As of January 2017, the global participation rate of women in national-level parliaments is 23.3%

While you may find an outlier like Rwanda that has a parliament with more than 50% women, it is only because most of the men were slaughtered in the Rwanda genocide, and new babies haven't replaced the lost generation.

When women make up 50% of the voters, the only plausible reason for the lack of women can only be a disinterest of women voting for women, assuming there is no voter intimidation. (we saw this with Hillary)... So why are most parliaments in liberal and free nations still around 30% women participation?

It's the same reason why there are more men in jail than women.

I don't know if any of you guys have 12 minutes to spare, but this speech is one of the best I heard all year explaining why our government sucks, and is steadily getting worse.

So the NY Times popped a hit piece on Trump recently.

The gist of the op ed was that someone in DC anonymously admitted to subverting the will of the president.

So here is the big problem.

Scenario 1:
The anonymous person is a person in DC.

Therefore: The deep state exists.

Scenario :
The anonymous person is not a person in DC.

Therefore: The fake news exists.

Either of the 2 possible scenarios is a win for Trump's base.

McCain would be proud that a person that was deliberately not invited to his funeral appeared anyway in the words of about everyone that spoke at the funeral. RIP.

If you believe the concept of separate human races exist you are racist. If you believe races exist on the basis of color, you are racist.

If you believe races exist, but there are no differences at all between races, then you actually do not believe in the concept of separate races, congratulations, you are not a racist.

If you are a race denier, you cannot be a racist.

One day all people will embrace science and realize there are no multiple races of humans. Colorism on the other hand, will be much harder to eradicate from society. Debunking the multiple race theory is a start.

Being colorblind not only makes you not a racist, but also not a colorist, which is the highest moral position to strive for in society.

I don't know if this should go in the science forum, but whatever.

Whenever the brain doesn't understand something, it produces chemicals to provide discomfort, much in the way your limbs feel pain if there is something wrong with them. Evolution has given humans this adaptation so that they can be more aware of the actual world they live in. For example, if a caveman doesn't see a panther but he can hear a panther, he immediately discards the first idea that he is safe just because he can't see the threat. The chemicals in his brain force him to resolve that conflict in the perception of the real world.

When a person feels pain, there are 2 choices. Address the reason for the pain, or just take medicine to dull the pain.

When a person feels uncertainty about the world they also have 2 choices. Address the logical fallacies or escape in a delusion of a God fantasy.
God is the chemical that keeps the brain happy and sedated.

If you listen to commencement speakers without falling asleep, you will often here the same phrase "make a difference"

This has to be one of the worst bits of advice well-meaning commencement speakers habitually offer to the youth of America. This hackneyed mantra assumes that everything needs to be changed, when that's clearly a very bad idea if some things are working just fine, or have a low priority for change. Likewise, this advice assumes that all differences made are good changes. This is an extremely naive assertion. Making changes just to make changes without any rational thought is something a monkey can do, not what we expect out of college graduates. Change solely for change's sake can easily lead to the collapse of everything we value in society.

In a nutshell "hope and change" is terrible advice to give to graduates. A monkey can do this without prompting.

"Evaluate and improve the world" would be far, far better advice. This is what we should expect from a rational, critically-thinking responsible citizen.

When you are raised as a coddled snowflake, and a pinprick feels like a gunshot wound, then a funny looking man saying mean things will surely look like Hitler to you.
