This is already kinda stupid. “Hateful” is very subjective and in most cases where it can be somewhat agreed upon, context is almost never considered. Plus, I think people do have the right to be hateful. It is free speech, despite what your local professor of Islamo-Marxian Genderology would say.
You may not threaten or promote violence against any person or persons, barring hyperbole against public figures (e.g., “all politicians should be shot”). Advocacy in favor of terrorism and/or violent extremism, especially as related to hate groups as generally defined by the SPLC, is likewise prohibited.
I’ll agree with the first part since people shouldn’t feel personally threatened.
However, the line with the latter portion can become quite blurry and I’d like you to draw a more specific line. The current standard allows for “extremism” to be too relative to whatever the mods think it is. As a right-leaning libertarian on a site that is about to be owned (and has been modded) mostly by leftists, I’m not too enthusiastic.
Finally since hate speech is free speech, people should be allowed to represent hate groups. If you absolutely must restrict users in this way, however, the SPLC’s standards for what count as a hate/extremeist group are laughably low.
Sure, plenty of hate groups in here. But as you scroll through the list, you see groups that aren’t exactly white hood-wearing Neo-Nazi skinheads about to fight with Black Israelite Nationalist Panthers in some alleyway.
For example, one could recommend any of the Catholic websites and be called an extremist worthy of mod discipline. You could advocate a conspiracy theory Alex Jones spouted on Infowars, and incur mod action. You could identify with the Constitution Party, and the standards set already allow for mods to discipline you for it.
Yes, we are lucky that the mod team has shown restraint thus far, but there should never be a path to going that direction in the first place.
I don’t like such censorship, let alone on a debate website, where ideas can and should be discussed freely, even the most controversial ones.
I will add here that websites like these also present a good place for hateful beliefs to be logically torn to shreds, in front of the people who believe them.

I would like “excessive trolling” to be enforced a bit better. If someone is not interested in having a genuine discussion, only ragebaiting, you can remove them for the site. It’s pretty obvious when someone is here just to troll, and do nothing else.
I remember back on DDO the established idea was that you had users who’d only troll on occasion, so it wouldn’t get out of hand. It allowed for the fun of trolling while not completely derailing the site.
Proposition 4: New featuresWhat new features would you like to have added to the website?
Toggleable likes for the creator of a thread. I think a thread creator should have the ability to turn likes off, and possibly make them public.
I also think the “forum games” forum should have special perks where thread creators can lock their own threads, a permission that an be taken away from individual users if abused. (For example, a user could create a discussion on mafia game theory, get destroyed on a bad take, and lock the thread out of embarrassment. I would count that as an abuse of the feature). The feature would allow game mods to close their DPs without having to wait for a mod.
Next, rated debates should be the default option. Noobsniping does very little at high elo, and it’s better than those debates not being accepted. I’d argue having someone engage with the debate you started is a preferable experience, even for a noob who is about to get his ass kicked.
Finally, I think elo nullification for forfeited debates should have a threshold. I’m not sure what the current code is, but I don’t think it’s good for someone to miss out on their elo reward for winning a debate, just because their opponent forfeited a single round. Obviously there’s specifics to this, but I’m sure you get the point.
Oh almost forgot: Group PMs.
And a polls section like DDO used to have.

They should have, but town was on the back foot (at least from what we knew at the time), so yeah swinging for the fences was best. Earth couldn’t have used it, but there were other that could have, it’s just that you had to hard call that they were town
I was confirmed but there were high odds I would be the kill. So you had to choose between a guaranteed helpful result IF the target escaped death, or a 1/3 shot at a helpful result with a guarantee the target escaped death.
You made the right call.

Yeah.
Mistake #3 pertains more to Lunatic. Should NOT have used your real characters for the fake claim. You can def get away with it at times, but here, I saw tetanus and botulism and almost immediately figured out they were the silencer and freezer.
Pie being silenced while Lunatic claiming what he did still would’ve been sus, but if it weren’t for the choice to use real characters, I still, despite everything, would have considered that Lunatic gave me the tracker while Pie visited me for another reason.
Dunno if it would’ve saved Lunatic in the end, but it would have helped him a lot

It definitely was a difficult position to win from after the mislynch on Wylted.
I think there’s things you missed that made this winnable, but town def had an advantage.
Especially with Pie’s role. I think a normal investigative JOAT would’ve been better here, Whiteflame. The gifter version allows for so many confirmations.

I got the gift last night, and it was a tracker. I tracked Pie, and he visited me.
I thought about the possibility of Pie visiting me for another reason, but then I saw he was silenced. Then I saw Lunatic’s claim.
To top it all off, Lunatic used his real characters/ability names. Tetanus is infamously known by the nickname “lockjaw,” and a quick google search revealed botulism’s association to freezer as well.
From there it was just a matter of who the teammate was, which is why I faked sussing Mikal over some bullshit to bait him into thinking I didn’t have gift.
I did, so this is a CC of Mikal, coming from the guy who is town confirmed.
There were small behavior cues but I don’t think it’s worth getting into at this point. This is over.

Earth’s flip looks familiar. In Castlevania Mafia, another player was vanilla as an excuse to hide a negative utility ability.
Fun fact: The idea came from me when I was reviewing the setup for that game. For whatever reason, early versions of that game’s setup were heavy on negative utility. I felt like that would just lead to too many townies SOP claiming, so I suggested he make one of those abilities hidden from the player. I don’t remember how many negative utility roles actually made the final version of that setup, but I do remember it had a hidden sleepwalker.

I’m not sure what your issue is here. TBH, I’m not sure I’ve even played a video game you can be completely evil, outside of games that involve user creations (Minecraft and Mario Maker).
If I wanted to be evil in a Minecraft server I could, but honestly building shit is just more fun. And for Mario Maker, it comes down to the fact that you actually have to clear your own level before uploading it.

Dr.Franklin, I do not care whether or not we have military parades. This is a non-issue to me. Saying this as a libertarian.
Wylted, we do have solutions.
1. Don’t let communists into the country. Physical removal of illegal immigrants is good as well.
2. End govt subsidies for DEI/ESG consulting firms. Yes, our governments are giving the woke left funding.
3. Repeal Section 7 of the Civil Rights Act, aka Disparate Impact Theory. The woke left has been able to use S7 as a legal nailbat for decades.
For those unaware: Disparate impact theory is the idea that discrimination against protected classes (the class that is experiencing alleged discrimination) can be detected by examining the outcomes of Group A and Group B in an industry, or consumer base, etc. If one group has a worse result, it is implied they are being discriminated against.
The problem with theory is it takes equal outcomes as a given in a situation without discrimination, which implies that both groups are always making the same choice. In reality, different groups will have different ideas and therefore make different choices on average, resulting in some groups performing better than others. Because of this, reasoning based on this theory will always ignore factors that are not discrimination.
The result of this is that a DEI consulting firm can go over to a company and say “X policy is discriminatory based on not having an equitable result, you need to hire our services to protect you from such a legal risk.”… of course, the quiet part is that the consulting firm is the party most likely to file a anti-discrimination lawsuit against the company. It’s a form of legal extortion; we enable it with our laws, and subsidize the extorters with our taxpayer dollars.
Because of it, many companies end up adopting DEI policies, and hiring DEI officers to manage them… which furthers the spread of woke ideology. For media outlets, it results in the hiring of woke hacks that report in favor of progressive politics. For universities, it’s woke hacks who hammer progressive ideology into their students. For other organizations, it results in consistent woke messaging in both products and advertising.
Weaken the legs of what’s caused woke ideology to spread, and it’ll eventually fall. Off-topic from the thread, but there’s the solution.
