sent by The Committee to Vegas to get information on Randall Flagg. Flagg can invade the minds of most, but apparently not of the mentally retarded. You are the only one who made it all the way to Vegas, and actually lived to make it back to the Free Zone in Colorado. After finding Stu Redman, you two fight starvation and injuries to get back to your loved ones. You are thus the Soldier. If at any point you are the last living town member, The Town wins. You win with the town.

Warren42- “Show me a man or a woman alone and I’ll show you a saint. Give me two and they’ll fall in love. Give me three and they’ll invent the charming thing we call ‘society’. Give me four and they’ll build a pyramid. Give me five and they’ll make one an outcast. Give me six and they’ll reinvent prejudice. Give me seven and in seven years they’ll reinvent warfare. Man may have been made in the image of God, but human society was made in the image of His opposite number, and is always trying to get back home.”

You are Glenn Batemen, an associate professor of Sociology who went into retirement briefly before the apocalypse hit. You were by yourself with your newly adopted dog “Kojak” when you met with a group heading for Colorado. You tag along mostly out of curiosity about seeing the new world being built up, and have a vested interest in this because of your old career. Upon arriving in Colorado, it was your idea to form a “Reform Committee” to get together and restore some semblance of democracy. You are the loveable old man of the group. Most everyone likes you because of your friendliness, thus you are the 1x friendly neighbor. One time in the game, you may visit another player. That player will be made aware of your role and affiliation. Your target will receive the following message “Hi! You’ve been visited by your friendly neighbor warren. Warren wins with the town.” You win with the town.

Welcome to “The Stand” Mafia! This theme is a book written by Stephen King, and is considered his magnum opus. It’s the largest book he’s ever written, and to many fans of King, is considered an unparalleled masterpiece, even in comparison to his many other popular works. 

 

It is about a pandemic that starts after a patient zero for U.S. government bio weapons lab escapes, unleashing a deadly virus on the world. This virus is nicknamed “Captain Trips” and is a super flu similar to the Corona Virus but much more deadly.

This Virus wipes out 99% of the population. The survivors start seeing visions of either a friendly seeming old woman, or dark haunting images of a man in black.

Both visions guide them to either Las Vegas or Colorado, where the survivors understand they are destined to clash with the other group depending on which side they choose.

Also low-key promo: If you are interested in the theme of this game, you might want to check out the new show for it which will be premiering on December 17th, on CBS all access. I for one am pretty excited to watch it!

 

 

Standard rules apply, no editing/deleting posts, no outside communication from non mod created messages with other players in the game. All players role PM’s have a quote at the start of it, you can copy and paste the quote at the start of your PM, but when claiming please paraphrase your role pm itself. Flips will occur the following day phase. All players in this game were personally invited. I chose players I knew would be active, and put an effort it. I hate having to ping people multiple times, or find replacements, so if you got an invite it’s because I know you to be pretty active. If you have a question regarding rules please ask. I will not answer questions publicly in the phase.

If you have a question you can PM it to me. This is to avoid giving any potential game breaking information that could hurt the mafia team. I generally won’t answer questions about how roles work mechanically, unless that role is already flipped and in the graveyard. I do this just to play on the safe side as a mod, believe it or not sometimes even answering small questions can really screw over a scum team and it’s not fair to them.

Also as far as roles go, your understanding of how a role works might not be the same as mine. Sometimes I literally take a role from drafters role list and make it work mechanically as that list says it does, and sometimes I just take inspiration from the role and add my own tweaks to it. Sometimes I completely make roles up as an experiment as well. Sometimes my modding mechanics are not the same from game to game, IE if x shot roles keep their abilities on being roleblocked or not.  Everything is on the table, and I mod each game separately according to the specific vision I have for it. If there are any questions on how a role role works that isn’t in the graveyard, I will refer you to this OP to make things simple.
