@Crocodile
Why did you target Pattern instead of say That1User or Greyparrot who had outed power roles?
Created:
Posted in:
-->
@Greyparrot
Why is it obvious? A mimic targets him and turns into an amnesiac... Do mimics usually turn into amnesiacs when targeting vanilla?
Pattern's defense:
I mis-understood and thought he was talking about himself in real life.
Croc immediately echoing those same words:
i meant amnesiac like i forget stuff irl.
It doesn't sit right with me, it seems like hand holding. I could be wrong, but it's a very notable thing which I don't think should be preemptively dropped just because it's apparently "sus as fuck" to vote for people who scum slip.

Got to say it: This feels like Croc and Pattern are in a scum team, with Pattern very frustrated that Croc is messing up on even fake claiming, then having to privately correct him.
This is not to forget that Pie is my leaning scum candidate, but...
Unvote,

Why do you have pie on there twice? Also when was Pattern CCed?

A little off topic, but can anyone think of any crazy moments that should be immortalized?
Doesn't have to be whole debates, could be a comment, a vote, a forum post, a running joke, anything.

My votes last year: https://www.debateart.com/forum/topics/2876/post-links/121517
USERS
One foregone conclusion, and two honorable mentions.
- SupaDudz
What can I say, it felt like he was cheated out of it last year. - While no longer "27.5% of the active votes," after all this time away he's still the #1 voter.
- semperfortis
P1: It is prima facie that critical thinking is useful.
P2: Syllogisms and the logical form help express and encourage critical thinking.
P3: semperfortis raised the frequency of those techniques even outside his own debates.
C: semperfortis should be inducted into the HoF.
DEBATES
First up, repeating one of my nominations from last year...
- While drilling down to one core issue, this was possibly the most in depth religious debate we’ve had. The educational value of this debate cannot be overstated.
- This House, as Israel, would end compulsory military service by whiteflame & Tejretics
A runner up from last year's HoF, which I believe to be worthy of further consideration. - Reserved for later consideration.
THREADS
Not sure yet. Honestly, when broaching the Miscellaneous category, one idea was merging it and threads into a general "other" category.
I'll probably cast nominations for something, but right now I need sleep.

Before anything else, I've got to say it: Kid looks like a bad G.I. Joe cosplayer.
Tough one as well. I am neutral. At one point, he was being attacked, but at the same time, he shot them in the head. You don't aim for the head, you aim for the foot or a non lethal part of the body in general. This happened in my town recently with a kid 16yr old kid who stabbed a kid because he was getting curbstomped. He used a knife and stabbed him in the stomach. Anyway, I don't think he was a registered carrier as well, so I think it's murder IMO.
Having been shot at plenty, I am not a fan of the perfect grazing wound idea. I would actually love to see that as an option in a FPS such as Halo, but in the real world there's a level of careful precision which no amount of training seems to instill reliably once adrenaline gets going.
Weirdly, I will compare him to George Zimmerman. Poor choices which made a situation needlessly worse, reckless endangerment and other crimes certainly but premeditated murder seems a far stretch. On the other hand with Rittenhouse, the felony murder rule could be applied since he was breaking various laws which lead to the escalation that was likely to result in death... A problem there becomes that he's underage, so my concern drifts toward whomever provided the weapons (intentionally plural).
Regardless of how this turns out, it is pretty good evidence for why the police should not be wholesale disbanded (as the other option is this shit as the norm instead of a national news story). Which isn't to insult the idea of massive reform and redirecting much of the funding.

So last year one of the winning threads, won due to a joke about someone's nether regions. Thus this year we allow something which can serve as a joke category (it could also honor great votes or other things). It's not that I think jokes can't be in the HoF, it's that they should not subtract from more deserving entries within their respective categories; to which my first nominee perfectly encapsulates as it is unworthy as a debate but memorable for other reasons...

Ragnar instantly assumes there was no kill because he roleblocked the person carrying out the kill? The odds of that happening are 10 to 1
I can agree that there are other possibilities. As Oro mentioned, the odds shift further if there are any BPs (or even a real doctor... if there is one, please do not out yourself). However, I get better odds of lynching a scum this way, than I do if I just made it random.
Of course, yes, Grey, myself, and Pie could be the scum team doing some type of elaborate bus chain.
Created:

@ILikePie5
What was your justification for Roleblocking me?
I want to say it's random, but I did not overly like your posts (lead the Speed wagon for example), and the look of Kaguya Ōtsutsuki creeps me out. That combined with ruling out a few choices (croc for example, who if scum might fail to be active enough to NK anyone, and Grey who if town could get valuable results from tracking (and pretty hard to fake if scum)).
Created:

@Greyparrot
Im really curious how Ragnar blocked a role that isn't blockable.
To my knowledge, RB can target anyone of any role. Kinda like Tracker: you can follow anyone, and they might not leave their house but you'll still have followed them.

i don't really know if the that1 died from hiding behind mafia or because ragnar rb'd your nk (can rb'er do that?)
Yes. They just have to target the whichever scum who was attempting to carry out a NK. I've actually been scum and gotten stun locked, unable to carry out NKs (which resulted in me conceding... please excuse the excessive humor).

Didn't supa have a solider in south park mafia?
Not seeing it there: https://www.debateart.com/forum/topics/3530-south-park-mafia-endgame
I did however manage to find it on Drafterman's role list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_pFVyzYrrc2kkwkX60hMmmTeYrM0bC3LejPCYtLZ9cQ/edit#gid=0&range=B168
Still, it seems uncommon. I'm comfortable with my vote where it's at.

My role is Soldier - basically if I’m the last townie alive, town ends up winning.
I've never heard of that role, I can't find it on Mafiascum, and it sounds pretty OP.

Hall of Fame II
Nomination Stage Rules
Welcome to DART's second official Hall of Fame induction process! This thread is for the first stage of that process, namely, the nominations stage. During this stage, users (you) may propose nominees in four categories (users, threads, debates, and miscellaneous) for inclusion in the Hall of Fame. The nominees with the most nominations in each category (approx. 4-6 per category) will advance to the second stage of the process.
Any user will be able to propose up to three nominees per category for a maximum of 12 nominations per nominating user. Nominators may choose to nominate less than the maximum number if they so choose. You may nominate any of your content, but not yourself as a user. The nominating process will close sometime on 08/30/20 (most likely morning around 10:00am, PST).
When you propose a nomination, you are permitted nay encouraged to offer a brief justification for, explanation of, or reason for your nomination. Please also bold your nominations to make them more visible. You are permitted to change your nominations within reason.
There are no formal criteria for determining who/what can be nominated except that it must be on DART and cannot be a previous winner within said category. However, if moderation concludes that a nomination is wholly and blatantly incongruous with the purpose of the HOF (that purpose being to highlight good, notable, and/or consequential inductees), we reserve the right to withhold forwarding that nomination to the second stage of the process.
There are no prerequisites or eligibility requirements for users to participate in the Hall of Fame nominating process, except that they have an account on DART and are not voting/nominating from more than one account. Importantly, please don't engage in coordinated vote trading and such, as that would be incongruous.
Categories
- Users: A way to honor any noteworthy user for their contributions to the site and community.
- Debates: A way to highlight must read debates.
- Threads: A way to highlight must read or at least influential threads.
- Miscellaneous: Anything else, particularly but not exclusively for comedic value.
Let's Begin!
With all that said, let the nominating process begin! If you have questions, feel free to ask. Good luck to everyone and best wishes on a fantastic Hall of Fame process. This is a wonderful site and community, and there is so much greatness out there to recognize! We look forward to honoring those contributions and users who have made this site what it is!

@Dr.Franklin
Only problem was that the outcome in all was a foregone conclusion due to opponents forfeiting or conceding. Still one of them should be included as an honorable mention, due to his amazing framing of things into logical form.
Which of these do you think is best?

@Greyparrot
It's a bit of laziness which borders on being anti-town.WTF is this suppossed to mean? I fucking practically copy pasted my PM, and now you want me to analyze the inner workings of Supa for giving me that PM?You're the one being anti-town with that unrealistic expectation.
I would not think you would read Supa's mind, but he's the game host, you insisting people should ask him instead of you is not realistic.
Whereas had you read as much of the wiki page as I have to know the very basics of the character you've been assigned, you could make an educated guess as to what about the character might make him a tracker, instead of saying the reason is go ask Supa.
At this point, my core doubt to you being mafia, is would you be this lazy in your role justification?
that1 and ragnar are in my scumpile
Putting me in your scumpile, for the mere act of criticizing your laziness... You know what: OMGUS.

@Greyparrot
I would have thought that character would be a Survivor or Condemner.
"I am a prodigy...blah blah blah.. something about revenge, Itachi, blah blah blah"
Reading some of the wiki, I could imagine him being a tracker via trying to find Itachi (not sure how many seasons it took...). However, I think the expansion offered was to the effect of go ask Supa #283. It's a bit of laziness which borders on being anti-town.
Still, the role is testable...
Well, I have to get ready for a job interview, and really shouldn't be spending this long here.
