Anything science, law, business, technology or conspiracy theory related. Not a fan of artistically based subjective. I have terrible taste. I have degrees in business, law, health, and an AI fellowship at an IV league colleague, so I come with a small bit of book knowledge. That being said, I learn much when I debate and judge, and that is my journey.

I agree and am sad I agree. I see so much potential in this format with the right group of people.
I stay here because I learn by reading debates for judging, and by debating. Others are here to stir shit, virtue signal, and gaslight.

Children have the right to own their own bodies. Child's body does not belong to anyone other than the child.To say any different, would be to literally support slavery.
Belong... I agree. However the parents are the caretakers. They are the trustees. They are the nurturers. They are the educators, and the feeders. They have a responsibility to provide sound leadership, guidance and set examples. They have a responsibility to know that a childs mind is developing. It is a sponge. If you feed a child garbage, it will get physically unwell. If you feed a child mental garbage, it will become mentally unwell.

I like judging debates, because it gives me the quickest way to look at opposing sides. While my opinion is useless to anyone else, the art of judging is important to be able to really address personal bias. I also like reading other RFD's. If a good judge takes the time to write a proper RFD, you can learn alot of perspective on the topic, and the people. .

Mate, it is a combination of accent, and emphasis. Reading is very different then hearing. Do you agree that the delivery is just as important as the content, and when you read the content, you lose the delivery.
Re-read your rap with a latin accent, an irish accent, a north London accent, a Welsh accent, etc..
So the more complex your pattern, the more the accent and emphasis plays a role in the delivery. I am sorry my friend, however this is not a me problem.

In fairness MPS made it clear that it was a biased and subjective opinion. I see nothing wrong with it.
So I am going to add myself to the foray. I think you, RM, are a great lyricist and composer of rap narrative. I think your flow is terrible and hard to read. So while you are really good, you also suck.
Is that an insult? Is that worthy of a ban, or is that a defended, subjective and qualified opinion?
Are we expecting everyones feelings to be weaker than wet tissue paper?

RFK Jr. had a Town Hall with News Nation, and said
"I'm proud that president Trump likes me, even though I don't agree with him on most of his issues, because I don't want to alienate people, I want to bring people together."
See the snippet from The Hill on YouTube.
I am not sure what I feel about that answer. I disagree with RFK Jr. on a number of things, and I disagree with Trump on most things.... Is this pandering? Is it legitimate? Is this naive? I really don't know what to think.

In 1893 there was a mob battle between two dominant families. One was Mustard, the other was Catsup.
On Tuesday May 14th 1895 The head of the Mustard family was assassinated in a downtown Chicago hotel, while eating a taco. Hence the name "Taco Tuesday". While it was never proven, it was believed to be a hit from the Catsup boss. Thereafter the head of the Catsup family cornered the police and manufacturing unions in Chicago, and then they moved east and west. Boston, Philadelphia, New York, and then San Fransisco. They used a combination of Irish and Italian mafia tactics.
By 1907 the Catsup family had infiltrated politics, and funded the election of Taft in 1908. Thereafter, big ketchup was part of the core American Machinery.

I would never use Kali for service provision. Kali uses Debian packaging system. So you can build out what you need. Kali has a lot of great tools already installed, and has a fantastic standalone and USB mode.
If you want pure security, go with Tails, from USB

I love the power to control the actual machine you get from Linux, especially when you can recompile the kernel to do what you want. Unfortantly it does not have the smoothness from a UI and operating perspective, which has made it very slow adoption mainstream.
I use Kali or Gentoo.

I agree Lemming. I think thett brings up a point about the South African infrastructure. I would add however that the principal of a global pandemic, as described by the WHO and the fear that we perpetrated globally, should somewhat level the playing field.
Countries were locked down, their already weak economies crippled, and the west brag about the efficacy of a vaccine. The developing nations respond "well if it is so good, can we have some and you help us out". And the west says. "sorry we are sold out. Good luck though!!"

- Please explain how Dr Hotez is "censoring the science"
Science is the art of discovery through investigation, experimentation and discourse. Dr. Hotez has put himself in the centre of the limelight as a fact authority with respect to COVID and Vaccines.
On his interview with Joe Rogan, when Joe asked a question, He said "don't know". times on serious questions. FANTASTIC!! Then lets be open and discuss and share our thoughts and knowledge
- At 8:02. Joe asks about ibuprofin, Hotez says I don't know and responds with an aspirin answer
- At 15:06 Joe asks about vaping, and the answer is we don't know
- At 29:29 Joe asks why people tet negative then positive, and the answer was "I don't know"
- at 39:47 Hotez says we don't know what is going to happen in rural areas and emphasizes social distancing, for which there is no scientific basis for the 6 foot rule, and the CDC admit social distancing was pure guess work.
In March 2020, Hotez describes the "unique potential safety problem of coronavirus vaccines", and a year later says "they are safe and highly effective"
In July 2021 Hotez says they had been working on coronavirus vaccines 10 years ago. and the vaccines have gone through as rigorous a process as any vaccine that we’ve ever released to the public.” Complete lies.
In March of 2023 Hotez says that there was so much emphasis on speed and innovation, and the focus was on new shiny toys
Anything counter to what Hotez says, which changes like the weather, is right wing, disinformation. He wont talk about anything he disagress with or not part of his agenda. That is censorship.

Sourcing the CDC?
Lets look at how the CDC qualifies their information. Oh they guessed at the 6 foot gap.. no science. They said vaccinated dont get the virus or spread it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agJRcvq6sk0&t=18s. Peter Hotez said the same thing. All lies.
I give a deposition of an expert in clinical trials, and I am told that I am the idiot for believing. I never said I believed. I said that info should give pause.
If someone wants to use wikipedia as a source, without recognizing bias, there is a problem.
Why can't we have independent thought, rather than pandering to virtue signalling.
Greyparrot, I bet we disagree about a lot of stuff. I am pretty sure you and I would have a very productive debate about it. Because I am willing to learn, and change my mind. Others here are not.

My friend, this is the issue: (emphasis added
- Between RFK Jr and the NIH? I think RFK's main complaints can be summed up as
Perhaps to your previous point, we could let RFK Jr. actually put his questions out, rather than surmise. Have you read RFK Jr's book the Real Anthony Fauci? Hav e you cross referenced the sources in his book? I have, and he brings up some very valid questions that do need answering. Vaccines an autism... some serious questions. Check out this three minute deposition with an "expert".
Secondly you state
I do think scientific consensus considers all of these questions generally unworthy of further expenditures of resources.
Define scientific consensus. Since when is consensus science? How did that work out for earth being the centre of the universe. For the fact that there could not be living organisms at the bottom of the sea, the development of understanding quantum mechanics.
Correct me if I am misquoting you, as I am not trying to do that. It appears you are saying that when there is a critical mass (an undefined one) that then renders any other conversation or opinion not worthy of exploration. For clarity, I am not trying to be combative and trying to define things properly. Thank you for your engagement in this conversation, and for the respect you show.

The article makes an interesting point
Rather than staging a debate, it is better to ask MMT advocates to outline their claims more formally — and then to push those claims through peer review. Then we can see what the evidence indicates.
However it then says
Most scientists consider the major questions settled
What major questions are settled? The author is literally assuming that there is nothing to debate, and therefore not worthy of a conversation. That is contrary to the first point. Bring the issues out.
The principal of science is discourse. It is inspection and discussion. It is looking at all sides and all issues. Despite what Neil DeGrasse Tyson, science is not consensus. Science is discovery, discourse, asking questions and continuously trying to prove your earlier theories wrong. That is science.

When your net worth is this big, 1.5 million is a token's worth. Peter probably doesn't need a handout from some moron.
It is not from "some moron". Many people pooled together. And this is not a gift to Peter, it is for a charity of his choice. So all he has to do is defend his position, and his charity gets $1.5M.

I agree with you Greyparrot. It is so amazing how we are sucked into the propaganda machine. Many do not have the power to stop and ask. "Is this the full story?"
I am particularly appalled at the fact that both parties are now indistinguishable as war mongers. Putin asked the Security Council to intervene and run the elections in Donbas, and they refused. Hundreds of thousands of lives are being used as pro west pawns. To your point, the West want to see a decimated Ukraine so they can financially cripple it, and control the fertile land, the carbon resources, and the Black sea.
It makes me absolutely sick. Every single peace agreement, the two Minsk agreements, the Turkish agreement, the Paris agreement... all ignored by the west.
Putin, Zelensky, Johnson, von der lLeyan, Biden, Obama, Bush, Trudeau, Macron.... they are all the fucking same. War mongers.

Your freedom to have porn on internet harms children.
You did not say ban porn from the internet. You said ban it outright
You did not say, make sure all porn is behind a paywall or age-gate, you said ban it.
You appear to say there is a moral issue with the entire concept of porn, and now you are saying it is an ease of access problem. Which is it? With respect my friend, you are hopping around a bit here.
Is it the industry?
Is it the access?
Does the logic you use for porn apply to other issues in the same way?
It appears to me that you are anti-porn and focusing on the children access issue, when in fact you have a deeper moral issue that is hard to argue requires outlawing.
Created:
Posted in:
-->
@Best.Korea
So this is about the objective view of porn, being only used for pleasure.
"People should never have freedom to hurt others only for pleasure".
While the above sentence makes perfect sense, I do not think that is what you are saying through your arguments.
What it appears that you are saying is:
"People should not gain pleasure from anything that in its creation, and distribution, may cause, or has caused harm to someone else"
Someone watching porn is not trying to, or in actuality directly harming another. While the consumption of porn creates a market demand, and thereby may contribute to human trafficking, there are a number of legitimate producers and studios who are regulated and do not engage in that conduct.
My issue with your stance is not about a moral compass, it is about the tangental reach of cause and effect.
Created:

@Best.Korea
The concern I have is the overall logic that you are using, and Oro was applying that logic to other areas.
We can agree that access to Porn for children is not good for them. We also agree that a childs access to many other things, such as guns, chemicals, alcohol, driugs etc etc. is not good for them.
So what is the process you can use that justifies a ban on one item, and not a ban on the others. How do you reconcile that?

Thanks for the clarification.
Not hugely different to any other Lab based process of organic replication
I would argue it is very different. Cellular growth and division is based on a multitude of systemic functions, including hormones, diet, environment. All we are doing in this lab meat is tricking the cells to do something, rather than letting them do what they would normally do.
It is the naivety that we think we can short cut, and bring complex lives down to a single process which scares me. It is the same thing that occurs with ultra-processed foods on the one hand, and gain of function research on the other.
Its what we ignore and don't know, or refuse to know about it that scares me.
Created:
Posted in:
-->
@zedvictor4
Not much different to the original process.
I beg to differ.
What scares me is the over confidence we have with technology. The assumptions, and the naivety. Having a few veggies and a chicken i now coming down to artificial meat. Reminds me of the movie Soylent Green.
I do not eat very many processed foods as it is. Potato chips is my food vice. No bread, no wheat, only veg and meat. So perhaps I am a nut job and hyper sensitive to this.

The vaccines did cause a less virulent form of COVID from being transferred.
An absolute complete and utter falsity.
That’s a lie. Twitter never banned someone for saying COVID originated from a lab leak.
Let me rephrase this. As part of Twitters COVID's misinformation policy, lableak theory was included.
You completely missed the point. The attribution of fact vs misinformation has clear problemsI. On a side note have asked you repeatedly to not insult. Yet you continue to do so. I will not be engaging with you anymore, absent an apology,
Created:

@IwantRooseveltagain
When something is not clearly objective, sure we have a fact. 1+1 = 2. Ok Fact. Lets look at what was labelled as truth or misinformation, just around COVID, that we now know is either false, or a legitimate part of an unresolved debate.
Vaccines stopped Covid transmission — wrong. If you said they didn't stop transmission, that was labelled misinformation. We know the vaccines do not reduce the spread.
COVID origins, if you said it was a lableak, that got your struck from Twitter, Youtube, META. We now know that patient zero WUHAN lab, and we know that the genetics of the virus have no traceable natural origin. So another example of the truth being labelled misinformation.
Two examples of "facts" that were absolutely wrong, and any discussion about their accuracy was banned.
