But they submit both votes in one post/action. If someone had two accounts for some reason and submitted each vote under a separate account, they would not be simultaneous. I submit one vote in the forum and one vote in the PMs.

You wouldn't be throwing the game, just taking a risk. As soon as it's shown I am innocent, you can try and convince people not to lynch you. Every play in this game involves doing something that might lose the game later

That’s not the way this works, and you’re not first person to pull this. As a townie my job is to stay alive and help town win. If in the 0.01% you turn out to be scum and I commit to this, I am by definition playing against my wincon
If you are 99.9% sure I am scum, and you are town, then making it easier to lynch me is worth that 1/1000 risk. You have no certainty that I will actually be lynched. If you are really town and that sure I am scum, you should be willing to make that trade in a heartbeat.

But you said you know how the vote thief role works. The vote thief steals a vote form themself. If you've played with the role before, you should know the name on the vote is only there to hide the identity of the vote thief.
But the way it should work is that whoever’s name is on the final vote gets it.

The only way to bypass Wylted’s L-1 mechanic is the Vote Thief simultaneously putting the last two votes on him.
That doesn't bypass it, because as soon as I put the first vote on him, the record would be wiped. I would have to put one vote first, even if it's a millisecond difference.

It said usually town-aligned, which already destroys your case since Austin would be just as likely to visit that site as me. Also reading that would make me not claim vote thief, because it would have told me the role is given to scum a good chunk of the time. When I go it as town, I thought giving it to scum would be unthinkable for reasons I already said. Would make zero sense for me to so this as scum.
For all you noobs, in the history of mafia on this site for sure and probably DDO, a Vote Thief has NEVER been town.

Right now, what is even your motivation for voting me? If someone hammers you today, we'll lynch them tomorrow. Barney's role would not be in the game if I was scum-aligned, and I would have no reason to assume my role would town confirm me if I was scum. Why would I not have just stolen the shirt? I'm open to compromising solely for the sake of practicality. But I will still suspect Pie in later day phases unless he actually confirms his role and it's a town-aligned one.
But if you can give a good case for someone else and rally people to it, I will consider switching my vote.
