There is no explicit limit to vote changes. We gave things a week to maximize opportunity for less active users to hop on. That time also allows people to reconsider votes as much as they wish.

Sure, someone could turn revoting into spam. Even that could probably be handled easily by just looking to their final votes at the end.

Anyways, I'll get the tally updated within a few minutes.

As for my votes, that debate will most likely be my vote for how much I learned reading it. I just want to properly review the others first, which is something I did not consider important during nominations.

For misc., I am likely done. Even as the author of one post which was nominated, and having nominated content from one of the threads in the running; I just feel like only the rap battle stands out from the crowd.

Going to start with voting for one from each category. I'll likely add more later...

Ramshutu - I calculated before that he was responsible for something insane like 80% of the votes on the first page of the leaderboard (obviously no longer true),  and to this day only two people have surpassed his count. I assume those votes helped encourage people to stick around, which is massively beneficial to the site and community therein.

Derek Chauvin was not a racist - I'm obviously biased.

Rap Battle: Sir.Lancelot vs RationalMadman - This is a perfect example of things other than threads which are best awarded outside of users and debates. While it is technically structured as a debate, it's such a different kind that it'd be weird to compare it to say the humanitarian crises debates.

Voting Stage Rules
Welcome to DART’s fifth official Hall of Fame induction process! This thread is for the second stage of that process, namely, the voting stage. During this stage, users (you) may vote for the various nominees in each category (users, debates, miscellaneous) for inclusion in the Hall of Fame. The two nominees with the most votes in each category will be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
 
Any user will be able to vote for up to two nominees per category for a maximum of 6 votes per voting user. Voters may choose to vote for less than the maximum number if they choose. You may vote for any of the nominees who have advanced out of the nomination stage. The voting process will close at approximately 12:45pm, PST, on 03/23/24. Votes cast after the close of the process will not be considered.
 
When you vote, you are encouraged to offer a brief justification for, explanation of, or reason for your vote. Please also bold your votes to make them more visible.
You are permitted to change your votes within reason.
 
Those nominees with the most votes (2 per category) will be inducted into the DART Hall of Fame. In the event of a tie preventing exactly 2 inductions per category, the voting window will be extended for just those tied nominees. Those inducted will be formally honored with entries in the Hall of Fame thread.
 
There are no prerequisites or eligibility requirements for users to participate in the Hall of Fame voting process, except that they have an account on DART and are not voting/nominating from more than one account. Importantly, please don’t engage in coordinated vote trading and such, as that would be incongruous.

Never change the mechanics of gambles half way through, that is immoral.
While true, the original post specifically stated: "If voting is overwhelming in favor of certain nominees, they may skip the next phase of voting and be immediately placed into the Hall of Fame."

That said, I'm not actually attached to doing things either way. Wylted had over half of the voters in his favor, so I openly mused applying one of the built in options. Had non-Wylted voters expressed support, that would have indicated the general will of the community.

Finally, while basically meaningless with so little time before the end of the day phase, I think I'll join you...

It feels like it would be best to trim any users with 2 or less nominations. Also Wylted is at such a majority, that it may be optimal to advance him straight into the HoF without further voting.

Today is the first stage of the Hall of Fame process.
This stage will last from now until March 16th, at ~10:30 PST.

A few reminders:
  • Mass PM threads, campaigning, and coordinating votes are prohibited. If any votes are found to be coordinated, the votes will be nullified.
  • You may vote for anyone and anything you like, but do note that moderation reserves the right to veto options (such as if it's done for trolling).
  • Self voting is allowed, but please be aware that it may backfire.

For the nomination stage, you may nominate up to 3 users, 3 debates, and 3 miscellaneous (formerly just threads, now anything you'd like be it threads or otherwise) to be put into the Hall of Fame!
You may change your votes (within reason) any time before nominations close.

The most popular nominees from each shall advance to the voting stage.
If voting is overwhelming in favor of certain nominees, they may skip the next phase of voting and be immediately placed into the Hall of Fame.

UPDATE: While three from each category may be nominated, final voting will be for just two, and two from each category the winners shall be.

IwantRooseveltAgain will be banned for 30 days. Spamming the same attacks against a user, while being systemic vulgarity and invectives, also constitutes targeted harassment. This is in addition to routine but low level insults against the intelligence and more of various users; but such is a lesser matter. A few examples of the targeted harassment are as follows:

A man convicted of defaming an ordinary citizen about raping that same person…

Trump pardons drug dealers and election cheats before he left office

Disagreements are fine, it's why we're here. And heated disagreements are inevitable. We can argue, even having some level of insults, while still being civilized. If discussion is aimed at the topic instead of the users, then it's hard for anything to cross the line; even if aiming at the words of another user in the current discussion, it would be difficult for anything to merit moderation intervention.

I've never played it with a microphone. Actually hate people who cheat using discord for it.

It was in the chat boxes they were writing things like that, and voting to kill black for being an N word, pink for being an F word, etc.

Granted, I am ok with the meme of voting red first for being obvious unless there's a reason to vote someone else. However, that is targeting red for expediency, rather than say targeting red for being Native American.

Ponikshiy could do a good job. They would certainly keep the user base entertained.

I would suggest considering RationalMadman whenever he comes back from his latest ‘I quit and I’m never coming back!’ The guy is more dedicated to this site than the rest of us combined, and clearly has vision for what he wants this site to be.

Regarding the CoC the existence of this thread is fine. My biases make me assume it’s a poorly done low intellect troll bait, but I have only done the lightest of skimming… “Christians suck” is ok, “User A suck” is not. One is an attack on a belief which is likely held by many, but it not all which defines them, and the other is calling out a specific user. Some exceptional level  of vileness could cross the line, but such is thankfully rare.

You’re clearly crossing the line into targeted harassment. You could make a joke about some self appointed sherif and be fine, but when you’re tagging someone to pull them into a discussion and talking shit about them… I really hope I don’t have to break this down any further.
Please cease attacking the users instead of their ideas to which they have presented inside any single topic to which the conversation is currently taking place.

In fairness, when we like a politician it’s easy to forget that every politician is a compulsive liar.

And BTW, I dislike Clinton as well. There’s just a lot of Trump supporters who literally say “but what about Bill Clinton?!” So it’s a funny irony when Trump fails to be better (not that I expect any politician to actually be better).

Much of the problem with modern politics is that even if they came to believe guilt of their lord, they would not be able to admit it was still a crime.

Bill Clinton got a BJ, end of the effing world… Trump cheated on his pregnant wife with hookers, he’s a bastion of conservative values which every God fearing Christian man should aspire to emulate.

an academic paper that exists behind a paywall, which I view as a bit of a dick move as well as a deliberate attempt to prevent people from reading deeper into your material.
For me so long as there’s an abstract available,I’m ok with it. Granted, I’ve quoted plenty of abstracts without reading the full papers.
