This alternative reality has no basis in fact and is made possible by a failure to exercise critical thinking skills
and the inability to determine credible sources of information as well as the desire to hear only what they already believe.

At an 1855 “American convention” held in Philadelphia, the American Party adopted a platform that would have sweepingly denied political and civil rights to immigrants. Speaking during a downpour, a nativist politician from New York told the crowd, to cheers: “American as I am, I decidedly prefer this rain to the reign of Roman Catholicism in this country … I, as an American citizen, prefer this rain or any other rain to the reign of foreignism … I go for America first, last and always.”

The phrase “ America First”was invoked during the first Red Scare to defend against Bolshevism and on the floor of Congress to pass the raft of laws that imposed racial and ethnic quotas on immigration in the early decades of the 20th century, not to be lifted until the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965. And it was a favorite slogan of the resurgent Ku Klux Klan, which in the 1920s was a nativist, anti-immigrant, anti-Catholic, antisemitic, antilabor and red-baiting fraternity as well as a white-supremacist one. The point for all these groups was always the same: to defend “real America” against the threats posed by anyone they deemed less than a real American

Even though the Republicans try to punish blue states whenever they can (2017 Tax Act SALT Cap) Democrats passed legislation that will help Ohio and other Republican leaning states. The Chips Act was pushed through by Democrats and signed by Biden bringing billions of dollars in subsidies to build factories in Red states.

“The federal subsidies, part of the Chips Act signed into law last month, are sparking a wave of chip investment. Micron is holding its own groundbreaking ceremony on Monday for a $15 billion chip factory near its headquarters in Boise, Idaho. Chip maker Wolfspeed on Friday announced plans to build a new manufacturing facility in Chatham County, North Carolina” Taiwan’s TSMC, the world’s largest chip maker, has said it will seek subsidies for a $12 billion factory that it has begun building in Phoenix and is aiming to finish late next year” And a partnership between SkyWater Technology and Purdue University will apply for a federal subsidy to build a new $1.8 billion factory and research facility next to the university in West Lafayette, Ind” Nearby states are hoping to benefit from the cluster of suppliers that industry experts say is bound to develop around the Ohio site. Giant chip factories need chemicals, blank silicon wafers to etch, and equipment and service providers.
“Microelectronics occurs in clusters. We believe Indiana and Ohio are a cluster,” Indiana’s Secretary of Commerce Brad Chambers said in an interview this week. “That Silicon Heartland concept I think is real.”

ALL RED STATES. ALL BENEFITING FROM LEGISLATION PASSED BY BIDEN

Does this make Democrats suckers? Are Red state Americans too dumb to know who helped them?

A “Russia hoax” lawsuit by Trump is dismissed by a judge with the derision it deserved.

“At its core, the problem with Plaintiff’s Amended Complaint is that Plaintiff is not attempting to seek redress for any legal harm … instead, he is seeking to flaunt a two-hundred-page political manifesto outlining his grievances against those that have opposed him, and this Court is not the appropriate forum,” he wrote”

Imagine belonging to a right wing militia group that is led by a guy who is so incompetent he shot himself in the eye.

That’s right, Stewart Rhodes, the eye patch wearing leader of the Oath Keepers who is about to go on trial for sedition and numerous other charges, shot his own eye out when he dropped his pistol and the gun went off. What a loser. A loser who attracts other losers. Rhodes and the Oath Keepers supported Donald Trump during his presidency of course.

Oh and the cherry on top - his real name is Elmer, as in Elmer Fudd.

These red states just can’t control crime. 4 more shot and killed in this conservative city awash in guns. So sad.

But this is just an anecdote.

A body found Monday has been identified as that of a kindergarten teacher who was abducted during an early-morning jog last week in Memphis, authorities announced Tuesday.

First the  Uvalde, Texas mass shooting at a school and the incompetent response by law enforcement. Now this. These Republican led cities and states are just havens for violent crime. So poorly managed.

“Jackson, MS, already located in one of the poorest states in the U.S., has seen its tax base dwindle and is far short of the revenues leaders say are necessary to fix outdated water infrastructure in mostly black neighborhoods. While the bipartisan infrastructure bill passed last November includes $459 million for water improvements throughout the state, Mayor Lumumba (D)  has said the city would need at least $2 billion to fix its water infrastructure.”
— The Hill

Governor Tate Reeves (R) was on TV today saying the state needs support from the federal government to fix their sewer and water systems.

Note - Mississippi already gets way more money back from the US treasury than it sends. Why should we tax blue state residents with their high incomes only to give it to poor red states. This is Socialism! If Republicans want drinking water in Mississippi then raise the state and local taxes to pay for it.

Ukrainian immigrant linked to organized crime conned her way into Trump's inner circle!

A Russian-speaking Ukrainian immigrant and fraudster linked to organized crime posed as a Rothschild to gain close access to Donald Trump's inner circle, even posing for a picture at Mar-a-Lago with the former president, according to an investigation.

Headline:  Payment disputes and a dwindling audience have fueled doubts about the former president’s Twitter clone

For a guy who likes to talk about the “failing NY Times” (which has growing revenue) he sure isn’t having much success with his own media company.

Looks like there will be yet another Trump bankruptcy!

The company has seen its stock price plunge nearly 75 percent since its March peak and reported in a filing last week that it had lost $6.5 million in the first half of the year. There are signs that the company’s financial base has begun to erode. The Trump company stopped paying RightForge, a conservative web-hosting service, in March and now owes it more than $1 million, according to Fox Business, which first reported the dispute.

I know facts have never been Trump’s strong suit, but it’s very ironic that the guy who was elected on a platform that Hilary should be locked up for mishandling classified material has so blatantly mishandled highly classified material in the form of hundreds of documents. But his sycophants don’t seem to mind - racists don’t care if their racist candidate is a hypocrite.

They chose a draft dodging liar over democracy.

Liz Cheney was consumed by the monster she and her father helped to create - ignorance. They played to the ignorant masses and they were attacked by the ignorant masses. Dick Cheney lied about WMDs in Iraq and Liz Cheney supported Donald Trump initially. Now they both have been left at the side of the road, beaten and bloodied, and no one will stop to help them.

Let’s see if we can make a list. It’s a long list.

Dinesh D’Souza - Plead guilty to making illegal campaign contributions. He returned the favor to Trump with the pro-election conspiracy movie 2000 mules.

General Michael Flynn - After Trump couldn’t get FBI Director James Comey to “let it go” and pledge “loyalty” Flynn plead guilty to lying to the FBI about his conversations with Russians. Before his sentencing hearing, Trump pardoned Flynn.

Steve Bannon - In August 2020, Bannon and three others were arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud and money laundering in connection to the We Build the Wall campaign. The defendants allegedly enriched themselves, despite promising that all contributions would go to building a wall. Bannon pleaded not guilty and was pardoned by Trump before his trial date. In 2022, Bannon was convicted of contempt of Congress and is awaiting sentence.

Paul Manafort - Tax fraud, obstruction of justice.

Roger Stone - Stone was convicted on all charges (lying to Congress and witness tampering),[207][208] but on July 10, 2020, his federal prison sentence was commuted by President Trump.[209] Asked for a comment after Bannon himself was arrested on August 20, 2020, Stone replied “Karma is a bitch…

Sheriff Joe Arpio - After a judge held Arpio in contempt of court Trump pardoned him.

Scooter Libby - Obstruction of Justice, lying to the FBI, perjury.

Congressman Duncan Hunter - conspiracy to commit offenses, campaign finance laws.

Charles Kushner - His son-in-law’s father who was prosecuted by Chris Christie. Fraud and perjury.

Texas crude is down to $89 a barrel and gas prices are dropping fast. Of course if Biden made gas go up, he now deserves the credit for making it go down.

Oh what will Republicans do if their prayers for runaway inflation go unanswered?

Why has Trump either refused to testify under oath like he did in the Russian collusion investigation or plead the 5th as he did in New York a couple days ago. Is it because he is guilty of the crimes he is being investigated for or because his lawyers are afraid he will lie under oath, which is a crime.

Los Angeles and San Francisco have been catastrophic,” DeSantis said.
[Andrew Warren: DeSantis sacked me for doing my job as a prosecutor. Who’s next?]

But the data tells another story. By my calculation, the homicide rate in San Francisco in 2020 (the last year for which comparable data are available) was 5.5 per 100,000 people. The rate for the state of Florida that year was 7.8, according to the CDC, a remarkable comparison given that crime in cities tends to be higher than crime in states as a whole. The 2020 homicide rate in Los Angeles was, by my calculation, higher at 8.9 per 100,000 people, but that’s still significantly lower than the murder rates in nearly every large locality in Florida, including Miami-Dade County (10.7) and Jacksonville (15.5), and the capital, Tallahassee (14.5).

Trump signed a bill into law changing the punishment for mishandling classified information from 1 year to 5 years in prison.

He then mishandled classified material, removing materials from their proper place and taking them to his private home at Mar-a-Lago.

Now his home has been raided after an informant told the government that Trump had classified material in his possession.

The National archives and Records Administration had already retrieved 15 boxes of material from Trump’s home.

The Second Amendment reads as follows: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

From these words it should be clear that the original intent of the Second Amendment was to ensure that no State passed a law to prohibit the people from owning guns, because that would impede the ability of states to form and maintain militias for the purpose of defending the new country that the Constitution was creating. Because the United States didn’t have, and didn’t want at the time, a standing army (or navy) , militias - that is, well regulated militias, were needed to provide a defense against attack, invasion, and civil unrest. You’ll recall that President George Washington requested and led the militias sent by several states to put down the Whiskey Rebellion in western Pennsylvania.

The 2A was never about an individual right to own firearms for self defense or to defend against a tyrannical federal government. That idea was created out of thin air by the Supreme Court in the 2008 DC v. Heller decision. This decision was very ironic coming from the strict constructionist and textualist wing of the court.

The 2A as written is firmly obsolete, much like the third amendment prohibiting the quartering of troops in peoples’ houses. The reason of course is that we don’t have well regulated militias anymore. We have standing armies (and a Navy and Air Force) that makes militias a thing of the past. To make matters worse, guns have become a scourge in America with their numbers exceeding the number of citizens, and were used in the death of nearly 50,000 Americans annually. That is according to the most recent data from the Center for Disease Control, which tracks the number of gun related deaths including suicides, which accounts for approximately half of all gun deaths in the country.

Perhaps even worse than the number of gun deaths in this country is the fact that guns are the leading cause of death for children in this country. More than car accidents, or drownings, illness or disease. That is a pretty high price to pay for a right that fundamentally doesn’t exist or offer much of a benefit to society. The ownership of weapons of war makes no sense even in the context of the recently invented right to self defense from the Heller decision. Nobody needs an assault weapon with a 30 round magazine to defend themselves or their homes. But the proliferation of these kinds of firearms has resulted in mass shootings becoming a common event in the United States in this century and resulting in the deaths of hundreds of people each year in completely random acts of violence.

The 2A needs to be amended, spelling out exactly what should be allowed and for what purpose.
