I've always understood Motion Detector to work the way Whiteflame describes it. Essentially, if Moozer performs an action on someone, it should give the same result as someone else performing an action on him.
So your saying he should have just got a message saying “motion detected” instead of saying specifically the he visited someone, am I understanding that correctly? It’s suspicious because it specifically says he visited someone am I getting that correctly?

We have POE narrowed down quite a bit with Casey’s role. I don’t see it as being scummy at all either. I will throw Casey in the town pile with Whiteflame.
Banana is still technically POE though I kind of town read her too. Moozer, Joebob and earth are still POE to me, motion detector could be easily provable though but we need Joebob to out his results soon

Y'all are experienced players. Surely you know better than to no-lynch D1? Lynching brings info, keeps us on odds, and is the only way to use town-directed day power. We don't have tons of info from this day, we don't even know if we have useful PRs.
We are running out of time and there really isn't a solid lead that I can see. Lynching randomly seems kind of like we are just gonna mislynch. We had three days to find someone to lynch and we didn't get it done, so it is what it is. I admit, I had the UFC fights going all day yesterday and generally weekends will be harder for me to focus on scum hunting, so it's partially my fault as well. But I also kind of blame the inactivity, people are posting kind of the bare minimum and there isn't really a ton for me to read into rn.

If we have to no lynch, I’d prefer that to just killing off someone random or Vader specifically. Moozer rubs me the wrong way, but it’s more of a feeling at this point and I’d almost prefer to just see what happens during the NP and give town the best chance of having the most actions.

Don't love the activity = scummy. I am a college student and am quite busy on weekends. It's not indicative of town or scum by any means.
If you recall I was advocating this argument for you being town last game, and it bit me in the butt because you were actually scum. You weren't on the dp1 mislynch and I was like convinced you were town from that. Just trying not to get shafted again.

I think lunatic's response to whiteflame does feel kind of wierd and it feels like he is deflecting from moozer.
I am not deflecting from moozer. It has little to do with him personally and more to do with the fact that we've already got a claim from earth and we don't know anything about the theme anyways, so the information doesn't appear to be helping us at all. It won't until we have flips to work with, so I don't see why were pressuring people for claims rather than just looking for a lynch at this point.

It seems I am being out voted here, if moozer wants to claim I guess he can. But fundamentally I think the meta of getting 2-3 claims is kind of an old school mind set that is better suited for games with bigger pops. DP1 is behavior hunting day phase. I don't really see any good reason to target moozer other than he is an easy target type like joebob, and will probably claim easily. This information helps mafia who know the theme split, and already have only 7 players to choose from to sus out roles. Getting 2-3 claims usually just gives them ever more to work from to find power roles with POE. Many people here have admitted to lack of knowledge about the theme so I just don't see how claims help the uninformed more than the informed dp1. DP2 and up when we have flips to work with, makes more sense to me. But I won't die on this hill, kind of pointless.

I guess that m not super focused on theme here because Indian politics feels so foreign to me so character claims mean less to me, and like I said earlier mafia have the benefit of knowing the theme split so I feel like more claims dp1 just help them sus out power roles np1.

I’m not sure I fully see the tone difference stuff you mention but honestly it is the only behavior read we have to work with so far and just because I don’t see it doesn’t mean it isn’t there. Worse come worse is being willing to look at Casey as a lynch option for today but Vader I think needs to answer for his activity before the end of the day phase and if he doesn’t end up posting I would rather focus him. He was just as inactive last game and ended up being scum. Nothing irks me more than letting scum skate to the end with inactivity.

Owen feels a bit pre-defensive about his character. Gives me some slightly off vibes, I think he's experienced enough to know that scummy characters don't translate at all to alignment.
That's interesting, I feel the opposite about Owen. I figure he would just try and fake claim before claiming his real character, and the fact that he is informing us of this in advance feels more like "Hey when I inevitably claim my character it's gonna sound scummy" which feels more town when he could just lie altogether about it. I would see it as more pre-defensive maybe from a different person with more experience who is lazy and maybe doesn't wanna try and fake claim, but noobs tend to get mis-lynched for trivial things and being misunderstood, so him going out of his way to clarify that seems more of a town tell coming from him.

My character is scummy in the way that they're described as a horrible person. If I'm correct the mafia are generally the bad guys in context of the theme.I was just thinking that if I gave my claim, it would totally make me look mafia so I thought I would preadress that.
I'm with whiteflame on this, I am assuming a lot of these politicians will sound scummy in their descriptions, especially in a game designed by pie who is a very politically charged person. But I don't think he generally does good vs evil in his theme splits, so your politician sounding "scummy" doesn't really ring any alarm bells for me.

I understand your perspective on the matter, though I'll note that, especially in a game where scum can ask questions of Pie about the existence of certain characters and roles in the game, there's value in at least forcing them to ask early, since doing so later nets them more opportunities to know about existing claims. Soft claims at least require them to put themselves into a given camp, which limits their choices later on. I also think that asking about character information can reveal some behavioral info, but that's mainly a question of emphasis.
I understand all that, I am mainly bringing it up because it was a wierd theme and I figured no one here would probably be able to guess the theme split anyway, since everyone is saying they no nothing about indian politics, and I figure mafia at least will abre minimum know the theme split. If you guys are willing to put the effort into theme analysis it could be worth it, I personally am not, and will be focusing more on behavior and role analysis than character analysis since I have literally 0 clue about any indian politics, don't care to research anything, and almost didn't even want to sign up for this game because of the theme alone lol. So far you and casey seem interested in figuring out the theme and if it turns out you guys are town, it could be helpful. If either or both of you are scum, then this soft claiming thing probably will backfire. But we can play it out and see how it goes.

I feel like I’ve mentioned this to you before but I find it interesting that your default move is to force character information out rather than behavioral information when you think the game is stalled. I don’t think this is the answer and gives mafia more information to sus out power roles for essentially no reason. In your case I’ve seen you do this move as town so I’d say it’s a null move just something I inherently disagree with.

Hello! I have not played mafia before, but I have played some social games like this before that involve lying, and trying to figure out liars. One time at a family reunion we played a game like that, and I have played jackbox which has a game where you have to figure out aliens among your friends. Experience level? Uh... zero I guess?

I would say the concept is the same then as the family game you probably played, though it's slightly more in depth on the forums. You will probably see a lot of terminology you don't understand, a lot of it is covered in the mafia guide made by earth, but if you have any questions most people here will help you out. We are a bit theme driven on this site, so at some point early on people will probably ask for your character so we can work on figuring out the theme split.
