Still thinking about what Greyparrot said. I don't buy that he decided to potentially out the most important part of his role when he didn't have to, but I can't see any reason for fakeclaiming Prophet and then deliberately drawing attention to that.
It makes him functionally null, so the goal is to draw attention away from him. He just confirmed that his role would essentially make killing him moot, so it’s basically a “you’ll only waste attention on me” play.

Suffice it to say that, while I don’t yet know the theme split, I have a pretty good idea of which characters are in this game at this point. I have some theories regarding a theme split, but as I’m not yet certain about a couple of the characters in this game, those theories are only half-baked.

It seems that both my justification for role and role mention items, but only my justification mentions items being dangerous.
Not sure what to take away from that. If you get more specifics on your role, let us know. The claim seems too specific and strange to be a fake claim, so I’d like to understand the mechanic as much as possible.

That doesn’t come off as “any item you receive is dangerous and should never be used.” It reads to me as “if you get an item, don’t use it, let me use it.” Maybe you meant it the first way, but I’d like some clarity on this. Also on how you somehow make items usable if you and only you use them.

I dont know what items do, but anyone except me will be fucked by them.Also, when I die, I get to leave items to someone so that someone will probably be fucked too.
I’m sorely tempted to ask for specific details from your PM because this is still cryptic. It should be clear what happens when you use an item vs. what happens when someone else does. If that’s not clear, then it’s worth clarifying the specifics of that mechanic. It’s also worth clarifying what you can do about someone else getting an item. Can they hand it over to you? Can you take it from them? It sounds like a pretty specialized role so details are important, especially since you’re trying to convince everyone to act a certain way and invest a lot of trust in you.

*shrug* alright, let me know if you get more specifics on how this works because that still doesn’t make sense to me. It sounds like you can somehow take items from other players, which is a role I’ve never played with before. Is there something in your role that indicates what you do to items to take away or somehow ameliorate negative effects of their usage?

Yeah, but this is the part I don’t understand. My experience with items in game is admittedly limited, but they’re usually handed to a player, not put in a pot for everyone to consider and potentially use. I can’t understand what item mechanic would work this way.

I’m not convinced, particularly since I saw you lurking two hours before I posted my thoughts on your claim (over an hour after I posted the question), but I’m going to let this drop for now. I do think it’s drawing too much attention and, like I said, doesn’t tell me if you’re more likely a TP or scum.

Barney has done it this time, committing a heinous act nearly at the stroke of midnight on April 1st, forcing me to apply the date of April 2nd... the fiend.
He has posted an Insults Workshop. Does his evil know no bounds? Worse yet, he requires participants appreciate Blackadder, a show where Rowan Atkinson speaks in full sentences! This is clearly an attempt to incite a riot from all the Mr. Bean fans out there. And don't get me started on the [placeholder] posts. Obviously padding out his forum post numbers with spam, and perhaps his most insidious work.
But the true depths of his depravity were, as yet, beyond my gaze when I glimpsed this affront to our hallowed forums. Unbeknownst to me, this cad calling himself "moderator" also has re-written the site code to make it impossible for me to institute a ban. I must first get Mike to remove him from his throne of lies, and then I will institute the dreaded ∞ ban. Until then, consider him locked away behind that symbol, an emoji to hopefully conceal some of his foul deeds.

Ah, man, that was a while back. It seems like he was claiming something akin to Survivor, but with a town alignment for some reason? It's weird. Haven't seen that anywhere online.

Can anyone link me to a role description of soldier? I think I saw Speedrace claim it once, forgot what it was though...
Best thing I could find online is that it's another name for a Vig. Might be more mechanics to consider, but I don't recall if we've played with it in previous games and I can't find examples online.

Alright, since GP appears uninterested in engaging with either of my questions, I'll just give my thoughts on his claim so far:
I think he's lying about his role. I'd say it's most likely that he is actually the role he's claiming is his fake claim (or at least something similar): Soldier.
If he was given the role of Prophet as a third party and told he had to publicly state a DP where the game would end, there would be no point in giving him a fake claim, since just claiming a DP would effectively reveal his role regardless of a claim (or at least lock him into a very small set of roles that require that - I'm not sure if there are any others). He could still be a third party or he could be scum. I haven't decided which is more likely yet.

I still don't get why this is the issue WyIted and Earth are taking with GP's claim. It doesn't change anything from a town or scum perspective if he can joint win with them. That being said, I'm not sussing Earth atm, so Unvote
I do have two questions for GP:
1. It's unclear whether you must be alive to win (and all the info I can find about the Prophet role says that varies with the game). What does your role say?
2. At the beginning of the DP, you stated that the game would end in DP5. Were you required to announce that publicly?

Most likely. At least, assuming they're telling the truth about their role.They could also be a jester trying to get lynched (if memory serves, poly lynching third parties is common)
I don’t know if Jester is what I’d be most concerned with, since there’s not a lot of incentive to lynch him early, at least not with the role claim. Don’t know how to feel about it at the moment, but it’s not like we can rely on him to confirm himself by dying at the end of DP5 (which is how the role works if I’m reading it right), since that’s so late in the game.

I did look up Prophet, and it seems they win if they guess the day on which the game ends. Based on GP’s response, I guess they joint win with town if town wins, wouldn’t be surprised if they could win with scum as well.

Having defensive town makes sense to me for two reasons.
One, scum have a lot of incentive to kill one another. It's the reason why WyIted is going so hard on the "figure out the other scum team" train at this point - he'd prefer to get rid of the other scum team while giving his more opportunities to act.
Two, the factional bulletproof is inherently less protective for town. There are six targets for town, any one of whom is more likely to have been shot during the NP than the opposing scum team, removing that bulletproof. That puts more town members at greater risk for future NPs. It strikes me that without an obvious Doc in the game or some other protective role that goes beyond an even or odd night angle, that puts town at a serious disadvantage.
