Counter claim motherfucker. I’m Damien Darkblood, JOAT investigator. As I mentioned near the start, my role doesn’t stem from super powers but rather what the character actually does.

Ouch! I can’t remember what function they have, but ouch! Also, JoeBob and Best were very likely to have visitors last night.Why do you say that?
Best was literally saying he’d visit JoeBob; and those two are of high value to town (at least if BK is telling the truth).

His behavior. In include preferring his own head on the chopping block to mine.
We’re in DP1 so what actions has he done which make you think he’s “definitely scum”?

I’m convinced Austin is town at this point. Scum have a bigger duty to each other to not be lynched. And lynching him today gains less than it costs us.

Whiteflame ??? Softclaim (protagonist… I can’t find the post)
From the above list I should want to push Vader, but last game as scum it was really annoying having an unknown variable; and there’s a 71.4 chance he’s town, plus he’s playing well.
I dislike that anyone is using the logic main character = town. Last game I was Percy Jackson, and I was scum.
that said, regarding Pie: Invincible is mainly defined by his speed (well, that and getting his ass kicked a lot), so the claim seems solid.
GP’s claim had some obvious flaws considering my powers, but we’ve learned the hard way that similar powers don’t equal contradiction.
Savant I dislike some of his behavior, but he says his role will be confirmed (not the same as alignment, but it helps), and we have time to wait.
WF is leading town. If he’s scum we’ve already lost.
Austin is an odd one to be sure. He’s rather be lynched than me be lynched, which since I know I’m town favors town; but pushing so hard on BK…
BK…says his behavior is all a tactic to not get night killed even while claiming doctor, but it’s still utter shit.
He’s even arguing we shouldn’t think at all and just murder someone quickly before they can respond (complete bastard move; people should have a chance to defend themselves per the spirit of the game).

@Vader
inconsistency with his role justification being from the characters personality and not power
Not to straw-man, but that logic is flawed when you consider JoeBob’s claim of Oliver…
A Viltrimite/insect hybrid who ages and learns super fast, with a truly perfect memory such that he fondly remembers Omni-Man from listening in the womb… Being an innocent child has nothing to do with his powers.
You can also scroll over the character list for the squishy humans who don’t have powers at all.

This BK post feels really inorganic to me. How common have janitors been in past BK games to make him especially worried about them?
My gut says that Austin and BK are the scum team. Austin pushes the BK lynch after the doctor claim, which he knows won’t go through. If BK then fails to doctor then flips scum, Austin gets town cred for having been after him since day 1.

I don’t think you should claim anything at this point, but behaviorally there’s an oddity there.

We should be down to ~23 hours.
I stand by my earlier idea of letting the fully confirmed townie lead the charge. If he rolls the dice, there’s a 25% chance he catches scum. An educated guess will hopefully be better odds than that; but it’s a wagon at least initiated with the assurance of no bad motives behind it (any wagon started by someone else, as a 25% chance of being lead by scum)

Clearing the field minimizes pressure from players who might be scum, and makes whatever lynch have been initiated by a confirmed townie.
Whereas any wagon not formed by a confirmed townie, is more likely to be lead by scum.
Scum have the job of getting townies to lynch the wrong people. I’ve proposed a way which decreases the odds of them succeeding in that.
Created:
Posted in:

@JoeBob
Vigilantes should always shoot the first night, because they statically have better odds of hitting scum than a lynch.
I’d like to apply this same thing to you. Pick someone for us to lynch. They can try to talk their way out of it, but others should not. And ultimately, we should only hammer a wagon started by you.
(Everyone else should probably unvote to clear the field).

Scum could just do whatever they would do if they were town, and suddenly behavioral reads are useless.
Hypothetically yes, but that rarely works in reality. There’s always a difference caused by our goals.
Vader used to do huge gambits, and pull the Chewbacca Defense to get out of trouble (then NK whoever was onto him, and everyone would forget. He’s since evolved.
I used to work way too hard when scum. I too have evolved.

Ok trains
Barney was Pie for no reason at all, then Savant to pressure for information (without Raghu t me… anti town as hell, but a common bit of bad logic). Savant then tried to get others to gang pile, to pressure without letting the pressured person know… again, so common it’s not a scum slip, but it is a face palm moment. Whiteflame joined it, same error in logic. Pie catches that I did not read all of the OP, which somehow equals town (I’m good enough as scum, that I don’t have my buddies fill me in on everything; I assume others are as well), but does not unvote.
Pie… WTF, people pulling the same basted not tagging whiling pretending to try to pressure said individual. Hence, anti-town action, bastard to be sure, but not a real scum slip. Austin spoke up with some good reasoning.
Not reading Austin as pure scum. He’s doing pro-town behavior, or at least non-bastartdly behavior.

Easy to misread, but especially early in the game a better tactic than anything I can pull off. I wait for contradictions (I make no claims of being a great player).

@Vader
Without character or role claiming, does your characters role relate to their "superpower" or ability rather than what happened in the show?
Good question!
My character doesn’t follow his super power for his role. The role fits the character, but it’s based on his actions rather than technical power.
Like let’s say I was Rex, the power wouldn’t just be mad bomber or vigilante to fit the power of making stuff explode as an attack, it’d instead be something like Lover for his habit of cheating on Atom-Eve with Dupli-Kate (whom I believe someone claimed, so to be clear, no connection).

I’m case I’m hammered while I finish getting hammered with friends (it’s a god damned Friday night people)…
Pie is generally anti-town, but shit and being scum are not the same thing. Hence I’m no OMGYSing him.
Austin however is in my scum pile. It’s instinctive. He’s trying to tell a story which the facts do not align with, while not joining in the insane lynch (which scum players know is insane). It’s pushing for a mislynch, while building defense; and not being on the wagon itself. Could just be bad logic, but favorable odds that he’s scum. … of course this could change when I get caught up on reading tomorrow. Hence, no VTL from me. And if anyone has acted like he has but without tagging me, I’m cool with lynching them on principle (lynch all bastards).

Haven’t gotten caught up, but it looks like you’re leading the wagon on me… please explain your deep thought process for DEMANDING information from someone who is not logged in, but not tagging them to let them know about it when they log back on?
Free kill on a townie who you know is frequently busy in real life, or anything actually useful to town?

I remain fine with pushing Barney, though to avoid any possibility of someone hammering, Unvote.Consider my vote on you regardless.
What am I being pushed on? You cannot pressure me for information, without ever stating what you’d like to know (which no one has).

I think Barney has been lurky enough that I'm fine getting a claim from him, I guess.
You’re a better player than this. Someone not logging in (I was traveling today) isn’t the same as being lurky.
Created:

@JoeBob
If you don’t get on in the next hour I’m voting you as well.
You are the first person to tag me to pressure me, yet I see from above people pretending to try to pressure me without letting me know about it to actually pressure me…
They are obviously being intentionally anti-town.
As for threatening if I don’t login within a certain time window… for me to know about said time window, I’d need a scum buddy to tell me… Please tell me you see the flaw in your logic?

I like that you're thinking outside the box. I personally set my discord to invisible for mafia games (well, try to at least), to decrease risk of this type of thing (intentional or not).
Aside from that, WF pretty much summed up my thoughts. If we can win by a bastardly method, it's better to lose and maintain our dignity and the spirit of the game.

In criminal trials there must be guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. If a lawyer is able to confuse the jury, they must acquit (or be a hung jury, but they get talked out of that) https://youtu.be/aV6NoNkDGsU?si=xvhqFMcNNBq6s0tA
In civil trials a preponderance of the evidence is enough to prove guilt.
Charging someone money is less severe than putting them on death row (as was an option in this case).
Created:
Posted in:

@Mall
Wait a minute, so Mr. Simpson was found guilty of murder and the penalty was a fine?
More or less.
A civil trial has a somewhat lower burden of proof, but is limited to monetary compensation for damages.
Created:
Posted in:
-->
@Mall
Even that was too weak so he was found not guilty.
The civil trial did conclude that he killed them, and ordered him to pay $25 million in punitive damages (of which they collected this far <$125 thousand). He lost any appeals, and due to interest his estate owes them over 100 million (but it'll probably dodge paying anything).
