So all you guys who said Trump is irrelevant and in the past, now what do you say?

During the Trump administration, Trump advisor Jason Miller knocked up a Trump campaign senior advisor named A J Delgado. Yes, Miller is married but hypocrisy is the key trait of any MAGA politician.  Anyway, because it was so embarrassing for Miller to be in the same room as a pregnant Delgado, Miller and Trump told her to lose the baby or she would be fired. Miller even tried to induce an abortion by putting a drug in her drink when they were still together. Delgado ended up having the baby and she was fired long before she went into labor. Yeah Republicans!

If you answered Biden or Democrats you are an idiot.

We all know or should know that inflation is fundamentally caused by an imbalance between supply and demand. With increasing wages, low unemployment and an economy rebounding from the Covid-19 shutdowns we have higher demand. With supply disruptions, worker shortages, the War in Ukraine and an effort to punish Russia with sanctions, global and regional supply is constrained.

So how do we bring supply and demand back into balance? This is not a question any Republicans have made an attempt to answer.

How to lower demand?

We could trigger a recession and job losses that will curb demand. We can increase borrowing costs to consumers to curb demand but that might restrict supply by making it more expensive to buy new equipment to increase productivity.
We could curb demand by cutting the wages of those who have jobs and we could raise taxes leaving less money in peoples pockets to buy with.

We all remember the last time we had this high of inflation in 1982 under Reagan. Paul Volker, the Fed Chair pushed up the prime rate to 20% to knock down demand. The result was 10% unemployment and a recession. Is that what people want today? I guess it depends if you are one of the people to lose your job.

How to increase productivity and supply?

We need more workers. We need immigrants.
We need corporations to do their jobs, not to try to make more money by producing less like the oil companies do. Capitalism is failing.
We need the war in Ukraine to end.
Farmers get a lot a money and support from the government. Is this money going in their pockets or helping to lower prices?
We haven’t built a new refinery in the United States since 1973. Maybe the government should buy and operate one or two to keep the oil companies honest. It would be run like a public utility.

In Brazil, when the tallies showed that the incumbent had been voted out after just one term, the government responded jointly, swiftly and decisively. The Senate President, the Attorney General, Supreme Court justices and the heads of the electoral agency went on television together and announced the winner. The House Speaker, perhaps the president’s most important ally, then read a statement reiterating that the voters had spoken. Other right-wing politicians quickly followed suit.
President Jair Bolsonaro, politically isolated, stayed silent for two days. Then, under pressure from his top advisers, he agreed to transfer power.

Thousands of Bolsanaro’s supporters took to the streets, blocking highways and demanding a military intervention, but the armed forces have shown no interest in disrupting the electoral process. The demonstrations quickly fizzled and the government began its transition.

Brazil, Brazil has a more stable democracy than the United States of America. Yeah Republicans

The voice in the now-infamous 30-second political ad, created by supporters of George H.W. Bush during his 1988 presidential campaign against Democrat Michael Dukakis, sounds ominous as it tries to paint Dukakis as weak on crime

Ironically, the policy in question had been created years earlier, in 1972, by Massachusetts Gov. Francis Sargent, a Republican. He had implemented a program that allowed prisoners weekend time away from prison in exchange for good behavior.

During a 1988 debate against Dukakis, Al Gore brought up the case of Horton, asking Dukakis about “weekend passes for convicted criminals.” Dukakis explained “the Massachusetts furlough program for murderers sentenced to life imprisonment had been canceled”.

The issue did not take for Gore, but the exchange attracted the interest of the research director for the Bush campaign. After Dukakis won the Democratic nomination, Lee Atwater, a young but shrewd Republican political strategist who ran Bush’s presidential campaign, jumped on the issue.

The Willie Horton ad and Atwater’s political strategy would become a a symbol of the dark side and half truths of Republican politics. In his obituary, when he died in 1990, at the age of 40, critics, wrote “his success in elevating a black murderer-rapist named Willie Horton into a national figure used to crush the presidential bid of Michael S. Dukakis was a crude appeal to racism and the epitome of the negative campaign.”

Months before Atwater died a young man, he expressed regret for using divisive political tactics. Atwater wrote in a Life Magazine story: “In 1988, fighting Dukakis, I said that I ‘would strip the bark off the little bastard’ and ‘make Willie Horton his running mate.’ I am sorry for both statements: the first for its naked cruelty, the second because it makes me sound like a racist, which I am not.”

Republican campaigns and lies have only gotten worse since the Willie Horton ad.

Of the more than 440 extremism-related murders committed in the past decade, more than 75 percent were committed by right-wing extremists, white supremacists or anti-government extremists. The remaining quarter stemmed from a range of other motivations, according to a study by the Anti-Defamation League. There were 29 extremist-related homicides last year: 26 committed by right-wing extremists, two by Black nationalists and one by an Islamic extremist. The Department of Homeland Security has warned again and again that domestic extremism motivated by white supremacist and other right-wing ideologies is the country’s top terrorism threat.

There have been attacks on conservatives, too, but the number and nature of the episodes aren’t comparable, and no leading figures in the Democratic Party condone, mock or encourage their supporters to violence in ways that are common from politicians on the right and their supporters in the conservative media.

“Campaign ads have always had a loose association with the nuances of governance. But as the midterm elections tighten into dozens of battlegrounds across the country, a number of GOP ads are showing a breathtaking disregard for accuracy and clarity, with Republican candidates and their allies twisting tangential elements into baseless or misleading claims.
Donald Trump’s candidacy and presidency erased many of the traditional campaign guardrails in the GOP as Republicans adopted his approach of pushing fact-free arguments.

Jason Reifler, a political science professor who taught in Georgia and Illinois before joining the faculty at the University of Exeter in Britain, said Trump introduced a whole new level of lying in politics”

The right-wing incumbent, who had remained out of view for 45 hours after the race was called Sunday night for Lula, spoke for less than two minutes Tuesday afternoon at the Alvorada Palace in Brasilia, thanking his voters and describing the blockading of highways throughout Brazil as rightful expression of “indignation and a sense of injustice.”
“The right has truly emerged in our country,” Bolsonaro said. “Our robust representation in Congress shows the strength of our values: God, country, family and freedom.”

He left it to his chief of staff, Ciro Nogueira, to say he had authorized a transition to Lula.
It amounted to a tacit acknowledgment of the loss while at the same time taking a page from his ally, former U.S. president Donald Trump, by suggesting, without evidence, that the vote was somehow tainted — a posture aimed at undermining Lula’s legitimacy and authority.
After months in which Bolsonaro and his supporters sowed unfounded doubts about the integrity of Brazil’s electoral system, his comments appeared to spur his supporters on. Since Sunday night, they have blocked highways with trucks and burning tires, causing shortages of gas and medicine in some Brazilian cities. As of Tuesday night, hundreds of Bolsonaro supporters were rallying, chanting and praying in front of the army’s headquarters in Brasilia.

None of course. But he will use that excuse to delay and obstruct the Georgia investigation for as long as he can.

A district court judge said prosecutors could not question Graham about portions of his calls that were legislative fact-finding. But the judge said Willis’s team could explore coordination with the Trump campaign in its post-election efforts in Georgia, public statements regarding the 2020 election and any efforts to “cajole” or “exhort” Georgia election officials. A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit agreed that those actions “could not qualify as legislative activities under any understanding of Supreme Court precedent.” Two of the judges were nominated by Trump.

At issue in Graham’s subpoena dispute are calls the senator made to Raffensperger and his staff in which prosecutors said the senator asked about “reexamining certain absentee ballots” in the state to “explore the possibility of a more favorable outcome” for Trump.

Adam Laxalt was born in Reno, Nevada, the son of Pete Domenici, a Republican U.S. Senator from New Mexico, and Michelle Laxalt. He is the grandson of former Republican Nevada Governor and U.S. Senator Paul Laxalt. Laxalt's mother raised him as a single parent. Laxalt's parents did not publicly acknowledge his paternity until 2013.[2][3] At that time, Domenici acknowledged that Laxalt was his son and was born as a result of an extramarital affair.[3]

Domenici was married and 22 years older than Michelle Laxalt when he got the 24 yo pregnant. The party of family values!!

The circumstances of Adam Laxalt’s birth are unique. His mother’s father, Paul Laxalt, founded a prominent law firm in Nevada before becoming our state’s governor. In 1974, he became a United States senator and moved to Washington, D.C. with his wife and daughter, Michelle. When she was 24, Michelle was impregnated in 1977 by a colleague of her father’s, Senator Pete Domenici. At that time, Senator Domenici was 46 years old, a staunch Catholic and the married father of eight children.

In a personal blog that DePape maintained, posts include such topics as “Manipulation of History,” “Holohoax” and “It’s OK to be white.” He mentioned 4chan, a favorite message board of the far right. He posted videos about conspiracies involving COVID-19 vaccines and the war in Ukraine being a ploy for Jewish people to buy land.

From the LA Times 10/28:

DePape’s screeds included posts about QAnon, an unfounded theory that former President Trump is at war with a cabal of Satan-worshipping elites who run a child sex ring and control the world. In an Aug. 23 entry titled “Q,” DePape wrote: “Either Q is Trump himself or Q is the deepstate moles within Trumps inner circle.”

DePape followed a number of conservative creators online, including Tim Pool, Glenn Beck, DailyWire+ and the Epoch Times. He also followed an account on YouTube called Black Pilled and reposted several of its videos on his blog. “Blackpilling” is internet slang for coming to believe supposedly unacceptable facts about society, and the reposted videos include accusations such as the FBI covering up child rape.

DePape posted videos to Facebook by MyPillow Chief Executive Mike Lindell saying that the 2020 presidential election was stolen, according to reports.

“Substitute “election denier” for “the South,” and you have a fair approximation of the current state of American politics. Now, one side believes its viewpoint is essential to maintaining its power and its conception of America. It insists its followers can be “seen” only if the rest of us agree with their delusions and conspiracies. Sorry, but in a democracy, there is no compromise with that mentality. Buying into the “big lie” and white nationalism means rejecting the premise of constitutional government based on the creed “All men are created equal.”

“The MAGA perspective explains the constant anger of a shrinking segment of Whites who, as George Mason University political scientist Ashley Jardina told the New York Times, feel “really threatened [so] are willing to reject democratic norms because they see it as a way to protect their status.” These Americans believe they’ve been deprived their “due” of elite status by a changing country”

Smart economic policy, - policies that help non-college whites in the heartland

well-selected candidates - not too liberal in states like Pennsylvania or Wisconsin

supercharged organizing  - register and turn out college students and blacks

could provide some hope of returning to the politics of reason and inclusion. But do not underestimate the difficulty of the undertaking.

“Since then, $5.8 million in taxpayer money has fueled a fruitless search for evidence of a hoax or witch hunt that did not exist. Two indictments, both flimsy, have ended in not-guilty verdicts. What has emerged more or less matches what Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz already revealed in his own 2019 report: There remains no reason to believe that the FBI’s 2016 probe was improperly predicated”

“The evidence stubbornly shows that the FBI’s inquiry wasn’t politically motivated, even after Mr. Durham spent so much money and so many months trying to show otherwise”.

Reagan - Deregulation leads to the S&L crisis. Largest bailout to date at the time. A recession that resulted in over 10% unemployment. Record deficits, he triples the National Debt by cutting taxes for the rich.

HW Bush -  A big recession and NAFTA is created which cost millions of American jobs in the coming years.

GW Bush - Deregulation and a lack of new regulation leads to the Great Bush recession and the largest bailout in history. We get over 10% unemployment again. He doubles the National debt from 5.5 to 11 trillion.

Trump - A trillion dollar deficit due to tax cuts for the rich is followed by a poor response to Covid and 16% unemployment. Another massive and even bigger bailout leads to a fiscal year with a 2 trillion dollar deficit. A record 8 trillion will be added to the debt in just his 4 years.

In 1933, the German Reichstag burned to the ground. Hitler claimed the communists were to blame. Within 24 hours, basic German rights, including privacy, freedom of speech, and freedom of the press, were suspended. More than 100,000 Germans were arrested and put in concentration camps.
Hitler was ostensibly a dictator just 52 days after being appointed Chancellor. Just a few days later, the Jews got the same treatment as the communists. First a boycott of all Jewish businesses by the German people. Then the businesses were destroyed.
Beginning in 1934, 400,000 Germans would be forcibly sterilized for “undesirable” qualities.

The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to reinstate Judge Aileen M. Cannon’s order that a special master review classified documents taken in an FBI search of Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump’s Florida home and private club.

There were no noted dissents to the court’s unsigned, one-sentence order. It amounted to a quick and sharp rejection of an emergency request by the former president to intervene in the high-profile document review, which is part of an ongoing criminal investigation of the potential mishandling of classified material after Trump left the White House.

But idiot Republicans will still believe the “Deep State” is trying to frame Trump. Even though Trump appointed 3 of the 9 justices on the mostly conservative court.

Trump’s campaign continued to raise money for an “Election Defense Fund” that did not exist. Maggie Haberman of The NY Times just wrote a book about Donald Trump - Confidence Man. It has some surprising revelations.

“Trump’s chief mentor, and a consigliere to most of the big shots named above, was the legendary underworld and overworld fixer Roy Cohn. The pampered son of a kingpin in Bronx Democratic politics, long notorious for his McCarthyite Red Scare grandstanding, Cohn, as Haberman details, connected Trump with Roger Stone as well as with organized crime while giving him master classes in high-stakes con-man strategy and tactics. Whenever Trump today intimidates the press with threats of retaliation, whenever he defends his aggressions by claiming to be the victim, whenever he calls his accusers (especially if they represent the federal government) life-destroying, treasonous “scum,” he is channeling his mentor, Cohn”

Although Cohn always denied his homosexuality in public, he had a few known boyfriends over the course of his life, including his assistant Russell Eldridge, who died from AIDS in 1984, and Peter Fraser, Cohn's partner for the last two years of his life, who was 30 years his junior.[84][85]
Speculation about Cohn's sexuality intensified following his death from AIDS in 1986.[8] In a 2008 article published in The New YorkerJeffrey Toobin quotes erstwhile Cohn associate Roger Stone: "Roy was not gay. He was a man who liked having sex with men. Gays were weak, effeminate. He always seemed to have these young blond boys around. It just wasn't discussed. He was interested in power and access."[86]

In 1986, Cohn was disbarred by the Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court for unethical conduct after attempting to defraud a dying client by forcing the client to sign a will amendment leaving him his fortune.[6] He died five weeks later from AIDS-related complications,[7] having vehemently denied that he was suffering from HIV.

A majority of Republican nominees on the ballot this November for the House, Senate and key statewide offices — 299 in all — have denied or questioned the outcome of the last presidential election, according to a Washington Post analysis.

Many of these candidates echo the false claims of former president Donald Trump — claims that have been thoroughly investigated and dismissed by myriad officials and courts. Experts said the insistence on such claims, despite the lack of evidence, reflects a willingness among election-denying candidates to undermine democratic institutions when it benefits their side…Far from repudiating candidates who embrace Trump’s false fraud claims, GOP primary voters have empowered them.

“I don’t believe we’ll ever have a fair election again,” Trump told the crowd. “I don’t believe it.”

After hurricane Sandy hit New Jersey in 2012, Ron DeSantis, a newly sworn-in congressman, was one of 67 House Republicans who voted against the relief bill. DeSantis said he sympathized with victims and that those with flood insurance should have their claims paid. But he said that “allowing the FEMA program to increase its debt by another $9.7 billion with no plan to offset the spending with cuts elsewhere is not fiscally responsible.”

I suggest any relief funding for Florida be offset by cuts in funding to farmers in the Midwest. After all, we need to be “fiscally responsible”, right Ron?

…since they started asking (the) question in November 2020, the percentage of Republicans who claim that Biden only won due to voter fraud has hardly budged at all. On Nov. 18, 2020, 70 percent of Republicans said Biden won only due to voter fraud. This month, 61 percent did. On average, over the course of those nine polls, 64 percent of Republicans have blamed voter fraud — just shy of two-thirds of the total.

The pattern is obvious. People who want to believe that voter fraud occurred are almost universally people who do not read evaluations of fraud claims in The Washington Post. They are not people who are looking for information that falsifies their beliefs because, if they did, they would very quickly find it. Vague debunked allegations are made and comport with their sense of what happened, and that’s good enough.

White Supremacist is sentenced to 4 years in prison for his role in the 1/6 insurrection.

Hale-Cusanelli, 32, worked as a security guard at Naval Weapons Station Earle and lived on the base in Colts Neck, N.J. In addition to being a supporter of President Donald Trump, the man was a white supremacist who supported Nazi ideology and admired Adolf Hitler, even wearing a “Hitler mustache” to work, the government said in court filings. But U.S. District Judge Trevor N. McFadden ruled that Hale-Cusanelli’s racist preferences were too prejudicial to present to a jury, though he did allow the defendant’s comments that he wanted a civil war to come into evidence.

“By any indication, the Republican Party — upper level, midlevel and grass roots — is a party that can only be described as not committed to democracy,”

“Nearly 70 percent of Republican voters say that Mr. Biden did not win the 2020 election legitimately, according to polls”

The roots of the modern election-denier movement stretch back to 2008. When Mr. Obama was running for president and after he won, some of his critics falsely claimed that his victory was illegitimate because he was born in Kenya rather than Hawaii. This movement became known as birtherism, and Mr. Trump was among its proponents. By making the claims on Fox News and elsewhere, he helped transform himself from a reality television star into a political figure.

Mr. Trump’s promotion of falsehoods, turned them into a central part of the Republican Party’s message. About two-thirds of Republican voters say that Mr. Biden did not win the 2020 election legitimately, according to polls. Among Republican candidates running for statewide office this year, 47 percent have refused to accept the 2020 result, according to a FiveThirtyEight analysis.

“The growth of the election-denier movement has created a possibility that would have seemed unthinkable not so long ago. It remains unclear whether the loser of the next presidential election will concede or will instead try to overturn the outcome”

Educated northerners treat immigrants with humanity - the opposite of how southern “Christians” treat people trying to escape political turmoil, economic instability and a chronic humanitarian crisis.

“In any case, islanders more than met the DeSantis challenge. St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Edgartown quickly rounded up 50 cots and mattresses and housed the migrants. An emergency room doctor came down from Boston, while lawyers offered pro bono services. Five restaurants donated far more food than the group could possibly eat. High school students studying Spanish came to translate. The Islanders Talk page on Facebook exploded with offers to help, and donations poured into a Community Services fund. So many volunteers rushed the church with toys, clothes, bedding and other supplies that the police finally pleaded for a stop to keep traffic flowing.
“We literally have everything we need,” Lisa Belcastro, the island’s homeless shelter coordinator, told reporters Thursday”

The approximately 50 migrants flown to Martha’s Vineyard represent the latest example of a vile stunt in which GOP governors bus migrants to Democratic strongholds to protest President Biden’s border policies. Just as has happened elsewhere, island officials were surprised but are welcoming the new arrivals.

To respond, Biden should direct the Treasury Secretary to delay social security checks and Medicare benefits to people living in Florida and Texas because those folks don’t support big government socialism. So let’s fuck with them and laugh and laugh as they suffer in their poverty.

Speaking during a downpour, a nativist politician from New York told the crowd, to cheers: “American as I am, I decidedly prefer this rain to the reign of Roman Catholicism in this country … I, as an American citizen, prefer this rain or any other rain to the reign of foreignism … I go for America first, last and always.”

The phrase “ America First”was invoked during the first Red Scare to defend against Bolshevism and on the floor of Congress to pass the raft of laws that imposed racial and ethnic quotas on immigration in the early decades of the 20th century, not to be lifted until the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965. And it was a favorite slogan of the resurgent Ku Klux Klan, which in the 1920s was a nativist, anti-immigrant, anti-Catholic, antisemitic, antilabor and red-baiting fraternity as well as a white-supremacist one. The point for all these groups was always the same: to defend “real America” against the threats posed by anyone they deemed less than a real American

Even though the Republicans try to punish blue states whenever they can (2017 Tax Act SALT Cap) Democrats passed legislation that will help Ohio and other Republican leaning states. The Chips Act was pushed through by Democrats and signed by Biden bringing billions of dollars in subsidies to build factories in Red states.

“The federal subsidies, part of the Chips Act signed into law last month, are sparking a wave of chip investment. Micron is holding its own groundbreaking ceremony on Monday for a $15 billion chip factory near its headquarters in Boise, Idaho. Chip maker Wolfspeed on Friday announced plans to build a new manufacturing facility in Chatham County, North Carolina” Taiwan’s TSMC, the world’s largest chip maker, has said it will seek subsidies for a $12 billion factory that it has begun building in Phoenix and is aiming to finish late next year” And a partnership between SkyWater Technology and Purdue University will apply for a federal subsidy to build a new $1.8 billion factory and research facility next to the university in West Lafayette, Ind” Nearby states are hoping to benefit from the cluster of suppliers that industry experts say is bound to develop around the Ohio site. Giant chip factories need chemicals, blank silicon wafers to etch, and equipment and service providers.
“Microelectronics occurs in clusters. We believe Indiana and Ohio are a cluster,” Indiana’s Secretary of Commerce Brad Chambers said in an interview this week. “That Silicon Heartland concept I think is real.”

ALL RED STATES. ALL BENEFITING FROM LEGISLATION PASSED BY BIDEN

Does this make Democrats suckers? Are Red state Americans too dumb to know who helped them?

A “Russia hoax” lawsuit by Trump is dismissed by a judge with the derision it deserved.

“At its core, the problem with Plaintiff’s Amended Complaint is that Plaintiff is not attempting to seek redress for any legal harm … instead, he is seeking to flaunt a two-hundred-page political manifesto outlining his grievances against those that have opposed him, and this Court is not the appropriate forum,” he wrote”

Imagine belonging to a right wing militia group that is led by a guy who is so incompetent he shot himself in the eye.

That’s right, Stewart Rhodes, the eye patch wearing leader of the Oath Keepers who is about to go on trial for sedition and numerous other charges, shot his own eye out when he dropped his pistol and the gun went off. What a loser. A loser who attracts other losers. Rhodes and the Oath Keepers supported Donald Trump during his presidency of course.

Oh and the cherry on top - his real name is Elmer, as in Elmer Fudd.

These red states just can’t control crime. 4 more shot and killed in this conservative city awash in guns. So sad.

But this is just an anecdote.

A body found Monday has been identified as that of a kindergarten teacher who was abducted during an early-morning jog last week in Memphis, authorities announced Tuesday.

First the  Uvalde, Texas mass shooting at a school and the incompetent response by law enforcement. Now this. These Republican led cities and states are just havens for violent crime. So poorly managed.

“Jackson, MS, already located in one of the poorest states in the U.S., has seen its tax base dwindle and is far short of the revenues leaders say are necessary to fix outdated water infrastructure in mostly black neighborhoods. While the bipartisan infrastructure bill passed last November includes $459 million for water improvements throughout the state, Mayor Lumumba (D)  has said the city would need at least $2 billion to fix its water infrastructure.”
— The Hill

Governor Tate Reeves (R) was on TV today saying the state needs support from the federal government to fix their sewer and water systems.

Note - Mississippi already gets way more money back from the US treasury than it sends. Why should we tax blue state residents with their high incomes only to give it to poor red states. This is Socialism! If Republicans want drinking water in Mississippi then raise the state and local taxes to pay for it.
