What about according to the Cops ?

In a court of law.

The one that tells the best sounding  truth, is the winner in a court room, Deb.

Decline of Christianity = rise of sodomy and other evils

Well it wouldn't be hard to believe that Western world is being intentionally turned into the biblical Sodom and Gomorrah. The Western world as a whole is being dismantled not just from without but from within and with the assistance of our own governments.

Even the churches are breaking and changing the "laws of god" to accommodate the destruction of Western society, imo.

The age of the fish has gone. And they know it.

What do you think the top 2 reasons why a church would shut down. ?

Because the educated masses can read and write and think for themselves and able to question and use logic now, Deb.

Indeed. A  completely new religion, which I do not believe  Jesus ever intended create, especially in his name.  He was a failed "Messiah" as were those other Messiah's that came and went before him.
Are you saying that Jesus was not the messiah or that he could have been the messiah but failed?
I am saying that  Christians will have us believe that Jesus was the messiah, but he couldn't have been because he hadn't fulfilled the requirements of what was  expected of the expected Jewish messiah. That is why is say failed "messiah"

I believe he simply believed (or was led to believe) that he was rightful heir to the throne of Jerusalem. A returning king come to reclaim his throne and could well have been.. I believe that there is some curcumstacial evidence in the bible that suggest this... if the bible is in any way to be believed.

others.....and created a religion around it known as Christianity?

Others created Christianity and well after the death  of Jesus . IMO I believe that Jesus would have been appalled that a whole new religion had sprang up in  his name.

You seem to be saying that these events are commonplace but they are not reported because of a cover up.

I am not a conspiracy theorist, Elliot. My point is that it appears to me there is a reluctance to report these violent attacks if and when the perpetrators are "ethnic". And the Pakistani rape gang scandal was, and still is, being "covered up".....  if ex detective Maggie Oliver's word is anything to go by, and had been for 4 decades.

Ex Detective Maggie Oliver Pakistani rape gangs. Take 4 minutes and watch this.

I have heard that argument before in various contexts. It is the “argument from silence” which is basically an “argument from ignorance.”

And you are entitled to you opinion. And the only people that have been displaying "ignorance" are the authorities, including Police, social workers and local councillors. And of course MSM.

I was quite surprised when this one hit the headlines for a day. It was probably because it simply couldn't be avoided? i.e every kid in the school knew about it; in turn so did the parents.

So?  It proves nothing, I'm afraid.
For you maybe, but my point is that there are no new religions looking for a messiah.  They are all ancient.
All?
Well that will depend on a few things. And one relies of what constitutes a messiah.

There were no Christians in Palestine at the time of Jesus the Jew. In fact he, Jesus the Jew never once mentions the word Christian in the whole of the gospels and neither do the gospel authors.
I'm not trying to split hairs here, but you do realize that a Christian is a follower of Christ, right?  You are correct, there was no such thing as a Christian during the time of Christ, but it is because the term "Christian" didn't come about till after Jesus's death.
Indeed. A  completely new religion, which I do not believe  Jesus ever intended create, especially in his name.  He was a failed "Messiah" as were those other Messiah's that came and went before him.

They are all ancient.

Ok so returning to your question: "Are there any recent serious religions that show the context of a messiah after the birth of Jesus the Jew?"
My point exactly.  No formed religion after Jesus's death has a tenant of a messiah involved with it.
So?  It proves nothing, I'm afraid.  I have said: There is a branch of Christianity; preterist, that  believe Jesus has been and gone while ,Jews of which Jesus was one, are still waiting for the messiah.

“I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel" Matthew 15:24
There were no Christians in Palestine at the time of Jesus the Jew. In fact he, Jesus the Jew never once mentions the word Christian in the whole of the gospels and neither do the gospel authors.

It seems  a desperate attempt on your own part to link Jesus the Jew to something that had supposed to have happened thousands of years before in the land of Summer.

I'm curious to know your religious background, if you don't mind

I do mind.

What was the statement in the garden referring to?  Enlighten me.

Well you should first prove how the statement relates to the man Christians call Jesus the Jew messiah. It was your own claim sunshine. Not mine.

The bible also states that he was crucified for the whole W-O-R-L-D.  I'm not sure what Jesus was referring to when he said that.  Again, enlighten me.

Well again, it is yet another unsupported claim made by you. I have shown you what Jesus the Jew himself says about coming ONLY to the lost people (sheep) of
IS-RA-EL.
" “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel" Matthew 15:24 There were no Christians in Palestine at the time of Jesus the Jew. in fact he never mentions the word Christian in the whole of the gospels and neither do the gospel authors.

Point is, the idea that December 25th being an argument for you has no relevance since the bible doesn't support Christ-mass.

No my point is the myth warped around a very human Jesus concerning his date of birth was taken from a much older pagan (more likely Roman) myth. No one can say when Jesus the Jew was supposed to have been born and not even the gospel writers can agree either.

Serious, as in realistic.  Not something that is a scheme like Jim Jones, Waco Texas, aliens, etc.  I'm trying to narrow the category so I don't get a "well, some guy in Idaho says he's the messiah" thing.
Ok so returning to your question: "Are there any recent serious religions that show the context of a messiah after the birth of Jesus the Jew?"

There is a branch of Christianity; preterist, that  believe Jesus has been and gone while Jews are still waiting for the messiah.

and the most "recent serious religion" is Islam that does not believe Jesus was god or the son of god, was crucified and resurrected. Why are they wrong and you right?

Before the Christ there have been many dying and rising gods born of "virgins"
Stephen, if there are similarities to the birth of Christ, it is because the messiah was prophesied after the fall in the garden. (Bruise your heel, crush his head) .

Nothing to do with Jesus

not only for the Jews.

The bible  has Jesus categorically stating that he came ONLY to the lost tribes of IS-RA-EL

BTW, Jesus was not born on the 25th of December.  Look it up.

I don't have to look it up. I know that it is yet another myth that Christians have wrapped around a very human man they called the Christ.

Are there any recent serious religions that show the context of a messiah after the birth of Jesus?

What is a "serious religion"? Muslims do not believe Jesus was god or the son of god.

it would suggest that the woman was drunk, she assaulted a train conductor who had to go to hospital and those people are trying to keep her there until the police arrive. How true that is I don’t know.  [how true the comments are]

You also misrepresent what happened to Jesus.

Nope. Jesus' prayer to his father went unanswered.

Jesus is God, so God did not "refuse" Himself.

Yes, it is quite a quandary. The bible clears states  that Jesus was praying to his father:

Luke 22: 42-44
42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.
44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

Don't make me laugh.
So Jesus is god that needed assistance from an angelic underling "to strengthen him!?

Did any angels appear to those devout praying Christians to " strengthen" them while they watched their children die?
And Jesus prayed to himself knowing all along that he would refuse himself?

Jesus on cross did not ask to be relieved of anything.

It was a bit too late then wasn't it!/ FFS!  But what he did cry was "My god, My god why have you forsaken me"? I suppose here he was talking to himself again. and this clearly shows a complete loss of faith his "father" who is himself also..

Jesus preached to those in hades and opened gates of heaven for everyone (including you) and innocent children.

And you have biblical evidence for this do you? And does this include Judas and Satan?

Parents are able to meet and be with children in heaven.

Does Jesus himself say this?  Or is it one of his sycophants preaching it?

Can I assume you mean hell when you speak of Hades, which is believed to be a place of torment and torture?  What a lovely splendid place to send these Christian children isn't it?
Although Hades is the name of the Greek god of the underworld.

In all of three cases (and many more) every single religious grieving parent was denied what they asked for in their payers.

I already said not all prayers are answered in the way a person wants it to
Devote Christians begging and praying to  "the lord"  for the lives of their children is a simple enough request. Like I have already mentioned, they were not asking for  their mortgages to be paid off!

. I, personally, see how anyone can manage their own emotions or develop maturity, or develop spiritually if every problem or situation is solved by a snap of the fingures.  That is not the world we live in.
Stop it! FFS!
These devout, spiritual and grieving parents were asking for the lives of there precious children to be spared and saved.

2. Why would a devout Christian need to pray for faith? .

I said expression. To express faith one prays. However, one praying for faith is not unheard of. The answer as to why is personal and carries no weight on what is or is not. Only that they might feel error or struggle in something. Which is ok.
So you are trying to tell me that your omni god cannot tell the difference between he that his faithful and devout, unless he prays? That is a piss poor response from a very weak mind.

You don't know your bible too well  then,do you?

I never claimed to be perfect and am ok with not knowing everythig about the bible.  My personal knowledge does not change what God is or is not.
But you should know why god refuses to answer prayers especially after being  told to "ask and it will be given".

Your callous god refused his own sons prayer  to be relived of his burden of torture and crucifixion. The only thing he heard after begging his father to save him was crickets and tumbleweed blowing in the wind..   So I suppose asking for the life of a innocent child was far too much of an audacious request. Its a wonder the devout and grieving Christian parents were not struck down themselves for such audacity!

I'm not surprised. It is said that Jesus went to Egypt to learn stuff. I guess that's why Jesus' life up to his thirties is not told in the NT. And that's why many stories in the NT are similar to the ones in Egyptian religion, related to the HORUS or something like that.

Before the Christ there have been many dying and rising gods born of "virgins" but the one in particular that is awkward for Christians is the cult of Mithra; born of a virgin, in a stable on 25 December  over 600 years before Christ!!!! Mithraism is an off-shoot of the more ancient Persian cult of Zoroaster which was introduced into the Roman Empire around 67 BC.
Examples:
Gautama Buddha:  born of the virgin Maya  Around 600 BC

Dionysus:  Greek god, born of a virgin in a stable and turned water into wine !!!

Quirrnus:  born of a virgin and known as a Saviour.

Attis:  born of a virgin in Phrygia around 200 BC

Indra:  born of a virgin in Tibet around 700 BC.

Krishna: Hindu god, born of a virgin Devaki around 1200BC.

Adonis:  Babylonian god born of a virgin Ishtar.

Zoroaster: born of a virgin around 1500 BC.

The interesting thing about Christianity is that it most certainly borrowed from many other cults. But the one they seem to want to forget are the Sumerian cults. The very land that Abraham and all biblical characters before him had their roots.

Denial doesn't even cover it

Stephen is sooooooo hard to understand some times.
See i also thought he asked , why do they call the tree of knowledge the tree of knowledge?
But after reading it again ,
I think what he is trying to ask you is.

Did god say.
A,,,,,, Eat from the tree of knowledge.
Orrr
B,,,,,,, Do not eat from the tree of knowledge.

Maybe Tick a box is more to your liking?

□  for  ( A )
Or
□  for  ( B )

Yes, Deb. My question was clear enough for those that have taken the time to read it. As is the answer.

Here it is again, I clearly asked:

Did god say eat from the tree of knowledge or did he say do not eat from the tree of knowledge?#9

"but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil" Genesis 2:17

That would be a tick
□  for ( B )

 (✓)  correct!!
Good game , Deb.

Did god say eat from the tree of knowledge or did he say do not eat from the tree of knowledge?
You do know why its called that right?

Yes.

The tree was named The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, because if you eat from it, you will know right from wrong,

Exactly. And we would know what was or wasn't good for us without his dictates. We wouldn't any longer have to rely on his word or opinion to tell us what is true or not.

God gave us a choice; therefore, he gave us intellect and knowledge.

NOPE!
God didn't want us to have knowledge. he makes it more than clear that he wanted us to remain ignorant. And remain slaves to do his bidding and his digging. and be totally reliant on him.

He was terrified that we would become " like them" i.e. knowing our own minds to make our own decisions and think for ourselves. And part of that "knowing" was taught by the serpent lord . Who had whipped some of his own of seed into the woman. Its Yet another retelling of the Sumerian epics.

"And the LORD God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.”

Read your bible!

Oh and you do understand the tree was only a metaphor, don't you.. surely.

"God's Failed Promise Made to the Mother of Jesus."

Did you read Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, or any part of the New Testament?

Yes.
And depending on which gospel one chooses to believe, Jesus’ ministry lasted one year(some argue three+ years),  and in that time is all he seemed to have managed to do was attempt to reunite the lost tribes or “lost sheep” of Israel and failed, surround himself with rich zealots, and other rich individuals of power and influence, upset the ruling classes, say some philosophical sounding and bias things and inherited nothing but three nails, two bits of wood, and very thorny crown with a lovely view overlooking the Kidron Valley as he hung their suffering on the crucifix made from said materials and after praying to his "father" to "relieve him of his terror".
(WHICH  must be the first recorded incident where a prayer to god had gone unanswered)!  Indeed he asked his own father and is all he got was crickets..... and arrested.
And this does not in anyway resemble sitting on the throne of King David to rule over the Jews and reign over all of Jerusalem "for ever and ever", as his mother was promised.

Read your bible.

Wrong again.

Tell me;
did the Messiah Jesus rebuild the temple?
Did he unite all the tribes of IS-RA - EL?
Did he bring peace to earth?
Did he free the Jews from the Roman yoke?
These are just some of the requirements expected of the coming Messiah-

Read your bible.
1.) Jesus rebuilding the temple : Making a way for us to enter into the kingdom of heaven. Also, the temple before Jesus was the only place you could worship, now we can worship anywhere.
The temple was destroyed AD 70 and has never been rebuilt by Jesus in or after his life time. Stop talking ridiculous.

Read Josephus.

2.) He united everyone in the world, so yes he did do that.
Nope. There are many religions that do not follow Jesus and that are not Christians.. There were no Christians in Jesus' time.
Read your bible

3.) Yes he did bring a way for peace into the earth, but only by our choosing may that happen.

Nope. You are being utterly silly. There are still wars going on to this day around the world and including Jesus' own pissing ground; IS-RA-El .
Read Josephus.

4.) Yes he did free the Jews spiritually.

No. Palestine remained under Roman occupation after the crucifixion and after the fall of the Temple.
Read Josephus.

And to cover all these failed non events is all you can default to is that "everything was done -  but Spiritually". 🤣

No.

He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
It came true, not physically, but spiritually.

The Egyptian prayers were created before Jesus told his disciples about The Lord's Prayer?

Indeed that is what the records appear to show. And as I also mentioned above,  Moses had changed  the Egyptian confession in the negative known as a prayer (spell) to Ani  from   “I have not”, to laws and dictates  and reproduced them as commandments of “you shall not” .

"Happy the man who shall seize and smash your little ones against the rock!" (Psalms 137:9)

Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.” (Isaiah 13:16)

Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.” (Hosea 13:16)

But the Reverend  says  "I don't think God creating evil - whatever that is". #40😂

And also says :""  God is good and can not do evil"

While god admits to creating both "good and evil"😂

"I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil"  Isaiah 45:7😂

@WeaverofFate Thank Jesus that your debate was cancelled because

Conveniently.

And I fear that this thread of  very similar nature will also "conveniently "drop away too. Seeing he "won't be available for a week".

A Series of Biblical Debates

They could almost be the same threads asking the same  thing, Brother D.

Stephen,

why do you think the esteemed moderators still allow her to be within this forum removing one of her feet from her mouth to insert the other one all the time with her biblical mistakes?
I am guessing, entertainment value, Brother D.

"If God does exist
Priceless😂

Putin finally issued an arrest warrant for war crimes.

Tony Blair, Gordon Brown & Alastair Campbell should have warrants out for them a long time ago too.

Stephen,

Barring the fact that Miss Tradesecret doesn't show respect to Jesus by capitalizing the pronoun "He," since Jesus is God to begin with, it is more hard to believe that Jesus AS GOD raised HIMSELF from death while He was rotting away for 3 days in a tomb, like Jonah did in the great fish story for 3 days (Matthew 12:40). Jesus  copied Jonah's story in using 3 days, and couldn't come up with one of His own new stories.  :(

With all his training  the Reverend didn't stop to think before posting that verse concerning Jonah that Jonah wasn't dead inside the fish and has nothing to do with a supposedly once "dead" and resurrected Jesus...... unless of course, it is as I have maintained all long that Jesus survived the cross.

2.  Miss Tradesecret made another faux pas when she implied that our Jesus as God WAS A WEAK GOD when she said"One might also say that perhaps God has taken responsibility for sin and evil by dying on the cross".  Can you imagine a God of our standing letting others murder Him and dying on a cross, whereas I try and keep this out of discussion because of its total embarrassment for us TRUE Christians like myself in Jesus showing absolute weakness in being a God!

Well, I find it rather astonishing considering the Reverend has claimed above not to know what "evil means" in the bible!!!?#40 This tells me that the Reverend has been repeating the mantra of "The Lords Prayer" for most his life yet not knowing WTF  the words "deliver us from evil" even means!?

3. As if Miss Tradesecret wasn't embarrassed enough as you have shown with your rational refutations to her ungodly statements in this thread alone, then she has the audacity to state the following: "If God does exist,"  WTF!!!  "IF" Jesus exists as God? Huh?  She is not sure?
Takes the breath away Brother D.

Yet she continues to "preach" His word here at DEBATEART Religion Forum?!

And preaching to his congregation of over 300 too!
