Well my return to the site was mostly due in large to a revitalized interest in mafia. I came back in October and enjoyed a good 4 months of mafia games. Its been fun! It's been real! But I'm probably out until mafia makes a return to the website. Thanks to everyone for some fun times and good memories. Its been real.

Hello everyone! I have an idea for what I feel would be a fun concept for a debate tournament. The idea would be that all the participants are completely anonymous throughout the tournament, until the end where I announce the winner of the tournament and their identity.
How it will work, I will create a discord server for the two challengers each round, in which case they will use an anonymous discord name that doesn't distinguish who one another is. They agree to the terms of the debate, (round length, time limit, etc). Then they will both have 3 days each to submit arguments to me via google doc. Once that document is sent to me I will copy and paste that argument into my own google document as a stamped final, so the debater cannot make edits later after the argument is submitted. After all round of argumentation are submitted, I will send the completed google doc with both debaters arguments separately to 3 volunteer judges who will decide the winner between the anonymous pro and con.
Since this is a proof of concept idea that I want to see if it will work, I will start with 4 test subjects. If you are interested in participating in this tournament, please message me privately. I will announce when I have 4 volunteers and we can start this. There will be the main round then a final round, before the winner is announced. If this turns out well I'd like to try an 8 man out later.
I will need 3 judges but your identity doesn't need to be hidden. I would prefer judges with a lot of debate experience, and who are generally open minded with how they reserve judgment. RFD's will be messaged to the debaters after a decision is made on the winner.

I know I went recently but no one else is posting a quick fire, and Zaradi's game isn't starting til march, so I wanted to try this other concept out.
Roles:
Town-
1 gunsmith. The gunsmith will be selected randomly, and HAS to pass a gun to someone each night. The gun MUST be used by the person receiving the gun. The gun can be passed to mafia, but is the only night killing method. After using the gun the player will become the new gunsmith and must select who to give a gun to the following night phase.
1 vest maker. The vest-maker will be selected randomly, and HAS to pass a 1x bulletproof vest each night. The vest is a 1 time use, and expires after the night phase it is received. The receiver of the vest becomes the new vest maker, and must pass the vest the following night phase.
1 Mechanic. The mechanic will be selected randomly, and HAS to select a person to fix each night. If a vest or gun has been tampered with, the mechanic will fix the item. The receiver of the mechanic ability will become the new mechanic, and must pass the ability on the following night phase.
Mafia-
1 Saboteur. The Saboteur is the only role in the game that is static and cannot be passed. This role will be the mafia's only ability, barring they aren't given a gun or vest. The Saboteur can choose a player to sabotage at night. If that player received a vest, it will not work. If that player owns a gun, the gun will backfire and kill the shooter. The mechanic is the only counter to this role.
Gunsmith, vestmaker, and mechanic will be chosen at the start via RNG, meaning yes the mafia can potentially start out with one or all three of these roles, so starting out as one of these is not town confirmation. If someone dies as any of these roles, the role is permanently removed from the game and cannot be passed anymore.
Anyone interested? I think 7 would be fun for this. If we get seven, I will make 2 mafia vs 5 town, if we get only 5 I will do 1 mafia vs 4 town.

Theme difference was Mafia were from games town won, town was from games mafia won.
Thoughts: Zaradi and grey didn't do anything bad, they took a gamble with a gambit that didn't work. It was a good try though and if it worked probably would have secured them to the endgame.
Great job to town! Good night selection on your watches Waterphoenix. No MVP's given, every one did well. BTW this is the first town win 8 games (I think MCU heroes was the last) so great job townies. I half expected Zaradi to pull a win out of his ass, given everyone wanted to confirm zaradi for the cop fake claim I gave him. BTW it is true, I usually give mafia a really solid fake claim. Last game I hosted, I gave them the main character of the story. I do this to influence looking at behavior over claims. I also had town slightly more powerful than mafia in this game, they needed four mislynches, and had a couple "confirmable" roles with the mason and DD.

Gameplay mechanics: Because this is a slightly different type of theme, I will relay gameplay mechanics up front. All standard mafia rules apply to this game, with no special lynching rules. The only exception to that is "copy/pasting role PM" rule. I don't care if you do that, since every role in this game is a role that has been used before, there is no set structure to PM.
In fact all roles in this game will say this exactly: "You are ____'s role from _____'s _____ Mafia. Your role: "Copy pasted role PM here" And then a link will follow with the endgame or thread that the role was originally posted to.
There are only two major mechanics of this game. The first is that there is a major difference between how town and mafia role PM's were selected, something that both affiliations will not have in common. Mafia were encouraged to fake claim because of this, and were not told what the thematical difference was. The second I will tell you. No character (player) was used twice in this game. For example, if your role PM says you were ViperKing's role in a game, no other role pm will have a ViperKing role. So it is possible to "CC" someone essentially.
With that said this is a bare bones open setup 11 player game, 2 mafia, 9 town, and no third parties. I hope you all have fun and enjoy! #DDOTHROWBACK!

Welcome one and all to the sign ups for my third game on DART! This is a concept i've wanted to do for a year but keep delaying it for excitement about other themes. Well I finally caved and am getting it done. The theme will be roles from past DDO mafia games, and your role pm can be any role that was used in any game going back to when mafia first started on the website!
There will be no 3rd party in this game. There will be two "thematical" differences between mafia and town, things that both affiliations roles will not have in common, so fake claiming and scum hunting will be viable. I have balanced this game for 13 and would prefer not to have the rebalance last minute but will if I must. Thanks in advance for signing up.

Ever since drafter posted this role in the dart mafia resources thread, I have been trying to think of clever ways to incorporate this role into a mafia game. It seems like a pretty cool concept."President - Each towns person is privately notified of who the President is. If the President dies, the town automatically loses."
I actually tried using this role in a live mafia game the other night. I made every townie bulletproof except for one president and one vice president. The president and vice president knew who each other were, but didn't know who anyone else was. Half the town players knew who the president was. Half the town players knew who the vice president was. Mafia was told they had to kill the president and vice president to win, and was given the layout of the town role PM minus the part telling them who the president/VP was. I thought this was going to be an interesting concept, especially since the only way a player could die is through lynching, thus making a very active game. Seventh instantly suggested all players pre-type out the name they received in their role pm and on the count of three announce who that player is. I actually thought of this scenario before the game started, and figured mafia would just quickly type the names they saw as they were posted only being a split second behind or so. The mafia (airmax and sui_generis) did not opt to do this strategy, and instead tried to guess who was the president, so the plan instantly failed and outted them. I think this concept would work in a forum setting though, since it isn't really possible to get all players to post at the same time like that. and a strategy like that would cause a town loss.
Regardless, I would like to try this role again in maybe a quick fire game sometime, or see mods use it more. I can see some very interesting situations with this, if balanced correctly.

The only experience I have with RTS so far is Halo wars 1 and 2 (both which I love, and halo wars 1 is arguably one of my favorite games). I am now downloading Ancestors Legacy which looks pretty fun as well. Never played star craft, but I am thinking of giving it a shot as well.

The forums were quiet, the users were smart.
They spent time with their families, the day was perfect
We were all living lives, except PressF4respect.
Not a mod was in site, discipline was supbar.
Decorating a tree, was our humble mod Ragnar.
Wylted was out partying in some awesome clubs,
And noobs in overwatch were getting dropped by Supadudz.
Oromagi rested peacefully on top of DART's Ranking's,
Old posts took a day off from being bumped by Dr. Franklin.
SirAnonymous was out caroling to his next door Neighbor,
And Airmax got his ass kicked by Lunatic at Beat Saber.
Most Dart members were happy, even RM could not fret,
Except for the sadness felt from poor thett,
For Zmikecuber's absence left him feeling empty,
And the mafia forums dearly missed Frenzy.
Mike made some features, that were put to good use,
And Bsh1 and blamonkey's debate was still at a truce.
Greyparrot played mafia, and went out with a bang!
As did banned members, such as Ethang.
Virtuoso wrapped presents, his wallet was empty.
Airmax was a jew though, so his still had plenty.
Raisor ran for president on DDO, despite all of it's spam,
While mafia thrived because of advertising by drafterman.

We were all pretty jealous, especially Speedrace.
Trump got impeached, we got rid of his stench.

First off I gotta say this is an amazing game. Its basically dodgeball in VR and one of the closest things I've seen to being able to play sports with someone living in a completely different state. It is not only a good workout, it is an absolute blast. There is strategy to timing your throws (when you have the ball you get a one time use shield) so you have to carefully plan your attacks.
Also usually max destroys me in this game, but I had some good luck yesterday and won a best of five. I did not include his audio in the recording for his privacy.
I am really loving VR and am excited to see what the future holds for VR. I will be playing half life alyx, lone echo 2, and some other VR titles this year and me and airmax will be on the lookout for more coop VR games to play.

Title says it all. I'm not complaining about the moderators btw. I know they are just doing their jobs. Just curious as to who decided punishment lengths and maybe trying to understand the logic behind them a bit more?
For example supadudz being gone 7 days for a violation of a restraining order seems a bit long, especially when the harm in context of the violation seemed minimal. He's also one of the more active mafia players so the community will miss out on a much needed player slot for the next week.
Also I don't know TheRealNihilist well but i know i've seen him post a bit and know his absence effects the activity around the forums a bit. Max commonly temp banned people but I don't often recall that lengthy of bans unless it was a very serious offense or if it was a repeat offence.
Dont y'all think 1 or 2 days is good?
Again I don't know the context so forgive me if I am mistaken about these just went through the mod log and saw all these lengthy bans and was curious how that rule about long ban times was implemented

I am interested in the mafia communities opinion on this matter, because my opinion has sort of changed on the subject. I used to prefer better balance but lately I think I like the idea of role crazy a little bit. I mean I think every mod should strive to balance the game as much as possible, and at least try not to leave one side a glaring strength or weakness. But it's rare that it won't be argued in an endgame that a game isn't balanced anyway.
Would you rather have an all vanilla/goon game (which I guess is as close as you can get to perfect balance) or a game where most or all players actually have a night action?

Still no current mafia games going on, so I wanted to see who was up for another one after drafters game?

Thank you to everyone who played in this game! My main reason for choosing this theme was to advertise this new show on Netflix! It was fantastically made, and I hope some of you had a chance to learn more about this cool universe while researching roles etc. If you did share your thoughts on the dark crystal with me!
As far as the game goes it was absolutely crazy!
Day phase 1 Drafterman got really unlucky. Funnily enough, Drafterman had a solid claim. The podlings as a group of characters was actually a role that would have been included in the game, but was removed because of downsizing from 13 to 10. Then AROSE fake CC’ed him him as Hup (not sure that neccarily counts as a CC, but it would have hurt him). Not sure what AROSE was thinking there. If drafter was town he would have really screwed over his team there, he basically lied about his claim and CC’ed drafter over a strong gut feeling drafter was guilty. Well it would have turned out horribly for him if Drafter didn’t claim JOAT right after. That sealed drafters fate. Obviously drafter wouldn’t have had a way of knowing that there was a town role connected to his that was also JOAT so it wasn’t necessarily a bad play, just really unlucky on his part. I am really surprised that this worked in towns favor, and I seriously am not trying to be a dick, but I think AROSE plan (while successful) was a bad town play. It worked for him out of extreme luck. Draftermans luck worsened that night phase when he killed Warren. Warren’s role was designed to be a bit swingy, the original game just had 3 mafia and no 3rd party. I changed it when I was only able to get 10 and warrens role was made. I figured the best way to balance 3 mafia would be to do it the way I did, and have them not be able to communicate with warren or know who the ascendency was if he chose to join them. Warren did try dropping hints to mafia in Day Phase one when he first mention affiliation changing roles, but I guess that would be kind of a stretch for mafia to pick up on. Their night kill choice wasn’t a bad one, just unlucky again.
Day Phase 3 is where towns luck started turning around IMO. I don’t know why this Speed VS supa thing meant one or the other was town. Greyparrot did awesome staying undercover.
I had a feeling all that time spent deliberating a decision was gonna be ultimately pointless. At the ens of the day he still only had a 50/50 shot of hammering correctly and didnt even make a detailed analysis for his decision so overthinking might have hindered instead of helped. But supa had some bad play so I kind of figured he would have been lynched.

Ability 1- SkekSil “The Chamberlain’s” Bus-drive: You can redirect a players night action onto another player. This ability only works with active roles, passive roles will be un-affected.
Ability 2- SkekMal “The Hunter’s” Role Cop: When used, you will learn the role (not character) of the individual you select.
Ability 3- SkekTek “The Scientist’s” Lookout: Watch a player during the night phase to see who may visit them.
Ability 4- SkekSo “The Emperor's” Lawyer: Use this ability on either you or your teammate for them to appear innocent to cop results.

A-R-O-S-E :You are the UrRu, otherwise known as “the Mystics”. After the Great Division, the UrSkeks split into two beings, good and evil. Thus Every UrRu has an evil Skeksis counterpart. If your SkekSis counterpart dies, you become a vanilla townie. You are the JOAT. You have 4 abilities that can be activated. You can choose a target each night, though you will be unable to choose which ability is used each night. The ability used will be decided by which UrRu’s Skeksis counterpart is active that night. You will be told which of your abilities are used. You cannot forfeit an action, you MUST choose a target each night. Your abilities are as follows:
Ability 1- UrSol “The Chanter’s” Tracker: You will see who the person you selected visited during the night.
Ability 2- UrVa “The Archer’s” Watcher: You will see who the person you selected was visited by during the night.
Ability 3- UrTih “The Alchemist’s” Doctor: The person you select will be protected from a night kill.
Ability 4- UrSu “The Master’s” Vote steal: The person targeted will lose their voting privileges during the following day phase. Instead, you will have two votes.

Warren42- You are the Arathim, also known as the Ascendency. After being banished from your home, the caves of Grot, you are the enemy of the Gelfling and Skeksis. You start the game as a vanilla third party. Anytime before night phase 2, you can choose one time whether to join the town, the Mafia, or remain 3rd party. If you choose mafia, your number will count towards the mafia. The mafia will be told the ascendency has joined them, but will not be told who you are and you will not be able to join in mafia communications. You will become a mafia goon with no extra abilties. If you choose town, you will count as a town number, however the town will not be told of your existence. You will investigate innocent, and will gain a role. If you do not choose a side, or choose 3rd party you will become a bulletproof third party survivor and will win above both sides if you survive to the endgame without being lynched. You can only choose once (no take backsies). If you are investigated before you choose, you will investigate guilty. Your choice will be publicly revealed upon your death.

Welcome to the Dark Crystal Mafia! The Dark crystal is an amazing world created by Jim Henson, and was masterfully created into a film using puppetry in the 80's. After reading the books, and watching the new show on Netflix, I wanted to make this game. The game may include characters from all sources, books, films, show, and comics. Hey guys, with the new release of the Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance coming out on Netflix, i've gotten pretty into this universe and would like to host a mafia game with this theme since ive probably been on the hold list for a year lol.
I realize warrens game is going on atm so I can wait until thats finished before starting. I dont know how active mafia generally is right now so I'll start sign ups with 13 and see how it goes from there and adjust as needed.

After funding John’s campaign for Sheriff, you became close with Kevin Rayburn, as he is easily manipulated and in a lot of trouble. With money comes resources, and you are able to assist Kevin with removing and hiding the body of Marco Diaz. You are thus the Janitor. You can hide the body of your night kill choice at any time. However only one body can be janitored at a given time. If you choose to janitor another individual, your previous body will become uncovered for the town to see. You win with the mafia. Vaarka- You are Meg Rayburn, one of the few Rayburn children who hasn’t actually murdered anyone. While you are definitely not what most would call a good person, you aren’t the worst of the crop either. Unless of course you count concealing the murders of a brother and ex-boyfriend for the sake of your brothers, you really are an angel. However, when you move away to start a new life right at the beginning of the Eric O’bannon trial, some do find it pretty suspicious. Given the game took a while to start and not all players have re-confirmed, their may be some inactivity which may call for an extension later on, but we will review player activity at that point and evaluate. Standard mafia rules apply, most people in this game I believe should be familiar with them. There are no flavors or third party roles in this game, your role works exactly how it says it does.
